You have to get rid of all your foundations and you can only keep one high end and one drugstore. Which do you keep??

B says, “That’s a tough one but I’ll have to go with high end. Cover FX and Urban Decay carry my favorite foundations at the moment and they aren’t drugstore.”

What about you? Drugstore foundation or high end foundation?

See you next week!

My Favorite Products of All Time. Like…Ever.

My poor baby, um…toddler has been sick for the past day and I did nothing but tend to her. My productive week went out of the window and I had grand plans of doing a fantastic look but well, family comes first. You get it, don’t you? And dude, nothing says love like allowing your child to throw up on you while you rub her back. I really must be a Mother because being covered in vomit wasn’t that big of a deal. I just wanted her to feel better. And she’s getting there.

Until I jump on the Productivity Train again, I’ve decided to share some of my favorite products of all time with you. This is such a short list. I mean very short. But these products are all thangs that I would purchase time and time again.

VIDEO REVIEW: Cover FX Illuminating Powder

Some time ago my girl Courtney over at Phyrra.net held an event at Sephora for Cover FX. It was there when I fell in love with and purchased their glorious Illuminating Powder.

Cover FX Illuminating Powder

I’m a lover of blushes and bronzers and didn’t see a real need for something like this. Until I tried it on.

Rock Teva At Your Next Music Festival – #ReadyToRoo

This post brought to you by Teva. All opinions are 100% mine.

Many Floridians say that flip flops are the unofficial shoe of Florida. Okay, so this may be true. I rock the flops hard while at the beach, but you certainly won’t catch me wearing them y’know…to trips to the store, out and about with the family and certainly not after dark. A girl has to maintain some kind of classiness and hey, flip flops don’t always align with the word “classy”.

The good news is, the brand Teva has a slew of comfortable and trendy sandals that are more than just your cheap pair of flops. Since 1984 Teva has been aspiring people everywhere to take your shoes…everywhere. There aren’t any limits for where you can wear Teva. You can sang a pair from Zappos and before you know it, you and your feet will be ready to take on the world. My favorite pair?

Teva Capri Sandal.jpg (photo source)

Teva has been the official footwear sponsor of the Bonnaroo Music Festival. Okay, so I’ve never been and probably won’t make it this year, but I looooove a good music festival. I love everything from the atmosphere, to the weather, closeness you feel with strangers and well, yeah…the music. There aren’t any real rules on how to experience a music festival (well, aside from all of the illegal stuff) but if I had to school a newbie, I’d drop these 3 tips with ’em.

  • Read the schedule
  • Bring comfy blankets, chairs or towels.
  • Have cash on you.

I know you may be a fan of those acts, but who wants to stand for a good 3 hours waiting for them to hit the stage? No way, José. And always have a few dollars on you as many of the food and swag vendors don’t take cards. I would love to hear some of your music festival tips! And while you’re at it, follow #ReadyToRoo to get more music festival tips and tricks. Or…visit The Fountain!

My NYC New York Color Makeover!

I’ve been needing some color in my life. Y’know…something new, hot and refreshing. I can easily get bored with beauty products. I mean, everyone claims to have these “revolutionary” products, but I don’t know…they are all starting to look the same. And they cost more than they should.

NYC New York Color

And then I laid eyes on these fabulous findings from NYC New York Color. I have gotten the opportunity to test drive some of their products and to create a look using said products. Said products are also all under $20.

NYC New York Color lipsticks

Yep, I’m not even playin’. And this is kind of a big deal because some brands don’t have even have ONE product for under $20. Yours truly will attempt to create a stunning and glamorous look using products that total in less than what a lunch date would cost you. But first, let’s have a look see at the products that I’ll be playing with…

NYC New York Color pretty lipsticks
*squeals* I know. I know. NYC New York Color’s Expert Last Lipsticks are some kind of awesome in every way. Aside from being crazy affordable, these high intensity, moisturizing lip sticks will stick around for a good 6 hours. Which is a big deal in my book because who has time to apply lipstick every 2 hours? Yeah no. Not me.

