AVEENO Baby collection giveaway!

Yo. It’s gettin’ cooler ’round these parts. By the way, I was never one to say “Yo”. I clearly watch way too much Breaking Bad. Best show everrrr! And when it comes to Elle’s skincare, AVEENO Baby has been rocking our world. The brand sent me some of their products and we’ve loved them so much that we’ve already gone and re-purchased some things.

Aveeno Baby skincare

Remember how bummed out I was about Elle and her eczema-ridden skin? I was breaking my neck trying to find a product that could not only alleviate her flare ups but prevent them from happening. Since she still drinks breast milk I decided to go gluten-free for 2 weeks and lo and behold, her skin cleared up. I’ve been on a gluten-free (and dairy-free diet) for almost 3 months and so far so good. Elle’s skin is flourishing. Every now and then she’ll appear with some dry patches and that’s when I like to use these AVEENO Baby products.

I used to be all “natural skincare ONLY!” but when your baby is clawing at her itchy skin to the point that she begins bleeding, you’ll try anything. Coconut oil and shea butter just wasn’t cutting it. I find that the AVEENO Baby products are mild enough to be used daily and Elle’s skin seems to feel better when I used them. Like the Baby Cleansing Therapy Moisturizing Wash…

Aveeno Baby Calming Wash

Baby girl doesn’t get baths daily (they’re too drying for her) but when she suds up, this creamy wash rocks. I love massaging it on her drier areas. The Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream is my favorite though…

Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy

We use this daily and it’s the only product that not only makes her skin FEEL better but it lasts throughout the day. We ran out of this stuff and ended up buying more.

Are you a mama that has a baby with dry skin? Or are you a mama to be? Or do you know a mama who could get some use out of these? I’m giving away the full AVEENO & AVEENO Baby Eczema Therapy collection.

Good luuuuck!

Visiting Orlando? Experience the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa!

It was a dreary day when I pulled up to Reflections Spa-Salon at Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa. I was ready for a serious morning of pampering and I wasn’t let down. I was offered the opportunity to visit this spa and the timing could not have been more perfect. Yours truly has officially started working out again (yay but ouch!) and my body was torn to shreds. I was in desperate need of some help and I was beyond elated with what awaited me at Refections.

Reflections bath

First of all, location, location, location! The spa is nestled nicely in the touristy part of Orlando so if you think you’ll be visiting the area soon, you’ll be happy to know that chances are you won’t be too far from this spa.

Every spa that I visit has a theme and Reflections is no different. This spa’s treatments are “inspired by the powers of the ocean and healing elements of the sea”. You totally get that the second you walk into the lobby.

Reflections Lobby

A gorgeous aquarium of bright colored fish are in the center of the room and the lounging sofas somehow curve into your body. Sweet beverages are at your service you have the opportunity of really relaxing before your treatments start.

I had a tropical hot stone massage and a manicure and pedicure and both services were wonderful. Service is everything at a spa and I don’t care how fantastic a spa claims to be; if the staff isn’t accommodating, the whole experience can be a downer. From the moment I walked in until the moment I left, I felt like the staff genuinely cared. Before each service began, questions were asked to make sure that I was comfortable.

Reflections manicure

And of course the answer was always yes, because who isn’t comfortable when they have warm rocks being massaged into their skin? A girl can certainly get used to this. Seriously. If you’re looking for a truly unique experience, I hear their sugar scrub is absolutely divine.

For more information about Reflections Spa-Salon, visit their website. And if you’re thinking about coming to the Orlando area (which you totally should since the weather is divine!), staySky.com hotels and resorts are absolutely fabulous. Each resort has gorgeous amenities for the entire family.

Disclosure: I was treated to these spa services at no charge. I was not obligated to write this review, but why wouldn’t I? I mean, honestlyyyy…..

Cult Nails All Access collection

I’m a loser for not doing a post on The Makeup Show Orlando yet. I know, I know. I’m on a serious budget these days so this collection of nail polishes was the only thing I purchased from the Show. Crazy, right? Usually I empty my pockets like mad. Look at that… I’m growing up. Ha!

I helped Maria of Cult Nails set up the day before the show and I had the chance to play around with the collection All Access. I fell in love. And for a good reason. I mean look…

Cult Nails All Access

*squeals*

Cult Nails Grunge

I knew I would love Grunge before I even swatched it. Maria was wearing this color on her nails and I couldn’t stop eyeing it. It’s described as a perfect military green creme and I couldn’t agree more. It has enough gray in it to where it doesn’t look like a Spring-y shade. It’s just perfect.

Cult Nails Feedback

Feedback contains soft gold, pink, and orange mylar flakes and I found it to be more sparkle-y than most topcoats with flakes. I love how it looks over Grunge. It looks pretty awesome over Lamestain too.

And speaking of Lamestain…

Cult Nails Lamestain

This is by far my favorite polish out of the entire collection. I mean, honestly… This rich, deep, ox blood creme is beyond anything that I’ve ever seen and I love that it doesn’t look black. I’ve been rocking it for a good week now and have no intentions of removing it.

Cult Nails Wack Slacks

‘elloooo Wack Slacks. There ain’t nothin’ like a gorgeous purple/blue nail polish (especially a creme) and Wack Slacks just makes me happy. It’s more blue than purple and applies like a dream.

Cult Nails Disillusion

Disillusion caught me by surprise! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a polish like this. Hot pink mylar shreds are sunken in a black jelly polish? Wow! It is opaque at 2 coats but really shines with 3 coats. I can’t wait to see how this looks over Cult Nails’ black nail polish.

Impressive, right? The pre-order for the collection has already passed but you can buy the polishes individually for $12 at CultNails.com.

The Best Green Juice EVER. Thanks Skinny Limits!

Green smoothies.

Y’all know how much I love them. I could easily drink my weight in green smoothies and have been doing so for many years now. A few weeks ago, a brand by the name of Skinny Limits reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in trying their green juices. At first I was all snobbish like “OMG, green juiiiiice? But I’m totally married to green smoothiesssss.” But green is green, right? Plus I’ve heard that green juice is great for cleaning out some toxins. I couldn’t do a full detox because I’m still pumping for Elle (can you believe it? 9 months!) but could I incorporate Skinny Limits juices in my regular diet?

Um, yahhhh….

Skinny Limits

So here are 3 reasons why Skinny Limits Rocks:
-They will ship FRESH juices to you.
-Their juices are absolutely delicious.
-Their juices are absolutely delicious.

Yes. So good that I had to mention it twice. These juices are amazing! I’ve always been weary about jumping on the green juice bandwagon but one sip of Pure & Simple converted me.

And here’s the thing: juicing isn’t cheap. It isn’t cheap if you juice at home and it isn’t cheap if you have someone else juice for you. But, c’mon…you get what you pay for and if I’m going to pay $49 a day on juices, I want them to be juices that I can at least tolerate.

Welp. I can more than tolerate Skinny Limits’ uses. I could live off of them. They are just beyond tasty. I was given a 3-day trial of juices and so I really got the chance to fall in love with them.

Skinny Limits Juice Cleanse Instructions

Skinny Limits makes it simple by providing you with thorough instructions and a color-coded and number system that tells you when to drink which juices.

Skinny Limits Pure and Simple

Balance juice is made up of kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger. Esposo and I couldn’t get enough of this juice. This was our favorite. I love greens but I would have never thought that a juice with parsley in it would be so tasty. The sweetness from the apple and the zing from the ginger  had my tastebuds dancing up a storm. I could easily drink this juice every day.

Pure & Simple has the same ingredients as Balance except it eliminates the ginger. I found it to be just as tasty.

Skinny Limits Scorpion Lemonade

Scorpion Lemonade has lemons, agave nectar, cayenne and filtered water. I’m familiar with the taste of this because I’m one of those crazy people that has done (and suceeded at!) the Master Cleanse. It is far from like a conventional sweet lemonade. The lemons were super fresh and of all of the drinks, I found it to be the most refreshing.

Skinny Limits Crescent Moon

Crescent Moon has raw cashews, vanilla bean, cinnamon, agave nectar and filtered water. This was my second favorite drink. Each 16 oz bottle has a good 300 calories of sweet creamy goodness.

Who are these drinks for?

Anyone! I’m a big fan of detoxing so if you’re feeling like you need to jumpstart a new diet or refresh your body from the inside out, detoxing is ideal. And even if you don’t plan on detoxing and just want to introduce some new tastes in your life, these drinks are perfect.

Skinny Limits bottles

Are these shipped safely?

Yep! A huge box arrived with my drinks and they were packaged nicely and every drink was nice and cold.

What could make these better?

Uh, let’s see…if someone could come and make these for me every few days, I think I’d like these A LOT better.

Way to go, Skinny Limits. Keep rockin’ out and making delicious and healthy juices that can be made available nationwide. For more information about Skinny Limits, be sure to visit their site. And if you’re in the Austin, Texas area, you can visit the Skinny Limits HQ.

So who else loves green juice? Why didn’t you guys tell me how great they were?

Mascara Monday: NYX Le Chick Flick Boudoir mascara

NYX Le Chick Flick mascara

Last year NYX Cosmetics released an entire collection of mascaras and I am finally getting around to reviewing the last one. Le Chick Flick is all about giving waterproof lashes and like all waterproof mascaras that I try out, I had high hopes it. I am way harsh on waterproof mascaras because I’m not looking for a ton of length and volume, I just want longevity and waterproofness. Waterproofness IS a word, isn’t it?

