I kinda want to start this post off complaining about the cold, but I won’t. Mainly because I live in Florida and you guys think I’m bonkers when I complain about the cold. But I also complain about the heat too so see…I am an equal
And in random news, yours truly is running a 5K on Saturday. I’m freaking out. Because I’m so not ready but I SO need the challenge. I received these goodies a few weeks ago and while I was sauntering by the beauty wall the other , I glanced at these Tarte Power Pigments and lost my mind.
Because how could I let them sit there that long without playing with them? These are absolutely gorgeous. And I know, I know. You’re all like, “Doesn’t Tarte already have pencils that look like these? How are these different?”
Good question, honey bunny. And I asked myself the same question when I first saw these. Inspired by Tarte’s newly designed cheek stains, these lip tints aren’t just pretty on the lips, they also moisturize the lips. And by moisturize, I mean you snowbirds up North may actually prevent cracking lips with these. With a color selection of 8 lippies, I would have loved to see wilder colors (like a deep purple, burgundy or orange, even) but I’m hoping that Tarte will consider this in the next few seasons.
However, the shades that I DID get are just, well…you tell me.
Flush is a sheer berry and it’s my favorite. I mean, look at it! Simple, sweet, perfect for meetings and perfect for fancy shmancy events.
I’ve been wearing Blushing Bride forever and a day because this plummy rose is just fantastic for daily use. She’s a bit on the “blah” side, but believe it or not, some days I just want plain-lookin’ lips. And for that, this shade totally works.
Natural Beauty is a sheer berry rose (Tarte loves using the words berry and rose, huh?) and while it looks decent up close, far away I find that it has a bit too much coral in it for my liking. I love this darkened up with a lip liner.
These self-sharpening pencils seriously keep the lips hydrated. There is also a hint of mint that my nose detected and I really liked the non-sticky formula. Seriously, they feel good and they last a good 4-5 hours on the lips. Oh, but if you’re thinking that that the color at the bottom of the stick matches the lip color…
They don’t. Which, I think, is a good thing as I prefer the color in the tube over the color displayed outside. Woot! You can grab these at Sephora and Sephora.com for $24. Pricey? Maybe. Worth it? Definitely
That said, I think I’ve found the lippy that I’m wearing to my race on Saturday. I can’t promise that I’ll be one of the first few to finish, but…I’m going to try!
