Newsflash for nail polish obsessed Twitter users!

Thanks to my girl Katee over at E-Polish blog, I discovered that Zoya was on Twitter.

I was elated simply because I love Zoya and thought that by following them, I could stay abreast of the new collections and happenings over in the Zoya/Qtica world.

But following them is like following a slow walking old lady who is holding $10,000 in her hand with a sign on her head that says, “Take this money”.

I’m not even kidding. Zoya on Twitter has sales/specials exclusively for the people that follow them.

You see! Follow Zoya_NailPolish today to start a savin’.

Yall know I be lookin’ out for you. *wink*

Amor de Lacquer: MAC’s Hello Kitty Something About Pink

Welcome to another post of Amor de Lacquer….the series all about nail polish and nail care! Send me your requests, suggestions and ideas to Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

Beauty bloggers, make-up enthusiasts and Hello Kitty fans (I am all of the above, HA!) alike have been lemming after MAC’s Hello Kitty collection for quite some time. While I was quiet in my thoughts about the collection before the launch, I went from 0 to 193 when I saw the collection in person this past Monday.

I am sure you have heard much about it but if not visit HERE and HERE. Some of my favorite beauty bloggers have already tackled the collection, details and all. I have decided not to do a complete run down of the collection because I am far too lazy to do all of that AND I’m cheap. I only purchased 3 items. HA!

Enough of my rambling…let’s get to chattin‘ about one of the highlights of this collection.

Something About Pink nail polish

Ah yes…$11 for a bottle of polish. Definitely out of my price range considering I usually don’t spend more than $4/bottle on average but this was definitely a MUST have.

Yes, this cream looks perfectly pink in the picture but in real life it is a loud pink poppin‘ polish. And do I love it? Hells yea!

I wish I could, but I simply can not take credit for the beautiful application of it on my nails. If they look better than usual, it’s because I had a pro do them! My friend, Curls is a professional in the spa business and he actually doesn’t mind doing my nails. *gasp* I know, he’s great. His application was perfect despite the fact that SAP was a little thick.

“It drags a little bit at the cuticles,” he said.

2 coats and a clean-up later and I had a masterpiece. I had a serious photo shoot with this polish so don’t mind the artistic shots. LOL!

I know those watermarks are just horrific but there are some nail polish photo-swippinmofos on the net. It’s ridiculous. I can’t stop people from jackin‘ me but they’ll be doing some Clumps advertising too. HA!

You can get Something About Pink at any MAC store, counter and at maccosmetics.com for as long as supplies last. Which probably won’t be long since this is a serious coveted item!

Amor de Lacquer: Zoya’s Twist Collection, Part 2

Welcome to another post of Amor de Lacquer….the series all about nail polish and nail care! Send me your requests, suggestions and ideas to Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

A week or so back, I introduced you lovely people to Zoya’s Spring ’09 collection: Twist. Part 1 is here. Onward we go to Part Deux.

First up we have Jo. What a wonderful blue to my collection. I only applied two coats here but I would probably do three just because I love a complete opaque look. Jo has tons of sparkle but nothing too crazy. I would definitely rock this on the weekends for the perfect subtle yet showy nail color.

I really like Moxie! But then again, I would because it’s a creme. This color applied like a dream; I usually don’t have application problems with Zoya polishes. Moxie is a beautiful berry beet color that isn’t terribly unique but I love it just the same. I probably have a good 2 colors similar to this but nothing beats the application of a Zoya polish.

Think pink! Barbie pink that is. This photo may not show it but this polish is crazy bubble gum pink. It looks a little muted here but it really is a loud pink. Which I think is very pretty! I prefer it more on toes but would not mind rockin’ it on the hands either.

All in all, I am enamored with Zoya’s Twist collection. The colors are diverse and there is something for everyone–be it the nail polish addict or the conservative polish wearer. Malia would be my favorite out of the bunch with Harley coming in at a close second. This is my second Zoya collection and I can honestly say that I am a bonafide fan!

Buy these and more for $6/bottle at Zoya.com. Or better yet, get the Sampler for only $36!

A fan of Zoya’s Twist collection? Interesting? Not so much…..tell me what you think.

Beauty Review: Dazzle Dry System

Welcome to another post of Amor de Lacquer….the series all about nail polish and nail care! Send me your requests, suggestions and ideas to Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

I was given the opportunity to test drive the Dazzle Dry’s Quick Dry Nail System kit. If you aren’t familiar with this brand, here are some quick tidbits.

