Mascara Monday: Max Factor 2000 Calorie

Happy Monday, beautiful people! Can you believe that Christmas is next week? Have you snagged your gifts yet? Not me! I have never been a good gift giver. Perhaps lack of funds? Who knows..

Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara

Price: 5 out of 5 (a little less than $7 from Ulta)
Packaging (Brush Wand): 1 out of 5
Overall: 3 out of 5

What it claims: ” Get a dramatic look with 2000 Calorie Mascara — it volumizes lashes up to 200%. Water resistant and smudge-proof hypoallergenic formula is suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. With curved brush applicator.” (source)

The truth: Dramatic? Not so much!

What I loved about it:
It gave a little length to my lashes. But nothing that my current HG lengthening mascara can’t do.

What I didn’t like: The flipping wand was the worst thing I have ever seen Seriously..it was a clumpy mess and maybe it’s just be but I’m not a big fan of curved brushes. I don’t even see the point of them.

Overall: For starters, the picture I have listed is not the the EXACT same one as the one I purchased. In fact, after doing further research, I found that Max Factor has a number of 2000 Calorie mascara. The one I really wanted to try out was the 2000 Calorie Lash Extreme plumper. This mascara, I found to be just “okay”. I was actually a little disappointed. It wasn’t BAD, but I guess I didn’t understand what it was supposed to do. The volume was just so so. I didn’t experience and flaking throughout the day and the clump factor was down a bit. Definitely nothing to brag about.

Lashes with NO mascara

Lashes with TWO coats

Would I recommend it?: Not at all. I would hold out for the Lash Extreme plumper. Click the link below to visit the video review.

I generally don’t like Max Factor products.

  • Sara

i used the general 2000 calorie one and i loved it. it gave me nice big bold lashes and never came off.

  • ladebelle

hmm… thanks for this… i’m a mascara junkie and am willing to try just about everything…

i think my all time favorite is Benefit’s BadGal. It makes my lashes both thick AND long.

i have a purple urban decay coming soon…i hope i like that one too!

Beauty Talk–> Really? I've really only played around with their mascaras. Why don't you like them? Tell meeee! ;)

Sara–> I've heard good things about the bigger one!

Ladebelle–> And I still haven't tried BadGal. Yikes! I need to hop to it. I wasn't an enormous fan of UD's colored mascaras. It was a bit stinky and the formula wasn't that hot. But the color was amazing! I hope they work a little better this go round.

PJD–> Well, what can I say? You're always lookin' out for me. LOL!

I love mascara, it one of my everyday items that I wear. The Mascara that I have had the best luck with is Loreal Volume Shocking Mascara. For me this is the best mascara ever! I will not buy anything else.

Hmm, any luck with finding extreme plumper – I’m waiting to get it and I’m hoping it’s better than last blast. Hope you find it (and review it) soon! :)

You should give the original, straight-brush version a try. I used it last night for the first time in a while, and it gave me such a dramatic look – great length, volume, pigment – with minimal clumping. I have straight lashes and rarely curl them, but it looked like I had with this mascara. Can't imagine how awesome it would look if I curled them too :D
