St. Ives Pear Nectar & Soy Body Wash – so fruity!

Welp. Spring time is here. And that means it’s time to switch up the body products. Yes, darlings. As the seasons change, so do my body preferences. I prefer thicker butters, creams and soaps in the winter time but now that it’s warmer, it’s time for somethin’ a little different.

Like this kid I got sent to review!

DSC_7255

Okay, so we all know how I feel about fragranced products. Yeah, I just can’t get down with too many of them but whatever – I know I’m in the minority and it just so happens that St. Ives’ products aren’t insanely fragrant. Yes, this smells like pears but not in an overwhelming OMG, I’m going to throw up this smells so bad kind of way. Which is awesome!

DSC_7258

DSC_7263

Like all St. Ives products, this baby is free of parabens and all of that yucky stuff. I asked Esposo what he thought of the fragrance and in typical male fashion, he was totally off. “It smells like bubblegum,” he says. Okay no. It smells nothing like bubblegum. It smells like a fresh pear. Really!

It’s a body wash that is probably best for those with oily skin. It’s a bit on the clear side so if you have super dry skin, it may lack some of the moisture that you may need.

DSC_7264

Somehow my eczema didn’t flare up too badly with this so I’m doing cartwheels. St. Ives always does a grand job with um, everything. Yes. This is a nice addition to their skincare line. I love!

Whatcha think, St. Ives fans? Would you get down with a pear smellin’ body wash?

Pretty Polishes: Milani Fast Dry nail polishes

Milani High Speed Fast Dry polishes have some new shades this season. Woo hoo! I received a few of them to review so of course I’m sharin’ them with you lovely people.

Milani Fast Dry polishes

Hereeeee we go!

Milani Flaming Race

Flaming Race is a red coral creme and ohmigoodness, I ADORE this color. My camera is making it look mostly red but ignore that. It is a true and wonderful coral. I can’t stop staring at my nails when I wear this.

Milani Pink Express

Pink Express is a light pink cream and you know how I feel about those. Once you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. Blah.

Milani Move on Mauve

Move on Mauve looks all plain in the bottle but this this mauve pearl has a beautiful undertone to it. If you look closely, you can spot subtle magenta shimmer. This is the kind of shade that was on its way to being all Granda-y but it made a fierce comeback.

Milani Rapid Orchid

Rapid Orchid is a deep and vampy purple that looks black on the nails.

Milani Quick Teal

Quick Teal is a gorgeous teal and of course I’m having issues capturing its awesomeness. You HAVE to wear a base coat when wearing this nail polish. If you don’t, you will definitely endure blue stained fingernails.

Milani Instant Pearl

Instant Pearl is an off white pearl. It’s nice. It’s a great wedding shade for the bride with a little bit of spark.

The Beauty Basics

Price: $4.99/bottle
Availability: At drugstores and MilaniCosmetics.com.
Limited Edition?: No
Favorites in collection: Move On Mauve, Quick Teal, Flaming Race

Well, well, well…I can’t say these polishes are my favorite Milani product. For one, the formula on them kinda suck. They were all on the thick and goopy side. It made application difficult, especially when going for a second or third coat. And they really don’t try fast. I mean, at all. My nails were still wet after a good 10-12 minutes of polishing. It’s a shame because I think the color ranges are great but the formula could definitely use some work. Ah well. I’ve still been rockin’ Flaming Race for 3 days now. They aren’t exactly 1-coaters either. I had to apply at least two coats for each polish to get an opaque finish.

Zoya PixieDust nail polish collection

2013-03-20

Say hello to one of the most popular nail polish collections of the season! The textured nail polish trend is like…huge and Zoya’s Pixie Dust is one of the leaders in spearheading this trend. Like most nail polish trends, when it comes to the textured look, you either love it or don’t. I happen to be a fan of the sparkly matte bumpy look so these are right up my alley. DSC_6900

Chyna is a red dazzle sparkle and this is probably my favorite out of the bunch. She would probably look dynamic alone but man, I love how sparkly she is even with a dull matte finish.

DSC_6907

Nyx is a periwinkle sparkle and she is one of the lighter shades in the collection. I found that the matte look wasn’t as apparent but it’s still a very pretty and Spring appropriate shade.

DSC_6915

Godiva is a soft nude sparkle and she looks a little funky on my complexion. Pretty still? Yes. It’s the kind of shade I’d wear to work if I wanted something with a subtle pop.

DSC_6923

Dahlia is my second favorite because dang, look at that sparkle! It looks a lot like charcoal but the sparkle is just so unique and pretty.

DSC_6936

Vespa is just as sheer as sheer as Nyx and has a nice mint appearance to her. I don’t know if I’m a fan of the PixieDust formula on lighter shades.

DSC_6943

London is a fog gray that rocksssss.

