Introducing…Mr. and Mrs. Clumps of Mascara!

Surprise! Most folx have been like, “Is this a joke, B? We didn’t even know you were dating someone!”  What can I say? I’m not one of those gals that is alwaaaays talking about her boyfriend. It took quite some time for The Guy to make his appearance on Clumps of Mascara. Despite sharing a lot of my life online, there is one thing that I like to keep private…my relationship. Don’t get me wrong. Some bloggers do a great job at publicly talking about their spouses and significant others and posting their pictures from time to time. Simply put…

…that ain’t how I roll. Am I head over heels in love with my best friend? Yup. Do I blog about it? Nope. Our love is our love and quite frankly, I think it’s better expressed between us than over blogs and social media. Especially on Facebook. I also kept my relationship status on Facebook hidden. I’m so old fashioned. I don’t believe in telling the world that you’re in a relationship or shacking up. I know. I’m just weird like that.

The Esposo (Mr .Clumps’ official name b/c I HATE the names Hubs and Hubby) is everything I prayed for. He’s a musical genius that is ridiculously talented in so many areas. He’s the one that stayed up until 2am almost every night to help get Clumps rolling again when a virus attacked it. He supports me when I have beauty events. Whether it’s take pictures or helping me brainstorm, Esposo is there to bring about his geeky commentary. Falling in love with him was just the icing on the cake. Marrying him on 11/11/11 just felt….right.

Many young girls and women have fantasies of having huge weddings with a beautiful white dress and being surrounded by friends and family members. I think that’s a beautiful vision. But unfortunately, it wasn’t what I wanted. Aaaaand, let’s face it. Even budget weddings can be pricey. Call me crazy, but I’d rather pay Sallie Mae off then invest a few thousand dollars in a wedding. Sure we could have asked our parents but at the end of the day, we would have much preferred to do something and private between the two of us. And so we did. Plus, what’s more important? A huge wedding or a debt-free life? Um….yeah.

A lot of our friends and family members were offended that we didn’t invite them. Instead of congratulating us, they questioned WHY we were doing it this way. I get it. I get that people wanted to celebrate with us. But at the same time, I hope they realize that the love Esposo and I share trump any overpriced occasion. While we didn’t want to go into debt for a wedding, we also wanted to make something special of our union. I thought I would be bummed out about not having this big ole’ wedding. I thought I’d miss not wearing a wedding dress but I didn’t .

Yep. I wore a t-shirt. Got it on sale for $10. Woot! After our wedding, we went to one of our favorite places…

But of course. I think all brides and grooms (who are big kids) should celebrate their weddings at Disney. The congrats, treats and freebies made the day even better. We were both on cloud nine the entire day. Which is all I could have ever asked for on my wedding date.

I have no regrets and would not have changed a thing. The support of those of us that love us means the world to me. It’s not easy for everyone to understand an un-traditional wedding. Especially in America where many women empty their bank accounts to afford their weddings. I’m glad we did it this way. I like the idea of focusing on a marriage first instead of the wedding. And who says we can’t have a wedding somewhere down the line?  We plan to take couple pictures soon and have a slew of mini honeymoons that we plan to take in 2012. New Orleans and the Bahamas are up next!

I’m happy. And those who have been around Esposo and I can see that. A few years ago I labeled myself as chronically single. I attended the weddings of friends and while happy for them, I questioned if there was someone out there for me. While I enjoyed being a single woman, I also thought about falling in love, getting married and starting a family with that special someone.

It’s funny what happens when you just let go.

It’s mega cliche but things really start happening when you least expect it. God’s love and love from friends and family members is the one thing that kept me going when I wanted to give up.

Let love live.

Oh! And folx have been asking me if we have a registry. I recently did one on Target. Feels kinda weird putting it out there but I’ve always been told to not get in the way of people wanting to give.

  • You guys are so so so soooooo cute!!!!!! I love this, I love that you did your own thing and had fun while doing it :) I’m so happy for you and wish you both the best of luck <3 You make a beautiful bride (yes, in that $10 t-shirt!). Awww my heart is all warm and fuzzy now.

    • Shan

Congrats Mr and Mrs Clumps! I wish you all the best. I love the un-traditional wedding. I recenlty starting evaluating life and realizing that I would rather live debt-free than try to live as others would like or expect me to live. Many blessings!!

  • Congrats!! I understand where you’re coming from. And love the way you two celebrated your union.

