So I’ll back up. What IS GlobeIn? We’ve seen a few dozen subscription boxes of various topics. What makes this one better? The fact that GlobeIn works with people around the world to allow them to get their handmade items in the hands of people like you and me is what makes them better. Just about every single item in a GlobeIn box will be handmade with a little story about the person or persons that you’re helping support.
It’s a beautiful sentiment but more importantly, I like the idea of being able to educate myself on various people and place across the globe and get a hand in helping support their communities. Also, you’ve got to love how each Box has a topic. September 2015’s was Wellness and considering I’m about to have a baby, well this box was totally needed!
Each Artisan box comes in GlobeIn’s signature handwoven basket. Elle and I love these and have found such great use of them in our home. She likes to put her forks, knives and spoons in the basket to place it on her kitchen shelf.
This Blessing Bag comes from Ghana and is made from discarded plastic water sachets. It’s beautiful and currently acts as my new cosmetic bag.
The Eye Pillow from Peru was crafted by the Shipibo and is loaded with the relaxing scent of Lavender. I’ve already got this baby on my Home Birth Essentials list.
The Baobab Powder from Benin is something that I’ve never heard of but will likely toss into a fruit smoothie.
Also, each month GlobeIn donates 50% of profits from a Box to a charitable organization or cause. September’s proceeds went to Watsi, an organization that connects medical patients who can’t afford medical procedures with donors via the World Wide Web. Beautiful, right?
A bit of a splurge at $35/box, GlobeIn is probably not ideal for my guys and girls on a budget. It’s an investment, yes, but if you are already a fan of subscription boxes and want something different that helps foster indepedence and community, I’m thinking you’ll love GloveIn. I am a huge fan of the mission and I love being able to get stories and histories behind the women that are impacted greatly from GlobeIn.
Want to give it a whirl? If you use the coupon code COM, you will save 25% off their first month’s box with a purchase of 3- and 6-month subscriptions. You’re also able to purchase single items from the site!

What about you?
See you next week!]]>
Okay look – I’m not always positively radiant. I try to be. I geniuely make an effort to embody that I woke up like dis spirit, but giiiiirl…some days it’s just so gosh darn rough. And it’s reasons like this why I can appreciate products like Aveeno® Positively Radiant® Daily Moisturizer.
All moisturizers are not treated equally. Some are really just watery lotion with very little moisturizing properties and efficacy. Some of those brands try to trick us. It’s not right, I say! While this Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 won’t transform your 60-year old skin into 23-year old skin (sorry love, and wouldn’t that be strange anyway?), what it will do is provide your skin with oil-free love and sun protection. This, you know, is important. Even more so for guys and gals like me who live in areas where the sun doesn’t stop shinning. Ever.
I’ve been using this moisturizer daily for a few weeks and it promises to even skin tone and texture to reveal naturally radiant skin. So, no…I didn’t wake up looking like Beyonce, but yes, I’m pretty satisfied with how well it performs during these hot-almost-getting-cooler days. The product also promises to improve the following.
– Brown Spots
I will definitely be able to see how accurate this is in the coming months but I will say that I love how glorious this feels on my skin. It’s far from greasy but it’s moisturizing and decadent, smooth and sinks right into my highly hormonal and combination skin. I think it’ll be perfect for the cooler months but I will say it’s pretty nice for what appears to still be sticky and humid days here in Florida. Plus, you’ve got to love the extra dose of sunscreen that is provided in the moisturizer. We are BIG on sunscreen here and I love when it is already included in a daily moisturizer.
So wow, Aveeno®. You have given me a true reason to be positively radiant in the morning. I can’t exactly attribute that to my surly toddler who wakes up crying for reasons I’ll never understand. But before she wakes, I make it my business to have a little spa moment in the bathroom with just me, my morning mug and this moisturizer.
Now THAT is how you start a morning…all radiant and glow-like.
Yes, that’s right. I feel like my backyard. *snickers*
Fabulous offerings, right? I’m so glad that my Clarisonic family was able to provide a device because we all know how much I looooove the Clarisonic. One lucky Clumps winner will be able to score their very own to end 2015 with even more fabulous skin. Entering this giveaway is intended to be VERY easy and can be done through Rafflecopter. B says, “Uh…I’m not really sure because I’m not hip and haven’t stayed up on Fall collections. Preggo brain runs my life!”
What about you?
See you next week!]]>
Okay, two things: A) that image may have been posted before and B) it’s a pretty old picture of the bump. I do take quite a few preggo selfies, but girl…you don’t want to see those. Mainly because they’re usually taken in Esposo’s boxers and not always with a bra on. It’s the ultimate version of TMI and I wouldn’t want to put your eyes through that.
See how much I love you?
