Mascara Monday: Napoleon Perdis Set mascara

It’s Monday again, pretty people!! How was your weekend? Did you get in some much needed sleep? Check out “Lakeview Terrace” with my God-daddy Samuel L. Jackson? Hit up a hot club? Visit your favorite restaurant? Well, I hope that whatever you did was wonderful because we are back to another looooong week.

This mascara is reader requested and I was excited to test and review it around this time since this line is fairly new to Target.

Napoleon Perdis’ Set Mascara

Price: 3 out of 5 (ohmigooodness, $15?! Yikes!)
Packaging (Brush Wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 3 out of 5

What it claims: “Make way for the runway. A mascara that thickens, lengthens and curls lashes with professional results.”

The truth: It’s definitely not the BEST mascara that I’ve ever used….but then it isn’t the worst either.

What I loved about it: The wand is pretty coolio. I mean, granted it is you average and ordinary wand but I always love wands like these—they do a fantastic job at covering each lash with ease.

What I didn’t like: It didn’t really do anything for me. I mean…at all.

Overall: Well, I don’t know. For a $15 mascara I really expected more. I have defintely had better results with Maybelline, L’Oreal and other cosmetic company mascaras that retail for cheaper prices. I did not experience any clumping and flaking and that is always a plus but it was just such a “blah” mascara. I wanted some POW….BAM…..a WOW factor, or something. A sista got nothing and that was a little disheartening. The good news is Napoleon Perdis has a ton of other mascaras that I would be inclined to try if the price wasn’t so steep.

Would I recommend it: I would not. I can’t think of any situation in which I would re-purchase (or even use the current tube I have) this mascara.

Didn’t get around to doing a video for this baby due to my travels this weekend….but tell me what you think. Target, apparently is adding some “higher-end” brands to their cosmetics department. I don’t really know who the target (haha) consumers are considering most folx I know only purchase relatively cheap buys from Target stores and this line is anything BUT that. Check out the website for yourself.

Nevertheless, I urge you chicas to check out this and other new lines as your nearest Target. It’s rather interesting to see such a higher-end brand display at Target. It really does seem like something that should be at Sephora, Ulta or a department store. Has anyone seen this at their Target? Or tried any of Napoleon Perdis’ other products?

Let me knowww!! And enjoy your Monday and upcoming week, beautiful people!

Yay for Mascara Monday! I was tempted to try out a NP mascara when I saw Sephora having their clearance on this line, but now I’m glad that I didn’t bother!

Looking for to next Monday’s installment B! Hope you’re enjoying safe travels!

This line is in this week’s Target flyer. Well, I know now to pass on the mascara. Maybe they’ll have some other goodies.

Thanks for the heads up… $15 is very high for Target, they oughta be ashamed, lol.

I saw the new lines at target passed on his entire line. I can’t bring my self to but any of his products because he just sceeves me out for reason. He looks like he smells like vodka and B.O.

I haven’t been to Tarjay in weeks but I think I may pass this one by.

I agree. If the mascara doesn’t wow you, then what’s the point on spending $15 for it if you got better results from a cheaper and more popular product such as L’Oreal. I’ve heard a lot about these new higher end brands at Target. I guess this review shows that higher end doesn’t necessarily mean better?

ok i’m cracking up.. you wouldn’t recommend this.. not even finish using the tube you have.. HAHAHAHA! damn it doesn’t get any worse? oh wait, you did do a review on a cheapy brand like nyc or wet n wild… where you said it flaked off before you had the chance to take it off HAHAHHAAA! cracking myself up with some COM.com-isms!

OMG! NP makes the best mascara in the world! The trick is to use the madame prep before using the mascara’s. I get compliments everyday on my lashes. Please give it a try. You won’t regret it.

Hey there. Thanks for a great write-up. Wow, the public has spoken. And i thought it was just me. I reviewed the new high end Target lines on thisthatbeauty.blogspot.com and pretty much had the same reaction as the rest of the world. Why pay THIS MUCH at target??? For these prices you can get much better. I foresee the NP line and the others (Jemma Kid, etc) headed for clearance very soon! Maybe then I’ll cop. LOL

Napoleon is australia’s version of MAC. There was a great debate a year or so ago on the aussie vogue forum re napoleon being the repackaged version of La Femme cosmetics (though we don’t have that brand here). Vogue deleted all those post because Napoleon was advertising with them. I absolutely love his primers though – smooth as!
