3 Lipsticks From Cargo. Wait…3 AWESOME Lipsticks From Cargo!

Need a new brand of lipsticks to try? Duh!! Of course, you do? I mean…who doesn’t? I’m not sure what took them so long but CARGO Cosmetics recently launched their first ever lipstick collection.

Cargo Cosmetics

“Seriously B? They should have done that a long time ago.”

Cargo Essential Lip Color

Hmm mmm, girl. I said the same thing. I received 3 of the 13 lippies from the collection but whoa, I’m impressed. Aren’t I always impressed from CARGO stuffs? Yeah, I am. I got these lippies to review and I thought I’d quickly highlight the shades and talk about the awesome formula.

Cargo Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a pale beige, and let’s be honest. This shade is anything but flattering on me. But what it is, is a pleasure to use! Seriously, I love how creamy and opaque it was with only minimal application. This shade would definitely look better as a nude lippie on my ivory and olive mamas. It can also work nicely if (and only if) it is paired with a brown lip liner.

Cargo Punta Cuna

Punta Cana is a bright fuchsia that just screams “Look at my lips!” You either love it or don’t and I am definitely here for this bright richness of a lipstick.

Cargo Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a deep wine and if this doesn’t scream FALL, I don’t know what shade does. I don’t traditionally wear shades this deep and dark, but I don’t know…I think I’ll be making Bordeaux my signature shade this season.

These lipsticks are more than just hydrating. They apply beautifullllllyyyyy. And I know I’m all dramatic about it, but the silky smooth formula is just everything that I could ever hope for in a lipstick. And I’ve found that they last for a good little while. You know, for a lipstick.

Cargo Cosmetics lipstick

Fantastic quality, Cargo! Quiero mas. You can scoop these lippies up for $22 at CargoCosmetics.com or at ULTA.

Zoya Cashmeres Collection

It’s about to be a Zoya marathon around here for the next few weeks. After this collection, I have 2 more collections to review and I’m not even mad about it. Zoya has been doing some pretty awesome thangs in the nail polish world and I’m just honored to be able to get the chance to share it with y’all. I got this collection to review and Cashmeres is just well…

Zoya Cashmeres

…very lovely indeed.

Zoya Flynn

Flynn is a lush camel brown nude cream and well er uh…I’m just not a fan of how these kind of shades look me. They look like “too light” foundation. In fact, I think the only way I could successfully pull this off is with some glitter thrown on top. And said glitter needs to be a reallllly pretty glitter.

Zoya Sailor

Sailor is a classic dark navy cream. I can’t even begin to explain how much I loooove this polish. Yes, there are plenty of navy blues out there but Zoya does creams beautifully and Sailor is just sheer perfection.

Zoya Pepper

Pepper is a brick red cream and dang, this is a gorgeous. Yeah yeah, I know if you’ve seen one red you’ve seen them all but I love the smokiness of this one. It’s stunning!

Zoya Hunter

Hunter is a dark sea green cream and no one does luscious greens like Zoya. This is such a rich and luscious green.

Zoya Louise

Louise is a rich chocolate brown and it’s another color that I’m on the fence about. I definitely like it more than Flynn but I never know if brown polishes flatter me or make my nails look dirty.

Zoya Livingston

Livingston is a lush autumn red that is THEE perfect red for the season. I’ve got plenty of reds but this one is just perfect.

Bravo Zoya! What a stunning and season-appropriate collection. I love the uniqueness of the shades Louise and Flynn. But for my not so adventurous nail polish wearers, there’s Pepper and Livingston. You can snag the entire collection from Zoya.com for $48 or you can get each polish for $8 a pop.

Which polishes are your faves?

Oil On My Skin All Year? Yes Please!

It took a good 5 years, but my skin has finally calmed down to the point where I can actually go a few weeks or months without a pimple. Yes, y’all. This is a big deal. Pregnancy gave me a mask and a few blemishes but the postpartum life of lactating hormones doesn’t seem to affect me too much so I’m as happy as a clam, yo. So happy. It’s around the 70’s this week in Florida and a gal pal of mine was asking me if I recommended any skincare products to prep her skin for the cooler weather. And so I gave her some suggestions.

Seventh Generation Skin Boosting serum

And it wasn’t until I finished blurting them out that I realized that everything I mentioned was an oil. I love oils. I do. Can’t deny it. Mother Nature knew what she was doing by giving us so many glorious plant-based, ground-based, nut-based and fruit-based oils. I have dubbed skincare oils as the other liquid gold. You know, because breast milk is the first liquid gold.

Why do I love ’em?

