Can The Wonder Cloth Replace Makeup Remover?

Imagine a world without makeup remover. In this world, you wouldn’t have to deal with buying and re-buying your makeup remover. You wouldn’t have to worry about it accidentally spilling in your luggage during trips. You wouldn’t have to spend countless dollars on cotton swabs, balls and rounds. In this world, a simple piece of cloth would remove every ounce of your makeup saving you time and money. I was graciously sent a sample of this  cloth to test drive.

Say hello to The Wonder Cloth, y’all.

The Wonder Cloth

Probably designed by a makeup junkie like me, The Wonder Cloth claims to be an all natural makeup remover. Not only does it promise to thoroughly remove makeup with water alone, it says it also cleanses and exfoliates the skin. Um, yeah. Okay. Just call me Skeptical Sally.

Wonder Cloth

The cloth contains 60% Rayon and 40% Cotton and it’s a pretty decent size…

Clean The Wonder Cloth

It feels incredibly soft too.

I would gladly trade my lint-y pals for this baby here. I figured the best way to test this was to put on a full face of makeup and see if The Wonder Cloth could remove everything. I used the most pigmented lippy that I could find. That’s OCC’s Pretty Boy

The Wonder Cloth before

The Wonder Cloth after removing makeup.

Dirty Wonder Cloth

My findings:
-While it feels soft on the face, I couldn’t use this for exfoliation. It isn’t tough enough.
-It removed foundation and blush easily. But then against, do would a regular washcloth.
-Mascara was tough to remove as was eyeliner. I got a good chunk of it of but still needed to follow up with my regular makeup remover.
-The OCC Lip Tar stained the cloth. Womp.
-This is a one time use product. I would only feel comfortable using this once before tossing it in the washer.

Does it work? I guess. But I found it to be most comparable to an average wash cloth – just a lot smoother. It definitely feels great on the face and it removed some traces of makeup but I wouldn’t trade it for my makeup remover.

Ah well. You can grab this baby at Amazon and even Bed, Bath & Beyond. Mama Clumps said she’s seen it at her local Walgreens as well.

Home Remedies for Cracked Heels

Cracked heels

*sponsored post

Oh summer time: sunshine and breezy summer dresses, suntans and cool drinks, flip flops and …cracked heels? Wait a minute, that doesn’t really fit the ideal image of those long summer days and late summer nights we love and look forward to. Unfortunately, cracked and dried heels happen to us all and especially during the summer months. From those lovely sandals we adore to wear when the weather is just right, to the harsh sun and brutal beating our feet endure during our beach and hike adventures; our poor feet go through quite an ordeal to keep us walking on.

After everything our feet go through for us it is our duty to return the favor with proper care and a little “feet R&R” from time to time. If you aren’t too keen on getting massages and pedicures or you honestly just don’t have the time or the funds to frequent a beauty shop, here are some nifty little home remedies for cracked heels:

· One of the most common things you hear, even more so when the weather gets warm, is to drink plenty of water.

· Exercising is always a great method to relieve cracked heel side effects and pain; exercising increases circulation which can help the blood flow and healing process for your feet.

· Another effective remedy includes a little indulgence that you can do in the comfort of your own home; soak your feet for roughly 20-30 minutes in the evening, then sooth and soak your feet in a natural moisturizer, slip on cotton socks and sleep the night away while your feet relax and soak up the moisture.

· Also, try to use a pumice stone to carefully reduce the thickness you’ll notice on your heel; this will help limit the amount and frequency of the cracking and splitting that can become rather painful and unsightly.

Our feet deserve a little TLC (tender loving care) from time to time and it is our job to give it to them. Our bodies let us know when something is wrong or when we need to start taking things a little easier, our feet do so when they become painful and start to crack. Pay attention to the signs our bodies give us and the long-term benefits will be more than worth it.

Makeup Wars – Our Favorite Purple Nail Polishes

It’s been a hot second since I’ve done a post with my Makeup Wars sisters. I know, I’m terrible. But I’ve crawled out from under my rock and today my girls and I are sharing our favorite purple nail polishes.

