Mascara Monday: Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless mascara

Rimmel Accelerator Endless

Once upon a time and many many moons ago, I fell in love with Rimmel’s Lash Acceleraor. I mean, I was head over heels in love with that mascara. For at least 6 months, every time someone asked me what my favorite mascara was I would blurt out “Rimmel Lash Accelerator!” with full fervor and conviction. I adored that mascara. And time has passed and it looks like Good ole’ Lash Accelerator has a sibling. I had high high hopes for Lash Accelerator Endless.

I mean, HIGH hopes!

Rimmel Accelerator Endless mascara

Price: $8.99 from CVS stores and CVS.com
Packaging (brush wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5

What It Claims: “Our first ultra lengthening mascara that defies the laws of lash length defies limits, has a formula with Micro-Fibres and Grow-Lash Complex and grabs every lash for perfect separation with no clumps!” (source)

The Truth: In.Love

What I Loved About It: This mascara has such a nice and thick formula. One coat is really all I needed to get such luscious lashes.

What I Didn’t Like: Because of that thick formula, clumping is definitely bound to happen. And you know how I feel about about clumps of mascara.

Overall: The original Lash Accelerator mascara was launched over 3 years ago and while it has been a very long time since I’ve tried it, its awesomeness will forever be etched in my memory. You see, this mascara did amazing things. Its ability to provide length and volume was fantastic but it also had a really cool brush. I feel like Rimmel took that mascara, sent it to boot camp and the result is Lash Accelerator Endless. I love everything about the mascara. The wand is just…great!

Rimmel Accelerator Endless wand

I know old skool mascara heads often prefer the brush-style wand over the plastic wand and I do too sometimes but for this mascara, it works! The formula is a bit on the thicker side and a brush wand would really distribute more mascara than you’d like on your lashes. This plastic wand has such long and stiff bristles that it makes applying to the lashes ridiculously easy.

And because of that thick formula, you can really get away with applying just one coat. But of course I’m a rebel so I pushed it to two and even then, the mascara still applied with ease with only minimal clumping around the corners of my lashes. I really have no complaints about this mascara. It does everything you’d want your mascara to do. It applies with ease, it stays put all day and it gives you a great amount of volume and length. The claims say that with extended use it’ll help grow the lashes longer and of course I’ll never know that since I only test mascaras for a week at a time. But still..it’s a great incentive to keep using it!

I’m so glad to see that Rimmel did the Lash Accelerator name right. I am so in love with this baby!

Do I recommend it?: Heck yeah! And I’ll be recommending it as much as I recommended the previous Lash Accelerator.

I can’t believe I am just now reviewing this mascara but man, it really is as awesome as everyone has said. Have you tried it?

Eczema Suffers Unite! Eucerin Eczema Relief Instant Therapy is here to save us!

“Oh snap.”

That’s what I said when I found out that Eucerin was going to launch an eczema skincare line. I first learned about it while at their headquarters in Connecticut some months ago and I have finally gotten the chance to play with the products. I am so so excited about them.

Eucerin Eczema Relief Instant Therapy

As a Eucerin ambassador, I received these products to review and the timing was perfect because Elle’s skin was starting to break out. Yes, again. My poor chocolate dumpling of a baby can’t seem to run away from the eczema monster but that’s okay, I’ve got high hopes for Eucerin’s Eczema Relief products. She’s not alone in the fight either because apparently over 35 million Americans suffer from eczema. That’s a whooooole ‘lotta people and chances are you know someone that suffers from the itchy (and sometimes painful) condition. Or maybe it’s YOU that’s suffering from it. My Eucerin lovers will be happy to see these 2 new additions to the Eucerin line-up.

Eucerin Eczema Relief Instant Therapy

Eucerin Eczema Relief Instant Therapy creme

Of course my favorite thing about both products is that they are fragrance-free, free from dyes and don’t contain any steroids. The Instant Therapy Creme not only promises to calm eczematic skin, but it also helps to improve the appearance of irritated skin. This is huge for me because nothing says Mommy Guilt like your baby’s rough eczema plagued elbows. We haven’t used this on Elle yet but I’ve used it on my skin and I love the cooling effect that it provides. It rubs in easily and my skin feels moisturized. But it’s really the Eczema Relief Body Crème that has my heart.

