FOTD Friday: The Return of the purple lips

Happy Friday, family! So thanks to the introduction of Inglot Cosmetics in my life, I have gotten back into purple lips.
Back in February I played around with lavender lips and that bug has bit me again.
Purple lips, what can I say? You either love it or hate it. If you told me that I would be rockin’ purple lips a year ago, I probably would not have believed you. But now I AM in love with the look. Purple lips are unexpected and fun. Here’s the look I came up with!

FACE:
Not at thing. It is still acting crazy and I’ll be going to my first dermatologist appointment this upcoming Monday.

EYES:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Tarte Femme Fatale Natural eye palette. This palette rocks!

Tarte long wear eyeliner
Lancome Oscillation Powerbooster
Maybelline Lash Stiletto
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Zero

LIPS:
MAC lipliner in Nightmoth
Inglot Lipstick in 65

Inglot Lipgloss in 542

The lipstick alone is pretty scary.
A little too cool for my skintone and just…..not flattering. But of course I pulled out that that good ole’ MAC lip liner in Nightmoth. I only have two lipliners from MAC and this baby is a staple for darkening up colors. And it never fails me.

Ahhh, a lot better, uh? Of course I had to throw on a purple scarf to be all dramatic.
Do you like purple lips?
Not feelin’ it?
What’s everyone doin’ this weekend? I am actually going to try and relax. We’ll see how that goes. Have a good oooooone!
Stay prettyful,

FOTD Friday: Bloggin’ Beauts event edition

It’s another Friiiiiday! Dang, already? I’m never the one to complain about the end of a work week but my goodness…..sometimes they come a little TOO quickly if you ask moi.
Okay, soooo…I wanted to make the Bloggin’ Beauts the star of this FOTD Friday. Last weekend I partied with some of NYC’s finest.
And I don’t mean celebs, I mean bloggers! I have gained quite a bit in my 2 years of blogging at Clumps of Mascara. Aside from connecting with all of y’all, I also get the chance to hob nob with fellow beauty bloggers. It really does my heart joy. Follow my POTD (place of the day) back to NYC and at the Beauty Beauts event!
Yesss, I’m back. I am a small city girl by nature but I ALWAYS feel at home in the Big Apple.
I didn’t have any concrete plans so I pretty much roamed the city most of Friday and Saturday. I I found myself in a Chanel boutique and while the purses and shoes made me want to swoon, I ran to the cosmetics area where I knew my $20 could get me “something”.
But I didn’t haul anything. Chanel Cosmetics are gorgeous but a little too rich for my blood. I’m just sayin’….
I give my little sister my Blackberry for a quick second and before I know it she’s taking photos like a true beauty blogger.
If she started swatching, I would have died. LOL!
I did some more roaming around and managed to catch some AWESOME shots of the city. Especially this one.
Fellow beauty blogger and NYC BFF, Adina.
And these photos were all taken by my Blackberry, so……wow!
Managed to see another Broadway play.
WICKED is soooo a must see.
Saturday was the day of the party and you know it’s serious when you see cosmetics on plates. Oh yes, we take beauty seriously around here.

The purpose of Bloggin’ Beauts was to not only network with other beauty bloggers but to also play around with make-up and introduce new brands.
A presentation on Arbonne…..
We were even pampered by Zoya celebrity make-up artist, Jackie. She is doing the nails of Mrs. Thevi Cosmetics herself!
A few of the ladies chit-chatting….
The ladies at the meet-up!

A ton of love to Yana for doing all of the things I couldn’t do to make this party a success. And I can’t forget all of our sponsors including Zoya, Purple Lab NYC, Orly, Solerra, Arbonne, 3 Custom Color, Tarte, Fingrs, My Pretty Pink Box, Thevi, Cerave, Korres, etc.

With transferring all of my photos from my PC to my new MacBook Pro (woo!) my pictures are currently inaccessible–hence why all of these photos came from my Blackberry. To view other lovely photos from our event, click HERE to visit the NYC Bloggin’ Beauts website.

