The cute and dainty COVERGIRL Smoochies Lip Balm

So COVERGIRL has these new lip balm-y type thingies and they take me back to being in middle school.

Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balm

Did anyone else buy lip balms that looked a lot like these at the hair store? Hmm. Okay, maybe that’s just me. These are definitely better than the hair store ones because the quality is nice and they don’t smell like artificial cherry gone bad. Every few years just about every big drugstore beauty brand releases this kind of product. COVERGIRL’s Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balms are super affordable and I like to dub them as the gateway beauty product for pre-teens and teens. This is how a beauty addiction starts, y’all. They always start with something as innocent as a lip balm.

CoverGirl Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balm

CoverGirl Smoochies

I’d let my preteen daughter wear them because the color is subtle and they lippie is actually moisturizing. I’m rockin’ Tru Luv here and I kinda how faint this is. If it were any deeper, this shimmery mauve probably wouldn’t compliment me too much.

CoverGirl Tru Luv

Not too shabby, huh? You can find these anywhere COVERGIRL products are sold for under $5. There are 12 shades of these and if you’re in the market for lip balm, you may like these. I totally want to hoard them all. Especially for nostalgia purposes.

Mascara Monday: Clarins Wonder Waterproof mascara

I’m back with another Clarins mascara! I am slowly working my way through their mascaras and when I got a press sample of this one, I couldn’t wait to put it to use. It’s a waterproof mascara! I am always on the hunt for a good waterproof mascara. Especially in the summer time. I had high hopes for this bad boy…

Clarins Wonder Waterproof mascara

Nothing fancy in the packaging department…

Price: $27.56 from
Packaging (brush wand): 4 out of 5
Overall: 3 out of 5

What It Claims: “The name says it all. This mascara not only creates volume, curl and definition but is also resistant to water.” (source)

The Truth: It’s waterproof…but only for a split second.

What I Loved About It: It has a fantastic formula and wand.

What I Didn’t Like: It just wasn’t…waterproof.

Overall: I’m a fan of Clarins. I haven’t featured many of their products but I’ve been messing around with them for a while. I’ve reviewed one of their mascaras before and I had high hopes for this one. Then again, I tend to think that when you spend a good chunk of money on higher-end cosmetics, they SHOULD work. Of course that isn’t always the case but hey…a girl can dream. At first glance, this mascara appears to have it all. It’s got decent and unassuming packaging and the wand is nice.

Clarins mascara

It reminds me a lot of those super cheap mascaras. And not in a bad way. It’s simple,  sweeps well through wonky lashes and it gets the job done. It isn’t plush so you won’t achieve insane volume but that’s okay because it’s a waterproof mascara. Any added volume would just be a perk.

Initial application of this mascara is grand. The gel-like formula laid on my lashes with ease. But because it’s a waterproof mascara I wanted to ensure that it could hold up if water hit it. So I dunked my face in a sink full of water and…the mascara stayed! I didn’t see any smudging and I was elated. And then I let my face dry and before I knew it the mascara was flaking off of my lashes. Oh boooo! It broke my heart, really. I tried testing the mascara again by spritzing my face with water and while the mascara stood up a little bit better, it eventually started to flake away. Dang it, man. The volume and lengthening is actually really decent so I was so sad that the waterpoof-ness wasn’t up to par.

Do I recommend it?: If you’re looking for a waterproof mascara, PASS. If you’re a Clarins lover who needs a decent amount of volume, go for it.

I’m still on the hunt for a fantastic waterproof mascara. Have you found one yet?

