This is a collaborative post is all about mascara. And its potential woes…
Mascara can be a wonderful thing – a desert island essential and the one thing most women won’t leave the house without – it makes us look awake and opens up our peepers to give us that pretty, girly look. However, mascara can also be the beauty bane of our lives and when it goes wrong, it really goes wrong. Here are some of our most common #mascaraproblems…
The Eye Poke
You’ve slept in, you’re blurry eyed and you’re trying to balance throwing on some clothes with gulping down a scolding hot coffee and doing your makeup – it’s never going to end well. How it often does end, is with a mascara wand being prodded into your eyeball, blinding you for a good few minutes and consequently making you even later for work. Not ideal.
A trip to the hairdressers is supposed to be a relaxing experience, but often, that’s just not the case when you’re at the mercy of an over-zealous hair washer. Not only do you leave with an aching neck after being sat over one of those hellishly uncomfortable sinks, but you’re also subjected to several face-fulls of water as your hairdresser carelessly tries to rinse the conditioner from your locks. Ten minutes later you’re left with black smudges around your eyes and streaky foundation, and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. Hairdressers, take note: invest in more comfortable sink seats from Capital Hair & Beauty and be more careful in future!
The ‘Les Mis Effect’
Anybody who saw Les Miserables at the cinema will be well aware of what I’m talking about here. Going to see a sad film at the cinema will inevitably result in you walking out looking like a clown; tear-stained foundation and panda eyes, anyone? It’s happened to all of us, but seen as Les Mis has to be the biggest tear-jerker we’ve ever come across, we’re dubbing this the ‘Les Mis Effect’. Mascara lovers, be warned!
On the other end of the spectrum, the problem isn’t getting some mascaras to stay on, but rather the issue lies with getting them off. Some waterproof mascaras are so determined never to run, smudge or budge, that they’re actually impossible to remove. You can try oils and all the best eye-makeup removers in the world, but you can never quite get it all off. In the process of trying though, you end up with sore eyes and a few less eyelashes than you had when you started. You just can’t win!