Skin Boosts

They’re versatile

I’ve been playing around with these new natural skin serums from Seventh Generation. The brand recently launched 6 serums that help target various skin issues. The serums have oil bases as their primary carrier oil and then essential oils are dumped in. They are glorious and wonderful and I love that they have so many different uses. I’ve been going through the Clearing with Tea Tree oil serum and not only does it work well all over my face but I use it on dry patches on my skin too. Can’t say the same thing about your face cream. Most face creams just work…on the face. But a good oil, honey…a good oil can be slathered from head to toe.

They work for various skin types

My skin goes through changes during the seasons. My eczema goes crazy and I am practically moisture-less in the winter and during the warmer months, I sweat like mad and always have an oily T-zone. Oils work wonders year round for me. I tend to use a less greasy oil in the summer (like maracuja oil) but this winter, I’ll be all over my Seventh Generation Boosts.

They force you to pamper your skin.

Have you ever just slathered oil in 20 seconds and gone about your business? Naw. It doesn’t work like that. Oils require thorough application. Because I’m picky about an even distribution, I find that when I use oils, I gently rub them in my skin and give myself a mini facial massage. Dude, those 60 second long massages are the perfect start and end to my crazy long days. So yeah. If I’m not going to have a full blown body massage everyday, I am so grateful that my glorious oils force me to pamper my skin a bit.

Seventh Generation Boosts Clearing

If you’re in the market for a new oil but don’t feel like doing a ton of research and trying to find out what’s what…check out these Seventh Generation Boosts. They’ve got something for problematic skin (Clearing), to dry skin (Hydrating) and even those of us working on keeping those wrinkles at bay (Revitalizing). The oils are fragrance-free and wait for it, they contain..just oils. Nothing extra. No random synthetic ingredients. Just almond, grapeseed, apricot oils and luscious essential oils. You can use them solo (that’s what I do) or you can at a squirt or two to your current moisturizer or foundation. As an extra “boost”.

Seventh Generations Boots ingredients

They’re sold exclusively at Walgreens for $14.99 so you’ll have to track ’em down if you really feel like you need these. And I think you do.

They really are that fantastic.

Mascara Monday: Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless mascara

Rimmel Accelerator Endless

Once upon a time and many many moons ago, I fell in love with Rimmel’s Lash Acceleraor. I mean, I was head over heels in love with that mascara. For at least 6 months, every time someone asked me what my favorite mascara was I would blurt out “Rimmel Lash Accelerator!” with full fervor and conviction. I adored that mascara. And time has passed and it looks like Good ole’ Lash Accelerator has a sibling. I had high high hopes for Lash Accelerator Endless.

I mean, HIGH hopes!

Rimmel Accelerator Endless mascara

Price: $8.99 from CVS stores and CVS.com
Packaging (brush wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5

What It Claims: “Our first ultra lengthening mascara that defies the laws of lash length defies limits, has a formula with Micro-Fibres and Grow-Lash Complex and grabs every lash for perfect separation with no clumps!” (source)

The Truth: In.Love

What I Loved About It: This mascara has such a nice and thick formula. One coat is really all I needed to get such luscious lashes.

What I Didn’t Like: Because of that thick formula, clumping is definitely bound to happen. And you know how I feel about about clumps of mascara. 😎

Overall: The original Lash Accelerator mascara was launched over 3 years ago and while it has been a very long time since I’ve tried it, its awesomeness will forever be etched in my memory. You see, this mascara did amazing things. Its ability to provide length and volume was fantastic but it also had a really cool brush. I feel like Rimmel took that mascara, sent it to boot camp and the result is Lash Accelerator Endless. I love everything about the mascara. The wand is just…great!

Rimmel Accelerator Endless wand

I know old skool mascara heads often prefer the brush-style wand over the plastic wand and I do too sometimes but for this mascara, it works! The formula is a bit on the thicker side and a brush wand would really distribute more mascara than you’d like on your lashes. This plastic wand has such long and stiff bristles that it makes applying to the lashes ridiculously easy.

And because of that thick formula, you can really get away with applying just one coat. But of course I’m a rebel so I pushed it to two and even then, the mascara still applied with ease with only minimal clumping around the corners of my lashes. I really have no complaints about this mascara. It does everything you’d want your mascara to do. It applies with ease, it stays put all day and it gives you a great amount of volume and length. The claims say that with extended use it’ll help grow the lashes longer and of course I’ll never know that since I only test mascaras for a week at a time. But still..it’s a great incentive to keep using it!

I’m so glad to see that Rimmel did the Lash Accelerator name right. I am so in love with this baby!

Do I recommend it?: Heck yeah! And I’ll be recommending it as much as I recommended the previous Lash Accelerator.

