FOTD Friday: L'Oreal HIP's Sculpted eyeshadow duo

Hi fam!

Soooo, a reader asked me about L'Oreal HIP's eyeshadow duo in Sculpted. That would be this baby here.


Gorgeous, uh? She wanted to know how to make it into a wearable work-safe look. I didn't think it was possible only because this is one of L'O HIP's "metallic" duos....but after playing around a bit, I think you can roll up in a meeting with this duo and not get the side eye.

First...here are some swatches.


I would describe the color to the left as a silver based pink. Even when packed on, it doesn't seem to be too intimidating. However, the darker color, which I would describe as as a chalky black with pink shimmer, can be a little scary if you don't take your time.

To make sure I don't overdo it with darker colors on the crease, I have a little method. I do a dot!


That little dot of shadow, when blended across the crease, will be more than enough. Windshield wiper motion time, chicks!

And has anyone tried Urban Decay's liner in 1999?


Loves it! I lined the inner half of my waterline with this. On to the look!

So yeah...although it's a "metallic" duo, Sculpted is pretty wearable. Application is everything. Adding some more of that chalky black can turn it into a bangin' night eye.

Primers, primers, primers....

So we all know how important primers are.

Or do you?

If I plan on wearing eyeshadow I ALWAYS have to put down a base. My eyelids are greasier than than a mofo....trust me on this one, y'all. They are just a hot greasy oily mess. Eye shadow primers are lifesavers and my shadow colors vibrant and lasting all day.

The above are my favorite.

What kind of primers do you use? Concealer, pencils, gel liners, potions, paint pots?

The Most Glittery-est Polish to date!

This is by far the most glittery-est polish I own. It is insane!

Amor de Lacquer: Diamond Cosmetics' Fall Collection

Yep! I've got another Diamond Cosmetics collection for you. This time we're bringin' in the Fall with fabulous fall colors. You ready?

Crushed Velvet

What a fabulous name! Crushed Velvet reminds me a lot of Diamond Cosmetics' Plum Pie in the Sky. Except this baby has more purple in it. Vampy purples that actually LOOK purple (and not black) are so stunning to me. And I love that I got complete coverage with just one coat. Holla!

....and then I matte-d it up with Essie's Matte on You. I think I like it better shiny though.

Smokey Rose

If I had to rename this color, it would be Grandma's favorite. No joke...my paternal Grandmommy used to wear a color JUST like this when I was growing up. It is definitely a Grandma-color, I think. I didn't quite like it on me. I could really only rock this color with some kind of design on it. By itself it's a little *yawn*

Mulberry Mahem

Please oh please excuse the application of this baby. It was a tad bit watery. It isn't the most unique color but I love bright berries like this....we've seen them before but they still make me happy.

Cherry Tobacco

Well, hello there, hottie! What a fantastic fall color. You can't have a fall collection without a color like this. I LOVE Cherry Tobacco. Definitely my favorite color in this collection.

Well, this isn't my FAVORITE Diamond Cosmetics' collection but it's a good one. There is something for everyone. I mean, think about it---if you got this collection, you've got colors that your Grandma, little sister, Mom and teenage niece would like. I'm just sayin'....not all collections 'got it like that'.

For $2 a bottle, I think they are worth it! But I will always say that because....they are $2 a bottle! Seriously....how can you NOT buy at least one?

I highly recommend Crushed Velvet and Cherry Tobacco. They are fantabulous!

50 million pound challenge: I'm no size 6. But I don't care.

I have never been smaller than a size 12 in my adult years. And I've never really had a problem with this either. My thighs have always rubbed together and I still felt attractive. I could never be a runway model but that's never bothered me. The photo you see is of a slightly larger B. I was loved by friends and family but most importantly---I loved myself.

It wasn't until I visited the doctor my senior year of college and he told me he was concerned about my high blood pressure, that I began to worry. A few more visits confirmed that I indeed had dangerously high blood pressure for someone my age. My systolic reading (top number) wavered between 140 and 145. This was not a good look for a 22 year old...or anyone for that matter.

And so to the World of Weight Loss I went. I went from a size 16 to a size 12 solely on monitoring what I ate and became BFFs with the gym. My blood pressure has consistently stayed normal and physically, I feel great. I am far from skinny but I am in shape and healthy!

....even though I'm not a size 6. And even though I'll probably never wear a bikini. But I'm okay with that. I don't look at numbers. I don't own a scale and don't don't cringe at clothes that have double digits. I never really feel fat (unless I've over-indulged) and I can honestly say that I love my body; flaws, flub and all. According to the Body Mass Index calculator (stoopid calculator doesn't even consider muscle mass), I am obese. But when I look in the mirror, I don't see that. And I certainly don't feel that way when I'm running my miles in the morning. I'm not even desirous of being a size 10 or 8...and let's be honest, a 6 for me is a joke.

As we continue to press forward for healthier bodies and lifestyles, know that your beauty outshines what size you are and how much you weigh. It is a work in progress to get to a healthy weight--but in the meantime, don't let these numbers make you feel bad. You are beautiful no matter what.

Do yourself a favor and toss your scale out of the window.