Eucerin Eczema Instant Therapy

Clinically proven to improve hydration, improve the appearance of red, irritated skin and relieve itchiness of eczema, Eucerin Eczema Relief Body Crème is freaking amazing. I mean, seriously. I’ve been slathering this on Elle at night and have seen such improvement in her skin.

Eucerin

Her elbows are the roughest parts, mainly due to her scratching them but after quick warm baths, slathering her in this crème and covering her skin at night, she wakes up with elbows that are still moisturized and softer than they were the day before.

We’ll be buying this by the gallon in the next few months. Eucerin does it again! These products are available nationwide at drugstores and I’ve spotted the Body Crème at Target.com for $10.49. Pricey? Maybe but itchy eczema suffers know $10 isn’t TOO much when you’re in need of some relief.

* Disclosure: I am a Eucerin ambassador and while I do not get paid to write these posts I did receive these products and a gift card as gifts.

Zoya Zenith nail polish collection

I can’t believe that I am already talking about Winter 2013 nail polish collections. How is this even possible? Sounds crazy cliché but dang…time flies. I’ve actually got a ton of Zoya nail polish collections that I’ll be cranking out in the next few weeks and Zenith sparked my interest the most. I got this collection for a review and really it was that stunning blue holographic nail polish that had me swooning at first glance…

Zoya Zenith nail polish collection

You see it, don’t you?

Zoya Seraphina

Seraphina is a full-coverage, polaris silver metallic and as much as I want to love it, it’s pretty blah for Zoya. I know every color can’t be spectacular but I don’t know, Seraphina, you don’t seem to be as fabulous as your siblings here.

Zoya Payton

Payton is a galactic cranberry with holographic glitter and yassss, now we’re getting somewhere. This is what I’m talking about. Zoya does holographic nail polishes beautifully. Payton is just stunning and I love how dynamic it looks without a top coat.

Zoya Mosheen

Mosheen is an astro ice blue topper that works well on top of other nail polishes, of course. So I’m not madly in love with super sheer polishes but I kinda dig how this icy bar glitter looks on its own.

Zoya Belinda

Belinda is a gorgeous cosmic purple/blue metallic that beautifully changes shades when the light hits it. This is an interesting shade from Zoya. I don’t think I’ve seen them do a shade like this so this was a nice surprise to see in their line-up.

Zoya Cassedy

Cassedy is a celestial pewter metallic and man, isn’t that quite the description? Pretty dead on, if you ask me. At first glance Cassedy looks like a darkened grey but if you look closer, it comes off as a deep grey with just a hint of shimmery army green.

Zoya Dream

Dream is my favorite shade of the bunch because well, look at it! This deep space blue with holographic glitter can’t get any better. It applies like a dream (hehe, see what I did there?) and I just love how bright and bold this polish is with only 2 coats. It’s gorgeous!

Application of these polishes was ridiculously easy. I found it so refreshing to see a winter collection that didn’t have any traditional shades in it. Way to go, Zoya! Of course Dream and Payton are my favorites but I love that the collection has a little somethin’ for everyone.

The Zenith collection is available for purchase at Zoya.com for $8 a bottle or you can get the entire collection for $48.

5 of Clinique’s Newest (And Awesome) Products

Clinique has been launching new product after new product and I am finally sharing them with you lovely people! I received these items to review and as usual, Clinique is just totally impressing me. They really can’t do any wrong when it comes to skincare products but I am just so excited to see how far they’ve come in the cosmetic world too. Check out some of their most recent launches…

Clinique Happy Hearts Fund

Clinique is continuing their partnership with the Happy Hearts Fund and this year we are getting some pretty packaging to go along with the cause. The Happy Hearts Fund helps is on a mission to help families and neighborhoods rebuild their homes and schools after natural disasters have hit. Clinique helped Happy Hearts Fund rebuild a computer center in Staten Island, New York after Hurricane Sandy and the love doesn’t stop.

