Mascara Monday: MAC Haute & Naughty Lash

You know what?  MAC Cosmetics gets an enormous fist from me. This mascara was listed on their website for months before it was released in store. No bueno for a mascara fiend like myself. Of course I could have ordered it online but who wants to wait THAT long? Well here we are, darlings….was this mascara worth the wait?
MAC Haute & Naughty Lash

Guess who’s baaack?

I’m back!

I know, I know…I really should have never just dropped off of the face of the e-earth like that, uh? My bad, y’all. I took a much needed withdrawal from the innanet. I SO needed it. Not to mention I started an evening/weekend job and OMG, I completely failed in the time management department.

But I’m back now and I have SO much to share with you. Here’s what reviews you can look forward to in the coming weeks:

  • OCC lip tars. Yuuuum….
  • Clarisonic Plus
  • My annual visit to the dermatologist. Has my skin improved since last year? Pshttt.
  • Orly’s Plastix collection. Sick of mattes yet?
  • CoverFX foundation…I think I found a winner, y’all.
  • Mario Badescu skincare products
  • Huetiful Hair steamer. Amazing!!
  • Zoya’s newest polishes
  • CoverGirl Queen’s concealers…SO brown girl friendly
  • Make Up For Ever’s HD blush
  • An eye shadow palette that has 120 shadows. Wow…sers!

…my Twitter fam has asked me to review my new Android phone so I think I’ll be doing that too. Yep, after 2 years and 3 Blackberrys, I have broken up with RIM and so in love with Android!

That’s not even half of it. I will also be hosting, co-hosting and volunteering for several events (that you’re invited to) in the Central and South Florida…including Shecky’s Girl’s Night Out in Miami! And I’ve got a lot of giveaways lined up.

OH! And I’m actively posting on the Clumps of Mascara Tumblr blog. It’s just random shots of products, events and looks. Not to be confused with my travel blog which is also on Tumblr.

So yep…I’m back and ready to par-tay! How have you guys been? Try any new mascaras? Have any products you think I should try?

Enjoy your weekend and see you for Mascara Monday!

The Story of Cosmetics and my confession…

Brace  yourselves, darlings. This is one video that may shock and scare you. Fact is, I’ve know a lot of what was mentioned but this the video really help put things into perspective about the products that we are using.

Can I be honest? I am super conflicted. While I own, use and review many real deal natural/organic, paraben-free products (aside from hair color, my hair care routine is predominately all natural), I still like to try out “conventional” products. Not to mention, those are the products that are most requested by Clumps of Mascara readers. I mean, think about it…how many of you would still read Clumps if I ONLY reviwed natural brands and products? My goal is to appeal  to many different women all over the world and let’s be honest…there is only a small number of us that use only natural products.

At the same time, I do not want you all to think that just because I rate a product as “GOOD”, that it means it is safe. Because, the truth is…a lot of them are not. In the future, I think I am going to incorporate more notices about the ingredients that are in the products that I review. That way, at least then, you can make a sound judgement on if you really want to purchase it or not…despite how beautiful the posted pictures are.

I want to be apart of the solution…not the problem. What do you think I should do? I could definitely use yall’s opinions and advice. I want to continue bringing you funny, engaging and informative reviews on ALL products but I also want to be sure that you are aware of products that can potentially harm your beautiful skin and health from the outside in.

I know natural and eco-friendly products may not be affordable and accessible for all, but I will make it my duty to host giveaways and find the best and affordable brands and products that give you the look you’re going for…safely. I

Leave me your thoughts in the comments or email me (Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com).

Love y’all,
P.S.
Thanks to my eco-beauty/lifestyle bloggers for being such inspirations. Especially you, Simply Natural!

The best of Clumps of Mascara a la video

I hope you’re having a fantastic Friday, darlings! I’m in the best mood ever. Ever have one of those days where nothing really happened but you’re just happy? I’m definitely having one of those days. Below is a video to make you laugh. It’s a compilation of some of my YouTube videos.

I am finally at the point where I’m okay with being me unapologetically. Are you there too? I certainly hope so. Life sucks when you can’t be you. I don’t know about you but I find NOT being me extremely painful. Celebrate yourself this weekend.

Speaking of celebrations, one of my greatest friends celebrates a birthday this weekend!

Happy birthday, Sam! Thank you so much for blessing me with the role of godmommy to the most perfect little girl in the world. You’ve always be a phenomenal woman in my eyes but motherhood has given me another reason to respect and admire you. You are amazing and I love you to pieces!

