She Inspires: Shannon– Your Techie BFF

She Inspires-Shannon

I first met Shannon when she emailed me asking if she could interview me for her website.  We had some kind of cool e-connection thang goin’ on and reading her About page made me quite honored that she even reached out to me. Plus, I love women who seek to inspire and help women.

Name?
Shannon Mattern

What do you do?
I teach women how to launch a WordPress website in just an hour a day over 5 days with no coding and no BS that you don’t need to know. My training series is free because I want to empower women that want to start a business by taking away one of the major roadblocks to launching – not having the money to pay someone to build a website, and not having the skills to build one. If you’ve got something awesome to share with this world you’ve got no reason to hold it back!! WordPress is my talent, and I just gotta share it with people!

Yay for another post from the The Lipstick League! We are a group of beauty bloggers, bound together by the desire to save the world with beauty, one post at a time!

Beautygeeks – If you habitually skip body lotion after your shower because you’re too rushed, this new Jergens Moisturizer for Wet Skin is a game-changer, even more-so than Olay Moisturerinse (discontinued anyway) and Nivea In-Shower Body Milk and Lotions (sorry, Nivea).

Beauty Junkies Unite – In 1983, I used to sneak my brother’s Grandma’s bottle of Vidal Sassoon shampoo in my bathtub and use it when I wasn’t supposed to. Question of the Week:

How much time do you spend on
your skincare regimen each day?

B says, “About 10 minutes total. I do some massaging and cleansing in the morning and then I do the exact same thing at night. I really make sure to massage and moisture the décolleté, too.”

What about you?

See you next week!

My First Ever Facial at T-Secret

T-Secret Facial

Here I am having just turned 30, been immersed in the beauty world for almost 8 years and last month was my first time having a facial. How insane is that? I’ve had a slew of fabulous massages and body treatments. I’ve waxed this, colored that, plucked and experienced fabulous manicures and pedicures. So why am I just NOW having a facial? One reason, y’all…

Purple Tutus Make Life Better

Toddler in purple tutu

So I’m back to only sharing pictures of Elle with her back facing the camera. I kinda took this idea from Beyoncé. Many of the pictures she shares of her daughter showcase Blue Ivy (and um, I’ve never hated that kid’s name) looking adorable or doing something insanely cute, except you oftentimes don’t see her face. Some people think this is dumb because…why show the picture at all? Yeah, I get that but I got a little lazy with publicly showing pictures of Elle and ugh, it backfired. One word: creepers. Going back to my mama gut and only sharing the sweet stuff with friends and family and the rest the world gets back shots.

But is is a cute back, isn’t it? Ha!

Shea Moisture Cosmetics, Round II

Add these products to another list of beauty baubles that I received for consideration and forgot to show to you guys before my hiatus. When my Makeup Wars sisters decided to showcase some of our favorite brands, I immediately thought of Shea Moisture Cosmetics!

Shea Moisture Cosmetics (3)

You’ve heard of the brand, right? My fellow natural sistas love Shea Moisture when it comes to hair care. I love their body care products for Elle’s skin and it wasn’t until last year when I first discovered the brand in stores. You see, I knew the brand existed but it was very hard to locate in Target stores. And when I first saw it I squealed…

Question of the Week:

Are there any makeup looks you wish you could rock,
but feel like you can’t?

B says, “Crazy lip colors like green, pale pink and blue just don’t look right on me. I wish I could pull it off but noooope. I end up looking CRAZY. And not in a cool way.”

What about you?

See you next week!

She Inspires: Patrice – The Mechanic in Heels

She Inspires-Patrice

I came across the beautiful Patrice in a blogger group that I’m in. I was amazed to see such a fabulous mechanic…in heels! Because, let’s face it – you don’t often see lady mechanics. Gotta love a woman who is breaking the mold!

Name?
Patrice Banks

What do you do?
I’m the owner and operator of Girls Auto Clinic. Girls Auto Clinic empowers and caters to women through car buying and repair services.

It’s no secret that women generally do not understand vehicles – how they operate or how to maintain them. Most women do not have an interest or knowledge in cars and the automotive industry because historically they have not been the primary group to which the automotive industry markets despite the fact more than half their customers are women.

I was once one of these women. A self-proclaimed “auto airhead,” I have created a business model which supports a need in the lives of millions of women: automotive services based on trust, education, inclusion, and empowerment.

We aim to empower women (and men!) in order to take the fear and uncertainty out of the repair process while giving customers a unique and memorable automotive experience!

Glitter, Glitter, Glitter, Glitter Rockin’ Everywhere

My Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida crew has come together to rap about one of our favooooorite things. Glitter!! I get it. Glitter isn’t for everyone but I am so here for glitter. Every ounce of it. If  it were safe, I’d bathe it in. Okay, definitely too much information. Ha! I decided to showcase some glitter nail polishes that I got as a Christmas gift from my sister-in-law. It’s always hard shopping for a beauty lover because we always obtain the things that we want. And some people want to go beyond a gift card. Indie really is the best way to go because I don’t always have my eyes on what the indie brands are doing.

Fandom Cosmetics nail polish

So not only did a get a fabulous collection of Avenger-inspired nail polishes, but I was introduced to a new brand as well. WIN!