Blog posts will slowlyyyy be coming to a crawl as I prepare for this second babe of mine. I SHOULD be nesting but the freelancer bee that is me is working like mad to stack cash. Self-employed mamas like me don’t have paid maternity leave. Thankfully, my clients are SO wonderfully understanding and flexible so while I do feel a bit overwhelmed, at least I like what I do. And you know, not working is NOT an option. I like to work. And I like to make money, so there’s that…
I had Elle at 37 weeks and if this boy follows that trend (and I hope not because whooooa! That was scary) he’ll be here within a month. Am I ready? NOPE! Despite being Mrs. Type A Capricorn who loves organizing and planning, I kinda suck in the “You’re about to have a baby” department. Lil’ dude has a car seat, a good amount of clothes, blankets and essentials but have I washed said clothes? Prepped cloth diapers? Does kid have a swing, bouncer or solo place to sleep? Uh…no. Ha!
I know we’ll get it all together. I’m also trying to do a last minute family trip to Disney World so that we can celebrate Elle’s last few days of being the only child. Truthfully? I’m going to miss her being the only child. I can’t WAIT for our newest addition, but there’s something special about only parenting one. It’s far from easy but it is vastly easier than parenting more than one. With Elle, we’ve been able to do so many things. Going to the grocery store with TWO kids (much less flying with ’em) intimidates me like you wouldn’t believe. Our saving grace? A ferociously vocal and independent little girl, who at almost 3-years old, is so incredibly helpful. From slathering coconut oil on my belly to helping with chores, I couldn’t be happier with our babes’ age spacing.
But I’m still nervous. Especially since I plan to work while keeping this baby at home. Elle went to daycare at 3 months old but I’d like to continue working from home (with the occasional meetings/travels) without having to put this babe in daycare for at least a year. Working mom life is a GREAT one and it sounds crazy but spending 24/7 with a baby while also working seems a little nutty but hey, I’ve been through tougher thangs.
Next up? Maternity pictures, prepping for the homebirth, tying loose ends, purging and setting our home for our son. I can’t wait to meet him.]]>
Hair. It’s a big thing, right? I mean, I don’t care if you’re a little girl or living it up in your octogenarian years, chances are you have some issues with your hair. I’m with you, sister. My hair and I have such a love-hate relationship that many days, I’m shocked to see that my hair hasn’t run away from me. It sounds dramatic, I know, but I’m not always that sweet and attentive to my curls. I’ve gotten better but man, I used to color, perm and toss heat on my hair and then get livid when it wouldn’t grow. Isn’t that some craziness? Why do we do that? We put our strands through the ringer and then get furious when they aren’t “cooperating” with us.
My hair has gone through some serious journeys. I can always tell where I was in my life by how my hair looked. Some gals can rock the same hairstyle for months and years, but nope…that’s never been me. I switch it up regularly and have been doing so since I was 18-years old. Like this pic?
I took that while lounging in my dorm room. I had relaxed hair, was about 19-years old and was in a place where I was really complacent about my hair. It was until I chopped it off months later that I really began to love what grew naturally from my scalp.
Since then, I’ve tackled just about every hairstyle in the natural hair world. From afros, afro puffs to twists, braids, extensions, locs and a rainbow of colors, my hair has been an expression of self while loving life in my 20’s and 30’s. I’ve even shaved my hair completely off. Not once, but twice. The beauty in all of this is, is that my hair continues to be my crown and I find that it represents me in such a dynamic way. No one has hair like me. Well, yeah…there are plenty of ladies rocking afros. But no one’s afro looks like mine. It’s a beautiful thang. I’m betting you can say the same thing about your hair too, right?
Because I’m passionate about my hair, I’m pretty picky about what I put in it. SheaMoisture has been a go-to brand for yearsssss now. I’m not kidding. Check my Instagram feed where you’ll find pictures of me buying SheaMoisture products that I probably don’t need but will hoard anyway for…you know, reasons.
SheaMoisture’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil line has been a HUGE hit in the beauty world and I’m seeing what the hype is all about. I’ve been a lover of Jamaican Black Castor Oil due to its nourishing and moisturizing properties so to see this oil in SheaMoisture products, well…it’s a serious match made in healthy hair heaven. I’ve been using the Replenishing Shampoo, Strengthen Grow & Restore Conditioner and the Intensive Strengthening Masque.
They all work beautifully when used together, but that Masque is perfect. I slathered it all over, put it on my hair for a good 2 hours and after rinsing, I was left with some seriously manageable and moisturized curls. But of course. This is the kind of performance I expect and always receive from SheaMoisture products.
I love when hair products make me fall in love with my hair even more. Do you have any hair products that do that for you? I’d love to know about your hair journey and if your hair’s current state representative of where you are in life.

First – do know this, Yes to Carrots also has a ton of other “Yes” products whose ingredients help to target various concerns.
Yes to Carrots – normal to dry skin/moisturizing
Yes to Cucumbers – sensitive skin, hypoallergenic formulas
Yes to Tomatoes – acne prone skin
Yes to Blueberries – aging skin
Yes to Grapefruits – dull skin in need of brightening and evenness
Yes to Coconuts – dry and damaged skin
The options? Endless! They’ve got something for everyone. If I had to pick one line to use, I’d probably aim for Yes to Carrots and Yes to Tomatoes but truthfully, they’ve got so many products that I’ve had great results from the lines that don’t necessarily cater to my specific needs. So let’s rap on these…
Yes to Grapefruit Pore Perfection Paper Mask ($15.99, buy here)
I looooove a good paper mask. They’re like a little moment of serenity wrapped up in moisturizing paper goodness. I’m not looking to refine pores so the properties of this mask wasn’t what prompted me to do use this.
