Mascara Monday: Lumene Blueberry Curl mascara

Happy Monday, my darlings! I hope that those celebrating in the U.S. had a wonderful 4th of July. My Mommy came down from North Florida to visit and we had a ball!

I have received several requests to review this mascara. Some are a few months old. But it’s not because I forgot! I really couldn’t find it! A stroll down Ulta had this mascara calling my name so behold…..

Lumene Blueberry Curl mascara

Price: 5 out of 5 (I got it for $9.99 at Ulta)
Packaging (Brush Wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What it claims: Perfectly voluminous lashes with the power of Nordic nature! A mascara which combines unique Finnish blueberry seed oil with the exceptional characteristics of an innovative plastic mascara brush. (source)

The truth:
It doesn’t smell like blueberries but woooow, it’s good!!

What I loved about it: Well for starters, the wand rocks. This may be one of the best wands that I have ever used. The bristles are just perfect. It looks like Cover Girl’s Lash Blast wand but better….the bristles are longer making separation of the lashes easy.

What I didn’t like: Shucks man….this mascara would get a 5 if only it lasted throughout the day! Boooo!

Overall: I first heard about Lumene’s Blueberry Curl mascara from Vanessa at Contests and Such. And of course my first question was, “Does it smell like blueberries?” Blackberry seed oil is used in this mascara and aside from it helping curl your lashes, it is also supposed to keep them stronger and healthier. This is definitely the kind of mascara you would want to use over time to see if they indeed become stronger and longer.

Ahhh….what I can say? Initial application is amazing. You can apply up to three coats of this mascara without any clumps. Already amazing in my book. Even the curl factor is up to par. And that says a lot since the average mascara doesn’t really “curl”.

But the real problem is that the mascara looses its “umph” throughout the day. While my lashes look long and curl-tastic now, a few moments outside in the Floridian heat and the mascara seems to just wither away. It isn’t as hard as most mascaras. But that’s just me. I would imagine ladies in other climates or with less oily skin would not have this issue.

Lashes without mascara
(did NOT curl lashes)

Lashes with 2 coats of mascara

Would I recommend it?: I do. It really does deliver the curl factor. And maybe it will hold up better on you than it did on me.

A crazed mascara reviewer,

  • NaturallyNewbie

I love this mascara on you and your lashes look very full. I gotta go and try this mascara.

  • Askmewhats

awww funny thing, just by reading the title, I was expecting a blue mascara! :) your lashes look full and lovely!

  • KissyFace Artistry

Any mascara that has qualities similar to Covergirl Lashblast is worth trying. I love it. And from the pictures,I like how the lashes are separate. Really nice:-)

  • Product Junkie Diva

HAHAHA I scrolled down and looked at the pics and I said wow I love what it did for her lashes- then I saw the text where you said that was the pic BEFORE you applied
Either way I like this mascara on you.
In response to your comment I sided with the Lancome because that Maybelline one was clumping like there is no tomorrow. However I could drop both of them for the Maybelline Stiletto mascara.

    Hey, B!
Thanks for the shout-out, girl! I'm glad you like it!
I didn't really notice the mascara not lasting all day, maybe it is the climate?

  • whiteroseofpa215

  • Bong_Hits_For_The_Mistress

For some reason I'm interested in this mascara but I'm heading to Walgreens tomorrow after the doctor so I probably won't find it there. xD

NaturallyNewbie—> Not bad, uh? I think you'll like it!

Nikki—> LOL, I know right? It should be blue. How cool would that be?

KissyFaceArtistry—> The separation is pretty darn good! And I love that the wand looks similar to Lash Blast. In fact, I think it's better!

ProductJunkieDiva—> LOL, you are so silly!! My lashs have been looking a lot better in the past few months. I don't know what that can be attributed to but I ain't complainin', yo!

Nessa—> No problem, lady! Yeahhhh, I think it not lasting on me has a lot to do with the yucky Floridian humidity.

whiterose—> Yay!! I'm so glad you like it.

Anon—> Finland in the house!! LOL! I haven't tried any other products from Lumene. If you have any recs, please let me know. :)

Milan—> LOL, I know, right? They should also have a Blackberry mascara for Blackberry users. HA!!

Bong—> Shucks…no, you won't be able to find it. But there are a TON of other hot mascaras that you can find in the drugstore.

  • Hiikka

Hahahh I was laughing like little girl (I'm 35) when I hit to this review. I used lumene's product from 80's (and when I was little my mom had their products)they are from Finland like me and they haven't never ever had mascara what lasted allday. What else products they sell in USA? And I saw they where more cheap in USA than in Finlad… :(

  • B

Hiikka—> Wow, this mascara was out in the 80's? How cool is that? And I didn't know they were from Finland. You are teachin' me a lot, lady.
