Mascara Monday: Maybelline Full ‘N Soft

I have finally gotten around to reviewing one of THEE most commonly requested mascaras. And I “think” this completes my reviews of ALL Maybelline mascaras currently in stores. Well, except Lash Discovery and Unstoppable. What do you think? Should I review those?

Maybelline Full ‘N Soft

Price: 5 out of 5 (around $7.99 )
Packaging (Brush Wand): 2 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What it claims: “This mascara builds full, soft thick lashes without the brittle feel.

* Prevents loss of lashes with patented Quick Dissolve System that allows easy mascara removal
* No clumps, no globs
* Contact lens safe and hypoallergenic
* Washable; also available in waterproof formula ” (source)

The truth:
Whoa! My lashes really are soft!

What I loved about it: I don’t know why–but I was shocked that my lashes actually stayed soft the entire day. Talk about upholding your claim, Maybelline. That’s friggin’ awesome!

What I didn’t like: Soft….YAY! Full….eh. And the wand is a big boy!

Overall: So I can see why so many of you requested this mascara. It probably stared you down. While you were glancing at the newer mascaras on the market, Mr. Full ‘N Soft was like,
“Hey!! Check me out….I’m old but I’m gold, baby.”

I know I’m not the only one that hears mascaras talking to them.

LOL, I’m kidding y’all. Kinda.

But yeah…Maybelline Full ‘N Soft is not bad. I will say that it isn’t GREAT for me because I desire darker lashes with more volume but this baby is perfect for everyday looks. If I happen to head to the gym after work, I don’t have to worry about it smudging and flaking. You’ll get some length. But not much. I like to think of this mascara as more of a “lash enhancer” if anything. If your lashes are already crazy long and full (then I hate you….lol, j/k) this would be perfect for you!

I should also mention that because it’s soft you don’t have to worry about any flaking. Most mascaras make your lashes hard. When they are hard and brittle you risk them [lashes] breaking and mascara residue falling in your eyes. Eww is right!!

Contact wearer or an allergic sufferer who is always eye-rubbing? Maybelline Full ‘N Soft would work for you too!!

Random photo! Had to conceal my tattoo for church. It rubbed off a bit HA!

Would I recommend it?: Absolutely!

soft lashes? I am game! I hate it when mascara makes my lashes "crunchy"!

  • Krasey Beauty

Have I told you lately how much I love you? Haha, I have never been a drug store mascara kind of gal, but your reviews definitely make me consider making the plunge and trying something new.

  • Amber

Ohh, the memories!! I used to use this back in high school (I'm now a college grad so that's long enough to qualify as "back in the day"). I liked it when I was a makeup beginner, but now I like a little more drama in my lashes. Nevertheless, seeing this made me smile :)

I tried this out and reviewed it back when I first started doing YT vids! I'm in complete agreeance with you on your results, I will still occasionally wear this – it does have ease of application as a plus, also. I too just want more length out of it.

Nikki—> I know, right! And I get that a lot too.

KB—> Girl, hush your mouth. I LOOOOVE drug store mascaras. I've played around with the higher end ones but I've always found more success with the drug store babies.

Amber—> LOL @ the mascara nostalgia. I love it.

Nicole—> Give us length or give us…volume. LOL!!! I'm such a dork. :)

  • Daba

    Great review!

  • Tonda

I love this mascara, just recently begin using it. You're right, it's great for every day looks.

  • B

    Daba—> Thank you, darling!

    Tonda—> It's not too shabby, uh? :)

  • vlrossi

    I love the mascara reviews!

  • giselle

this is my everyday mascara..i want something better but this seems like the only thing that holds my curl.

btw, i bought this at my local Dollar Tree! So if you're a fan of FS, check it out. They weren't old tubes either, so yay!

I went out on a limb and bought this mascara, because I am getting contacts soon and am working on taking HUGE care of my eyes, and this looked good for contacts.
This mascara is AMAZING. I swear, if I were you it would be a 6 out of 5! With one light stroke of the wand my lashes were coated, soft, clump-free, and thick. I already have long and thick lashes, mind you, so I can see how this worked better for me than you.
Anyways, for anyone with contacts, sensitive eyes, allergies, a craving for a natural look, or already good lashes, this is SO the thing for you!

I use this one everyday as my "base" but then I also use the YSL Volume one over it because my Asian lashes need more thickness.

This was the very first mascara I ever used though and it was one of the few that held my curl as well.

@giselle I usually buy it when it's the BOGO price at Rite Aid or CVS because then it's a really good deal.

    hey B,
i really luv your reviews, theyr so organized and i love how u put before and after pics!!! anyhoo, i know that you used the waterproof version of the full n soft on the video review and i was just wondered if i should swim in these. im trying to find a mascara waterproof enough for swimming but wont kill my lashes. thnx :) (ps: you should review the estee lauder double wear lenthening mascara, gives lots of length)

I have really long lashes, and you’re right, this is perfect for me. I can’t afford non drug store mascara, and this is my favorite. It really seems to blacken my lashes but keeps them super soft for mascaraed eyes.

For girls with longer eyelashes,it works really well. Kind of makes a “fan” of eyelashes. Beautiful.
