Dental Beauty: Colgate’s Optic White toothpaste

My dentist and I are good friends. She applauds me for having the most impeccable rows of teeth that she’s ever seen and I bring her beauty goodies. Fair trade if I do say so myself. Okay, soooo…I’m exaggerating. I don’t have THEE most impeccable rows of teeth. But considering I’ve never had braces or professional bleach jobs OR anything other than a cavity filling (hate me yet?), I’d say my dental beauty is up to par. Even more so now that I’ve got Colgate Optic White.

This toothpaste promises to give your teefs the white strips effect. This has me through the roof. I’m not a fan of white strips. There, I said it. Perhaps my teeth are super sensitive but the few times that I used them, I was left in tears. My teeth were so painfully sensitive that even eating hurt. I am so glad to see a better alternative. With the same whitening ingredients as the white strips, Colgate Optic has been a total BFF in my cabinet.

But even better than that is the Optic White toothbrush with whitening cups.

This toothbrush is sheer awesomeness.

Have I noticed a huge improvement in how white my teeth are? Not yet. But I reckon with a few more weeks, I’ll be singing braces to the Colgate Optic family. In the meantime, if you’re in market for a new toothbrush and toothpaste, I highly recommend giving Colgate Optic White a whirl. They don’t hit stores until September but when they do, run to your nearest drugstore and snag ‘em with the quickness.

What do you think? Are you a friend of white strips or would you rather get the same effect from a toothpaste?

    I brush my teeth about 5 times a day… I like a clean mouth. ;] I’ll have to give this a try!

    • Brittany

I’m sure your dentist has NO complaints!

Great information! I would rather get what I need from a toothpaste and tooth brush. I don’t want to be bothered with extra steps. You got me thinking about trying it out.

    • Brittany

It hits stores in September. Be on the look out for it. :)

If you have a Safeway in Southwest (Arizona) theey have it and this week at CVS you can get it for 2.99 and get the $2 bonus bucks after purchase.

Thanks for the heads up on this toothpaste and toothbrush! I’ve tried whitening gels and they hurt my teeth!

    • Brittany

This is such a better alternative to the strips. I’m loving Optic White!

I have a toothbrush just like that. It’s a bit odd and takes some time to get used to. But I think I’m getting the hang of it.

    • Brittany

I know what you mean. This toothbrush did take some time getting used to but now I’m lovin’ it!

I’m going off of a press release that says it will be available nationwide in September. I’m thinking some locations are getting them a little earlier.

  • Jason

I just bought it today at Target. It was in an end cap display on the tooth paste aisle.

    • Brittany

Yay! Glad to see they’re in stores!

    Brittany:
I am unclear…did you use the paste on the toothbrush shown here? so the 2 together is the best way to go? BTW, on sale at Rite Aid thru 9/3 for 2.99 each.

    • Brittany

For best results, using the toothbrush with the toothpaste is the best way to go.

I bought this toothpaste this past weekend at walmart, it was on sale for $2.28 or something. Sadly, I don’t like this product. It made my tongue numb and it had a terrible after taste that lingered way after brushing. Perhaps there’s something in it that I am allergic to, but I’ll be sticking to the Aquafresh Extreme Clean Whitening :o(

Just snagged this product at the local Family Dollar store here in Virginia, 5.5oz size, $2 everyday price…

I have had the expensive professional teeth whitening done sitting in an office for an hour or so, but soon after with all the coffee, red sauce, red wine, occassional colas, and anything else that stains they get dull and start yellowing/restaining…I don’t like the stips, can’t afford them anyway…

I noticed a difference with the first use, really stripped the teeth of surface stains and left the teeth definately a bit whiter….my only complaint is the aftertaste, but if the product works like it is advertised, it is a minor inconvenience, plus, the price is really righteous, I have avoided all other products because of their much higher costs…

Going back today to buy many more tubes, can’t beat the $2 price for 5.5oz…

For those on a budget you can’t go wrong.

I’ve been using the toothpaste for a few days, and I really like it. My teeth look and feel so clean, and once I rinse thoroughly, I don’t detect any aftertaste at all.

tried this for 2 weeks. Worked pretty good, cleans teeth and does make them whiter… but it made my teeth a bit sensitive to eating after 2 weeks. will have to switch back to aquafresh :(

I’ve used this toothpaste for the last few days and notice now that the metal-type bracket thing on my crowned molar is VERY sensative to cold! My other teeth don’t seem to be bothered by it, but man my crown wants to divorce me everytime I drink something cold. Did you notice anything like that?

      • Brittany

Nope, I haven’t experienced any sensitivity. Then again, I don’t have any crowns.

  • Heather

I have had nothing but a horrible experience with this toothpaste. Used it for 3 days and broke out in horrible canker sores all over my mouth and tongue. I have been in immense pain for over a week, even having to take time off work I was in so much pain. I am currently taking otc pain meds which really don’t help and using a prescription mouth wash from my dentist to help numb my mouth so I can eat. Also put on antibiotics since my gums became infected after the skin fell off them. And this is only after 3 days of using it! BUYER BEWARE! I am not the only person to have these results…read through the complaints on the Comsumer Affairs webpage. I hope I can at least save one person from the pain and suffering I’ve had to deal with after using this product.