The Very Cool Schick Quattro TrimStyle razor

This sponsored post is brought to you by Glam! Remember that time I told you I’d be reviewing the Schick® Quattro for Women® TrimStyle®? Well, I’m baaaack. I’ve had my eyes on this razor for years and I can’t believe I’m just now reviewing it. I’m not going to be hitting the beach and pools as much as I’d like to this summer but that doesn’t mean I don’t have to keep the hair situation in tact. Y’all know I have no issue with hair on the body but let’s face it, rockin’ shorts, skirts and swimsuits looks a lot better when you don’t have grizzly-like hair crawling up your legs. Trust me on this. And so the Trimstyle is crazy useful. I had a quick trip to NYC a few weeks back  and what better time to test drive a new beauty product than when you’re traveling?

Schick razor

Things To Love About The Schick® Quattro for Women® TrimStyle® Razor:
-The trimStyle razor and bikini trimmer is a battery-powered vibrating trimmer.
-The handle is easy to control.
-Portable. Although it’s heavier than the average razor, it is still small enough to toss in a bag.
-Contoured rubber handle. It doesn’t seem like a big deal but the rubber handle gives great control.

Schick Quattro

Gorgeous handle, huh? My biggest issue with shaving is that a lot of the times the handles just won’t fit nicely in my hands. I don’t have that problem with this baby. The battery-powered vibrating trimmer just needs 1 AAA battery and it is housed nicely in the handle. You won’t have to worry about any water seeping in. I’m not sure if the vibrating makes much of a difference when shaving but hey, it’s a nice little feature to have.

Perfect for taking on trips and for keeping in the shower, I’m adding this razor to my list of awesome razors. I’ve already got a few other Schick razors on that list so this kid will be in great company. So yes, my loves…if you’re looking for a razor this summer, I’d definitely take a look at this one.

True Life: I put gel on my face. And I liked it.

My love for NUANCE Salma Hayek products continue. I hosted a party on behalf of the brand a few weeks back (post coming soon) and now I’ve gone from liking the brand to being totally obsessed. I mean, what’s not to love? The products are affordable, easy to find and they are preservative-free. This CVS-exclusive brand has quickly become one of my favorite brands and it’s because their products always feel high-end.

Like this gel cleanser…

NUANCE Salma Hayek Gel Cleanser

Man, this stuff is fantastic. I’ve been using it for a month now and it is absolutely wonderful. I spotted this at one of my CVS’s (but haven’t seen it at any others) and I can’t believe I waited so long to try it. Both oily and dry skin lovers can get behind this because it’s hydrating, soothing and cleansing. I know people are suspicious about cleansers that don’t foam up but you really don’t need suds to thoroughly cleanse the skin.

Salma Hayek Gel Cleanser

And yeah, I can be a lover of the suds too but this cleanser is just ridiculously refreshing. Especially on these too hot to think Florida days.

NUANCE Salma Hayek Gel Cleanser promises

NUANCE Salma Hayek Gel ingredients

-It feels cooling. If you’ve got sunburned skin, this will feel so good on your skin.
-A little goes a long way.
-The woodsy fragrance is niiiiice. And because of that, men may like this cleanser too.
-It thoroughly cleanses the skin. I checked by using a makeup remover after using the cleanser.
-Great and gentle enough for acne prone skin.

-The lack of suds may have you questioning if your skin is really cleansed.
-It is not suitable for cleaning off waterproof makeup. You’ll need a makeup remover for that.
-May not be available at your CVS.
-It’s a tad bit pricey for a drugstore face cleanser.

Cost– $9.99
Where To Buy – CVS stores and
Do I recommend it? – Yep, I think it’s fantastic!

Have you tried any of the Nuance skincare products yet? Oh! And if you haven’t checked out the cleansing wipes, ooooohmiiiigoodness, you better get on it. Stat!

Coming Soon-Avon Mega Effects Mascara

Okay, so I don’t do “sneak peek” type posts often because I think they’re kinda cruel. It’s like, “Look at this awesome new product that you can’t buy yet!” And if you’re like me and obsess over things that you can’t have you’ll think about this product all day. You’ll dream about it and it’ll just annoy you that you can’t get it. So no. I don’t do that to y’all. Because I love y’all that much.

