We’ve seen Zoya’s Paradise Sun collection but now let’s take a look at their Island Fun collection. Full of luscious creams, I couldn’t wait to dive into these babies because at first glance, they really do remind me of summer.
I have a love/hate relationship with my skin. Which I know sounds awful, but hear me out for a minute. Good skin isn’t just a physical thing, it can also be very emotional. When my skin looks good, I feel good. I’m more confident. I tend to smile more and I love using makeup to highlight areas on my skin. But when I’m going through a breakout, I can’t say I’m as confident. I’ve been known to avoid social events simply because I had one too many pimples. It sounds shallow but I know many ladies can relate. Healthy skincare matters. A lot! Lately, I’ve been keeping it simple. You know, nothing too advanced or extraordinary. For a beauty blogger, my routine is actually pretty boring…
This is a sponsored post brought to you by St. Ives and M Booth. By the time you read this, I’ll be prepping for a trip to Puerto Rico. Yes, girl. For an actual vacation. I don’t even plan to take my laptop with me which you know says A LOT. It’s time. It is loooong overdo and while us Floridians have been baking in warmer weather for months now, Esposo will literally have to drag me off of the beach when it’s time to check out.
I’ve been packing for said trip since last week and included in my luggage are these St. Ives Fresh Hydration Spray Lotions. I’ve bragged about these before on Instagram and uh yeah…I’m still bragging. Nothing says “I need some moisturizaion but don’t have time to slather myself” like a spray lotion. And especially one from St. Ives. Formulated to replenish moisture into skin, St. Ives has given us a Spray lotion with lovely subtle notes and natural moisturizers. It’s lightweight enough to wear during the day but you’ll be surprised at how well it keeps the ash and dry skin at bay.
So I actually looked at the calendar and Summer doesn’t officially start until June 21st. How this is even possible when I’ve been living with 95 degree temps is beyond me. So yah. Summer has been in Florida for quite some time but for the rest of you folx, I am dedicated this summer beauty essentials post for you. In addition to prepping for a trip, I was also so looking to score some summer beauty items that I thought would be fitting with the change of seasons.
You know the drill, right? CVS graces me with a $50 gift card and I have to try my hardest to NOT go over that $50. Well, I did it! With a grand total of $45, I managed to get a slew of items while adding dollars to my Beauty Club membership. Here’s what I scored…
Yep, it’s another car review and I’m excited about this one because I had never even heard of this car. Once again, Drive Shop has been so wonderful in providing me with this Mazda 5 to test drive for a week.
I totally thought a sedan would be pulling up but no, the Mazda5 is really more of an extended sedan. And it’s more than family-friendly because this car can seat 6! You can’t really see this at first glance and honestly, I feel like the seats in the back are probably most comfortable for little ones, but still…no parent will ever scoff at additional seating! Especially when it comes in a vehicle that won’t have you making life decisions at the gas pump. The Mazda5’s gas mileage is similar to what my current sedan gets at 21 city MPG/28 highway MPG. I found that this car was perfect for so many different types of people and families.
Girl. I can’t tell you the last time I walked into a MAC Cosmetics store. I mean, shoot…I haven’t even been to the website in a little over a year. My obsession with the brand fizzled out when I discovered other brands. You know, because for a while I only had eyes for MAC.
But lemme tell you something…they’ve been doing some things to their website since I last visited and whooooa! Not only does it look good but it has inspired me to do some shopping. Maybe. I mean, we’ll see. A good little discount code is definitely making shopping a lot more appealing. Check this out.
If you use the code MACFAN1, you will get $10 off when you spend $50 or more.
I haven’t seen a promo like that from them um…ever. So hey, get in while the getting is good, babes. This expires on June 22, 2015 and I don’t believe those with PRO discounts are able to use that code.
Now riddle me this…what should I get? No, really. Some foundation, maybe? A pretty lippy? Tell me!
This is a sponsored post on behalf of Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital and Together Counts. Yours truly used to be a Girl Scout. From the time I was about 7 years old until I was 13, I experienced so much of my life through that organization. The memories are plentiful! The camping, the trips, the cookie selling… I REALLY loved being a Girl Scout. I’m excited to know that Girl Scouts in steadily doing fantastic things. In a recent partnership with the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, Girl Scouts has put together healthy habits booklets to help readers get a better idea of how they incorporate energy balance in all that they do.
These booklets are absolutely FREE and are intended to inspire and encourage Girl Scouts (and really anyone…) to lead healthy lifestyles. I find this to be perfect timing because while younger girls and teens may get in the habit of not doing much physical activity thanks to technology, these booklets will not only help them get moving in achievable ways but help them understand the importance of steady movement. When I was a Girl Scout we went on a loooot of camping trips and nothing exerts more energy in the Florida sun that camping. From the hiking to the putting up of tents and trekking back and forth to outhouses, camping was extremely physical. I’m so glad to see that Girl Scouts are still camping. I can’t wait to get Elle into her first Girl Scouts troop.
You don’t have to be a Girl Scout to appreciate the information that these booklets offer. In addition to these booklets, the Together Counts Program by the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation has developed a principle called Energy Balance. It helps girls understand how to balance the calories they consume and the calories they expend. It’s best to understand this type of stuff at a young age, right?

We are almost halfway through 2015. My mind is buggin’ because shoot, man…wasn’t it JUST January like, yesterday? That whole time is flying thing is such an understatement.
Last year, I had this epiphany when I was scrolling on Facebook on New Year’s Eve. So many folx were putting up updates about how badly the year went for them. Awful things happened. Things they wanted to happen but didn’t, deaths, layoffs, breakups…just all around depressing stuff. Many claimed that the entire year was horrible and they were anxiously awaiting the start of a new year. I fail to have that philosophy and while I’m not knocking those that do, I’d much rather have the Glass is Half Full mentality.
And trust me, this ain’t easy because as a Capricorn, I am natural pessimist.
