Amor de Lacquer: Zoya’s Twist Collection, Part 1

Welcome to another post of Amor de Lacquer….the series all about nail polish and nail care! Send me your requests, suggestions and ideas to Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

If I could be BFFs with a nail polish collection, I am thinking that Zoya’s Twist would be it! What a fun Spring collection. It offers a little something for every one. And of course, I think it is brown girl friendly. I have been getting quite a few emails/comments about “polishes that work for brown skin”. You know me—I think we can rock anything! But for yall’s sake, I will identify the polishes that aren’t as flattering on us. How’s that sound?

First up, Cassi. This color is described as a shimmering soft pink and I agree. It is just that! I was happy to have it as I don’t have any color in my collection like it. I think I would prefer it more on the toes than my fingers but she is a beaut nonetheless.

Now we have, Malia! Ohmigoodness, I love this color. I knew I would love it for two reasons alone: it’s purple and it’s a creme. My weakness!! And it doesn’t help that it has the same name as my darling baby cousin, Malia Obama. This color is described as a violet creme and man oh man does it look beautiful. It looks like one of those pastel easter eggs. My loctician couldn’t stop complimenting me when she saw me in this color.

If purple is my favorite nail polish color than grays would probably come in at a close second. I can’t get enough of them and Harley rocks my heart. This soft shimmering gray looks divine! I thought it would look like O.P.I.’s Sheer Your Toes but it is a more intense shade of gray and I think I prefer this one better. It’s an unexpected color from a nail polish Spring collection but I adore it.

Got your eye on any of these babies here? Buy these and more for $6/bottle at Zoya.com. Or better yet, get the Sampler for only $36! Stay tuned for Part 2 of Zoya’s Twist Collection.

I absolutely love Malia on you!

  • The Pretty Brown Girl

    I love that color “Malia”.

I haven’t found too many nail colors that DON’T look good against my brown skin. All this melanin ROCKS! :)

  • rmcandlelight

Malia and Harley is absolutely gorgeous. I just put them on my wish list. I never thought about wearing gray nail polish until I start seeing it on several nail polish blogs. I think you are right brown skin can wear any color. Cassi looks pretty good on you.
I see your nails are growing:)

lol @ your “baby cousin Malia”, I think I’m going to adopt her and Sasha as my baby cousins also, lol. I love that color along w/ the Harley!

  • Ms. Aja B.

I love that Cassi! It looks like the perfect spring/summer color. Is it a creme? Or is it more sheer? I couldn’t really tell from your pic.

I will have to rock Malia at some point on GP! LOL! I can’t really do purples to work, but on my toes? No doubt!

  • Girl, Decorated

I am absolutely entranced by Malia (the polish and its namesake) and may make that my very first Zoya purchase. (I have oodles of OPI, China Glaze, and even some Misa and other brands, but as of yet, no Zoya. I have a TON of Zoya lemmings, though.)

Thanks so much for the swatches – let us know how it wears over time!

  • Fashion’s Darling

omg these colors are beautiful! looks like I’ll have to scoop up Malia though, cuz you know purple’s my color haha
