A First Look at black|Up Cosmetics

Haven’t heard of this line, have you? Born in France, black|Up Cosmetics is the FIRST makeup artist brand created for women of color–especially for those with darker complexions. Wow is right! Their Facebook page is full of comments from happy customers and makeup artists. It’s a luxury and higher-end brand. Although I’m a drugstore diva, it’s cool to see a brown girl friendly version of Chanel, Dior and Dolce & Gabanna Cosmetics. I’m just itching to try as many of the products as I can.

First up—a mattifier and powder.

I got Shellac’d!

CND’s Shellac treatment has caused such a fanfare in the nail polish industry. This innovative gel formula makes it so that a manicure on natural nails can last for at least 14 days. That’s unheard of, uh? It took me awhile to jump on the bandwagon for several reasons.

I didn’t like the idea of wearing the same nail polish for many, many days. I mean…hello, I’m a beauty blogger. My nails need to be free for a swatchin’. Secondly, I was afraid of potential damage the nails might receive after removal. Aaaand, I’ve become quite the nail care snob in that I’d much rather do my own nails than have someone else do them. But because I got so many inquiries about Shellac, I decided to formally review them on Clumps.

Take a sneak peek…

Food Yum: I know it’s bad for me, but…[POLL]

I pride myself of being pretty health-conscious. I read food labels, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, work-out when I can and tryyy to make healthy decisions. But I can’t deny that I will always love candy. And I’m not talkin’ chocolate. I’m talkin’…Skittles. Yes, Skittles!

I love these colorful sugar bits. They’re nothing but pure sugar but they give me that kick I crave every now and then. Aren’t they cuuuute?

I try not to eat ‘em too often but I doubt I’ll ever give ‘em up. What’s your favorite “I know it’s not good for me but I love it anyway” food?

5 Tips on Applying Mascara

the Perfect Way

Mascara is probably considered as a staple in makeup for many. However, only few of us know exactly how to apply mascara. Here are some tips I would like to share:

1. Flexi Wand

Bending the wand (not too much!) a little bit is the first thing to do. You can bend it at any angle that you feel comfortable with when applying.

Question of the Week:

If YOU could only wear one lip product for the rest
of all time (gasp!), what would it be?:

B says, “That’s a tough one but I’d go with a Korres Lip Butter. They feel absolutely divine and give a subtle pop.”

See you next week!

Everyone needs a mentor. And here’s why…

One of my missions in my life is to inspire as many women as I can. Be it through helping you choose a red lipstick that compliments your beautiful skin or sending you words that motivate you, I know that I was placed on this Earth to inspire. It comes so easily to me.

But what happens when those that inspire need some inspiration? I don’t express it openly here on Clumps but I’ve had a quite a few down moments. We all do, right? Everything can’t be all sprinkles and gumdrops all the time. I know that. And even after I’ve prayed and talked to my friends and family members, sometimes I would still feel…empty.

And little do they know it, but that’s when the words from these women changed my life.

Food Yum: Lee Roy Selmon’s

Although this restaurant is only native to a few cities in West Central Florida, I still felt the need to review it because it is one of my favorites. I first discovered Lee Roy Selmon’s when I was a student at the University of South Florida in Tampa. I recently took a trip back to my old college town and had to hit up one of my favorite BBQ/southern fixings joints.
