My Experience With Warby Parker

So I’ve changed my hair…again. I blame almost 30-hood. Don’t worry. I’m not one of those women who freaks out over getting older. I am excited to kick rocks to my 20’s because I feel like 20’s has just been one big dress rehersal for my life. 30+ is where it’s really at. But wait, where was I?

Oh yeah. My hair. I chopped it off (again) and got a blonde taper. Which I’m lovin’. I’m also thinking of going jet black at some point, doing purple tips and maybe a gray streak. Just because. Gotta keep it cool, ya know? I hate when my hair is boring and for the past few months, it has been just that. I’ve also been wanting some new eyeglasses. A ton of my fellow beauty bloggin’ gals recommended Warby Parker and so I looked them up.

Need A New Hair Style? #UrsulaforMotions Has Us Covered

It’s a been a lil’ minute since I’ve talked about hair care. Many years ago, I started a blog called Loc Rocker and it was all fun up until I went and chopped my locs off in postpartum rage. And since then I’ve been rockin’ several different styles of short cuts. But when I think about Motions, I think of the good ole’ days. I rocked Motions back when I was in high school and college. I was in Walgreens a few days ago, sniffed a bottle of their shampoo and giiiiiiirl, the memories started a flowin’. Since Motions has just gotten back on my radar, it appears that I have been living under a rock because they’ve done some amazing things to their products since I last tried them.

Wags1
I’m a girl who wears her hair naturally but I am far from a product snob. If it works for my hair, I’ll use it and it’s good to know that Motions caters to women of all hair types and textures. They also have products for every part of your styling and maintenance routine. From shampoos, conditioners, oils, sprays and holding products, Motions will keep you covered.

Question of the Week:

Quick: name three makeup products that you’ve
repurchased multiple times.

B says, “Sephora’s waterproof eye makeup remover, Urban Decay’s Zero eyeliner pencil and MAC’s Vino lipliner. Those are three of my staple beauty products.”

What about you?

See you next week!

Inspire Yourself

Those were the words Esposo told me when I called him for what I thought would be a quick chat. What it turned into was a mini meltdown on my behalf. Excuse me while I turn this beauty blog into a venting public diary. You don’t mind, do you? You see…I’ve been going through thangs. Is it because I’ll be turning 30 and I feel like I should kinda sorta have my life in order? Is it because I want to love what I do while making money (which apparently is very rare)? Is it because I am realizing that I’m not okay with living the life that many Americans live and…hate? Okay, I know I’m being vague but roll with me.

I want happiness. I want money because money provides opportunity and experiences and…chances. Lately I’ve been getting discouraged in thinking I’ll have to work bOOOOooooring jobs that may pay well but that don’t touch anything. Or anyone. Deep down inside I know I was put here on this Earth to help people. Beyond giving them mascara recommendations, ya know? I’m not made to work in cubicles for companies for 40 hours a week, every week. That’s not my calling. Neither is being a stay at home mom. Could I do it? Absolutely. Do I want to? No.

I’ve spent my 20’s feeling lost and not knowing what I wanted and where I’m going. I can’t exactly pinppoint exactly what I want now but I know what I don’t want and I feel like it’s time to refine some things. And I don’t know how. It will require many prayers and some soul searching. I know I’ll get there but this is just a rough patch that I’m going through.

I may blog about it which may turn some of you off. Which I totally understand because you came here to talk about makeup. Not about the woes of a 29-year old. Am I right? But something is telling me that it’s okay to share a little. So…I’ll share.

But, in the meantime I’m going to inspire myself. And you should, too. Surely there were moments and times in your life that you thought you’d never get through. But you did. Here I am looking for inspiration when I have my own past experiences to glance at. So yeah, girlfriend. Inspire yo’self!!

Talk soon.

XOXO,
B

I’m Hosting A Prestige Cosmetics Twitter Party Again! #BackToBlack

Girls.

I had the worst headache everrrrrr last night. It was unreal. Luckily one of my gal pals was visiting and helped me Elle (because you know…Esposo has been traveling for work for 2 weeks now) and I could not have been more grateful. I’m thinking that my life as a new mother is scaring her. Truthfully, it scares me, too. My friend is shocked at how much goes into just getting these tiny (crazy toddler) humans fed and in bed. Yes, it’s unreal. And scary. It is indeed birth control for both her and myself. None of this has anything to do with this Twitter party that I’m hosting but I thought I’d give some insight into my life. HAAAA!!!!

This party, though…

I’m excited about it. This is my second time hosting a Twitter party with Prestige Cosmetics and the first one was explosive! They brought me on board again and this time I’ll be co-hosting with my good friend and homie Erin of Scandalous Beauty and I am excitedddddd! We’re going to rap about Prestige Cosmetics’ newest collection and one lucky participant will snag a door prize. Be sure to RSVP to qualify for this door prize and join us as we chat about Prestige’s 18 new basic black products.

See you thurr!

Playin’ Up The Eyes

walmart_beauty_logo

Wearing a full face of makeup in the summer is so not even an option. Yes, girls…I know. It is so hard to wear less when you are used to looking like a bombshell each and every day. Instead of discontinuing the use of products that I love, I have decided to switch things up and wear products that are fitting for the summer. See! Easy, right? Instead of wearing foundations, I opt for tinted moisturizers or BB creams. Instead of lipsticks, I may start showing my lips stains more love. And when it comes to the eyes, well, I could never be without SOMETHING on them. Luckily, I don’t have to be thanks to Revlon’s Bold Lacquer mascara and Revlon’s ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liner.

DSC_2875

Perfect for the gal who loves letting her eyes do the talking for her, both of these products can produce such an amazing daytime look without much effort. After all, who really has time to put on a ton of makeup before a big meeting? You really don’t need a ton of products on your eyes to look…glamorous. Also, I find this look particularly easy for Moms of little ones.

After applying an eye shadow color that is close to your complexion, take Revlon’s ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liner and apply it to to your lower lashline.

DSC_2643

I love everything about these liners. Not only do they last just about all day, but Revlon has given us such an amazing selection of colors. I typically wear black eyeliner on my lower lashline but when the summer hits, I like to be a bit more bold with the color and I fine Green Spark to be right up my alley. It is edgy enough to be fun and eye-catching but also conservative enough to be worn in professional settings. Green Spark also looks great on girls of all eye colors and I think it especially compliments us brown-eyed girls. Also, formula-wise, while many of these liners are too watery, ColorStay Skinny applies with ease. The applicator is clumsy girl friendly and what you’re left with are sweet and straight lines that last all day.

IMG_0606.CR2

But wait! You’re not done yet. If I don’t do anything else in the morning, I make sure to always apply mascara. Mascara is almost like magic because no one has to know that you stayed up last night binge watching your favorite show. Or that you are running on 3 hours of sleep because your baby decided that 4am was play time. Revlon’s Bold Lacquer mascara is not only great at making your eyes standout, but its lush black formula really gives the illusion of happier and more awake eyes.

DSC_2667

When used together, both Revlon’s ColorStay Skinny Liquid Liner and Revlon’s Bold Lacquer mascara is the double threat for chicas on the go this summer. I can’t get enough of both of them and will be tossing them both in my suitcase for when I travel this summer.

You can get both at Walmart!

As a participant in the Totally Her program, I’ve received product samples and/or compensation for my time and efforts in creating this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Question of the Week:

When a beauty product is labeled “Limited Edition” (LE), are you more inclined to purchase it?

B says, “Of course not. I’m not a sucker. Those brands won’t get me like that. You do know that I’m playin’ right? Haaaa!!”

What about you?
