Wow wow wow, looks like COVERGIRL is hitting us with not one but TWO new mascaras this summer season. These brands crack me up. They’ll be quiet for months on the mascara front and within month they’ll start releasing a bunch at a time. Not that I’m complaining but it doesn’t make me chuckle a bit.
Word on the beauty bloggin’ street (because you don’t know there’s a street, right? 😉 ) is that Lash Perfection is supposed to be a lot like Max Factor’s Volume Couture mascara; which, by the way, was one of my FAVORITE mascaras of all time. When Max Factor left the States so did my ability to purchase them. Needless to say I was super excited to try Lash Perfection. Is it like my beloved Volume Couture mascara?
Price: $5 or so in Walgreens. I had a coupon. Woot!
Packaging (brush wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 3 out of 5
What It Claims: Per packaging…
The Truth: It’s not bad but man…I wanted more.
What I Loved About It: That wand is awesomeness to the 10th degree. If I had to choose an ideal wand for any lady of any skill level, this would be it.
What I Didn’t Like: It’s supposed to be a volumizing mascara but I didn’t get much volume at all.
Overall: I feel like I ALWAYS complain about a mascara not giving me enough volume. But the fact is a lot of mascaras that claim to give a ton of volume simply don’t. Lash Perfection is one of those. But let’s talk about what makes it great…
It separates beautifully. Seriously. If you’ve got super wonky and tangled lashes, the wand on this mascara will set them straight. Especially if you take your time to separate them. It also lengthens a bit. Nothing super dramatic but it does bring my lashes out a bit. It doesn’t clump or flake. Huge bonuses in my book.
But when it comes to giving intense volume? It does not. It’s a great everyday mascara but if you’re looking for something that will really make your lashes stand out, this is not the mascara for you. It also is NOT a build-able mascara meaning once you apply your mascara in the morning, it’s almost impossible to re-apply in the afternoon because it’s dried to a hard finish around your lashes. Not that you’d HAVE to re-apply as it does a decent job at staying on all day.
Still. I wanted more, COVERGIRL. Gimme mooooore!
Lashes with 2 Coats of mascara
Do I recommend it?: Despite it not being my favorite COVERGIRL mascara, I still think it’s worth a purchase simply because of the wand. But if you’re looking for more volume, COVERGIRL Lash Blast is your best bet.
Have you tried this one yet? Whatcha think?