I can’t believe I am just now reviewing this mascara but man, it really is as awesome as everyone has said. Have you tried it?

Eczema Suffers Unite! Eucerin Eczema Relief Instant Therapy is here to save us!

“Oh snap.”

That’s what I said when I found out that Eucerin was going to launch an eczema skincare line. I first learned about it while at their headquarters in Connecticut some months ago and I have finally gotten the chance to play with the products. I am so so excited about them.

Eucerin Eczema Relief Instant Therapy

As a Eucerin ambassador, I received these products to review and the timing was perfect because Elle’s skin was starting to break out. Yes, again. My poor chocolate dumpling of a baby can’t seem to run away from the eczema monster but that’s okay, I’ve got high hopes for Eucerin’s Eczema Relief products. She’s not alone in the fight either because apparently over 35 million Americans suffer from eczema. That’s a whooooole ‘lotta people and chances are you know someone that suffers from the itchy (and sometimes painful) condition. Or maybe it’s YOU that’s suffering from it. My Eucerin lovers will be happy to see these 2 new additions to the Eucerin line-up.

Eucerin Eczema Relief Instant Therapy

Eucerin Eczema Relief Instant Therapy creme

Of course my favorite thing about both products is that they are fragrance-free, free from dyes and don’t contain any steroids. The Instant Therapy Creme not only promises to calm eczematic skin, but it also helps to improve the appearance of irritated skin. This is huge for me because nothing says Mommy Guilt like your baby’s rough eczema plagued elbows. We haven’t used this on Elle yet but I’ve used it on my skin and I love the cooling effect that it provides. It rubs in easily and my skin feels moisturized. But it’s really the Eczema Relief Body Crème that has my heart.

Eucerin Eczema Instant Therapy

Clinically proven to improve hydration, improve the appearance of red, irritated skin and relieve itchiness of eczema, Eucerin Eczema Relief Body Crème is freaking amazing. I mean, seriously. I’ve been slathering this on Elle at night and have seen such improvement in her skin.

Eucerin

Her elbows are the roughest parts, mainly due to her scratching them but after quick warm baths, slathering her in this crème and covering her skin at night, she wakes up with elbows that are still moisturized and softer than they were the day before.

We’ll be buying this by the gallon in the next few months. Eucerin does it again! These products are available nationwide at drugstores and I’ve spotted the Body Crème at Target.com for $10.49. Pricey? Maybe but itchy eczema suffers know $10 isn’t TOO much when you’re in need of some relief.

* Disclosure: I am a Eucerin ambassador and while I do not get paid to write these posts I did receive these products and a gift card as gifts.

Zoya Zenith nail polish collection

I can’t believe that I am already talking about Winter 2013 nail polish collections. How is this even possible? Sounds crazy cliché but dang…time flies. I’ve actually got a ton of Zoya nail polish collections that I’ll be cranking out in the next few weeks and Zenith sparked my interest the most. I got this collection for a review and really it was that stunning blue holographic nail polish that had me swooning at first glance…

Zoya Zenith nail polish collection

You see it, don’t you?

Zoya Seraphina

Seraphina is a full-coverage, polaris silver metallic and as much as I want to love it, it’s pretty blah for Zoya. I know every color can’t be spectacular but I don’t know, Seraphina, you don’t seem to be as fabulous as your siblings here.

Zoya Payton

Payton is a galactic cranberry with holographic glitter and yassss, now we’re getting somewhere. This is what I’m talking about. Zoya does holographic nail polishes beautifully. Payton is just stunning and I love how dynamic it looks without a top coat.

Zoya Mosheen

Mosheen is an astro ice blue topper that works well on top of other nail polishes, of course. So I’m not madly in love with super sheer polishes but I kinda dig how this icy bar glitter looks on its own.

Zoya Belinda

Belinda is a gorgeous cosmic purple/blue metallic that beautifully changes shades when the light hits it. This is an interesting shade from Zoya. I don’t think I’ve seen them do a shade like this so this was a nice surprise to see in their line-up.

Zoya Cassedy

Cassedy is a celestial pewter metallic and man, isn’t that quite the description? Pretty dead on, if you ask me. At first glance Cassedy looks like a darkened grey but if you look closer, it comes off as a deep grey with just a hint of shimmery army green.

Zoya Dream

Dream is my favorite shade of the bunch because well, look at it! This deep space blue with holographic glitter can’t get any better. It applies like a dream (hehe, see what I did there?) and I just love how bright and bold this polish is with only 2 coats. It’s gorgeous!

Application of these polishes was ridiculously easy. I found it so refreshing to see a winter collection that didn’t have any traditional shades in it. Way to go, Zoya! Of course Dream and Payton are my favorites but I love that the collection has a little somethin’ for everyone.

