Five Drugstore Concealers That You Should Try

Drugstore Concealers
Have you ever been really tired in the morning and had dark circles or bags under your eyes? Do you have imperfections all over your skin? Chances are you need a concealer to take care of those problems! I’ve tried a ton of concealers in my day and some have been really great and some have been absolutely terrible and I’ve felt like they haven’t done anything for me! So if you’re on the hunt for a concealer for you, I’ve made a list of my top 5 favorite drugstore concealers and maybe this list can help you decide when you go out to purchase one!
5. Black Opal Total Coverage ConcealerIt’s hard for a dark brown girl to find a drugstore concealer. The options just aren’t there. Black Opal, however, not only gives us a slew of shade options for darker skin but this concealer is dead on. It’s long-lasting, moisturizing and works very well alone or paired with liquid, creme and powder foundations.
4. Hard Candy Glamoflauge Concealer: This is another concealer that I also do not use for under eye coverage, it is even thicker than the previous concealer stick I spoke about, but it is PERFECT for when I need to cover up a bit pimple or anything like that! I think it’s primary purpose, at least for me is when I have a random breakout and really need some heavy coverage. This is fairly affordable, retailing for only about $6.00.

Be back soon, my loves. I hate to leave my blog hanging but…life, ya know? I am currently processing through some hiccups and between that and being just a tad bit overworked, some things have to be put on the back burner.

Posts will resume in a few days.

Thing I’ve Been Loving – August 2015 Edition

Technically this is a July 2015 edition since August is still brand spanking new but roll with me on this one, okay? I feel like I am really becoming more of a lifestyle blogger because as much as I love all things beauty, it’s non-beauty things that are peaking my interest these days. Am I outgrowing beauty stuff, y’all? Naw, never that. I still geek out over makeup and lovingly pet the nail polishes in my collection. But come on – there’s so much more to life and I am HEREEEE for it.

Most of these pictures are coming from my Instagram stream so if you follow me there, sorry for the reposting of things you’ve already seen. You still love me though, right?

First up…

I love food. I’m grateful that I can actually eat it. The first 4 months of pregnancy means I pretty much die and don’t eat. In fact, smelling food makes me sick. Now that I’m over that hump, GIVE ME EVERYTHING. In moderation, of course. I’ve been fighting most cravings but then I give into quite a bit, too. I try to even it out by consuming my fair share of veggies and getting a good 90 oz of water down each day. It makes up for my forgetting to take my prenatal pills almost every day. Or so I hope. I’m also into food styling which is so random because who cares? Just eat! But noooo, when I go out or I’m preparing something, I’m thinking about the area and lighting and all kinds of effects. I could be a food blogger! Just kidding.

Grilled Pineapple Salsa – Love on a Plate

Delicious pineapple salsa

I’ve been trying to be a good pregnant woman and eat healthily. Not gonna lie. It’s not easy. The cravings are out of control  and many times, I don’t even try to control them. I just give in. I’ve always had a sweet tooth and it’ll likely never go away but what I’m trying to do is get my sweets in via fruits and veggies. These are far better picks than the cr猫me br没l茅e I could eat daily, right? Also, we’re trying to provide more diverse food options in Elle’s diet. For once in her picky toddler life, she is actually open to at least TASTING some new things. So we’re running with this one. Which is why this pineapple salsa is such a fabulous idea.

Pineapple salsa dish

Full of color, nutrients and texture, enjoying this is easy because you can put it on anything. A chip? A cracker? As a side dish? In a salad? It works for so many scenarios and it’s addition makes the entire plate or bowl just that much more appetizing.

How Lupita Nyong’o Has Changed The Beauty Game

Lupita Nyong'o Lancome

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve done a fun post with my Makeup Wars sisters! This time we’re talking about our favorite celebrity for a beauty brand. It didn’t take long for me to think of this one. Naturally, I tend to be attracted to celebrity ads with celebs who are, you know, darker skinned. This doesn’t mean I can’t find beauty in all ads but I love to see women who look like me because even in 2015, it is STILL a rarity. That said, Lupita Nyong’o for Lanc么me is my current favorite celebrity for a beauty brand.

Girlfriend’s beauty is just breathtaking. I first fell in love with her acting and after that, there was her fashion, poise and speeches. Lupita has this glorious air about her and while I’ve never thought Lanc么me to be a brand that was highly diverse in their offerings for darker skinned girls, I’m happy they’ve added her to their ambassador lineup.. Granted, I’m more attracted to their mascaras than their foundations, but still. Lupita’s face and appearance in Lanc么me ads has proven several things:
