Beauty Review: L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil

I will PayPal 50 cents to the first person who can pronounce L’Occitane correctly. Skype me now! LOL, I’m kidding really but I won’t even tell y’all what I first called this glorious brand of soaps when I first saw a store in Orlando’s Mall of Millenium. Just so there is no confusion, it is pronounced….
Locks-a-ton

I am right, aren’t I? HA! Anyway—I HAVE to share with you the wonderfulness (is that a word?) that is this oil. I bet you’ll be double clicking your mouse like mad trying to order it online after reading my review. Words really can’t do it justice but *deep breath* I’m going to try!

L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil

Price: 3 out of 5 (2.5 oz for $8 and 8.4 oz for $22)
Packaging: 5 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5

What it claims:
“Transforms into a lavish, softening foam–original and unique in texture–that leaves a satin-like softness all over the body. Rich in almond oil and nourishing lipids. Cleanses gently to impart a delectable perfume. Keep handy in bath or shower as an extra-pampering alternative to Shea Butter Soap and our fragrance Soap. Suitable for men and women.” (source)

The truth:
What in the….how does oil foam up? It’s magic, I tell ya!!

What I loved about it: The foaming action, the smell, the packaging, wooooow.

What I didn’t like:
Now y’all know I’m going to complain about the price. That’s just my nature. I’m a budget-conscious mama so I can’t help it. The price is a little “wowsers” but I can’t even shower without this stuff now so I have to save up to keep repurchasing it.

Overall: L’Occitane is one of those brands that you may not know much about unless you know someone who uses the products an loves french soaps. L’Occitane is French-based company with a dynamic story. Most importantly, they understand the importance of natural and organic infusions in beauty; namely skincare. I could preach all day about this company but you can get your learn on by reading up about them here.

So with this being my first L’Occitane product I can proudly say, I can not WAIT to dabble around with some of their other products. This almond shower oil is amazing! How can something so light an weightless bring so much joy in the shower?
I’ll show you….
The nozzle of the oil looks like this:

It distrbutes the right amount of oil in the palm of your hand. When it first pours out, it looks like your average oil. It has the consistency of extra virgin olive oil.
It is golden yellow in color and decadent in smell. I love that it isn’t TOO strong. I like to use this after a body wash and the two scents never clash.
Spread the oil around a bit and it gets a little thick. It gives you that same feeling you would get if you, say….applied too much body wash to your skin. See!
A bit more rubbing around and what do you get? Foaming homie goodness!

Yeah, don’t ask me how that happens but it feels absolutely amazing on the skin. Oils already feel great when you apply them but on warm and wet skin in the shower? Giiiiirl, it gives me life, I tell ya! And when you rinse it off, your skin is left smooth and feels revived. This is the next best thing to a trip to the spa.

Until you step out of the shower and realize you’re late for work. HA!
I.Love.It. Immensely, that is. L’Occitane=french soap heaven and I can’t wait to play around with more of their soaps.
Have you tried this oil? Or anything else from L’Occitane?
Whatcha think?

Just so you know we're actually a French based company. Almost all our products come from France. We do have boutiques and an online store in the UK.

Loved your review. We tweeted about it at http://twitter.com/LOCCITANE

I love L'Occitane! I use their olive-lavender soap & shea butter body cream all of the time. It is expensive, but a little goes a long way!
Can't wait to try this shower oil!!

You know, Eucerien has a shower oil now too. Have you seen it?

I <3 L'Occitane! They cost a bit much, but all their stuff smells so, so good. Too bad they don't have any stores in SC. :( I was just at the one in Charlotte earlier this week. I am wearing their Bergamot Tea perfume right now, as a matter of fact. The Lavender Bath Salts are my favorite L'Occitane product, though.

I love L'occitane. It's one of the few brands that offer the complete range within europe.
I don't mean to be picky but it's pronounced Lock-see-tan. It refers to some regions in the south of france where occitan was spoken. I actually live in an occitan region..midi-pyrenees. They still teach occitan in school here and a lot of the older generations still speak it. It's slowly dying out :(

Keep up the good work on your blog. I really love your detailed reviews :)
