we heart this – wants to introduce you to a drugstore lip stain that is glossy, pigmented and all kinds of PERFECT.

Clumps of Mascara – has finally tried the brand Yes to Carrots. Not sure what took so long but now I’m in love and can’t stop bragging about their awesomeness !

EauMG – finally found a celebrity perfume to enjoy! Dita Von Teese EDP is a sultry floral over smoldering incense. And the packaging is fit for any glamour gal!

Gouldylox Reviews – What is the best DIY beauty hack? The Makeup Wars team compares their favorites. Which one is yours?

My Beauty Bunny – We’re so excited to announce the My Beauty Bunny Exfoliating Moisturizer is now on the virtual shelves! The cruelty-free lotion gently exfoliates and helps minimize fine lines, and works with all skin types.

Nouveau Cheap – What if I told you that there was a new drugstore liquid liner that could change your life? OK, maybe not your life, but it just might change your outlook on liquid liners (in a good way).

Prime Beauty – dreams of being a ballerina but for now she’ll settle for looking like one with the Lancôme French Ballerine Spring 2014 Collection!

Guest Post of the Week, as chosen by Phyrra – I adore Honey from Honeygirl’s World. She covers beauty, fashion and lifestyle. I really like her tutorials and her recent Honey Bella Rosa tutorial combines gold and purple, two of my favorite shades.

Question of the Week:

In your opinion, what’s the most overrated beauty product of all time?

B says, “MAC’s lipsticks. They’re just…meh.”

What’s insanely overrated for you?

See you next week!

I Can’t Do It All. So I Won’t.

Baby in stroller

I’m a stubborn woman. I ignore sleep when I’m exhausted. If it doesn’t work the first time, I keep trying. I overwhelm myself with promises and responsibilities and then get into mental clusters. Some would say, well…“Welcome to Motherhood”. But honestly, I was like this before my sweet girl graced my life. My Type A personality enjoys taking over and it wasn’t until a friend told me “You can do it all.” that I realized, well…that I CAN’T do it all.

Oh, but honey, I’ve tried. Attempting to raise a sweet toddler who understands English, Spanish, sign language and who gets enough exposure to nature, diversity, music and healthy food? Done. Work full-time at a job that sends me on trips and requires my undivided attention the entire time I am there? No problem. Maintain a 6-year old beauty blog by keeping up with new products and trends, draft posts, connect with the world on social media, take 1,000 pictures of a mascara and polish my nails 5 times in 20 minutes? Cool. Sign up and train for 4 races before April? Easy peasy. Be a loving and supportive wife to my workaholic husband, attend church regularly, volunteer at events on the weekend, plan and prepare healthy meals for my family, be active in social groups, keep up with friendships, find time for “me”. Um…how? How can I do all of that?

I’ve tried. And honestly? I’m failing at it. I want so badly to be MORE than “just a Mom”. I’m trying to be everything to everyone and…failing. I am beginning to scale back. Which is why you may notice sporadic posts on Clumps of Mascara. It’s the reason why sometimes I post on Instagram and sometimes I don’t. I stopped going to so many social meetings. Life can be simple. We complicate it. Oftentimes, WE are our own problems. My goal is to simplify as much as I can.

To spend time with my baby instead of rushing to post a picture of her.
To enjoy that date with my husband without snapping shots of food to upload to Instagram.
To enjoy training for my races without posting an update each time I put on my kicks.
To live disconnected.

And that’s tough considering my day job requires me to be connected aaaaand, my night job requires me to be connected. To share, to comment, to post, to snap. I don’t want to. I just want to be…

Being is easier and most times more gratifying than doing.

Thank you so much for understanding that I can’t do it all. And for supporting me through my faults.

OPI Gwen Stefani nail polish Collection

When I first heard about OPI doing a collection with the iconic Gwen Stefani, I was all like…”What took so long?” I mean, honestly…she should have had her own collection a long time ago, am I right? I actually had to sit down and explain who No Doubt was to my coworker’s little sister the other day and uh…I felt old. No Doubt rocked my high school years. I played Rock Steady daily. Love.Angel.Music.Baby gave me life. Gwen is my girl and when I did cartwheels (lol, not really tho) when press samples of this 7-piece collection landed in my mailbox.

OPI Gwen Stefani collection

Let’s do a quick overview of these babies…

OPI I Sing In Color nail polish

I Sing In Color is a dark and vampy red. And even in the dark, it still looks red which is a big deal in my book. It reminds me a lot of Cult Nails’ Lamestain and it is just as sweet in that it doesn’t bleed into my cuticles. LOVE!

OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby nail polish

Love.Angel.Music.Baby is a gold matte with a satin-y formula and lemme tell you, I’ve never been a fan of golds but this one is goooorgeous. I’ve always been a fan of OPI’s satin formula. They do it beautifully. I’ve been meaning to do a look with this gold and black. Can you imagine how gorgeous that would be?

OPI Hey Baby nail polish

Hey Baby is a bright pink creme and there really isn’t much to say about this this one. You know how I feel about pinks. They are all starting to look the same at this point….

OPI In True Stefani Fashion

In True Stefani Fashion is a silver glitter with a nice amount of holographic glitter dumped in. I layered it over Hey Baby and it adds a nice little sparkle. It’s just an average glitter, though. Definitely something that most nail polish lovers probably already own.

OPI 4 In The Morning nail polish

4 In The Morning is a black satin. This has been done before but as I’ve mentioned, no one does this satin nail polish formula like OPI. This is such a perfect fit for Gwen’s collection. It’s smooth, sexy and applies like a dream.

This collection also features Push and Shove, a silver chrome and Over & Over A-Gwen, a red creme. Push and Shove comes in a set with a base coat and the silver chrome. It’s a beautiful chrome but somehow I found the lasting power to be only so so. And we all know OPI does reds beautifully so Over & Over A-Gwen is just fantastic.

I love everything about Gwen so I would have loved more umph in this collection. I do like the use of various texture and formulas and the shade ranges are nice, but I don’t know…this is Gwen we’re talking about. I need some more shock factor!

This collection is currently available anywhere OPI is sold. I’ve spotted every shade at Ulta for $9. Push and Shove goes for $14.99 because it wants to be all fancy and whatnot.

Any Gwen lovers out there? What do you think? Did this collection do her justice?

WHAT? How Have I Not Tried Yes to Carrots?

First of all, I am a bit embarrassed at having never tried the brand Yes to Carrots. I mean, seriously? Am I deserving of the beauty blogger title? I’m not sure, girls. But when a press sample of this landed in my mailbox, I couldn’t help but get geeked up and here’s why…

Yes To Carrots

(1) It’s fragrance free and (2) It’s fragrance free!

People think I’m trying to be all hip and cool by preferring only fragrance free products, but I promise I’m not. Fragrances don’t bode well with my problematic skin and even if I didn’t have THOSE issues, I’ve got the “fragrance so strong that I’ve entered Migraine Hell” issue. I stopped wearing perfumes years ago simply because just a spritz would send my head a spiralin’. And so I can appreciate when brands that I love and respect cater to the fragrance free lovin’ guys and girls of the world.

I’ve reviewed several facial wipes so really these aren’t crazy different from those. However, I do think that the inclusion of beta carotene (from carrots) to help maintain skin’s softness is a fabulous addition. Also included is Vitamin E which assists in moisturizing the skin.

Yes To Carrots Gentle Cleansing Wipes fragrance free

As with most facial wipes, I would recommend using your makeup remover prior to using this. While it may do a good job with removing foundation, powder and lipstick, chances are your primary makeup remover will do a better job at removing the heavy duty stuff like waterproof mascara and eye shadow primer.

Yes To Carrots ingredients

Still. For $5.99 which will grant you 25 wipes, I think these are a perfect and budget-friendly option for those who have been wanting to try facial wipes. Aaaanad, you can easily find them at Target, Walgreens and Whole Foods.

Yes To Carrots Gentle Cleansing Wipe

Weeeee! Now I want to try the entire line-up of Yes to Carrots stuff. What should I try next?

Happy Valentine’s Day + Win A Box Of Chocolates and…Rosy Lips!

Oh darlings, how about a little something special this Valentine’s Day? I try very hard not to get all caught up with the commercialism of this holiday, but um, I love candy. And shoot, I don’t really need a holiday to buy myself a box of candy. Just sayin’.

Vaseline chocolates

The lovely people at Vaseline are gifting one of my readers this fabulooooous box of chocolates with a jar of Lip Therapy Rosy Lips. Remember that time I reviewed it?
Yes y’all. Chocolate and some Rosy Lips? It’s too much. I know, I know. Unfortunately, this giveaway is just for my U.S. readers. But stay tuned as I have something special for my International readers.

Reason #285 Why You Should Be Using Vaseline

Vaseline

Yep, it’s me again. Telling the world about the awesomeness that is Vaseline. Y’all know I’ve done this before. It’s what I do. Vaseline really could hire me because I go around bragging about them more times than I can count.