Happy Hearts Fund

These limited edition items are decked out in orange and pink hearts and I am just loving the whimsical feel of the packaging. Lovers of the Clinique Happy fragrance ($37) will adore this pretty bottle.

Clinique Happy fragrance

My nail polish lovers will also love how pretty the Happy Heart bottle is ($12.50).

Clinique Happy Heart nail polish

And if you’re down for showing the love in a bolder way, a t-shirt with the mantra “Make Someone Happy” ($16) is the way to go. Proceeds from each purchase go towards the Happy Hearts Fund.

Happy Hearts Fund t-shirt

Quickliner for Eyes Intense ($16)

Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense liners

I’ve never described any of Clinique’s eye products as intense, but honey, these liners are ah-mazing! These retractable and creamy pencils are just as fabulous as the original Quickliner pencils except there is more depth and POW in terms of color payoff. My favorites….

Quickliner for Eyes Intense swatches
(l-r Intense Amethyst, Intense Peacock, Intense Peacock, Intense Cobalt, Intense Peridot)

Fascinating, aren’t they? That Intense Amethyst is giving me life and I love that these work beautifully on the waterline and on the lower lashline. They really DON’T BUDGE and are perfect for all day wear.

Superprimer Face Primers ($27)

Clinique Superprimer Face Primers

Primers are such a personal thing. For every makeup lover or makeup artist that you run across that doesn’t use them, you’ll find more that swear by them. Clinique has given us primer lovers options when it comes having a smooth and fresh base. I think this is fantastic idea!

I don’t generally wear primers (mainly because it’s an added step that I’m too lazy to do…ha!) but if I’m going to use one, I’m all for wearing one that works with my complexion. Like the one that targets dullness in deeper skins. Also in the line-up:

-Universal Face Primer
-The Primer for Dullness
-The Primer for Redness
-The Primer for Sallowness
-The Primer for Discolorations

All About Shadow Quads ($28) and Singles ($15)

Clinique All About Shadow

I’ve always overpassed Clinique’s eye shadows because I’ve found some of their other products to be more captivating but um, wow…the color payoff of these shadows totally surprised me! Take this On Safari palette for example…

Clinique All About Shadow Quads swatches

Each shade contains a bit of golden shimmer but they aren’t as frosty as I expected. I don’t usually purchase single eye shadows but if you were to, Purple Pumps would definitely have my eye.

Clinique Purple Pumps

It’s not the most intense matte eye shadow that I’ve ever come across but still, Clinique gets lots of love from me for going out of the box with these gorgeous shades.

Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes ($17)

Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes

If extra vibrancy is what you’re looking for when applying eye shadow, I think these will be right up your alley. I adore Clinique’s “Chubby” line of products and these cutesy shadow sticks are really just like applying eye shadow. Except waaaay more convenient. They’re perfect for travel and quick fixes. They didn’t last long on my oily lids so I definitely recommend wearing them with a primer underneath.

Just In Time For The Holidays! Reverse Wishlists from pickURgift.

This post is brought to you by pickURgift.com. The holidays are rollin’ over again and I for one am not looking forward to shopping for people. Yeah, I know. That sounds awful, doesn’t it? It’s not that I don’t like gifting folx with gifts but the whole shopping and “trying to figure out what they want” thing is just beyond frustrating. If I’m going to spend my hard earned money on a gift for someone, I want it to be a gift that they’ll actually like. Not just a random something that they’ll turn around and regift to someone else.

pickURgift
Mmmm, what lippy should I buy?

Don’t act like you haven’t done it.

Enter  Pick UR Gift . This newly launched site takes the guesswork out of trying to figure out what to buy people. You’re familiar with wishlists, aren’t you? The concept is simple. You make a list of things that you one day hope to buy. Pick UR Gift is a reverse gift list service that allows YOU (the gifter) to create lists of items that you think someone you’d like to buy a gift for (the giftee) and then send that list to the giftee. The giftee then takes a look at the list and picks what they like! And if for whatever reason they aren’t a fan of anything that you’ve picked or want to leave you additional information, they can leave comments on their gift page. Sounds cool, huh? Especially for us beauty lovin’ folks. It’s so incredibly hard to shop for us because we tend to gift ourselves with the things that we want year round. But Pick UR Gift works because it’ll ensure that whatever gift your giftee selects, it’s a gift that you know they really want. Similarly like a registry.

