Dial Vitamin Boost Body Washes – Even The Men Love Them

Dial body wash

I got these bottles of body wash for review and they sat on my beauty shelf for a few weeks. Each week Esposo kept asking me if he could use them.

“Please babe,” he’d plead.

“I’ve gotta take pictures of them first,” I’d say.

Dial soap

A week would pass and he’d ask again. And then again. Ca-learly this man knows nothing about a blogger’s editorial calendar. Men, I tell ya. Esposo is far less pickier than I am when it comes to body products. All he needs is something that cleanses. He doesn’t care about parabens, fragrances (or lack thereof), pH balanced blah blah blah or anti-aging properties. He just wants something that suds up.

Yeah. And cleanses. Dial recently launched these 2 gorgeous bottles of sudsy body wash and the premise is this: they are supposed to provide nourishing moisturization from right after you begin lathering up until the end of the day. They have 2 formulas.

Dial Body Vitamin Boost

Amazing B is a lotion-infused formula that assists in drawing in moisture to keep that skin hydrated.

Dial Vitamin Boost

And then there’s Super C. An oil-infused formula that contains antioxidants to protect the skin and provide a healthy glow.

Both smell absolutely wonderful but I found Super C to be my favorite as it was energizing and citrusy and was such a perfect way to start the day. I asked Esposo which one he preferred and he didn’t care. Of course.

Way to go, Dial. You’ve managed to get my super man-ly man of a man excited about showering. I don’t know how to thank you. You can snag these from Walmart, Target and drugstores for about $4.99.

Mascara Monday: Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

Once upon a time a dear friend of mine told me about the brand Younique. I laughed because the brand name sounded like the name of a little girl I used to teach when I worked for AmeriCorps. I explained the chuckles and she proceeded to tell me about this revolutionary mascara, blah, blah, blah…yeah, I get this quite often.

ounique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

The “OMG, you should try this mascara!” thing comes with having a blog titled Clumps of Mascara but I told her that I had already had a ton of mascaras to review on my plate and that I’d check it out. I never did. Until Trish from MomDot presented me with a sample of Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes on our Royal Caribbean Brandcation trip. Within minutes, I had headed back to my room to apply the mascara and ZOMGGGG.

Yeah. Impressed isn’t even the word.

Younique mascara

Price: $29 from Younique.com
Packaging (brush wand): 5 out of 5
Overall: 4.5 out of 5

What It Claims: Our simple three-step process combines Transplanting Gel and Natural Fibers to help create the appearance of incredible thickness and volume to your existing lashes. Watch as your lashes transform into something you have only dreamed of! The 3D Fiber Lashes are water resistant but easily washes off with warm water and facial cleanser at the end of the day. ” (source)

The Truth: We’ve seen plenty of fiber mascaras but this is definitely one of the better ones.

What I Loved About It: The wands! They are slick, slim and perfect for applying a fiber mascara.

What I Didn’t Like: You can’t overdo it. If you over apply the gel of this mascara, you’re doomed. Very doomed.

Overall:  So obviously this isn’t my first time using a fiber mascara and Younique isn’t terribly innovative in this department. However, I do appreciate many aspects of their mascara. For one, like Too Faced’s Better Than False Lashes, the mascara comes in 2 tubes.

Younique Fiber Lashes

I love when this happens. Having both a base mascara and then a tube of just “fibers” leaves less room for error. Younique recommends that you apply a coat of your favorite mascara, a goat of their gel mascara and then the fibers and theeeen the gel again. Seems easy enough, right? Of course, this is the kind of mascara that you don’t need to be applyin’ right before a meeting or if you’ve got a toddler tugging at your leg. It will definitely take a good 3-5 minutes to apply everything.

The Moodstruck Transplanting Gel has a goopy and almost putty-like feel to it. It applies easily to the lashes and helps to bring them out a bit.

Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes gel wand

The key is applying the fibers on top of the gel while the gel is still wet. But obviously, right? The good news is, this is easy. The bad news is, you have to work at the speed of light. I’m not even kidding. I found that for the best results, it was imperative to apply the fibers within seconds of applying the gel.

Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes fiber wand

And like most fiber mascaras, removing this is easy. Simply wet your lashes and the fibers come right off. You will still need to use your regular makeup remover to get rid of the mascara that you used. But overall, I’m impressed with Younique’s version of a fiber mascara. Technique is everything when using one but it really helps when a brand provides a nice base (or in this case, gel) and workable fibers. As usual, you may suffer some fall-out while using this but you combat that by again, applying those fibers quickly and before the gel dries.

Do I recommend it?: Yes! It’s one of the better fiber mascaras that I tried.

Go Purple for Lupus Awareness Month

May is Lupus Awareness Month! Weeee! Don’t get it twisted. I’m not excited about lupus. I actually really hate lupus but I am happy that this disease is getting covered more and that education about it is being spread worldwide.

Some of my girls in the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida group and I decided to post a purple nail polish mani in honor of Lupus Awareness month.

Nails for Lupus Awareness

All Lacquered Up inspired this look but honestly…I’m not THAT in love with it. I mean, it’ll do but my nails look a bit clown-y and silly, don’t you think? Ah well. And it doesn’t help that the butter LONDON Matte Finish that I used on top smeared the whole look. Yours truly was too lazy to re-do it. Ha! I used Zoya Blu as my base and Dutch’ya Just Love OPI? as the purple in this look.

Nail polish for Lupus Awareness

But posting purple nails won’t do a darn thing for lupus so I thought I’d share some facts and resources that may be able to help you or someone you know who may be dealing with this disease. Every bit of information that I am grabbing is coming from Lupus.org.

  • Lupus Foundation of America research estimates that at least 1.5 million Americans have lupus.
  • It is believed that 5 million people throughout the world have a form of lupus.
  • Lupus strikes mostly women of childbearing age (15-44). However, men, children, and teenagers develop lupus, too.
  • Women of color are two to three times more likely to develop lupus than Caucasians.
  • People of all races and ethnic groups can develop lupus.

(source)

I know at least 4 gal pals (all are Black women under 40) that deal with lupus and they are such strong women in my eyes. One friend told me that some days are great and others are debilitating. It’s the roller coaster of pain that seems to frustrate her the most. But she’s still smiling and doing what she can to get the word out about this disease.

Please, oh please, oh pleaseeeee, scientists. Let’s find a cure for lupus sooner rather than later. Check out the looks that my fellow BBCFL girls did…

4 Reasons Why Too Faced’s La Creme Lipsticks Rock

So apparently I never featured these gorgeous Too Faced La Creme lipsticks. Lame. I mean, I’ve reviewed some of the shades before but these 4 are perfect in every way. I got press samples of them many moons ago so please forgive me for just now showin’ you their fierceness.

Too Faced La Creme

I won’t bore you with the details. Just know that these lipsticks are insanely moisturizing. Too Faced said that they’re “oozing with lip-conditioning hydrators” and that’s the perfect way to put it. I’m so used to having to wear a balm under lipsticks, but you’ll be happy to know that you can just rock these solo.

Too Faced La Creme lipsticks

Yes, girl. Yes.

Too Faced Bon Bon

Too Faced Bon Bon Lipstick

Bon Bon is a pink papaya that I really want to love on me but alas, corals like a bit off on me unless I pair them with darker lip liners.

Too Faced Taffy Lipstick

Too Faced Taffy

Taffy is a pink marshmallow nude and I wanted to hate this at first sight because it really is far too pink for me but Taffy combined with a dark brown lip liner is absolutely stunning. No lies!

Too Faced Lollipop Lipstick

Too Faced Lollipop

Lollipop is my favorite (obvs) because I’m a girl who loves her purple-y magenta shades. This violet has an orchid shimmer and it’s one of those lippies that anyone can rock and look fabulous. Love!