Anyone thinking about coming to my neck of the woods for The Makeup Show Miami? I’ll show y’all how us Floridians party. LOL!

Have an awesome weekend,

FOTD Friday: The Graduate look

This FOTD Friday is a response to a reader’s email. Check it out!

Dear B,
Hi! so i really love ur blog and love that you do realize that not everyone is good with makeup just yet. i’m one of those people. i am graduating from college in december and i’m excited! i know it’s early but i am thinking about makeup looks that i want to do for the ceremony and reception afterwards. i’ve been playing around with MAC pigments and would like to use some. what kind of look do you suggest? thanks!

Soon 2 B graduate in North Carolina.

Ahhh, this brings back memories. I graduated from college around this time 2 years ago. See!

That was a chubbier B but you couldn’t tell me I wasn’t cute! I remember trying to decide what look I was going to wear. I settled on MAC’s Woodwinked on the lid and MAC’s Sketch in my crease. Can’t believe I remember that.

Oh the memories…

But back to you, Dear reader. I only own 3 full size pigments. Melon, Coco Beach and Vanilla.

And I’ve had these for the longest! I never take the time to use pigments but I do think that these three used together can make for a pretty nice and subtle graduation look. Melon gives you some added shimmer but it isn’t too overwhelming but it will make you shine like the student star that you are!

FACE:
MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW45

EYES:
-Too Faced Shadow Insurance
-L’Oreal HIP cream shadow paint in Witty
-MAC Melon pigment (lid)
-MAC Coco Beach pigment (crease)
-MAC Vanilla pigment (highlight)\
-Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Zero
-MAC Blacktrack fluidline

LIPS:
-MAC Nightmoth lip liner
-MAC Hot ‘N Saucy tendertone

That lip combo has popped up in a great deal of my FOTDS because ohhh weee, I love it. Balms are great because they keep your lips moisturized without having to re-apply. Graduations can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours and with all of the excitement going on, you really don’t have the time to keep re-applying glosses.

So here’s how it came out:

Not too shabby! So if pigments for your graduation look is where you really want to go, I suggest those three. Congrats again, lady!!

Anyone recommend any slammin’ graduation looks?

Do you remember what you wore for your high school or college graduation?

And happy weekend to all!

*hugs*

Stay beautiful,

FOTD Friday: An E.L.F. Look

Hi darlings!!

This FOTD is a mild one. I really just wanted to showcase some products from E.L.F that will be up for review in the coming weeks. I dedicate this post to Reader Elizabeth because she is the one that finally got me to take the E.L.F. plunge.

Well, her and the Buy 5, get 5 free sale. I spent a good $12 (that includes shipping) on my entire order and I got over 10 products. Uh…wow?!

FACE:
E.L.F. Pink Lemonade All Over Stick Color

EYES:
E.L.F. Daytime Eyeshadow palette
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
L’Oreal HIP Cream shadow paint in Witty
Urban Decay 24/7 liner Zero

Inside….

And out…

Look at the HK charm my Mommy made for me!

Meh…I’m still playing around with everything but right now I’m not 100 % sold on anything. Except the All Over Color Stick. That’s pretty groovy. As is Royal Purple nail polish!

What a stunning purple! And for only $1!

I will do a complete review on all of the other products I snagged from E.L.F.–including brushes.

Anyone a fan of E.L.F.?

I hope that you all have a fantabulous 4th of July!!!

Rock on,

FOTD Friday:The Bahamian Edition

Happy Friday!!

[Really quickly---I just wanted to send out my thoughts and prayers to the Jackson family. Michael Jackson's music was a staple in my household. He is a legend. And the beautiful thing about legends is that they live on forever. I believe in remembering the past and celebrating the present (Sankofa). He will join Luther Vandross, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Marian Anderson and others. This PYT will always love you, MJ!]