  • The supreme 4-step system for natural nail manicures that air-dries THOROUGHLY in a dazzling 5-10 minutes (um, it’s actually less than that).
  • Free of formaldehyde, nitrocellulose, toluene and phthalate.
  • Formulated for natural nails to keep polish lasting longer (not recommended for use on acrylic and artificial nails).
  • Lacquers contain a UV screen for color protection.

If you purchase the kit, you will get all of this…

Dazzle Dry Nail Prep
Base Coat
Color Lacquers (2)
Top Coat

In my video review, I apply each of the products and show just how quickly the products dry. I even run my finger over water. This stuff is serious!!

Dazzle Dry Nail System Kit from Clumps of Mascara on Vimeo.

Verdict:
It works!! No….I mean, it really works. My nails are ready to go in 2 minutes or less. The entire kit retails for $54 which is a little steep for nail products, in general. I am “into” my nails more than the average person so this is one investment that I can justify indulging in.

Do you have to use Dazzle Dry polishes with the base and top coat?
Actually, you don’t. I’ve used the Nail prep and both the base and top coats with several other brands and it worked perfectly. However, using THEIR color polishes ensures that the polish dries almost instantaneously. Which is to be expected.

Here’s my NOTD (nail of the day) using Dazzle Dry’s Scarlet Desire. I used the entire system and only did two coats of Scarlet Desire.

How gorgeous is that color? I love this system and highly recommend it! Check out the Dazzle Dry System and other cool thangs at VBcosmetics.com.

Polish pretty,

Amor de Lacquer: Zoya’s Twist Collection, Part 1

Welcome to another post of Amor de Lacquer….the series all about nail polish and nail care! Send me your requests, suggestions and ideas to Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

If I could be BFFs with a nail polish collection, I am thinking that Zoya’s Twist would be it! What a fun Spring collection. It offers a little something for every one. And of course, I think it is brown girl friendly. I have been getting quite a few emails/comments about “polishes that work for brown skin”. You know me—I think we can rock anything! But for yall’s sake, I will identify the polishes that aren’t as flattering on us. How’s that sound?

First up, Cassi. This color is described as a shimmering soft pink and I agree. It is just that! I was happy to have it as I don’t have any color in my collection like it. I think I would prefer it more on the toes than my fingers but she is a beaut nonetheless.

Now we have, Malia! Ohmigoodness, I love this color. I knew I would love it for two reasons alone: it’s purple and it’s a creme. My weakness!! And it doesn’t help that it has the same name as my darling baby cousin, Malia Obama. This color is described as a violet creme and man oh man does it look beautiful. It looks like one of those pastel easter eggs. My loctician couldn’t stop complimenting me when she saw me in this color.

If purple is my favorite nail polish color than grays would probably come in at a close second. I can’t get enough of them and Harley rocks my heart. This soft shimmering gray looks divine! I thought it would look like O.P.I.’s Sheer Your Toes but it is a more intense shade of gray and I think I prefer this one better. It’s an unexpected color from a nail polish Spring collection but I adore it.

Got your eye on any of these babies here? Buy these and more for $6/bottle at Zoya.com. Or better yet, get the Sampler for only $36! Stay tuned for Part 2 of Zoya’s Twist Collection.

Your fellow nail polish junkie,

Amor de Lacquer: Polish Storage

Welcome to another post of Amor de Lacquer….the series all about nail polish and nail care! Send me your requests, suggestions and ideas to Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

Once upon a time, a few months ago, maybe….I didn’t have many nail polishes.

“B!! Surely, you jest.”

Noooope, it was until very recently when I have started collecting nail polishes. This time last year I had less than 15. Now I have over 100. Which I know is more than the average person’s but I bet my favorite nail bloggers have three times as many. Nonetheless, if you walk any where in my super neat room, you are bound to find a bottle of nail polish somewhere.

By the television…

On the night stand…

They are every where!! I am still storing them in a crate in my closet.

What a mess! And that’s just half of them. My accessories are cramped somewhere else and it’s getting a little frustrating. I am a neat freak and I can not stand clutter or an over-abundance of anything. So it looks like I will be giving away the colors that I don’t use/like. But in the meantime I have to figure out how to house them neatly. Any suggestions?

How many nail polishes do you have? Give me an average number…

ETA: I have sense changed my nail polish set-up. Check it out here.