NYC New York Color for lips

These girls are all gorgeous but it’s really Traffic Jam that takes my breath away. And it’s only $1.96 at Walmart and Walmart.com. Watch this…

NYC New York Color Traffic Jam

Nothin’ like a blue red (with just a touch of orange) to make my heart flutter. And that doesn’t mean that Forever Fucshia and Coralista aren’t gorgeous, too…

NYC New York Color Forever Fuchsia

I’m still on the fence about Forever Fuchsia. I think it’s a gorgeous shade but I’m a bit cautious when wearing shades like this against my dark skin. What do you think?

NYC New York Color Forever Fuchsia lipstick

I was also sent 2 of NYC New York Color’s City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Colors.

Mascara Monday: Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

Once upon a time a dear friend of mine told me about the brand Younique. I laughed because the brand name sounded like the name of a little girl I used to teach when I worked for AmeriCorps. I explained the chuckles and she proceeded to tell me about this revolutionary mascara, blah, blah, blah…yeah, I get this quite often.

ounique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

The “OMG, you should try this mascara!” thing comes with having a blog titled Clumps of Mascara but I told her that I had already had a ton of mascaras to review on my plate and that I’d check it out. I never did. Until Trish from MomDot presented me with a sample of Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes on our Royal Caribbean Brandcation trip. Within minutes, I had headed back to my room to apply the mascara and ZOMGGGG.

Yeah. Impressed isn’t even the word.

Younique mascara

Price: $29 from Younique.com
Packaging (brush wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 4.5 out of 5

What It Claims: Our simple three-step process combines Transplanting Gel and Natural Fibers to help create the appearance of incredible thickness and volume to your existing lashes. Watch as your lashes transform into something you have only dreamed of! The 3D Fiber Lashes are water resistant but easily washes off with warm water and facial cleanser at the end of the day. ” (source)

The Truth: We’ve seen plenty of fiber mascaras but this is definitely one of the better ones.

What I Loved About It: The wands! They are slick, slim and perfect for applying a fiber mascara.

What I Didn’t Like: You can’t overdo it. If you over apply the gel of this mascara, you’re doomed. Very doomed.

Overall:  So obviously this isn’t my first time using a fiber mascara and Younique isn’t terribly innovative in this department. However, I do appreciate many aspects of their mascara. For one, like Too Faced’s Better Than False Lashes, the mascara comes in 2 tubes.

Younique Fiber Lashes

I love when this happens. Having both a base mascara and then a tube of just “fibers” leaves less room for error. Younique recommends that you apply a coat of your favorite mascara, a goat of their gel mascara and then the fibers and theeeen the gel again. Seems easy enough, right? Of course, this is the kind of mascara that you don’t need to be applyin’ right before a meeting or if you’ve got a toddler tugging at your leg. It will definitely take a good 3-5 minutes to apply everything.

The Moodstruck Transplanting Gel has a goopy and almost putty-like feel to it. It applies easily to the lashes and helps to bring them out a bit.

Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes gel wand

The key is applying the fibers on top of the gel while the gel is still wet. But obviously, right? The good news is, this is easy. The bad news is, you have to work at the speed of light. I’m not even kidding. I found that for the best results, it was imperative to apply the fibers within seconds of applying the gel.

Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes fiber wand

And like most fiber mascaras, removing this is easy. Simply wet your lashes and the fibers come right off. You will still need to use your regular makeup remover to get rid of the mascara that you used. But overall, I’m impressed with Younique’s version of a fiber mascara. Technique is everything when using one but it really helps when a brand provides a nice base (or in this case, gel) and workable fibers. As usual, you may suffer some fall-out while using this but you combat that by again, applying those fibers quickly and before the gel dries.

Do I recommend it?: Yes! It’s one of the better fiber mascaras that I tried.