Price: $5.99 from ULTA stores and ULTA.com.
Packaging (brush wand): 4 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What It Claims: “NYX Le Chick Flick Boudoir Mascara features a smudge-free formulation that thickens lashes as it delivers deep, dark drama. Dense dome brush reaches each and every lash.” (source)

The Truth: Oh wow…very nice longevity!

What I Loved About It: The wand is pretty awesome.

What I Didn’t Like: Meh, it’s just on the mediocre side in terms of volume and length.

Overall: It is sooooo hard to find a good waterproof mascara. Which is crazy because you would think by now, brands would have developed a decent enough formula. But nope, I am usually let down by most of the waterproof mascaras that I try. For one thing, they HAVE to have decent wands. There’s no need to have wands with a whole ‘lotta frills. Something simple will do. Which is why I love this wand…

NYX Le Chick Flick mascara wand

Wham, bam and done. It isn’t anything fancy and it does a great job at sweeping through the lashes while generously coating each lash with ease. The formula was very nice to deal with and almost had a bit of a gel-feel to it when applied to the lashes. Like many waterproof mascaras, I found that it did a great job at really adhering to the lashes without clumping them up too much. Two  coats was good enough for me and while I didn’t have those long and voluminous drag queen lashes that I always love, the mascara plumped my lashes up enough.

What really impressed me was how long it stayed around. I worked out in this mascara and it lasted through the blood, sweat and tears that are involved in my strenuous workouts. I’m kidding about the blood part. I think. But yeah, I would wipe sweaty hands across my face plenty of times and this mascara didn’t budge. Score!! This is all I ask, NYX. If you’re going to give me a waterproof mascara, make sure that baby is actually…waterproof. I’m a happy woman.

So so happy.

Do I recommend it?: I do! It’s an affordable waterproof mascara that actually works.

Anyone else out there struggle with finding decent waterproof mascaras?

Makeup Wars: Fall Manicure

Hey girl hey! Fall is in full swing (even in humid Florida) and I am all kinds of excited about it. The changing of seasons means I get to expose Elle to random happenings like pumpkin patches and it also means I can pull out my favorite Fall-inspired nail polishes. This Makeup Wars, the girls and I decided to showcase our favorite Fall manicures. I am far from a nail artist so I kept it simple and used one of my favorite polishes out this season.

DSC_1394

Say hello to the gorgeous Lamestain from Cult Nails’ All Access collection. I purchased all of the polishes from this collection but I adooooore this one the most.

DSC_1393

It’s a stunning polish, right? It’s a gorgeous and rich burgundy jelly that DOESN’T look black on the nails. It is everything I could have ever wanted in Fall nail polish. To add a bit of sparkle, I added Essie’s As Gold As It Gets on top.

And since I’m as untraditional as they come, I am also loving butter LONDON’s Royal Navy as a Fall mani.

DSC_1427

I did a horrible silver glitter nail design on top but Royal Navy is the best navy nail polish everrrrr.

Check out the polishes the Makeup Wars girls picked as their favorite Fall manicures…

OPI San Francisco collection, part II

I’m back with the rest of the gorgeous nail polishes from OPI’s San Francisco nail polish collection. The first half of the collection is here. The second half is full of gorgeous pinks and reds. See…

OPI San Francisco

Goooorgeous!

OPI First Date at the Golden Gate

First Date at the Golden Gate is a really pretty ruby. It wouldn’t be an OPI collection without a stunning red.

OPI In the Cable Car-Pool Lane

In the Cable Car-Pool Lane is lovely. Nothing says fall like a rich and creamy burgundy. This one is flawless. I applied 2 coats of it and I probably should have applied a third.

OPI I Knead Sour-Dough

I Knead Sour-Dough is a Grandma-y shade with glam. It’s a nice rosy brown with a gorgeous hot pink shimmer. I didn’t expect to like this so much but wow. It’s very unexpected.

OPI Embarca-Dare Ya!

Embarca-Dare Ya! is a shimmery magenta. It isn’t anything special but that doesn’t make it any less pretty.

OPI Lost on Lombard

Lost on Lombard is a seasonly appropriate garnet.

OPI It’s All San Andreas’s Fault

It’s All San Andreas’s Fault is a mauve. It’s one of OPI’s Liquid Sands and I think it’s one of the best Liquid Sands in terms of quality. I’m not a fan of the shade but it’s certainly “interesting”.

OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf!

Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! is indeed one long and annoying name. Ha! But other than that, it’s a rich and bright blue. This Liquid Sand requires very thin strokes but I have a heavy hand and applying thin strokes are never easy for me.

OPI Alcatraz…Rocks

Alcatraz…Rocks is a blue-ish gray Liquid Sands that doesn’t look as “sandy” as the other Liquid Sands in this collection.

The entire collection…

OPI San Francisco

OPI San Francisco

This collection is currently available anywhere OPI products are sold. You can snag ‘em for about $9 a bottle.

Which one are you lovin’?
