FOTD Friday: The Minimalist Look

Happy Friday, family! We’ve made it!! This week happened to be extra crazy for me. Because of inauguration and business travels last week, I had a lot of catching up to do. Which is tiring and a little stressful but who am I to complain? Life is still good, peeps!

This FOTD (face of the day) is not terribly unique or creative but it a reflection of how I’m feeling. In fact, I don’t think I’ve done a bold look since New Year’s Eve celebrations. Yikes! And I still can’t tear myself away from MAC’s Girl About Town. This lipstick paired with a simple eye is amazing—even for work, I think.

The headwrap and bright lips bring out a little pop in a otherwise pretty boring look.

What’s your favorite “POP” product? A bright liner? Lipstick? Blush? Tell me!

Have a wonderful weekend, family.

I love it. I think it’s great for work. I admire how u have such bold African-American features and u don’t use ur make-up to try to hide them or tone them down. Instead u try to make them POP! I love it. I wish my grandma was so brave. Make’s me a little less self-conscious about my “big nose!” Thanks for the inspiration! And 2 answer ur Q, I use my eyeliner/mascara and shadow to make my eyes POP! :-)

My pop look is usually mascara…since I really don’t wear makeup -I just buy

  • Harlem Loves…

Yay! We use the same shade concealer which should mean your lipstick shades will work pretty well on me too!

I’m so buying Girl About Town

    Thank you.

My go to “POP” products are very simple. Black liner on my waterline, black mascara, and some super shiny clear gloss. There is no color going on here so u wouldn’t think “POP” but it works and is great in a rush.

Girl About Town is also my favorite “Pop” product. I also wore it yesterday with the exact same eyeliner (Urban Decay 24/7 in zero)! Great minds and all that. :) I wear mine without liner and a clear gloss over so that it’s a bold fuschia. Love it!

  • Bella

Hermana, you look dashing!!! You always do. So tell me: you think Shadow Insurance is better than UD’s Potion?

Green eyeliner and bright lips are my pop. I bought “Girl About Town” after reading your blog and whenever I wear it I get complimented.

  • MzBrowneyez901

Okay, so I am going to try at that Girl About Town lipstick today on my lunch break. The first time I saw it that color, was on Ateyaa’s youtube page where she raved about it so much but at the time, I was not too into to lipsticks… only lipglass/lipgloss. But it’s worth a try!