And if this baby face doesn’t make your day, I think you may need to check your pulse.

Enjoy your weekend!

Uh oh..blogger down!

So, uh…I’m sick. I can’t remember the last *cough* time I was sick. Yuck! Clumps posts will be slow as I heal myself with herbal and organic remedies. While I recuperate, check out some of the fabulous happ’ns in the blogosphere.

My mentor, sister-friend and fellow beauty blogger Afrobella is hosting her radio show this morning at 10 am CT/11 am ET. Since I’m at home, I can actually tune in. Yesss!!

I just registered for the Blogalicious Conference. Your turn!

My sister-friend and new Mommy over at Beauty Logic is celebrating 3 years and is giving away a Clarisonic Mia. The 419 of you that didn’t snag the one that I gave away now have another chance to get one. Hop to it!

UK beauty blogger and friend of mine, Yinka at Vex in the City is hoping to place Top 5 in the Cosmo Blog Awards. I think my girl has a chance but she needs your vote. Please oh please support her!

Health is beauty, right? If you’re lactose intolerant like me and stay away from animal and dairy milks, Yoli from Eco Chic Living and Green Savings shares other ways to get calcium in. Team almond milk!

Clumps Turns 3 was a Hit!

Clumps Turns 3 was the biggest anniversary celebration to date. I mean, it was HUGE! We received over 2,000 giveaway submissions. That’s a lot! Winners have not been selected for every giveaway and some giveaways are still running (including the BIG giveaway) so be sure to search Clumps’ archives to see what you’ve missed. I will post the Winners’ List as soon as all giveaways come to an end.

My mission for celebrating Clumps’ 3rd anniversary for an entire week was to shower Clumps’ fans and supporters with the opportunities to win some of my favorite products. This would NOT have been possible without my sponsors. As much as I love y’all, I would go broke spending more than $1,000 on products to give away.

Special thanks to  Avalon Organics, Beauty Ticket, China Glaze, Clarisonic, Clinique, Colgate, COVERGIRL, Diamond Cosmetics, EcoTools, Lancôme, Mario Badescu, Maybelline,
Milani, NYX, Reach, Sally Hansen, Softlips, Surgicare, tarte, Zoya and more.

To my Board of Directors…thank you ALL as I would not have been been able to get the word out without you guys.

Thank you to my fellow blog sisters who posted about Clumps! That includes Beauty Rookie, Gangstarr Girl, Vex in the City, StaceFace75’s  video, Ask Me What’s, Dirty Pretty Thangs, Coup de Couer, Milan Rouge, This That Beauty and countless others. And who can forget about those of you that re-tweeted giveaways, told your Facebook friends and emailed friends and family members the flyer. Thank you SOOOO much.

Thank you Clutch Mag!

A huge hug to Gee from Afro Glitz…she knows why.

I started Clumps out of nowhere and I am so humbled that it has reached women all over. If you don’t think Clumps can get any better, stay tuned…I have A LOT in store and our 4th anniversary will be even bigger!

Clumps Turns 3: Clarisonic giveaway!

I thought long and hard about the things that I wanted to give away for this year’s anniversary celebration. I wanted to give you guys the chance to win products that I loved. From my favorite nail polish lines to mascaras that rocked my world, I wanted to give y’all the opportunity to experience what I’ve experienced…products that actually do what they say they are going to do.

But if there is one product that I can say truly saved the way I felt about myself, it would be the Clarisonic Mia. I remember first purchasing it and being like, “Did I really spend THAT much money on a face brush?” But I was desperate because my skin was hectic.

I used to cry when I looked in the mirror. I couldn’t see my beauty beyond the acne. The Clarisonic was instrumental in my helping my acne clear up. Yes y’all…this brush truly saved my skin and allowed me to feel beautiful again.

But don’t get it twisted. True beauty really comes from inside. And I know I sound like some greeting card, but it’s true. I’ve always had issues with the gap between my teeth, my large lips and bushy brows, but it wasn’t until fair recently when I’ve begun to accept it all. This final giveaway’s question is all about what makes you feel beautiful. I hope that whatever it is, you continue to keep it in your life (as long as its positive). You are a Queen and deserve nothing but all of the happiness this world has to offer.

So without further ado…have your chance at winning the Clarisonic Mia.

Love you guys and good luck! You can add your entry by visiting here or submitting it in the contest box.