I’ve never been a big wedding fan for myself so I congratulate you two on not getting caught up throwing a wedding worthy of big studio production costs. I commend and admire that you all focused on what matters most – eachother.

    Congrats and blessings!!

  • Aaawww Congratulations!!! You two are such a cute couple. :)

  • LaToya

Oh, Brittany! I don’t even know you but I am so happy for you. Been reading your blog for a while now.

My husband and I got married though Justice of the Peace when I was eight months pregnant. No friends, no family, just the two of us. We had planned on a wedding until we looked at all the expenses involved. Not to mention the fact that we both lived far away from family so they would have the expense of flying or driving.

But here it is, five years later for us and I wouldn’t change a thing about our “wedding” day.

Congrats to you and your husband. I wish you well on this journey!

  • Mzinspiredmind

Congrats congrats congrats! I am soooooooo happy for u! Absolutely beautiful post!

I’m really proud of you and your husband for following your heart and doing what you both wanted instead of yielding to others’ wishes. When it comes to a wedding, I really think ultimately the right and best decision comes from the two people who are actually getting married!

I’m not married, but I think that one day if I do tie the knot, I don’t think I’d want a traditional or lavish wedding. I’d want to elope and do something really romantic that the two of us can share.

Thanks for blogging about this. You both look really cute together, and your love story is inspirational! :)

  • Brittany, I’m so happy for you both. I wish you all the happiness in the world! Congratulations!!!

  • I’m SO happy for you!!! Those pictures are adorable. Congrats, looks like you’ve found your soulmate. Any guy that;s on board with a blogger is A-Okay!!!!!

  • CONGRATULATIONS, B!!!! So happy for you and the Esposo (I like Mr. Clumps lol). Glad you did it your way.

    You look so happy

  • Congratulations Brittany! I’m so happy for you! I know we’ve tweeted about wedding stuff before, and we both were never to keen on the whole hullabaloo about it all (I hope I spelled that right). Your special day looked perfect! The smiles on your faces warms my heart. I always get worried when the time comes that people will expect some type of huge wedding event for me. I grew up with people who now or are going to have these lavish events. It’s not my style, and this post made me realize I don’t have to do that. I wish you both all the best! Thank you for sharing the great photos. :)

  • MrsCount

Congrats B! Marriage is a wonderful thing, be blessed.

  • Jessica Ferguson

Congrats ^_^ you guys are adorable!

  • Sheryl

Congrats Hunny Bunny!!! So happy for u.

  • OMG! I love reading your story and all the love that went into doing it this way! I’m getting married in April and I totally understand your stands, I’m leaving a lot of cliche stuff out of the wedding because it just seen to commercial, plus it cost too much!
Congratulation on your marriage you guys look super Happy! Can’t wait to see some mini baby Clumps, they will be very beautiful.
BTW: I have never told you but you have a beautiful smile. :-)

  • MsFarrah27

OMG BRITTANY!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!! you both make a beautiful couple and I wish you much love and happiness for your future days:)

Girl, 6 years ago I married the love of my life and guess what? We went to the courthouse, told no one about it except after we were officially husband and wife:) we tried planning the wedding but the stress, opinions, and uhm yeah not wanting to spend thousands of dollars got the best of us.Of course both mom’s and dad’s were upset including other family members and friends but we had to what we had to do. We will be celebrating 7 years of marital bliss this January and I couldn’t be happier!!

  • Kate

Congratulations :) You look so beautiful!

  • Virginia

Congrats! I love that you did the wedding your way instead of doing it huge and going broke. My husband and I got married @ the courthouse and then had a nice celebration at a restaurant. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. You guys are gonna be very happy together!

  • My sister, one of my best friends, my love!

Congrats on this BIG step in your life. You deserve all the happiness in the world! LOVE YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!

  • Gin

WOW! Best wishes to you! You both look SO HAPPY! I think it’s great that you put your love ahead of everything and ignored the pressure to have a big wedding. Mr. Gin and I did that nearly 12 years ago, and I’ve never regretted it a bit.

  • Congratulations, you look so happy!! xx

  • *sigh* this post melted my heart…couldn’t be any happier for the two of you. The fact that you did it your way from beginning to end is a testament to the love you guys share…awesome;)

  • Faida

You are so cute it’s ridiculous! Congrats to you and the Mr. Clumps. Learning from Kim K, it’s about the people, not the wedding!

  • Nana

YASSS!! I noticed a ring in one of your recent nail polish posts, but I didn’t want to get my face cracked if the ring was not a wedding/engagement ring.