The Zenith collection is available for purchase at Zoya.com for $8 a bottle or you can get the entire collection for $48.

Mascara Monday: Ck One Color mascara

CK One mascara

I received a sample of this mascara in a bag of goodies from ULTA’s 21 Days of Beauty. There was a mean sale of this mascara and I was so glad to see it for so cheap because I’ve heard amazing things about it. It’s one of those mascaras that so many people told me to try but I just never got around to trying. Until this week. I was rummaging through mascaras to see which one I needed to show love to and this baby popped up. And here’s the coolest thing about it…it’s blue!

Yeah, I know. Most of you are like…”Blue mascara? That’s like so 80’s.” I know. But I still get excited about them!

Price: $18 from ULTA stores and ULTA.com.
Packaging (brush wand): 4 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What It Claims: “Mascara by ck one Color has an adjustable mascara brush that creates customized looks and simplifies application with a quick twist of the cap. Precision curved brush and patented lycra technology amplifies, shapes, and lifts every lash for maximum volume.” (source)

The Truth: I think I like it!

What I Loved About It: I don’t know if I buy the whole “adjustable wand” thing but it’s still a fantastic mascara.

What I Didn’t Like: Adjusting the wand is hard!

Overall: Now and days mascara brands have to jump through all kinds of hoops to be appealing to us beauty guys and girls. Simply being a mascara that promises volume and length ain’t enough anymore. Mascaras have to not only bring volume, length and curl but they must pay our bills and rock our babies to sleep too. I’m just sayin’. So yes, this mascara is like all of the others in that it makes a lot of claims but its claim to fame is the adjustable wand. The concept isn’t innovative but I’ve never seen one like this before. With a turn at the top of the mascara your wand goes from this…

CK One mascara wand 2

To this…

CK One mascara wand

I don’t know if my wand was messed up or not but I found it hard to turn it…

Turn mascara

The shorter and plumper wand is supposed to help with volume and by making the wand longer, it’s supposed to help with added length. Does it work? Meh. I suppose everyone’s experiences will be different but I found that I got decent volume and length with both versions of the wand.  I love the plastic bristles. They are fantastic at combing through the lashes.

I found the mascara to last around all day and I love the stunning blue. Of course, blue mascara on dark brown skin and dark eyes doesn’t look as blue on me as it would on gals of other complexions but whatever. I still like it. The formula is spot on too. It’s a really nice mascara and I’m not sure if the adjustable wand is necessary but it’s a nice little treat to have.

Especially if you’re going to spend $18 on a mascara.

Do I recommend it?: Yep! There’s a purple mascara in this line too. I think I gotta try that one!

What do you think? Does the adjustable wand seem like a gimmick or have you found it to be effective?

AVEENO Baby collection giveaway!

Yo. It’s gettin’ cooler ’round these parts. By the way, I was never one to say “Yo”. I clearly watch way too much Breaking Bad. Best show everrrr! And when it comes to Elle’s skincare, AVEENO Baby has been rocking our world. The brand sent me some of their products and we’ve loved them so much that we’ve already gone and re-purchased some things.

Aveeno Baby skincare

Remember how bummed out I was about Elle and her eczema-ridden skin? I was breaking my neck trying to find a product that could not only alleviate her flare ups but prevent them from happening. Since she still drinks breast milk I decided to go gluten-free for 2 weeks and lo and behold, her skin cleared up. I’ve been on a gluten-free (and dairy-free diet) for almost 3 months and so far so good. Elle’s skin is flourishing. Every now and then she’ll appear with some dry patches and that’s when I like to use these AVEENO Baby products.

I used to be all “natural skincare ONLY!” but when your baby is clawing at her itchy skin to the point that she begins bleeding, you’ll try anything. Coconut oil and shea butter just wasn’t cutting it. I find that the AVEENO Baby products are mild enough to be used daily and Elle’s skin seems to feel better when I used them. Like the Baby Cleansing Therapy Moisturizing Wash…

Aveeno Baby Calming Wash

Baby girl doesn’t get baths daily (they’re too drying for her) but when she suds up, this creamy wash rocks. I love massaging it on her drier areas. The Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream is my favorite though…

Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy

We use this daily and it’s the only product that not only makes her skin FEEL better but it lasts throughout the day. We ran out of this stuff and ended up buying more.

Are you a mama that has a baby with dry skin? Or are you a mama to be? Or do you know a mama who could get some use out of these? I’m giving away the full AVEENO & AVEENO Baby Eczema Therapy collection.

Good luuuuck!

(congrats to our lucky winner – Patricia in Connecticut!)
