Brown and Blushin': NYX Tango Bronzer Powder

Here in the great state of Florida (or Flo’duh if you’ve got that Southern draw..:p) it is still practically summer time. Sure the heat index has gone down a bit and the humidity isn’t at 100% anymore but we are still hitting 80’s and 90’s in Central Florida. So while bronzers are typically used during the summer time, I have found one that I’m going to be sporting during the Fall and Winter.

‘Nuff said, uh? That bad boy is gorgeous! Hit the jump to get the deets.

Brown & Blushin': Tarte matte waterproof bronzer

Time for another edition of Brown and Blushin’. This time we’re going to be showcasing a bronzer from Tarte. Tarte is one of my favorite green beauty brands. They are consistently giving us products free of mineral oil and petrolatum, parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes/fragrances.

Summer isn’t quite over yet in Florida (not that it ever really goes away) so I am absolutely loving the idea of waterproof bronzer.

That means it can hold up during work-outs and quick laps in the pool. Hollers!

Trust me when I say I am not one of those females that work-out with a full face of make-up. In fact, I am the opposite of attractive when I’m working out. And I could care-less. But 9 times out of 10, when I do get my fitness on, it is usually after work. I love how I can keep my glow throughout a sweaty work-out. And since it’s oil and talc free, I don’t have to worry about my acne prone skin flaring up on me. Which it loves to do every other day. Ugh.

And for my ladies who are skeptical and wondering it really IS waterproof…

Yes ma’am, it is! And it goes on silky smooth with just one swipe on the cheekies.

While the shade I have featured here is Park Avenue Princess, I think I’m going to retire my MAC Sweet As Cocoa for the Hotel Heiress shade.

I haven’t seen it in person yet but I am hoping they are dupes. What do y’all think? You can grab this bronzer for $29 at Sephora. I’ll be back to let you know how Hotel Heiress worked for me!

Ciao mamas!

ETA: I ended up buying Hotel Heiress. Absolutely love!

Brown & Blushin': Lancôme Ageless Minerale Blush

Time for another edition of Brown and Blushin’. This time we’re going to be showcasing a mineral blush from Lancôme.

Pretty, uh? I can’t quite put my finger on what this blush reminds me of. I feel like I’ve seen it in a dream before. It applies absolutely beautifully. A swatch…

This baby contains pure mineral pigments that it’s wear is incredible! I’m talkin’ all day! Application is a breeze too. I take a dual fiber brush and swirl swirl swirl…

And bam!

Pretty pink cheeks with a flawless finish. What else would you expect from a brand like Lancôme? You can snag this baby at any Lancôme counter or outline for $29. Which, I’ll admit, its a wee bit pricey but mineral blushes last for-eva!

Are you a fan of mineral blushes?

Brown & Blushin': Iman Cosmetics Sheer Finishing Bronzer

Boy boy boy…lemme tell y’all about bronzers. Wait, back in July ’08 I did on a post all about bronzers. Check it out if you’re one of those brown girls who are like, “Can Black girls event wear bronzers?” Talk about a gasp-worthy question.

For whatever reason, some of us STILL think that bronzers aren’t for us. Tisk tisk, teddy bears. Pull yourselves together and witness this bronze-y beaut…

Yep, it’s that bronzer that came in my swag back from the Iman Cosmetics event I went to. How stunning is that?

Here’s the thing about Iman Cosmetics’ products…they don’t their products feel like drugstore buys. Really! Although you can snag this for $13.99, when you hold on the palette in your hand, it feels like something you would have gotten at a department store. That’s a beautiful thang.

Don’t fear bronzers, ladies. It is amaziiiing what just a little bit can do to enhance those gorgeous cheekbones of yours. Check me out here…

Please disregard my, “Why you lookin’ at me like that?” look. I was probably heading to work. HA!  On days when I really want to rock a minimalist look, this bronzer is giving me life. Just a little concealer and a swipe of bronzer on the cheekbones and I’m ready to do.

There’s even a little brush at the bottom of the compartment for touch-ups.

Genius. If you’re looking for a bronzer in your life for Spring and Summer, go with this one. Or this one…

That baby is on my wishlist and I can’t get to have it in my possession. Bwahahaaa! Evil laughs make everything better. :)

Brown & Blushin': The brown girl’s must have

Please excuse me for just NOW reviewing a product that has been a staple in my stash for like….two years now. I mean, it’s very rare that you catch me NOT wearing it. It is the blush love of my life. It is…

MAC’s Sweet As Cocoa

I don’t know who introduced me this majestic powder but I am eternally grateful to them. Check out how I apply and wear it.

I wear Sweet As Cocoa just about every day. It goes right on top of my concealer and gives me that minimal coverage that I feel like I need. Even though I don’t wear foundation, I still like to even out my skintone just a wee bit. Sweet As Cocoa works beautifully because it a notch or two darker than my skint one but gives the bronzer-effect.

See…

I usually apply it with a kabuki-like brush from the tail of my brow to my cheeks.

Cheek without Sweet As Cocoa

Cheek WITH Sweet As Cocoa

See the difference! If I’m feeling like a little more color, I’ll dab another blush with more color on the apples of the cheeks. I think Sweet As Cocoa is the perfect introductory blush for the woman of color who STILL thinks she can’t wear blush. But it’s quite simple, brown girls…you NEED MAC’s Sweet As Cocoa.

Run run…get it now. Thank me later. :)

Anyone have Sweet As Cocoa? Tell me you love it as much as I do…