Thank you for sharing with us. The post was amazing and I’m so happy you all did your own thing. When I got married, my sister told me to follow my vision and not be swayed by what others had to say. I’ve been trying to tell all of my friends who are getting married the same thing. You never want to look back and be salty because the wedding wasn’t exactly how you wanted it to be.

Congratulations and maybe you have a wedding filled with love, laughter and harmony!

    • Nana

I meant to write “may you have a marriage filled with love, laughter, and harmony.”

Clearly my brain and typing weren’t coordinated. Congrats again!

  • You guys are sooo cute I am totally and completely jealous!
I respect your decision especially since I have seen couples get into financial binds because of a big wedding. Many people forget that it’s the marriage that counts and not the wedding day.
I wish you your Esposo the very best together.

  • Wow! Congratulations!! :)…..very inspiring. You seem like such a genuinely loveable person, so it’s only right that you find someone to complement that! Cheers!! :)

p.s. Love the Mickey Mouse hats! Lol

  • Holly

Awww Congratulations! May God bless your union and may your love continue to grow. You and Esposo came together and did what was best for you and didn’t feed into the hype of pleasing other people. Continue being happy :)

  • Melany

Congratulations! All the best to both you!

  • Patricia S

Congrats! Very happy for the two of you, wish you both the best! :)

  • Congrats to you and Mr. Clumps!!! Wishing you all many years of life, love, light!!

  • Jeana

Congrats! I think it is great that you did your own thing and did not buckle to the pressure of society, family and friends who, while well meaning, try to influence how you express your committment. By the way, we had our honeymoon at WDW and it was a blast.

  • Jasmyne

First off I’d like to say congratulations on your marriage. I’m happy that you found someone that makes you happy.

However, I’d like to comment on the blog from the perspective of a family member that was offended. What was offensive wasn’t the fact that you chose to have a private wedding, it’s the fact that I first learned of your wedding on Twitter. I mean is a text too much to ask for?

Anywho like I said, Congratulations. Alex looks nice and I hope to meet him soon. Love you much.

  • Cinnie

I think those people who were upset need to get a grip, because it is not about them. Your wedding, your day, your way. Being an anti-Bridezilla is nothing but something to be proud of.

You’re beautiful, Tu Esposo is terribly handsome (what a gorgeous smile!), and if you want to get hitched in a t-shirt at Disneyworld, that’s exactly what the whiners should respect.

I wish you all the best, with much love and hopes for happiness, success, health, and peace. <3

  • Cinnie

P.S. I only wish you’d let us know ahead of time so I could have been excited for you in the weeks leading up to it! I’ll just have to be excited for you after the fact, almost as fun!

  • YAYYY!!! I saw your ring in your post the other day but I didn’t want to say anything just in case. Congratulations!! I am SO happy for you girl!

  • yousis that u love ( imani)

I <3 u gurl wish I could see u maybe I can in Orlando this weekend call me

  • 4th picture down is my FAVE! You look SO happy! Congratulations!

  • Jessica

Congratulations!!! You two are so cute (:

  • Congratulations!!! Wishing you and Mr. Clumps the best!! :)

  • Namesake!!! AHHHH!!!! I did the EXACT SAME THING A MONTH AGO!!! me and my now husband were engaged and we decided on a sunday that we would marry that following friday. His pastor married us in a local park/marina. Only our friends were invited. We were more focused on a home and paying off debt then some big hoopla of a wedding… BEST of luck!!!

  • Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you and I wish you the best! It looks like both you and your new husband are sooooooooooo happy! 😀

  • Kristin T

Ohmygoodness congratulations Brittany!!! Im so happy for you! I truly admire your values for wanting to keep certain private because I’m the exact same way. Other the hand, thank you for sharing your good news with all of us. You look so happy and in love! May God bless you, your Esposo, and your marriage!

  • Congrats!! Wishing you both all the best, and seriously, what better way to celebrate than at Disneyland on 11/11/11? :)

  • Congratulations, you two! I believe a wedding is a special occasion to be shared between a bride and groom, and it doesn’t matter if you’re shelling out $20,000 on an expensive reception or not. As long as you both are happy, that’s all that matters! After all, my husband and I eloped because we realized it was about us, and not the dinner we were buying everyone. I’m really happy for you!

  • Wow!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! and WOW!!! again for the unique wedding… Now you’ve got me thinking of what kind of wedding I should have 😛

  • cho cho

I’m so very happy for you! congrats!! this is what a marriage should be all about! thank God! congrats brit!!!