Too Faced Pink Chocolate Lipstick

Too Faced Pink Chocolate

Pink Chocolate is another one of those “meh” shades at first glance, but it does surprisingly well against my chocolate skin. I’m a fan of this berry brown.

Retailing for $22 each, these lippies are on the pricier side but worth it if you’ve got the extra pennies. Lollipop is a staple in my purse and Taffy is my go to for a nude lip.

Come on, Too Faced! Give me mooooAR shades!

Because Adults Should Write In Color…

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of BIC 4-Color pen for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

This sponsored post brought to you by BIC® 4-Color™. Y’know…those very awesome pen creators. Don’t even get me started on the awesomeness that are pens. Yes, I love my keyboards and keypads and touchscreens like everyone else but life started when I picked up a pen.
Which sounds all dramatic and deep, but it’s true! BIC is notorious for giving us 4 Inseparable Colors in 1 Pen. There really isn’t anything new about these. I’ve been usin’ these since ooooh, I don’t know. 7th grade, maybe? 4 color pens are the best because you aren’t havin’ to search for a different color pen every time you need to change up the shade.
Oh, you only write with one color ALL of the time? Oh. Wow. How awfully boring. Not I. Oh, not I. I gets down on the red, green black and blue. Switching the colors allows you to color code your thoughts and notes and it’s just plain fun! The silly kids at BIC® 4-Color™ have put together some hilarious videos.

Cheesy? Kinda. But funny? Yeah. And then there’s this one…

LOL, right? Silly stuff but somehow I think that deep down inside all of us, we are all 13-year olds who enjoy using pens of different colors. What you may not have known is that BIC® 4-Color™ has a pretty cool social media presence. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter for many chances to not only win some pens but to bust a gut as the 4 colors compete over who is the most liked color of all. After all, they’ve got personalities. Oh, you didn’t know? Yesssss. Blue thinks he’s popular feels himself just a little too much. Green doesn’t know where to fit in, red is a perfectionist and Black dreams of being cooler than he is. Of course, Red is my favorite. I loooove writing in red. Then again, I’m an editor.
You can scoop up BIC® 4-Color™ pens from Amazon and Staples.

Zoya Awaken collection

My girl Leandra over at Nail Polish Therapy did the honors of reviewing these samples of Zoya’s Awaken line. I am soooo here for her gorgeous nails and she has really done this collection quite the honor.

Zoya Awaken collection

Sweet, dainty and girly, this collection just yells whimsical. You’ve got your perfect subtle shades that are ideal for Spring, but they also make for great summer pedicures, as well.

Zoya Dot

Dot is a pink petal cream and it really reminds me of cotton candy. It’s one of those shades that you maaaay be able to deal with even if you aren’t a fan of the color pink.

Zoya Cole

Cole is a peach whisper cream and by far my absolute favorite of the bunch. It’s so hard to find a true and authentic orange sherbet shade that applies like buttah. Cole is IT!

Zoya Hudson

Hudson is described as a purple orchid metallic with a silver shimmer and it’s really one of those unexpected colors in a collection. I loooove a purple cream, but this purple metallic goodness here is just glorious.

Zoya Dillion

Dillion is a green mint metallic and is, of course, a sibling of Hudson. She’s just as fabulous and shimmery.

Zoya Rebel

Rebel is a blue sky metallic that is quite reminiscent of shimmery ocean water.

Zoya Brooklyn

Brooklyn is a white-gold shimmer metallic and how refreshing is it to have a yellow that isn’t a hot and streaky mess?

Applied like dreams, the kids of the Awaken collection are such a great fit in Zoya’s lineup. Also included is Monet. This multi-colored, cellophane holographic special effect topper is an additional $10 which is nice but I’m thinking you could probably go without it. Each bottle in the Awaken collection retails for $9 a pop and you can get the entire collection for $54 from Zoya.com.

Which shade is your fave?