Soooooo not an easy task. Especially for a nail polish hoarder like me. How can I possibly have a favorite? That’s like asking a mom to pick their favorite kid. Okay, I’m kidding. I am hands down my Mom’s favorite. Just like Cult Nails’ Flushed is my favorite purple nail polish.

Cult Nails Flushed nail polish

Now as much as I love this baby, she just doesn’t photograph well. Cult Nails describes Flushed as a true “Blurple” (blue/purple) buildable sheer with an intense purple/pink shimmer effect that appears to glow through the polish (source). Yeeeep, that description is dead on for me. This nail polish has everything I could ever dream in a polish. It’s so unexpected and I’m always getting compliments when I wear it.

Flushed nail polish

And then there’s that luscious jelly finish. *swoons* I can’t get enough. Best purple everrrr!!!

Mascara Monday: Avon Mega Effects mascara

Welp, here we go…finally. My review of the very awesome Avon Mega Effects mascara. I’ve got a lot to say about this kid. But of course I would. I mean, it’s not everyday you see a mascara like this. I soooo didn’t see this coming. No offense Avon, but when it comes to dynamite mascaras, I wouldn’t think to turn to you. That didn’t hurt, did it? My bad. You know what I mean. Yes, of course…Avon is a great beauty brand but I wouldn’t exactly call them innovative. Welllll, honey, this mascara is single-handily changing the game. Yeeeep! I was so exactly that I received a sample of this to review.

Avon Mega Effects Mascara review

Price: $10 from Avon.com.
Packaging (brush wand): 3 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5

What It Claims: “This breakthrough mascara provides 24-hour volume, leaving lashes darker, denser and more dramatic. Get ready for a corner to corner lash transformation with our first ever Wonderbrush. “ (source)

The Truth: It’s the most interesting mascara that I have ever used.

What I Loved About It: It is so easy to tote around.

What I Didn’t Like: It takes some time to really get the super lush lashes.

This is going to be a pretty lengthy review so for those of you that just want to get to the point, I’ve broken down the review in Pros and Cons.

Pros:
-It’s affordable. Only $10!
-It makes applying mascara to the bottom lashes super easy.
-It has a fantastic build-able formula.
-Ideal for traveling. It’s so small and compact!
-While not waterproof, I found it to be a pretty sturdy long-lasting mascara.
-It’s perfect for those with super small and wonky lashes.
-It really helps brings those lashes out.

Cons
-It can look rather intimidating.
-The wand may be difficult to hold for some.
-Excess mascara comes off each time you pull the wand out.
-There’s a learning curve that busy mascara lovers may not want to deal with.
-The mascara has more separating power than volumizing power.
-You have to squeeze the tube to get the wand out and that can be a bit tricky.

Avon Mega Effects Mascara packaging

Overall: I first learned of this mascara when my girl Lianne of The Makeup Girl showed it off on Instagram. Her picture had me at hello I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on this baby. And now she’s here. Is it love at first sight? Not exactly. But I gave this mascara a 5 out of 5  for a good reason. It’s just that awesome. Even if it’s not perfect. First let’s talk about the so-called wand.

Avon Mega Effects Mascara wand

Avon calls this their Wonderbrush. What makes it unique is that it is able to adjust in multiple angles. It’s pretty cool because you are really manipulate this wand to get every single lash on both the top and bottom rows of lashes. It also does a great job at getting those inner corners. The plastic bristles are stiff and long enough to sweep through the lashes effectively. However, the handle of the Wonderbrush is short. Very short. I found that it was easiest to use 2 fingers (my pointer and my thumb to apply the mascara. It’s tough for someone like me who has bad nerves. Trial and error will eventually help you find what works best but I struggled with application for quite some time.

Avon Mega Effects Mascara-3

Also, when removing the Wonderbrush from the tube, I ended up with a ton of mascara residue. Getting that brush out is already a bit tricky (you have to squeeze both sides of the tube) and once you do, you’ll see way more mascara than you’ll want to use on the brush. Sweeping it on the side of the tube isn’t BAD but not always ideal.

Now for performance – it rocks! If you’re looking for a mascara that will last all day, this is your girl. She really doesn’t budge but managed to move easily with eye makeup remover. The longevity is my favorite aspect about this mascara. Volume and length were decent. Not impeccable but I did get a nice set of lashes that stood out. The more you apply, the more va-va-voom factor your lashes will get. I got a good 4 coats without having to worry about clumping.

