CVS Beauty Summer Items + A Giveaway!

CVS Beauty

So I actually looked at the calendar and Summer doesn’t officially start until June 21st. How this is even possible when I’ve been living with 95 degree temps is beyond me. So yah. Summer has been in Florida for quite some time but for the rest of you folx, I am dedicated this summer beauty essentials post for you. In addition to prepping for a trip, I was also so looking to score some summer beauty items that I thought would be fitting with the change of seasons.

You know the drill, right? CVS graces me with a $50 gift card and I have to try my hardest to NOT go over that $50. Well, I did it! With a grand total of $45, I managed to get a slew of items while adding dollars to my Beauty Club membership. Here’s what I scored…

Look! I drove a compact minivan!

Yep, it’s another car review and I’m excited about this one because I had never even heard of this car. Once again, Drive Shop has been so wonderful in providing me with this Mazda 5 to test drive for a week.

I totally thought a sedan would be pulling up but no, the Mazda5 is really more of an extended sedan. And it’s more than family-friendly because this car can seat 6! You can’t really see this at first glance and honestly, I feel like the seats in the back are probably most comfortable for little ones, but still…no parent will ever scoff at additional seating! Especially when it comes in a vehicle that won’t have you making life decisions at the gas pump. The Mazda5’s gas mileage is similar to what my current sedan gets at 21 city MPG/28 highway MPG. I found that this car was perfect for so many different types of people and families.

Insane MAC Cosmetics Discount!

MAC Cosmetics

Girl. I can’t tell you the last time I walked into a MAC Cosmetics store. I mean, shoot…I haven’t even been to the website in a little over a year. My obsession with the brand fizzled out when I discovered other brands. You know, because for a while I only had eyes for MAC.

But lemme tell you something…they’ve been doing some things to their website since I last visited  and whooooa! Not only does it look good but it has inspired me to do some shopping. Maybe. I mean, we’ll see. A good little discount code is definitely making shopping a lot more appealing. Check this out.

If you use the code MACFAN1, you will get $10 off when you spend $50 or more.

I haven’t seen a promo like that from them um…ever. So hey, get in while the getting is good, babes. This expires on June 22, 2015 and I don’t believe those with PRO discounts are able to use that code.

Now riddle me this…what should I get? No, really. Some foundation, maybe? A pretty lippy? Tell me!

Girl Scouts Continue With Healthy Habits

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital and Together Counts. Yours truly used to be a Girl Scout. From the time I was about 7 years old until I was 13, I experienced so much of my life through that organization. The memories are plentiful! The camping, the trips, the cookie selling… I REALLY loved being a Girl Scout. I’m excited to know that Girl Scouts in steadily doing fantastic things. In a recent partnership with the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, Girl Scouts has put together healthy habits booklets to help readers get a better idea of how they incorporate energy balance in all that they do.

Healthy Weight Commitment

These booklets are absolutely FREE and are intended to inspire and encourage Girl Scouts (and really anyone…) to lead healthy lifestyles. I find this to be perfect timing because while younger girls and teens may get in the habit of not doing much physical activity thanks to technology, these booklets will not only help them get moving in achievable ways but help them understand the importance of steady movement. When I was a Girl Scout we went on a loooot of camping trips and nothing exerts more energy in the Florida sun that camping. From the hiking to the putting up of tents and trekking back and forth to outhouses, camping was extremely physical. I’m so glad to see that Girl Scouts are still camping. I can’t wait to get Elle into her first Girl Scouts troop.

Girl Scouts

You don’t have to be a Girl Scout to appreciate the information that these booklets offer. In addition to these booklets, the Together Counts Program by the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation has developed a principle called Energy Balance. It helps girls understand how to balance the calories they consume and the calories they expend. It’s best to understand this type of stuff at a young age, right?

For more information, you can visit the Together Counts website and follow Girl Scouts all over Facebook and Twitter.

This is a sponsored post on behalf of The blink Marketing Network and State Farm and all opinions are my own.

Get in the Groove

Good ole’ Clumps has been around for almost 8 years and y’all have been with me through so much. I’ve had so many exciting life changes in those 8 years. I went from being a freshly graduated single gal in California to being all professional’ish, married and someone’s mama. That last one still shocks because seriously…I had a kid? And I eloped? And I ran 10 races last year? Basically, life just keeps steadily increasing in many departments and I’m just grateful to continue to get a breath to see it happening.

I’m Inspired!

I don’t have to look far for inspiration. I am seriously surrounded by it. Shoot…glancing outside is a form of inspiration for me because if blue skies and green grass can’t inspire you in some way, check your pulse, homie. Being all connected to the internet means I am constantly being bombarded by images of super skinny models and their fake plumped lips all over Instagram. I mean, I am excited to see a plus size model on the cover of a major magazine. And dark skinned beauties like Lupita are still making headway, but do you know who is REALLY inspiring me? This lady here…

Senior Style Bible

Dorrie is 80 years old and she’s a fashion blogger at Senior Style Bible. Excuse me while I pick my mouth up all of the floor. Is she not the fiercest lady you’ve ever seen? Oftentimes we think of beauty and we think of stunning young girls with tight bodies, abs and perky breasts but look man, everyone doesn’t have that. I searched all over Dorrie’s site and was in such a trance at her styling choices, her overall attitude and her fervor for life. It’s so refreshing!

I’ve got girlfriends freaking out about turning a year older and dude, I celebrated entering 30-hood. I’ll embrace my 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and God willing, when I live to see my 80’s, you won’t be able to tell me anything. Why is it that we freak out about turning older? What’s the problem with this again? Dorrie is 80 years old and rockin’! Why in the world is that something to fear?

When I spot it, I’ll let you know. In the meantime, I’m wishing Dorrie was local to me so I could treat her out to lunch and just sit and marvel in her awesomeness.