It just occurred to me that I never posted photos of my trip to the Bahamas. And since my skin is currently enduring burns in 3 places (brown skin DOES get sunburned….I’ll spare you the photos) I didn’t that that doing a FOTD would not be a good idea.

So let’s do a POTD–Place of the Day.

Welcome to Nassau, Bahamas.

I’ve been here once before but really got to explore the city THIS trip.

The first two days were nothing but this…..

I know. Uneventful, right? It rained. And rained. And rained. And rained. Somehow, it didn’t bother me. Being able to sleep beyond 6 a.m. was vacation enough for me! And then around the 2nd day we were there….the sun came out!

Hey there Carnival!

View from my hotel room.

Outside of Atlantis…

….and then inside. The designs are breathtaking.

Fishes!

The sisters posing…

Every single time I travel, I ALWAYS have a hard time taking pictures of everything. I am too busy “taking in” the sites to even think about snapping shots. *sigh* More of a reason to return!

Off to the streets!

Thank you, Courtney for being natural in this photo..

Here goes my Dad…

“Hey Brit, look….there’s a MAC.”

Funny.

But I didn’t buy anything. Wait….now that I think about it, I didn’t get any souvenirs from the Bahamas. Mannnn….

Senor Frogs!

This photo is currently the background on my laptop. Loves it! And I loved the conch fritters there. I will say the BEST conch fritters eeeever are at The Conch Shake in Provos, Turks. Amazing!

Look! It’s ClumpsTV. Or Clumpsivision. LOL! Yes, I spent $14 to check good ole’ Clumps and to tweet. It was hard being Blackberry-less for almost a week.

More random shots!

What to wear on Paradise Island? A color liner, mascara and a glittery Dazzleglass. That’s all! LOL @ what I was listening to.

Sister shots….

opps, forgot to “smile with my eyes”. Next time, next time.

These chicks are clearly loving their desserts. LOL!

Of course the nails STILL got polished everyday. I’m rockin‘ Diamond Cosmetics’ Hot Summer Pink!

….and then back to Miami. We stayed at the beautiful Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach. A terrible storm hit and what happens? Lights go off in the hotel. And they don’t come back on. For hours. And hours. We ended up being forced to leave.

The horror.

The commotion….

But what’s any family vacay without some random “something” happening?

Oh! I also swam with dolphins which was an amazing experience that everyone must do once in their life.

Another great trip!

Next?

Back to NYC and definitely Vegas.

Doing any summer traveling? Take me with you!

Have a wonderful weekend!

FOTD Friday: The Body Shop palette

Happy Fridays, darlings! Another week has blown by. Yes, already. This week’s face of the day is brought to you by this lovely little palette from The Body Shop.

I know, it has everything in it, right? What you are looking at is the Eye, Lip & Cheeck palette. I took this baby along with me when I was in Miami for Mother’s Day and it truly came through for me! Mind you I left ALL of my toiletries at home. This palette in all of its fantastic wonderful-ness happened to be in my purse and it saved my weekend…beauty-wise, at least.

It comes with….

-Super Volume Mascara
-Liquid Lip Color Pale Pink Sparkle and Golden Coral
-Cheek Color 04 Golden Pink
-Eye Shimmer 01 Silverý
-Eye Color 26 Shell Pink
-Eye color 38 Spearmint
-Eye color 20 Slate
-Mini Blusher Brush and Mini Eyeshadow Brush

I was crazy impressed! The glosses, not as pigmented as I like, are smooth and non-tacky, the shadows are bright and wearable and the mascara….ain’t so bad!

Check out the look I created. Look how versatile the colors are!

Dang, Mister Sun!! You are messin’ up my photoshoot!

So I had to take it the car….is it just me or do car shots have the best lighting?

In the shade..