Scenario:

My Mom is an insane hobbyist. She’s into so many things and I never know what to buy her. I know what kinds of things she likes though. So I create a list of “potential gifts” for her. This is the fun part. After adding the UR button (which is safe and requires no downloading) to my toolbar, I can literally go to any website, find an item I think she may like and add it to her list.

Pick UR Gift

After I’ve added enough items, I can email the page to her, wait until she picks a gift (or gifts) and then boom…hassle-free gift giving.

The Pro’s:

-The website is super easy to navigate and it is very user-friendly.
-The toolbar doesn’t require any downloading. It also works beautifully in any browser.
-Pick UR Gift works on virtually any website including Amazon.com.
-Reverse wishlists are better than registries because the “Gift Pages” will never expire. Baby and wedding registries tend to expire after the birth of the baby and after the date of the wedding.
-It’s free for all parties involved!

The Con’s:

-If you’re one for surprising, the reverse wishlist may remove some element of surprise. Chances are the giftee will have some idea of what you “plan” on getting them.
-Giftees will have to register for an account on pickURgift.com. This may annoy some people.

All in all? A very cool website! I’ve already created wishlists for my Mom and husband. I may do some for my sisters but something tells me a shopping spree in my beauty room is what will truly make them happy. Ha!

What do you think? Do you think you’d get some use out of pickURgift.com?

Mascara Monday: Ck One Color mascara

CK One mascara

I received a sample of this mascara in a bag of goodies from ULTA’s 21 Days of Beauty. There was a mean sale of this mascara and I was so glad to see it for so cheap because I’ve heard amazing things about it. It’s one of those mascaras that so many people told me to try but I just never got around to trying. Until this week. I was rummaging through mascaras to see which one I needed to show love to and this baby popped up. And here’s the coolest thing about it…it’s blue!

Yeah, I know. Most of you are like…”Blue mascara? That’s like so 80’s.” I know. But I still get excited about them!

Price: $18 from ULTA stores and ULTA.com.
Packaging (brush wand): 4 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What It Claims: “Mascara by ck one Color has an adjustable mascara brush that creates customized looks and simplifies application with a quick twist of the cap. Precision curved brush and patented lycra technology amplifies, shapes, and lifts every lash for maximum volume.” (source)

The Truth: I think I like it!

What I Loved About It: I don’t know if I buy the whole “adjustable wand” thing but it’s still a fantastic mascara.

What I Didn’t Like: Adjusting the wand is hard!

Overall: Now and days mascara brands have to jump through all kinds of hoops to be appealing to us beauty guys and girls. Simply being a mascara that promises volume and length ain’t enough anymore. Mascaras have to not only bring volume, length and curl but they must pay our bills and rock our babies to sleep too. I’m just sayin’. So yes, this mascara is like all of the others in that it makes a lot of claims but its claim to fame is the adjustable wand. The concept isn’t innovative but I’ve never seen one like this before. With a turn at the top of the mascara your wand goes from this…

CK One mascara wand 2

To this…

CK One mascara wand

I don’t know if my wand was messed up or not but I found it hard to turn it…

Turn mascara

The shorter and plumper wand is supposed to help with volume and by making the wand longer, it’s supposed to help with added length. Does it work? Meh. I suppose everyone’s experiences will be different but I found that I got decent volume and length with both versions of the wand.  I love the plastic bristles. They are fantastic at combing through the lashes.

I found the mascara to last around all day and I love the stunning blue. Of course, blue mascara on dark brown skin and dark eyes doesn’t look as blue on me as it would on gals of other complexions but whatever. I still like it. The formula is spot on too. It’s a really nice mascara and I’m not sure if the adjustable wand is necessary but it’s a nice little treat to have.

Especially if you’re going to spend $18 on a mascara.

Do I recommend it?: Yep! There’s a purple mascara in this line too. I think I gotta try that one!

What do you think? Does the adjustable wand seem like a gimmick or have you found it to be effective?