  • victoria

OMG I’m crying I’m so happy for you! I’m totally planning to go city hall when it comes to getting married, it ain’t worth going broke just to please friends and family!

Girl take some time off beauty bloggin and just enjoy yourselves! I’ll buy myself a few Lancome mascaras to keep myself occupied lol

    All the best!

  • Zana

I am happy that you have a love to share in your life.
Congratulations. (I co-sign on the debt thing as well)
    ((( hugs )))

  • Judith

CONGRATULATIONS Mr. and Mrs. Clumps!!!! I am so happy for you! And I like that you keep your relationship private…I respect that!

  • Tiesha

Congratulations! I wish you and your Esposo many years of happiness! My husband and I did a non-traditional wedding as well and it was so much better than being stressed out over one day! Congrats again!!!

  • Enjoli

Congrats!!! This is so awesome! Now you give me ideas for my wedding too as well. You are right about budget weddings STILL being expensive. I will def be looking in to that wonderful idea. Good luck to you and Hubby!

  • Melissa

Congratulations!!!! You two look great together! If you did what YOU wanted on your special day, that is all that matters! You’ll be blessed with many wonderful years together.

  • Lavendar

I’m like in tears over here! It’s not often you get to read about true love anymore. In this day and age when weddings last longer than the marriage, your post is just so awesome and inspiring and full of truth. I hope a lot of young women read your story and think long and hard about what is real between a man and woman and not what they read about or see on TV in “celebrityville.” I got married young, started my family young, and I didn’t have a big wedding either; but I will celebrate 20 years with my best friend in January. To others we seem totally different and people wonder what makes us click, but we still manage to laugh hysterically everyday because we are super silly like that, we still are HOT, HOT, HOT for one another, we have our own secret mental telepathy, and we were obviously made for one another. God is just so good like that. Many Blessings to you and your Esposo for a long, loving life together! HUGS!!!!

  • gio

Congrats! I’m sorry happy for you! You look so cute together!

  • Victoria

Congrats! Love is a beautiful thing, no matter how you choose to get married. Wishing you all the happiness in the world for many years to come!

  • Stacy

I am just sooooo happy for you. At 36 years I see myself getting closer to 40 everyday and the closer I get the more I think that I am “un-wifeable” and will spend my days alone. Hopefully my Prince will show himself one day when I least expect in, but in the meantime I will enjoy the the joy in love through beautiful couples like you and Mr. Clumps. May God bless your union and grace you with many, many years of happiness together.

  • Indigo_Sunshine

Awwwww!! BEAUTIFUL!! BEAUTIFUL!!! Congrats on the nuptials. I don’t want a tradional wedding either. I believe that as long as your day is filled with love and positivity it doesn’t matter how it’s done!

  • OMG> B I love this. I love how you went for the untraditional because it’s YOU! Congratulations in a big way. So happy for you.

  • Congratulations! I love the Disney World pics, and the bride & groom shirts! You look so happy :)

  • Avanna

Congratulations! It looks like you two had a great time, and that’s what counts.

  • Janie

Congratulations to you and to your husband! I’m so happy for both of you. Wish you many sweet love for many happy years.

  • Congratulations!!!! I’m so happy for you!!

And I totally get it! Why get into debt when you can avoid it? I think nowadays some couples are more interested in the wedding itself than the marriage…glad you didn’t go down that line! =)

    xo Rose

  • Laura

Congratulations! So happy for you and your decision to enjoy your wedding your way. I hope more women are inspired by your example. And may God bless you and your marriage to grow and flourish.

  • many blessings to your union and May God bless your future. Congratulations.

  • Barbara

Congrats two the both of you

  • Congratulations!!!!!!!!! OMG! I’m so happy for you? You two look so cute together! Again Congrats on your union and may you two have many happy and beautiful years together. Can’t wait to see you next month :-) (((Huggies)))

  • Kay

    Congrats again, Brittany!

Reading your post made me feel like I had warm fuzzies inside my stomach :o) Your wedding reminds me of my parents’ as they had a low-key one and simply wore Mickey & Minnie Mouse shirts! Oh, and I totally get what you mean about having a debt-free wedding, as I always thought that paying an exorbitant amount for wedding photos was redonkulous.

ANYWAY, I wish you and your husband all the best!