But…there’s an exception to every rule, right? I just HAD to show you some sneak peek shots of Avon’s new Mega Effects mascara. It comes out in July and this mascara is going to single handedly change the game!

See what I mean? How is this even possible? I know. I know! it’s the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time. I’ve been testing it for quite some time now so of course you can look forward to a review soon. Just know that you’ll probably want it. So yeah. Go ahead and save your $10.

China Glaze Texture nail polish collection

My nails are going through some craziness and right before they all popped off I got the chance to swatch China Glaze’s Texture collection. I am still obsessing over texture nail polishes. China Glaze’s are a little different from the Zoya Pixie Dust nail polishes though. These are TRUE textured polishes. They feel bumpy , matte and eccentric. I received this collection to review and if you are a fan of the textured nail polish look, I’m thinking you’ll love these.

China Glaze Texture collection

China Glaze Unrefined

Unrefined is a baby pink. Y’all know I’m no fan of pink polishes but this one definitely has some personality.

China Glaze Of Coarse!

Of Coarse! is a bright, cobalt-blue and I thought for sure this one would stain the nails but a good base coat prevented that from happening.

China Glaze Itty, Bitty & Gritty

Itty, Bitty & Gritty is a melon that I actually looks nice. I’m always iffy about shades like this one but somehow it works.

China Glaze In The Rough

In The Rough is a light lime green. I had a hard time photographing this but it is definitely as bright as it appears. I’m not sure how flattering it is on me though…

China Glaze Toe-tally Textured

Toe-tally Textured is tangerine-orange but it is really very neon. I mean CRAZY neon. I like it!

China Glaze Bump & Grind

Bump & Grind is a hot pinkish-red. I had tough time photographing this one too but it’s probably the most “regular” of all of the colors.

Must Haves:
Toe-tally Textured: It’s just crazy bright and awesome.
Itty, Bitty & Gritty: It’s perfect and sweet and great for those who aren’t really into textures but want to try something different.

I like these textures. A LOT. I really didn’t think I’d like them this much. I found the formula to be easy to work with. For foolproof application try waiting a good 3-5 minutes before applying the second coat. I’m not sure these last as long as a regular nail polish though. In fact, I found them to chip pretty quickly. But whatever…they are still worth the effort because I just think they are that captivating. Way to go China Glaze! Of course you can get these anywhere China Glaze polishes are sold but if you don’t mind waiting and paying for shipping, you can snag them for $3.25 a pop at

Yay or nay to these polishes?

Put Some Shimmer In Your Life With Oro Gold Cosmetics

Oro Gold Cosmetics

I remember going through this insane “gold everything” phase in middle school. I had everything from gold necklaces to gold bracelets, rings and earrings. And the worst part is, I would wear them altogether. Just about everyday. Crazy, uh? I’m not as in love with gold as I used to be (I love white and rose gold though) but I am all over the brand Oro Gold Cosmetics.

You have heard about Oro Gold, haven’t you? Technically the name of the brand is “Gold Gold” because “Oro” is the Spanish word for gold. Ha! And the crazy thing is, there is actually GOLD particles in these products. Yeah, I know…who knew gold was actually good for skin? Oro Gold Cosmetics has cosmetics for everyday use as well as skincare products that promise to transform your skin after multiple uses. I have yet to try anything from them, but I’ve got my eyes on quite a few of their products. The good thing about their products is that they are so specialized. Like, where else do you find a brand that has products JUST for neck care?

I’m not sure but I’m pretty sure when aging first starts to show its signs, one of the first places it hits is the neck. I think I’m saved by genetics because neither my grandmothers nor mother have sagging neck areas. But, just to be safe I’d love to dabble in Oro Gold’s 24K Neck Lift Cream. This baby promises to lift and adds a ton of moisture to the skin. I’m guilty of not really paying attention to the neck area and it’s high time that I start preventive care in that department.