Really, I’m all about the relaxation aspect. Did using this feel good? Yep. When I removed it, did my skin feel good? Yep. WIN!
Yes to Blueberries Foaming Facial Cleanser ($9.99, buy here)
Foaming facial cleansers can be tricky because I find that many of them can be drying. This one, however, ISN’T. This is my ideal travel cleanser because a little goes a long way and after rinsing off, it keeps the skin nicely moisturized without that streaky clean feeling.
The Yes to Blueberries line is targeted to aging skin but whatever, I’m all for using products whose ingredients can help tighten whatever wrinkles I will have.
Yes to Cucumbers Cooling Hydrating Mist ($10.99, buy here)
It’s hot up in these parts, y’all. I always thought facial mists were so gimmicky but when you find one that has refreshing properties like aloe vera juice, you may change your mind. This is one niiiiice. I’ve been tossing it in my purse and spritzing while watching Elle at the park.
Shoot, even hopping in and out of the car leaves me flustered and scorched and this mist refreshes me and prevents my skin from being SO sweaty. I mean, I’m still going to sweat but that mist is like a quick puff of coolness.
Yes to Tomatoes Detoxfying Charcoal Cleanser ($9.99, buy here)
If there is one item that I’d recommend the most, it would be this one. Whooooa. Even if you don’t have acne-prone skin, if you’re looking for a cleanser that REALLY cleanses, this is it. Mildly scented, this cleanser has jojoba spheres in which helps gently exfoliate the skin. I’ve gotten such a nice deep down cleansing and I can see myself repurchasing it because it is so flipping effective. Go tomatoes!
Yes to Grapefruit Pore Perfection Night Treatment ($15.99, buy here)
So again, I’m not interested in anything that has to do with perfecting my pores (I actually think they’re okay) but this is one fabulous night cream. It isn’t as heavy as most night creams but I still find that it’s moisturizing enough to really sink into my skin before bed. Plus, the packaging is kinda wonky/cool.
Need more reasons to jump on the Say Yes bandwagon?
Yuuuup. I’m officially a fan of Say Yes to Everything! Have you tried any of their products? What’s your favorite?
*FTC Disclosure: These products were provided to me for review. All opinions are my own.]]>
Let’s rap about hair color, babes. Do you do it? You know I do! I am forever dyeing my hair and likely won’t stop any time soon. I’ve taken a break while pregnant but as soon as baby boy makes his appearance, I’ll be running to get some highlights or who knows – maybe I’ll go purple or magenta! Until I can get my fix, I’ll be using Roux Fanci-Full Temporary Hair Color Rinse.
Have you heard of this brand? Sold in Sally Beauty Salons nationwide and on SallyBeauty.com, Roux gives you the option to temporarily change or modify your hair color. And easily! The temporary Haircolor Rinse is perfect for pregnant chicks like me who may not want to do an all over color. Because the Rinse doesn’t have any ammonia or peroxide in it, I felt completely safe using it. I selected the color Chocolate Kiss and while it was darker than I preferred, it was nice to get a hint of darkness in these summery days.
Intended to be used between color treatments, I think a Rinse like this is ideal for my gals who want to stretch their color out a bit longer without over-processing. Plus, you don’t have to bother with any rinsing out and applying it to the hair couldn’t be easier.
I LOVE the idea of Color Styling Mousse but unfortunately, these type of products just don’t work well with my hair texture. Those of us with tight curls generally need products with more moisture and a mousse, often times, gives us crunchy curls. Eek! My curls with straighter and wavier hair may appreciate this Color Styling Mousse more. Still, my hair LOVES the rinse!
Each Roux product retails for less than $11, so not only are you stretching out that color, but you’re not spending much money in maintaining it. Woohoo! And if you’re like me and still want to save a few pennies, follow Roux on Facebook. They post coupons regularly! And how lucky are you feeling?
Roux has this faaabulous contest. Many will win and a grand prize winner will get that gorgeous purchase! Even if you don’t enter the contest (which you totally should, I mean look at that purse!), Roux has a coupon code that you can use. Entering couldn’t be easier.
Pretty easy stuff? Best of luck, babes!
Toss a picky toddler in the mix and most days I’m tempted to whip up a protein green smoothie for both Elle and myself. I’m getting it together and between Pinterest and this list of apple recipes, I’m thinking we may survive!
I have a list of gathered recipes that feature…apples! From savory to deliciously sweet, there really is something for all palates. My goal is to recreate at least 3-4 of these in the next few weeks. Awhile back I whipped up homemade apple sauce (gracias ole’ Crockpot!) and it was such a huge hit in this house. The recipes that I’ve got my eyes on are in bold.