Favorites in collection: Chyna, Dahlia and London

Application of these were niiiice. I didn’t have any problems whatsoever. And you would think that removal would be horrific a la removing glitter nail polish, but nope, I didn’t have any issues at all. I’m all over this collection and since Zoya has announced that they’ll be coming out with more PixieDust polishes for the Summer and I am going to be all over those. What do you think? Are you a fan of the textured nail polish look or not so much?

OPI Bond 007 Liquid Sands polishes

I am all over these Liquid Sands nail polishes. Have you tried them yet? I am beyond hooked. I love them more than I loved mattes and crackle nail polishes. They are so fun and unexpected. I mean, WHO would have thought we’d be rockin’ textured nail polishes? Crazyyyyyy. OPI is giving us the Bond Girls, a collection of six new Liquid Sand nail lacquers featuring a textured, matte finish infused with reflective sparkle fitting the allure surrounding the Bond Girls*. I got these for review and couldn’t wait to get my nails on them.

2013-04-16

Literally.

DSC_7655

Vesper is a dark purple and I think it has the bumpiest look out of all of the Liquid Sands. I love it! Plus it’s a purple that actually looks purple. That’s hard to come by among dark purples.

DSC_7672

DSC_7675

Honey Ryder is a shimmery gold that has a nice dose of silver intertwined up in it. It’s an interesting color and I didn’t think I’d like it but somehow it works.

DSC_7686

Jinx is my favorite of the bunch! OPI says its a coral but it is really so much more. It’s a fire-y red and punchy orange. It is the definitely the kind of polish you’d want to rock if you want statement nails.

DSC_7706

Solitaire is a diamond sparkling white. This is such a gorgeous wedding color for the bride with a little personality.

DSC_7729

Pussy Galore is a baby pink and if you look closely you can spot a bit of neon pink shimmer.

DSC_7743

Tiffany Case is a gorgeous sea blue but it gives smurf fingers. Look!

DSC_7749

Yeah, so it doesn’t matter how gorgeous a polish like this is. The staining doesn’t make it worth using. :tears:

Pretty groovy collection, uh? You either like the textured nail polish look or you don’t. And if you don’t, that’s okay. If some of these colors scream your name, you can probably layer a top coat over it for more of a glossy effect. The texture will still be there but you won’t have the matte finish. I’m a fan. I absolutely love Liquid Sands!

China Glaze Avant Garden Collection for Spring 2013 – part II

2013-03-12

I’m back with part II of the lovely and dainty Avant Garden Collection. If you missed it, part I is here.

DSC_7042

Mimosa’s Before Mani’s is a sweet and squishy orange polish. It reminds me of orange sherbet with a bit of shimmer. It doesn’t look like a mimosa though. Just sayin’.

DSC_7047

Fancy Pants is an amazing royal blue with pink and violet shimmer. It’s a gorgeous and unique nail polish and it’s one that I’d definitely list as a top nail polish color of the year.

DSC_7051

Sunday Funday is a bright blue that my camera is photographing all kinds of wrong. While it looks like a bright baby blue, it really leans more on the turquoise side of things.

DSC_7059

Passion for Petals is a bright salmon pink that is actually a very nice shade of pink. I tend to think that most nail polish brands overdue pinks but I really like this one.

DSC_7063

Budding Romance is a moss green and it’s one of those fuguly greens that you either love or hate. I really like ‘em. They are murky and funky if you’re in the mood to wear a green polish that isn’t really “green”. You know what I mean, don’t you?

DSC_7069

Snap My Dragon is a bright red with pink shimmer. It’s gorgeous alright, but nothing too striking and unique.

What an interesting collection! I love that it doesn’t have just the regular ole’ pastel Spring-y colors. Well, you’ve got some of those but you also have some interesting shades as well. I didn’t have any problems with the formulas either. And it’s pretty random but these polish names are so strange to me. Or is it just me?

New Polishes From Hard Candy!

So this week I’m going to be cranking out a toooon of nail polish posts. I’m behind on putting some thangs out and wanted to hop to it before the seasons change. About a month or so ago, Hard Candy released several new polishes. And not like 10 or 20. I’m talking like…50. It was a huge new collection and these polishes were landing in Walmart stores nationwide. Beauty bloggers were going crazy because these polishes were just…stunning. And there were so many different shades and formulas. Not just creams and shimmers but holographics and glitters. ZOMG is right. I finally spotted a few of ‘em and between those and the ones I was sent for review, I am so in love with Hard Candy right now.

2013-04-08

Beautiful, aren’t they? There are so many more that I want to scoop up. I am nowhere near done with my haul of HC polishes. But these will keep me satisfied for a good…week or so.

DSC_7572

DSC_7581

Little Bo Pink is a shimmery hot pink. It’s so pretty! And there is something crazy unique about it. It reminds me of sparkling ocean water. Except pink water. Crazy description, I know but I am totally drawn to this pink. And I am NEVER drawn to pink nail polishes. Or the color pink in general.

