Do you have a favorite blush shade?

See you next week!

Who needs more money for beauty splurges? I dooooo!

Times are hard yo. But I don’t have to tell you that. Those gas prices keep climbing and the cost of spinach these days are crazy. Fo reals. I’ve become even more frugal (which I thought was impossible) by doing little things like putting Elle in cloth diapers and cutting my cable. I am also a HUGE proponent of shopping at thrift stores. I was doing it before it became popular in a song. Ha! And I’m all about selling items I don’t use to get some cash. Like those old CDs that I have from the 90’s…yeah. Those can go. I’ve practically gone digital when it comes to listening to music so who needs a CD?

Magpie does!

DVDs

If you’ve got a stash of CDs and DVDS that are just collecting dust, you could be sitting on a goldmine. I’m serious! Selling your old unwanted goods online can have you racking in some money, honey. And even if it isn’t a significant amount, who doesn’t want to get $10 from movies that you’ll probably never watch again?

Magpie is cool because it’s simple and it costs you nothing to ship your CDs and DVDs out to them. There isn’t any wondering about how much you’ll get paid because after putting in barcode information, you instantly get a price as to what your item is worth. Esposo and I already have a stack of DVDs that we’re going to go through to see if we can sell ‘em and get some extra money.

I think I can survive without watching Home Alone 2 on DVD again. And I’m pretty sure it’s on Netflix sooo yeahhhh.

Anyone else thinkin’ about saving money by selling CDs and DVDs?

Question of the Week:

Do you ever fall into a beauty rut?
If so, what types of things help to pull you out of it?

B says, “Yep! I’m in one now. Motherhood is my excuse. Actually, I blame pregnancy. I went 2-3 months without putting on makeup because I was just so sick and now it takes A LOT for me to do more than lipgloss, mascara, liner and powder. My life has changed and I just don’t have the time or desire to spend more than 15 minutes doing my face. I’m okay with that though.”

What about you? Have you ever been in a beauty rut?

Question of the Week:

How did you arrive at your current eyebrow
shape? Were you born with those brows, did you get them professionally shaped or did you shape them
yourself? And are you happy with them?

B says, “My brows are ridiculously thick. I mean, they are like fuzzy caterpillars growing on my face. I always hated them growing up but I now go to an amazing eyebrow threader who creates a beautiful arch for me. I then maintain them by trimming every few days but I am so so dependent on my brow lady.”

What’s your brow story?

GLOSSYBOX review – July 2013

It’s been a hot lil’ minute since we’ve tangoed with good ole’ GLOSSYBOX. And yeah, I know I’m like a month behind reviewing it but hey, maybe this review will motivate you enough to finally get that GB subscription that you’ve been lusting over for so long. I got this box for review and I think it’s oh so fitting for a summer beauty subscription box.

Glossybox of July 2013

Like all GLOSSYBOX boxes, this one came with a leaflet of what you’ll uncover after ripping the top off of your box.

Glossybox July 2013

I like to review these beauty subscription boxes by the diversity of their products and if their products reach a value of at least $21. That, to me, is very important. Yeah. I’m kinda nutty about it. Let’s get started…

Nail Inc. Baker Street nail polish

Glossybox Nails Inc

This itty bitty bottle of blue polish is fantastic. Nails Inc. is a pretty high-end brand and so even though this isn’t a full size bottle, seeing the baby version of one appear in a GLOSSYBOX is crazy exciting. Plus, this striking cobalt blue is stunning. I mean, dang…

Dr. Brandt BB Matte with Signature Shinerase

Glossybox

I’ve heard of this brand before but I didn’t know that they had a BB cream. Then again, who doesn’t have one? It’s a moderate sample size but they get a fail because the Light to Medium is far too light for me.

Nicka K New York ABSOLUTE Make-up Cleansing Tissues

Glossybox USA

These babies are a bonus item in this month’s GLOSSYBOX. Pretty rad bonus. 10 towelettes is enough to really test the product. They are heavily fragranced so you know they aren’t exactly up my alley.

Figs & Rogue Cherry Blossom Tinted Lip Balm Tube

Glossybox lip balm

Glossybox lips

This gorgeous tube of lip balm was the first thing eyes landed on when I opened up the box. My, what gorgeous packaging! The lip applicator (or lack of one) isn’t all that comfortable when it comes to applying. But this petroleum-free lip balm isn’t strong on the scents and the subtle pink shade will look flattering on everyone. I dig it!

BVLGARI Eau Pafumeé au thé Blanc Shampoo & Shower Gel

Glossybox Bvlgari

It’s a generous sample size but I don’t do perfumes and so even sniffing this gave me a slight headache.

Brazilian Blowout Açai Deep Conditioning Masque

Glossybox hair

For the gals who love keepin’ their do’s in check, this hair masque has enough product to give you a few tests of how the masque may work on your hair. That is, if you don’t have Rupunzel-length hair. I doubt I’ll give it a whirl. I’m just not really into hair products these days.

OVERALL:  This box was definitely worth at least $21. This is the norm for GLOSSYBOX as I’ve come to discover that they are pretty good with giving you products that at least meet what you’ve spent. And like all subscription boxes, you aren’t going to love everythiiiiing but with this one, there is something for everyone. They cover hair, skincare, nails, cosmetics and fragrances and that’s just no easy task. Another win for GLOSSYBOX .

If you haven’t signed up for  a box yet – head on over here  and do so.

Question of the Week:

Have you ever had your makeup done by a professional
makeup artist? If so, tell us a bit about the experience(s).

B says, “I have! Although not recently. I’m usually not very satisfied when makeup artists do my face. Except that one time Tia Dantzler did my face. She did an amazing job.”

Have you ever gotten your face beat by a MUA?

See you next week!
