Stila’s Rock the Vote Red and contest!

| July 29, 2008 | 15 Comments

Hey lovely folx. Beauty bloggers everywhere have been buzzing about Stila’s “Rock the Vote Red”. I’m going to go ahead and assume that you beautiful people are registered to vote. So why not show support for your favorite candidate by rockin’ a lovely red lippie?

I’m not going to pretend that I’m super patriotic but I know many women and African Americans have died so that I can vote. I think it’s great that a cosmetic company like Stila is combining politics and beauty for a wonderful cause.

Not familiar with Stila’s lipsticks? Check me out in the beautifully sheer color “Natalie”

And the oh la la “Dominique”

Stila’s lippies aren’t too drying either so I’m definitely getting that “Rock the Vote Red” lipstick as soon as the make-up probation is lifted. And don’t even get me started on the “But Black can’t wear red lipsticks” bit. We alllll know that isn’t true, chicas so head on over to Stila’s website to cop your powerful red lipstick.

But I shouldn’t be the the only one glorifying Stila’s lipsticks. I am giving away “Ariel” and “Michaela”. How to snag them? Tell me your reason for why you think voting is so important. The best two answers to make me laugh, go “hmm” or bring me close to tears WIN! You can leave your answers in the comment or you can email me at Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.

Of course if you’ve won a contest in the last 6 months, you aren’t eligible. But I still want to hear your thoughts! Contest ends Wednesday, August 6, 2008 and winners will be announced soon after. Hop to it, ladies!

It is sooo important to vote, especially in this day and age. Many people, especially women, have fought for our right to vote and have a say about the future of our country. As women, we are always affected by who our President because many issues affect us and our children – gun control, abortion rights, education, health insurance – the list goes on and on. If we don’t cast our vote and choose – we are being complacent and currently, letting men make decisions for us. Vote, vote, vote!! Especially this time – we need change so we can get out of the recession, improve the economy and spend money on important stuff – like makeup!

  4. Virtuous Blue says:

I vote because i'm scared that if I don't i'll be paying 20 bucks a gallon for some gas in a matter of months. lol jk…

It's important to vote because not doing so would be single handedly snatching away our voice. No vote…no voice. No voice…no song. I sing my song for the woman with sore feet who went against the rules and sat at the front of the bus. I sing my song for young children that got sprayed with fire hoses. I sing my song for abused & dominated women. I sing my song for shackled slaves. I sing my song for ME, and most importantly…for my future children.

  11. jill_renae says:

It’s important to vote for two reasons:

1.) it honors the individuals that have sacrificed, fought, and died for our right to do so.

2.) If you don’t vote, you have no right to complain if it doesn’t turn out the way you want. :P

Basically, voting is a responsibility, not something that we should take for granted.

Natalie is the business!! Need that in my life!

  13. Toma says:

Voting is important to me because other people struggled to make it a reality for ALL of us. Why let their hard work go to waste?

  14. mary joyce says:

It is important to vote, it is our right as citizens and our duty to our country. Let our voices be heard. If we want some changes in our country, it is just but right that we put the the person that we think that is going to promote and implement the changes we want. voting gives us the power to elect the person that is our representative, somebody who is going to symbolize us . It is imperative we vote justly, because that person in going to sit in power. He or she must serve with an open heart and close pocket, no corruptions please and not just for their own gains and purposes.
That person must serve willingly and have a sound heart and mind.
    Exercise our right to vote!

  15. Applesaucery says:

I vote (and everyone who can should vote) because it ceases to be a democracy if the people aren’t participating in electing those who represent and make choices for us. If someone leads a country with no input from its citizens, that’s called a “monarchy” or a “dictatorship.” And I don’t live in either of those, thanks very much.

Also, I want the right to bitch if the candidate I didn’t support wins, and you are NOT allowed to bitch about policy and how everything’s falling apart if you DID NOT VOTE.