DSC_7588

Black Tie Optional is a white and black glitter with specs of hexagon glitter bits. Yep, it’s cool. I’ve seen a ton of indie brands release a polish like this but I haven’t seen many of the bigger brands pull this off. It’s an awesome top coat and can spruce up any polish.

DSC_7598

Crush on Gold is a warm gold foil. It’s not super spectacular but if you dig foils, you’ll like this one. I loved how smooth the formula was. It was nice and smooth at only 2 coats.

DSC_7606

Tinsel Town is a purple and gold glitter meshed with turquoise glitter. It’s pretty much New Orleans in a bottle. I layered it over Crush on Gold for some extra bling!

DSC_7622

Gummy Green looks like mint chocolate chip ice cream on the nails, uh? The black and white specs stand out beautifully against the mint base.

DSC_7635

Cotton Candy Pink is a baby pink with purple and silver glitter and teeny hexagon specs. I think I love this one more than Gummy Green

This is my first time trying Hard Candy nail polishes in a loooong time and I was impressed. The quality of these were spectacular. I applied 2 coats for each polish (except for the last 2. I used 3 coats for those babies) and formulas were all nice and smooth. Go Hard Candy!

Price: $4/bottle

Worth the price?: Absolutely!

Have you gotten any of these Hard Candy polishes yet? They are flying off of shelves like you wouldn’t believe…

OPI Euro Centrale Collection for Spring/Summer 2013 – Part II

2013-03-10

I’m back with part II of this OPI’s gorgeous Euro Centrale collection. If you missed it, check out the other 6 here. Let’s wrap things up with these babies…

DSC_7005

Vant To Bite My Neck? is a deep eggplant that isn’t all that unique as far as purples go. It’s a nice creme that applied with ease and had an opaque finish with only 2 coats.

DSC_7014

Oy-Another Polish Joke is a shimmery gold that works well alone but it would probably look better layered on top of another shade. The funny thing is, I didn’t even think to layer it. Ha!!

DSC_7020

My Vampire Is Buff is a creamy buttercream. It’s stunning to look at. It’s a nice and clean shade.

DSC_7028

Hands Off My Kielbasa! is a bronze-y tan and without the shimmer, I would totally label this shade as a Grandma color. It’s just okay in my book. I like how it looks on my nails but there isn’t really anything special about it.

DSC_7032

I Saw..U Saw..We Saw…Warsaw has the longest (and most annoying) nail polish name I have ever seen. It’s a pretty midnight blue but I much prefer the richness in OPI…Eurso Eurso. ISUSWSU is a tad bit more smokier.

DSC_7038

A Woman’s Prague-ative is a shimmery copper. It’s brighter in real life and it’s just a stunning little addition to the collection.

The entire crew…

I don’t think it’s OPI’s most stellar collection but there are definitely some winners in here. I love the different finishes and I love that there isn’t a red in this collection. Yas! OPI loves their reds so it’s refreshing to see a collection that doesn’t have one.

What do you think? See any beauties in this collection?

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm – Because Most Guys Have Lips

It’s true! The male species have lips. At least most of ‘em. And if any of yours are like mine, they may be a bit “particular” about what they put on their lips. And not “particular” in a good way. And yeah, I know it’s not easy being married to a beauty editor. I’m always chasing after Esposo asking him to Smell this and Try that. And he’d rather eat burnt asparagus than acquiesce. Help with web design? Sure! Let me use his hand to swatch a lippy? NEVER! But when I told good ‘ol Esposo that Jack Black was a brand made for the fellas, he actually let me apply these popular balms on his lips. Score! I got these for review and now we are both kinda obsessed with them.

DSC_7492

You’ve spotted this brand at Sephora before, haven’t you? I’ve been eyeing them for years but I am just now trying out these lippies. These babies are popular! My fellow beauty bloggin’ sisters are always ravin’ about the awesomeness that is Jack Black.

The Basics

What The Lippies Don’t Have: Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances/Dyes and Phthalates
What the Lippies Do Have: Shea butter, avocado oil and SPF 25
Flavors: Vanilla & Lavender, Grapefruit & Ginger, Original, Lemon & Chamomile, Black tea & Blackberry

I’ve got good news…they are only lightly scented. Woo hoooooo! Nothing irritates me more than a lip balm that is insanely fragrant. If you’ve ever liked how Vaseline feels on the lips, then you’ll love how JB feels. It’s thick, hydrating and smooth. It feels fantastic when worn solo and worn with a lipstick on top.

DSC_7494

DSC_7495

And it’s nice to have a lip balm with SPF in it. I’m sold. And so is the guy. At $7.50, they may be a little bit more than the average lip balm, but they are definitely worth their price. Especially if you’re a fan of having SPF in your lip balms. You can get these from Sephora stores and at Sephora.com.

Ever try anything from Jack Black?