  • E

OMG….CONGRATS!!! I wish you and your husband nothing but the best :)

  • Victoria

Congrats!! Beautiful couple beautiful love!!! Enjoy your life together :)

Amen, girl. Everything you said resonates with me. We went down to the justice of the peace ourselves. Congratulations, and may you have many happy years together!

  • AHHHHH Congratulations to the Mr. & Mrs Clumps!
For a second I thought you actually had your wedding AT Disneyland. That would be so cool yet expensive LOL!

  • sarah

GO YOU! who cares if it’s not up to what other people want you to do as far as weddings. you did what makes you the happiest. you’re happy. you’re still happy. that’s all that matters.

Congrats!! Nothing wrong with doing what was right for the two of you and to celebrate your love!

  • Lana

Congratulations!!!! I hope you and your husband have a long, wonderful life together.

  • Kim

Congratulations!.I wish you the best in your marriage :)

  • KiJafa

CONGRATS!! I totally understand where you are coming from. 03/29/10 my sweetie and I (along with our kicking and scream parents, my niece, his children and uncle) went to the JOP. This is what I wanted from the beginning, but I caught so much he!!, I finally told my sweetie and our parents, if they wanted a wedding, plan it, and to tell me when and where to show up….yeah, they shut up real quick and let us do things the way we wanted.

Since then we have gone to several weddings, Sweetie tells me every time that he is glad we did it the way we did, especially after he found out how much I had to pay for a bride’s maid dress and shoes lol

Just like you, I have ZERO regrets. I married the love of my life the exact way I wanted.

It is totally about the MARRIAGE and not the wedding..well, at least for me!!

  • Rashidah

Love this post and everything it stands for. God gave you the desires of your heart. Congratulations! God bless your union.

  • Deedee

Congratulations! And well done for doing your own thing. Looks like you had a lot of fun as well.

  • Congrats!!!! I agree with you about spending a ton on a wedding when the real celebration should be about the love of the happy couple. In light of Kim K’s four month marriage, a lot of people should rethink what marriage is about and why people choose to get married. You have your priorities in the right place. Good for you!

  • ReaderRita

You two did everything right- after all, it’s about the marriage, not the wedding!
I wish you two nothing but the best!

  • Anita

Lol I wizzed out when I read this! it’s so adorable. Well if this works for you go for it lol, I personally don’t need a big fancy wedding…but I want a dress!! 😛 lol

  • rina

Congrats!! so happy for you guys :) I hope I can find my dream hubby one day too.

  • Aw, I love Black love! Congrats chica!

  • I know it sounds corny, but this is so touching. I’m so glad that you two had the guts to hold on tight and not let go. Too many people our age don’t understand the value of love…God bless! xoxo

  • Emma

Congratulations, Brittany! That was such a sweet thing to read. I think you were smart to just follow what felt right. Not everyone needs a storybook wedding. Sometimes all you need is to wake up next to the person you love knowing that they’re yours forever and that they feel the same way.

  • omg!! congrats!!! seriouslyyy i’m soooo happy for you! and reading this entry was so inspiring. i hope you had a wonderful wedding and an even happier marriage 😀

  • As a girl who just got married a month ago, I’m glad you stuck to your guns and got married the way that YOU wanted to. I wish I had done the same.

  • Garden

  • Congratulations to the both of you. We’re almost neighbors…ahhhhhh, I see. 😉

Wishing you both the very best.

  • CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Wishing you and your new dh the very best! So happy for y’all!!!!!!

  • Congratulations!

Nouveau Cheap mentioned your blog & I hopped over to check it out!

I was married in September and it was definitely not the norm! I was married in a pizza/bowling alley and it was hosted by yelp dot com! Even though we dressed up, invited our family & friends, we had strangers at our wedding, since it was an event hosted by Yelp! Of course, we did know a lot of those people too! It was so much fun and I’m so glad we did it! Honestly, the only thing I wish was that I wasn’t too busy posing for photos & talking with friends that I could have actually eaten the pizza! haha

We wanted a small wedding & totally thought of eloping more than once, so right on! I’m glad you did it your way! Totally cute with the bride/groom Minnie/Mickey ears!

We’re doing the exact same thing for our honeymoon! Little mini ones. <3

  • CONGRATS!!! Love can not be hidden where it truly exists….

  • TJ

Aww, you two look so happy and cute together. Congrats!

  • Oh my gosssssh! Congratulations to you both, you are a gorgeous couple. In the end you both did what YOU BOTH wanted for your wedding day and no one else’s input or opinion should matter or bring you guys down.

