Brown & Blushin': The brown girl’s must have

| February 11, 2010 | 26 Comments

Please excuse me for just NOW reviewing a product that has been a staple in my stash for like….two years now. I mean, it’s very rare that you catch me NOT wearing it. It is the blush love of my life. It is…

MAC’s Sweet As Cocoa

I don’t know who introduced me this majestic powder but I am eternally grateful to them. Check out how I apply and wear it.

I wear Sweet As Cocoa just about every day. It goes right on top of my concealer and gives me that minimal coverage that I feel like I need. Even though I don’t wear foundation, I still like to even out my skintone just a wee bit. Sweet As Cocoa works beautifully because it a notch or two darker than my skint one but gives the bronzer-effect.

See…

I usually apply it with a kabuki-like brush from the tail of my brow to my cheeks.

Cheek without Sweet As Cocoa

Cheek WITH Sweet As Cocoa

See the difference! If I’m feeling like a little more color, I’ll dab another blush with more color on the apples of the cheeks. I think Sweet As Cocoa is the perfect introductory blush for the woman of color who STILL thinks she can’t wear blush. But it’s quite simple, brown girls…you NEED MAC’s Sweet As Cocoa.

Run run…get it now. Thank me later. :)

Anyone have Sweet As Cocoa? Tell me you love it as much as I do…

It is such a pretty color blush! How many times do you apply the blush? Is it one swipe or do you have to apply more than once?

And your skin looks gorgeous! I am still waiting for my scars to fade. I am in the process of trying to find the right skin regime.

  19. S.L.I.M. says:

I was at my cco today and saw this color and I remembered how many times I've seen this blush come up in your fotd. I wanted to try it but since I'm just getting into wearing blushes I was scared to try because of the dark color. I have a lighter complexion and wasn't sure what to do with it. I always thought of bluses as pinks, plums and corals. I think I will pick it up on my next trip though.

  20. ashleygrnt says:

Can Sweet as Cocoa be compared to NARS Lovejoy?

  21. SoFrolushes says:

This blush looks so nice. I am going to find a way to justify the splurge. In the meantime I will try and see if I can find an alternative

  22. Lauryn King says:

OMG! I was a makeup artist for M.A.C. before I went away to college and I promise this was my favorite blush…good choice mija!!!

  23. BrooklynShoeBabe says:

I am one of those black women who feels she can't wear blush, but I do want on occasion. That MAC blush looks very nice. Sometimes I want more of a rosy tone to my cheeks as opposed to brown on brown. So far, I keep eying N.Y.C. mosaic wheel in red as an answer to this v. low grade dilemma.

  24. Ms. Deety says:

    It looks beautiful on you!

  25. scrapandthecity says:

    I have it! LOVES IT!

  26. Edyne says:

I just went out and got this- I AM IN LOVE!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! I don't wear tons of make-up on the regular, I wear mascara, pressed powder chapstick and I'm out the door but this- THIS has become apart of my regiment since I got it.