Tons of sun…

Ah yes….my green smoothie. I love that stuff. Did I tell ya’ll I was taking baby steps in the raw foodie/vegan world? Been doing it for a few weeks now. My diet is about 70% green! I’m not doing this forever…just trying to spice up my diet a bit by learning new recipes. I even tweeted my vegan chocolate chip cookies here. I’ll share more with the Clumps fan. Ya’ll know I’m a health food nut so it’s about time we incorporate beauty with it. Wait—wasn’t I supposed to be starting a health/fitness series? Uh….

….back to the topic at hand, lol! This palette rocks. It is absolutely perfect for traveling. You can snag it here for only $30.

Would you? Could you rock this palette? I am lovin’ it.

Happy weekeeeeend!! Love ya’ll!

Stay beautiful,

FOTD Friday: The just some liner look

Hi family!

It’s Friday—ohmigoodness, I totally love short weeks. Actually, no I don’t. They go slower than regular weeks. Don’t ask to try and explain that either. I know someone out there knows what I’m talking about. HA!

Before I drop the one-photo look for today, I wanted to update you on what’s going on via Clumps:

  • I will be traveling for all of next week. Don’t fret! Posts will still air as usual however I will not be able to respond to comments immediately. This year’s family vacay is back to the Bahamas. You know I will take tons of photos!
  • The Makeup Show highlights will take a brief intermission next week but will resume shortly after.
  • I will be attending the Premiere Orlando International Beauty Event on June 7th. If there is anything you would like for me to check out, shoot me an email and let me know!
  • Clumps will celebrate its two year anniversary on Friday, June 12th. It will be quite the celebration ‘roun these parts! That means giveaways, giveaways and more giveaways! Maybe some contests and other surprises. Stay tuned. Anyone want to be on the party planning committee?
  • My fellow blog sister and friend Kia at Yummy411 celebrates a birthday on Sunday, June 7th so shoot her some Happy B-Day love!
  • The lovely Tamar will be babysitting Clumps while I am away so feel free to email any housekeeping questions to her at TamarForClumps@gmail.com.

I think that’s it for now, jello pops. Will ya’ll miss me? *tears* Because I shall miss you!

And now for my look:

….and that’s it! I’m serious. I’m supporting some liner, gloss and of course, mascara! I was getting a makeover at D&G Cosmetics in New York City and this was the BEFORE. Nothing special here, uh?

Off I go! Have a wonderful week, lovelies!

FOTD Friday: Make Up For Ever pinks!

Is it really Friday already?

Dang….

Seems like only yesterday when I was taking the 115 bus from Jersey to catch the Number 2 train from 42nd street to jump on the C. Yes, I STILL have New York City on the brain. I should have it together by next week. Hopefully.

I did this look for my last day in the city. I purchased some shadow colors from the all mighty Make Up For Ever. I really hate that I love this brand so much. Seriously!! Each shadow is $19 each and that is so outside of my budget. At The Makeup Show, however…..40% off! That means each shadow was a little over $7.00.

Pumpkin ice cream chair cords!!
(my excitement=a slew of random words)

Girl yes….I was thrilled! Make Up For Ever shadows are HIGHLY pigmented and blend like a dream. My only wish is that MUFE starts giving their products names instead of numbers. Since I forgot to put the shadow name in my MUFE palette, I have nooo idea what is what. So I am totally guessing on the colors here.

[NOTE]: My skin is going through some thangs in these photos. Of course—another break-out. What else is new! And I’m not sure why I look so ashy either. But ya’ll know I don’t care. Photoshop-free is the way to be!

LIPS:

Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Reflect in Linen Beige

Sweet…..

Sour!

….so random, I know. I haven’t taken mirror photos since those MySpace-obsession days!

Anyone else rockin‘ Make Up For Ever shadows? OMG, for the total MUFE queen, check out my gal Adina at Krasey Beauty. My girl is like….the biggest MUFE fan ever!

Have a wonderful amazingly beautiful exciting weekend!
