March Meetup of the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida group

Soooo, guess who hosted the March meetup of the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida group? Meeeee! It was so epic, y’all. As much of as I love my girlfriends, sometimes talking beauty talk with them just….doesn’t work. And the same goes for blogging. But to be able to be around 20 beautiful and talented women who get the whole beauty obsession and blogging thing was just pure joy!

How crazy is it that we didn’t even think about taking a group photo until about half of the girls had already left? Ha! Autumn 2011 marked my first meetup with the beauty bloggers in Orlando. And even then, there were less than 10 of us. We had a grand time swapping polishes, chowin’ down on yummy food and networking. Months passed, a few tweets were exchanged between us gals and I said, “Let’s get the ball rolling for another meetup.”

And so we did.

I reached out to some of my favorite brands (as did some of the other ladies) to see if they were interested in providing product samples of us bloggers. Through Twitter and Facebook, I tried to rally up as many beauty bloggers that I could find – and on March 3rd, we had our meetup!

I forgot to take pictures. Yah. I was so annoyed with myself for not taking ANY pictures but between attempting to being a good hostess and rummaging through the hundreds of bottles of polish that we brought him to swap and trade, taking pics just didn’t happen. But tons of  thanks to Pamela because she took fantastic photos.

We are already planning the next meetup and I can’t waiiiiit. If you are a beauty blogger, beauty enthusiast or makeup artist and are looking for other beauty lovers in your neck of the woods, put some feelers out there. I would have never thought we’d have a group of 20-something. Who knows? By the end of the year, we may have over 50 beauty bloggers at our next meetup.

See. Orlando is so much more than Mickey Mouse, y’all. We’ve got Premiere Orlando coming in June, The Makeup Show Orlando in November  and we’ve got a crew of some of the hottest bloggers around. Oooooh yeah.

Special thanks to our sponsors: Milani, Milani, Avon, Venomous Cosmetics, Cult Nails, tarte Cosmetics , Pure Ice, Overall Beauty, CVS Beauty and NYX Cosmetics.

As far as the fabulous ladies who were at the event – they are listed below.

Pretty Polishes: Cult Nails Captivated and Seduction

It’s easier to love a brand when you know the founder. Having met Maria of Cult Nails twice, I am just even more enamored with her mission and passion behind Cult Nails. And her ability to connect with her fans is just superb. Maria rocks and she’s totally one my sheros.

Maria gifted the gals of the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida group with two premium nail polishes. Captivated is has been re-released and Seduction will debut in the upcoming Divas & Drama collection. Both are fantastic and both are ones that you’ll WANT to snag sooner rather than later. Trust me on this. Because both polishes are sheer, I layered them over solid creme polishes.

Seduction is in a purple/red sheer jelly base with red, blue and pink iridescent flakes. It is amaziiiiiing!

Cult Nails does flakies beautifully. And this one is no different. Seduction is layered over a dark purple polish but the purple in the polish appears a bit blue in the sun after the flakies hit it. Which is cool. Look how majestic this looks…

Amazing, right? Then there’s Captivated. This baby took my breath away…

Dear heavens I love Captivated. I applied two coats of it over an orange creme and it just MADE the manicure. I should have tried Captivated solo as it probably could look like a shimmery jelly polish. I’m so confused as to what the golden specs that reside in Captivated are. They aren’t glitter and they aren’t flakies. I don’t know what they are but this bright tangerine is just stunning. So glad Maria brought this one back.

Both retail for $10 and can be purchased at CultNails.com. For now, Seduction can only be purchased in the Divas & Drama collection.

Whatcha think? Are these polishes not amazing or what?

TMI Tuesday: Are you where you want to be in life?

I’m at this really weird age in life. 27. There’s no “umph” in 27. It simply means I’m far from 21 and I’m almost 30.

Oh, and for the record. I’m not one of those gals in her “almost 30’s” that is freaking out about turning 30. I will never lie about my age and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to live to see another year. Funny thing is, sometimes I wake up expecting to feel this grown up, age of 27 and….I don’t.

The 20’s are such a confusing time. Let’s backtrack to see how much my life has changed in just 7 years.

-I got my first credit card at 21.
-I graduated from college at 22.
-I spoke at my first conference at 25.
-I purchased my first car at 25.
-I started my own business at 25.
-I got a job in the career of my choice at 26.
-I got married at 26.
-I moved addresses, cities and states over 8 times.

I’m sure I’m missing something but those were what I would consider to be the “game changers”. The funny thing about this age is that sometimes I don’t feel like I’ve done enough. I feel like I should be further ahead in my career. I want to make more money. I want to travel more. I really want kids but at the same time I’m enjoying not having them right now. I went back and forth with deciding if I wanted to go for a Master’s degree. My 20’s has me so ambivalent about everything.

I’m still struggling with being happy with where I am in life. I keep reminding myself that I am on the road to creating a financially secure and happy life for me and my family. And while I do have things I need to work on, at least I KNOW I need to work on them. And at least I make an effort.

Which, I believe, is all you can do in life.

Anyone other 20-somethings that can relate? Or any of those who are older that can provide some advice for us?

What about you? Are you where you want to be in life?