Through Popsugar, I was granted to the opportunity to not only be gifted with a nice box of goodies to use with my huge tub of Vaseline, but I was also inspired to do a video. Something I haven’t done since, well…uh, it’s just been awhile. Yeah. Obviously, it had to be one amazing product to get me to come out from under the “Ain’t Done A Video In Awhile” rock.

Did you know that Vaseline is fantastic at healing dry skin? So yes, it’s 75 degrees here in Florida, but when the temperature drops at night, my skin gets ridiculously flaky and dry. Vaseline is amaziiiiiiing at deeply moisturizing to heal dry skin. I reckon you guys and girls in snowy temps would so so benefit from the healing proprieties that Vaseline has.

Vaseline Jelly

And unlike other products, who shall remain nameless, Vaseline doesn’t sit topically on skin nor does it pass in and out of the top layer of skin too quickly. So yay for products that actually WORK when you apply them. Move out of the way, lotion water! I needs some Vaseline.

Check out my video to see how I used Vaseline. This has now become one of my favorite uses for the big V. And please be gentle, y’all. I’ll get my vlogging swag back. Oh, and please forgive me for using the word swag.

Pretty, cool, uh?

Other ways ways you can use Vaseline…

  • As a shaving treatment.
  • As a foot treatment.
  • As a makeup remover.
  • As a face treatment.

Shark Week Can Be Fun Again…Kinda. Thanks U By Kotex!

Because I’m all about keepin’ it real up in here, you should know that this is a sponsored post for U by Kotex, who provided me products to review. You can get a free sample from U by Kotex too here and Do the Demo.

Now. Who’s ready for some TMI? You know I am. I stay in the TMI Lane. As lady people, we shouldn’t be so secretive about the things that so many of us deal with. And let’s face it, we’ve all dealt with our cycle at some point in our lives. It’s been about 16 years since Aunt Flow has made herself a regular visitor. And I hate her. I really do. But she’s a necessary evil and so while I cringe at her every appearance, I have come across ways that make dealing her, well…easier.

U by Kotex box

Through Socialstars I had the opportunity to test some of these U By Kotex products and at first I was like “Oh snap…my menstrual cup lovin’ friends are so going to disown me.” Yes, I do proudly roll with the cup crew but honey, I’m a girl who likes options. And no one likes to be unprepared when their cycle decides to make their first appearance after 21 months of being ghost (thanks pregnancy and breastfeeding!). And said cycle comes when you are out of town. Oh yes, girl. This happened to me. And I wish I would have these U by Kotex CleanWear pads on hand.

U by Kotex

First of all, can we talk about the pretty packaging? “B, who cares if they’re pretty. They’re sanitary napkins!” Look. There ain’t anything pretty about Shark Week. But U By Kotex is trying to lighten the horror a bit with colorful wrapping and decorated pads.

Kotex packaging

And, I for one, can appreciate this. In fact, how I’ll go back to regular plain pads is beyond me. It was as if U By Kotex sat down and said “Hmm…how can we make this awful time of the month just a little better?” And while they aren’t able to make the cramps and bloat feeling disappear, they can at least bring a smile on my face when I open up these pretty pads.

Kotex napkin

Just, wow…

And they aren’t just pretty to look at. Without getting too graphic (calm down…I won’t put it ALL out there), I love how the U by Kotex Barely There Thin Liners don’t leak. They just don’t. Also, the adhesive has a nice and firm stick and you can ensure that it’ll last for as long as you need it to.

Kotex tampons

Colorful pads with pretty packing and housed in a slick and sexy black box? Well done. U By Kotex gave us something that we didn’t even know we needed. And I love it. Now if only they can think of a way to get rid of that “Give me all of the sweets and leave me alone for the next 3 days” feeling…

I wrote this review while participating in a content series through Crowdtap on behalf of U by Kotex, and received products to facilitate my post and compensation for my time to participate. But y’all know me. I don’t mind writing about this kind of stuff for free because, well, uh…I have before!

Guest Post of the Week, as chosen by Pink Sith – A simple yet lovely blog post about beauty. Here is a beauty epiphany from Alice In Nappyland and what a $1.99 lipstick taught her.

Question of the Week:

Is there a makeup application technique that
you’ve tried to master, but just can’t seem to conquer?

B says, “Ummmmm, stupid liquid eyeliner. I suck at it! And don’t even get me started on false lashes. Hmph. “

So which techniques do you suck at?

See you next week!
