So…what do you think?

Happy Saturday, sweetums!

I am up super early to head out in the streets to run. I love running outside and can only do it on the weekends. I have been unofficially training for this 5K and lemme tell y’all…if I can do it, anyone can. This coming from a chick who at one point could bar

ely run for 5 seconds.

But I’ll save that talk for a 50 Million Pound challenge post.

What I really need is your opinion and advice.

Do you like Clumps’ new layout? Or do you hate it? What would you change? What do you love? Or miss? Click on the preview below to be be taken to our little survey. Be honest. It is completely anonymous. You all’s opinions mean A LOT to me. Help me help you.

And a very happy birthday to my sister Courtney who turns 20 today!!

Ciao for now, kiddos! Have a great weekend.

Sorry Babes, but I like the old layout better … L-ve the logo though … :))

  • DIYNAD – Do It Yourself Nail Art Designs

I agree, it looks rather bland now; it has a "default layout" kind of look. The logo is cute, but this layout doesn't stand out like your old one did. :(

  • Moni

I LOVE the new logo, but HATE the new layout. This one seems more generic, especially the color scheme, while the other one seemed tailor made for COM. I agree with everyone who says that the other layout stood out more.

I have to agree with the other posters, I'm not in love with this layout. It does have a "default" look to it.

Hey chicas, I really appreciate the feedback. It is realllllly helping me. Hot pink isn't as professional as a background with me trying to take Clumps to higher height. It's a struggle trying to stay true to me (and y'all) while being taken seriously.

    Stay tuned!

The header is ginormous. All the content gets shoved WAY down the screen. If you want to feature the Clumps logo at that size, make that the first thing in the righthand column and REALLY minimize the header-bar. Pull that content above the fold. If you want to have a rotating-content feature – technical widget name is "carousel" – put it as the first thing in the righthand column, and make the pictures smaller. It shouldn't visually dominate your page – well, maybe your home page, if your home page is utterly different from every other page in the site (more like a newspaper's landing page).

Who says a black background is professional and a hot-pink one isn't? There was a time when black background and green text was "professional". Then it was white background and blue elements. Color is secondary to professional, unless it's garishly clashing (neon blue and bright orange, for example) or incredibly ugly. If you want a hot pink background, go with a hot pink background. Having the hot pink background will not be what keeps people from taking you seriously…but if you really think it will, tone the pink down just a few notches (halfway between the "makeup site pink" and hot pink.)

The black-on-white main area is very readable. That bit was the same in the old layout, though, wasn't it? Or largely dark text on white background (for the individual entries?)

The rotating element in the header is eyecatching, all right…but again, it's too dang big. It pushes the actual content too far down the page.

There's *too much* movement in the header. It keeps distracting from my reading the text, when I do have it on the page while I'm reading an entry. I can get rid of the distraction if I scroll down far enough…but if something's too distracting, I won't come back…or, worse (from future advertisers' point of view), your all-singing all-dancing header distracts your readers from the message your content may be trying to send.

Love you just as much, don't love the new layout just as much…. :(

I totally understand where you are coming from – wanting to look more professional – but you are a beauty/health driven site – you are allowed to be COLORFUL and snazzy. There is a fine line between professional and um, drab?

The header especially – needs to say WOW to make people want to explore the rest of the site. The logo all the way to the left and on a stark white background looks unfinished. And unfinished looks LESS professional. The hot pink, creative and colorful old one looked like it took way more time and thought – and that says professionalism. Did that make sense?
Ugh, I don't know – I am not much help with my babble. I know you will get there…just keep tweaking! You will figure it out, and when you do it will be faaaaabulous!

ps – I agree that there is a little TOO much movement at the top…distracting. Can that be placed elsewhere?

Hang in there..change is hard, but always leads to better things!

  • Kizzy

I love your new lay out! I like the white background. It's 'clean' and it makes your entries easy to read :)

a refreshing makeover! gon' girl! and.. yessss! the layout is still in chronological order and not broken up by category 😉

  • Miss Pretty

    Some people can't handle change!

I love it! I support you fully in whatever choices/changes you want to make. You can't stay in the same place forever.

    Keep Growing! Keep Learning!

Love the logo. However, its hard to see if because its covered by the line with the links. The top needs to be readjusted.
