Once upon a time, in a land that was free of stinky men’s socks and breast pumps, lived a girl. Said girl spent her entire life moving from house to house and dorm to apartment. She once even lived in a convent. The girl was ecstatic to finally have her own place. She lived alone and could not have been happier.

And then she got married.

She got married to a man who didn’t understand her obsession desire for immaculate living. And now we’re here.

Said girl was me, y’all. I am now an overworked, frazzled mama who does her best to keep her house in shape, and, well, I’m lucky if laundry gets washed, dried and folded in the same day. But if there’s one thing I always make time for, it’s decluttering.

Decluttering at the beginning of the year is so incredibly refreshing because it allows me to start the new year on a good and clean foot. Plus, it’s incredibly therapeutic. And did I mention, decluttering makes space for new items? Woot!

I’m lucky to have a beauty room/office. I know this won’t last forever (you know, because I got kids…), but I regularly declutter this place because my shelves act as, well, art.

However, under both bathroom sinks is an entirely different story. They are jacked up. And that’s putting it nicely. During Bub’s nap time, I got to work on the master bathroom. I purchased a container from Target and made three separate piles: trash, donate, keep.

I decided to keep only things that I was actively using. Everything else went into one of the other two piles. Before I knew it, I had an organized space! I excitedly treated myself to the following goodies:

Shea Moisture’s High Porosity MoistureSeal CoWash

Shea Moisture High Porosity CoWash

I am soooo excited that Shea Moisture is targeting very specific hair needs with this line. I can’t wait to try it on my hair! My new hair color has really done a number on my hair’s condition.

ACURE Day Cream

Acure Day Cream

I’ve had this brand on my radar for months. Lack of sleep has my skin looking all kinds of wonky, and I can’t wait to see how this does in helping hydrate my skin.

Aura Cacia Sweet Orange Essential Oil

Essential Oils

I’m an essential-oil junkie, and I recently ran out of Sweet Orange. It is a staple, and I love using its aromatic properties in my diffuser. It also works beautifully in homemade house cleaners.

Shea Moisture Sensitive Skin Facial Cleansing Oil

Shea Moisture Cleansing Oil

They had me at “face oil.” OK, I’m not a fan of the scent of rose, but any time Shea Moisture comes out with something new, I HAVE to buy it. This is a fact.

I’ve got a clean new space AND new products! What more does a girl need? If you need more inspiration on decluttering and organizing your space, check out Target’s series, “How Do You Do, TargetStyle” on Target’s YouTube channel.

  • Hey Brittany! Look at you inspiring me to go to Target, LOL! I’m going to use this upcoming blizzard/snowed-in weekend to declutter and put up my new Threshold organizer! I’m so excited lol and I’ll need some fun, new stuff for all the space I’ll have now, like an EO diffuser 😉 What kind of essential oil diffuser do you use?

    • Hey babe! Please oh please stay safe during this blizzard. But yeah, it really is the perfect time to declutter. I don’t use an EO diffuser. I’m super sensitive to fragrances and they trigger migraines – plus, a lot of my favorite scents are ideal to brew with small kids around. Womp womp!

      • Oh right – duh! We are safe. Shoveling sucks and I’ve considered moving to FL many times LOL.