I wish you both nothing but the best :)

    Jess xoxo

  • Oh my God I’m so happy for you! I totally get it. I just felt like me and my man just needed to go do it! my mom and his best friend were with us and thats what we did. We’ll be celebrating our 1st year married in a week. When it comes down to it I don’t need a million people watching us because all I could see that day was him!
Congrats and thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures-your face has such a beautiful happy glow to it!

  • Dude seriously you did it RIGHT. The grass seems to always be greener on the other side, but the Jones’s are going BANKRUPT. Period. Investing in Sally Mae, mini honeymoons, and a home are what’s up. Greg and I went to the courthouse and bought our dinner with coupons, lol.

Oh and congrats!!! I’m so happy for you!

  • Beautiful! So happy for you! Congrats and have fun, marriage is so much fun!

  • SanTara

This is GREAT!! I’m SOOOOO happy & excited. Many Blessings Mr. & Mrs Clumps. AND how about my honeymoon was in Orlando because we wanted to play at all the parks. LOL

  • Awww…I’m so happy for you two. And I agree with you wholeheartedly about not having a big wedding. A marriage is hard enough work, why start it in debt?! Also, I adore that you had a private ceremony, just the two of you. I feel that’s how it should be. Congradulations. Be blessed.

  • Happy for you, Brittany! Marriage is a BEAUTIFUL thing!

  • Congratulations! I wish you both nothing but the best for many years to come. You both look so happy and adorable together. I understand about the big wedding. I rather keep it simple and save the money for a trip to DW and other places.

  • Coop

So HERE’s the announcement! Yay! Congrats sis!

  • Congrats! I am so happy to hear that you found love. And I agree 100% why go into debt for a wedding when the truth is you want a marriage not just one day of your life. You celebrated your day the best way for you and your Esposo! Ps I agree with you about not sharing your relationship online, somethings are suppose to be private you do not need the world chimining in on everything! Congrats again I pray that you have a wonderful bless and a beautiful marriage! stay blessed

  • kia

congrats,B! I’m glad you are happy which ever way you did it!… well, i already told you this, but it doesn’t hurt to say it again 😉

  • I’m a huge fan of eloping! I’ve seen friends and family spend tens of thousands of dollars to let the world know they want to be married. I think it’s crazy! If I ever marry my boyfriend of 4 years, we’ll probably elope.

  • Cassandra Smythe

I’m really glad you shared your story and showed people that online dating can have a really positive experience. I’m also glad you guys did your own thing instead of doing what others wanted you to do. I’m sure the choice wasn’t easy, but you guys looked like you had the time of your lives. I’m sure it will be a day you both will never forget and that’s the most important thing. You don’t need a big wedding or a white dress that will put you in debt, you just need each other :) Congrats and thanks for sharing!

  • YAY! I love simple and authentic living. I too agree that love trumps the debt. What does one prefer: working on a wedding and end up divorced w/ a lot of debt or focus on a marriage having a lifetime of love and abundance*. I prefer the latter.

*Not saying that an expensive wedding = divorce

  • Gina

I totally love that you did you and got married the way you wanted. My always says some people just want a wedding and forget that they’ve got to work on the marriage afterwards. Blessings to you and your Esposo

  • Hey Mz. B,

    I’m really late but Congrats…
I respect what you stated about private and not wanting to go broke..

    I’m so happy for you!
However, it would have been nice to at least allow your family to enjoy your event..

You only do it once (supposedly), I’ve been blessed to be married for 22 yrs.

Money should not have been an issue if it was the right time and person..
Nooooo, you didnt have some big overly priced event that you would have paid for at least half your marriage..but the pics and family are a part of the legacy for your children.

I pray when you settled that you renew your vows and at least have a reception….you deserve it!
    Stay beautiful, blessed and frugal
May God continue to bless you, your husband and increase you…..

Just because we didn’t have a wedding when we first got married doesn’t mean we’ll never have one. 😉

This is so sweet! I can completely identify with you on keeping your private life private. I am the same way and I know that some think its strange, but my relationship is personal. I don’t feel the need to post pics and statuses online. I think the popularity of social media forces so many people to think things are not official unless you are publicizing them. Why? I guess we’re both old fashioned.

My fiance and I are getting married next year. We want something simple that wont break the bank and something very special between the two of us, especially since I’ll be moving to his country. I think what you did with your sweetie is great and very inspiring to others. I’m more interested in the marriage than the wedding. And agreeing with you, Sallie Mae wants her money haha!