Then there’s the Oro Gold Cosmetics 24K Vitamin C Facial Cleanser. I mean, who wouldn’t want to use a cleanser that has Vitamin C and 24K gold in it? The foaming action is supposed to be great for not only cleansing the skin but for removing makeup as well. Um, yeah…that’s definitely up my alley!

Wanna feel super fancy? I do! Oro Gold Cosmetics 24K Collagen & Caviar Mask looks spectacular! This product contains 4 super products: 24 Karat Gold, Caviar, Collagen and Aloe. I can’t pretend that I knew caviar has been used in skincare products but hey, I’m all for putting some on my skin if it promises to hydrate beyond belief and keep those wrinkles at bay. The things we do for great skin, huh? A tub of this is pretty pricey but directions only tell you to use it once a week. That seems reasonable enough for me!

Orogold Cosmetics

So yes, I’m all for taking care of the face but what about the body? I am huge about taking care of the skin all over. I couldn’t ignore my skin if I wanted to, as it is super sensitive. I so need that Golden Body Butter in my life. I’m a fan of all body butters but I tend to adore ones that are shea butter dumped in them. Shea butter is a stable in my life so it only makes sense that I obsess over skincare products that have shea butter in them.

Obessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ Lip Tar Stained Glosses ROCK!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. Just the sheer utterance of those words sends sparks flying. I could marry a beauty brand, I would marry OCC. We’d get along great too in our happy, vegan, multi-purpose world. OCC is just…amazeballs. And yes I know I featured them last week but baby, I’m back!

OCC Lip Tar Stained Gloss

And then some. I was sent these new stained Stained Glosses of theirs and well, yeah…I’m in love. Esposo, baby, you better watch out. These glosses are stealing my heart!

OCC Lip Tars

Have I told y’all bout my reoccuring obsession with all things rainbow? I fell hard for rainbows when I was in elementary school. Somehow the bug has bit me again and now I can’t stop hoarding rainbow’y stuffs. Or giving rainbowd’d kisses.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics

I know. I am just in love with color these days. Or…everyday. Let’s do a rundown of these beauties, shall we?

OCC Jealous

Jealous is a popsicle pinkish red. I find this Lip Tar Stained Gloss to be the most wearable out of the 6. Jealous is just perfect by herself. I didn’t need an additional or anything. Sheer perfection!

OCC Androgyne Lip Tar

OCC Androgyne

Androgyne is a sheer orange gel. I almost looks neon in the tube but it’s surprisingly wearable once worn on the lips. I didn’t think I could pull this one off but I love it!

OCC Voyeur

Voyeur is a yellow glaze and I’m pretty sure this won’t look flattering on anyone. I reckon this gloss will better be used as a mix with other glosses.

OCC Rhythm Box Lip Tar

OCC Rhythm Box

Rhythm Box is my absolute favorite of the bunch. This purpled burgundy is just stunning and I could easily wear it every day. I found it to be the most pigmented of all of the Stained Lip Glosses.

OCC Lip Tar Meta

OCC Meta Lip Tar

Meta is a red orange shellac and I didn’t think it would work well for me, but it did! I tend to wear blue toned reds but this one shocked me. She is a beaut!

OCC Lip Tar New Wave

New Wave is a glassy neon pink. It isn’t as neon on the lips as it is in the tube. Still pretty nice though.

Mixin’ the lippies…

Man, I love these. It’s really hard not to love stuff from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics though. These are $18 a pop at Sephora so they aren’t cheap but I’ve spent my lunch money on OCC lippies more times than I count. My favorite? Jealous and Rhythm Box are niiiiiice. I hope OCC does more of these Stained Gloses. The “stained” power wasn’t as long-lasting as the regular Lip Tars but they blend nicely, moisturize the lips and are more pigmented than I thought they’d be. So yes. I adore them. And I want more. I needs more!!

Any OCC lovers in the house? Have you tried the Stained Glosses yet?