Mega Effects mascara

Do I recommend it?: Absolutely! Especially if you are looking to try something fun and interesting in the mascara world.

So yes. I adore this mascara. Mainly because I think it is crazy innovative but also because it just works really well. I should be available on Avon.com later this month. Think you’ll try it?

The glorious liquid gold from M.Steves

M.Steve's Boost

It’s been a lil’ minute since I’ve shown y’all what skincare products I am currently using. Of course I’m always testing something but every now and then a product makes its way into my medicine cabinet and just doesn’t leave. I got this wonderful bottle of M.Steve’s Ultra-Nourishing Boost with Rose Hip Seed Oil to review and I’m really wondering where this liquid gold has been all of my life

Random Fact: In the lactating world, breast milk is also called liquid gold. So much so that any woman who has accidentally spilled a bottle of the stuff has been known to have a full out breakdown. Fo reals. But back to the ‘facial’ liquid gold. I really really dig this stuff. And I can’t believe this is my gateway product into the M.Steves brand. Are you familiar with them?

M.Steve's Ultra-Nourishing Boost

The brand was founded by Mally Steves Chakola and each product focuses on tackling aging concerns. I typically don’t review anti-aging products but sometimes  when I find one to be so freaking awesome, I can’t help but ring the alarm about it. What’s so fab about this oil? I mean, it’s an oil. How is it different from the other thousands of oils out there? I’m so glad you asked.

-It’s lightweight (perfect for those hot summer days and nights).
-It can be combined with other beauty stuffs (like your foundation).
-A little goes a long way.
-It’s fragrance-free. Perfect for fragrance haters like yours truly.
-It’s hydrating without being greasy.
-It’s vegan!

M.Steve's Ultra-Nourishing Boost back

This glorious oil has made its way to the M.Steves line simply because it has been known to firm and smooth fine lines. Okay, I don’t have those yet but honey, I’m all about preventative care. I will be keeping this bottle of lusciousness nearby. It’s not cheap though. It’ll run you a good $64 but hey, you know how I feel about investing in skincare. Some things you can’t put a price on. Ya dig?

Check out M.Steves for some of their awesome anti-aging products. I kinda want everything because the packaging is just adorbs!

Too Faced Summer Sexy Shadow Collection

Soooo apparently Summer 2013 started right before July. Has it always been that way? I don’t know. When you live in a state where there are two seasons (hot and hotter), it seems like summer is alllll the time. I’m a lover of summer collections. They are always so fun and cheerful. I got this Too Faced Summer Sexy Shadow Collection to review and it just screams summmahhhhh!

Too Faced Summer Eye 2013 Summer Sexy Shadow Collection

And what’s inside is kinda awesome too…

Summer Eye 2013 Summer Shadow Collection

This tin case contains 9 exclusive ‘resort-inspired’ eye shadows. Too Faced knows how to do a good eye shadow so I just knew the quality of this was going to be on point. And of course it didn’t disappoint. First, let’s talk about these 3 shadows to the left.

Too Faced Peach Fuzz

They’re gorge! They can probably be used as highlighters and blushes but with a very light hand. I found Peach Fuzz to be super glittery but I think it would work well under the brow bone. Or even for illuminating the skin if you like glittah.

Too Faced Sunbeam

Shadow-wise, I found that they were all pretty flattering.

My descriptions of ‘em:
Plumeria – A frosty cotton candy pink.
Coral Crush – a shimmery rose coral.
Mermaid – a shinning sea blue with shimmer.
Cocoa Beach – a bronzed mauve with gold shimmer.
Chocolate Sun – a milk chocolate with subtle gold shimmer.
Toasted Coconut – a toasted gray.

Each shadow (with the exception) of Tosted Coconut has some bit of shimmer it. I found that they all had nice pigmentation to them but if you’re looking to do some kind of smokey eye, you would probably need to use a shadow that isn’t in this palette.

Not too shabby for $36 and it is definitely a palette that represents summer. Too Faced rocks the house…again!
