Ms. Manicure Handy Dandy Mani set

| June 30, 2010 | 13 Comments
Here’s a pretty regular conversation between me and my girlfriends.

Friend: Hey B, let’s go and get our nails done.

Me: *side eye* Nah uh…that costs too much money. I’m trying to save money for, you know…life and stuff.

Friend: Really B? Come on! I know this place that only charges $10 for manicures and $15 for pedicures.

Me: $25?! You know what I could get with that? Two weeks worth of veggies, gas in my car, I could save up for a trip, *insert rambling*

It’s true. I’m THAT friend. The frugal one. The one that hasn’t gotten her nails done in a year because she’d rather save money and do them at home herself.

*insert Handy Dandy Mani set*

Now this is more my style! For $10, you can whip your nails into shape without breaking the bank. And you know the tools are clean because…they’re yours!

What comes in the set…

That’s everything you need! Except the nail polish which Mama knows I have enough of that. Some time ago I did a video of my At Home Manicure routine.

Do you do your nails at home too? You’ll definitely need the Handy Dandy Mani set. Click here to find out where you can get it.

Wow! $25? The places around here, its at least $40!! The cheapest I ever heard was $35. And that's the exact reason why I don't do my nails. Too expensive. I hope you do more nail care series. I have terrible dry nails.

Oh, I've hardly EVER get my nails done at salons because it's so expensive, I might as well use that money to buy new nail polish (YAY!) and do it myself :)

    I love the mani set!

    LOL, "::side eye::".

I used to get my nails done but the OCD in me hated the results 5 minutes after I left the salon! When I had acrylics my husband would roll his eyes that right after I'd get home from a fill-in I'd be taking off the polish and doing it over myself!!!

Talk about a waste of money!!!

I dont spend money to get manis especially because my nails chip every time within 4 days. If its gonna chip in 4 days , I can do it at home. Plus I really dont like nailpolish on my hands like that. Now my feet get done 1x a month in hot months, and I change the colors in between.

When I go its either $20. Or $24 for a mani pedi plus tip…I live in the Bronx and I've learned that the prices are better in urban areas just keep in my how sanitary the place is. …BUT do not be fooled into thinking that those expensive salons are cleaner…they may look that way on the surface lol.

Normally to my mother and my nails done it averages out to $40 and that's with a very good tip (this is acrylic nails including mani). I don't get a pedi because I don't like anyone touching my feet. I've been doing my own nails since I was 15 and later on went to nail tech school to in hopes to become a nail tech (which taught me the proper ways of cleaning your implements, etc).
Although my mother still gets her nails done at a nail shop I find that doing my own not only saves me money, but I don't have to wait for a scheduled appt which makes it well worth doing them at home.

I'm all for DIY manicures. With that money I could be buying way more polish and doing it myself. Yup. But I'm a but a little lacquer obessed…

I have no finger nails, as I bite them. I only do pedicures during the summer, maybe twice. I just like the time I get to spend alone with someone else pampering me.

Nice video. I've heard of that cuticle cream. I'm going to have to try it.
I've never had a PRO manicure. I just started doing my own in Dec. :) I'm loving it.
Love your blog. I have been following with bloglines but decided to follow you through Google Friend Connect so you would have another follower there but not that you need one. LOL.
Oh and I'm having a brand new giveaway on my blog. I just started it yesterday.

Hey, I have had you linked on my blog forever and read yours but i am a bad blog reader that rarely posts… anyway thought i would be more vocal so you would know who i was. i love that kit. i don't pay for people to do my nails anymore but not only because of the price, its because i dont think i could trust anyone to be as clean as i am myself.people dont take their jobs seriously anymore and being clean at places like that is serious

    Susie—> Thanks!

justme—> No apologies needed, darling. It's hard to be an active blogger AND read blogs. Sheesh, it's like another job. And right you are, I love the safety that comes with doing my own nails and toes!
