Mascara Monday: Rimmel Glam ‘Eyes mascara

Happy Monday, people! Can yall believe that on Saturday it was a 75 degrees here in Orlando, Florida? I know some of you are shooting me cyber birds but I am finding it so hard to get into the holiday spirit while blasting my air conditioning. Would I like 4 feet of snow? Noooo. But can a sista pull out the knee high boots? Obviously not!

I want to send mad love to the 89 of you who voted for this Mascara Monday’s mascara. Rimmel’s Glam ‘Eyes won by a landslide. Which I am grateful for because I would have been crying had yall voted for that $38 Lancome Oscillation. *wipes freshly threaded brows* Let’s bring on the review!

Rimmel Glam’Eyes Mascara

Price: 5 out of 5 ($7.29 from Ulta)
Packaging (Brush Wand): 3 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What it claims: “Seductive Volume. Turn heads. New VolumFlex Brush styles lashes for sensational volume and instant separation. Ultra supple elasto-bristles groom each lash, lacquering them from root to tip for a spectacular 7 x more lash intensity. Big Lash Seduction. High Definition. Maximum lash impact. Impeccable definition. Smoothing formula glides through lashes, wrapping each one for ultimate volume yet perfect separation. Lashes look dramatically amplified yet sleekly defined – even up close and personal!”

The truth: Could it be? Am I getting a little curl factor? Heyyyyy!

What I loved about it:
I’m amazed at how this mascara gave me a little curl. Now it could be my imagination. Or perhaps my lashes were already curled from the previous days’ pumps of a eyelash curler. But…I think Glam ‘Eyes did more than give me a little volume and I was excited about it! I’m diggin’ the wand too. Nothing too fancy but it was sturdy and the bristles were long enough to get my lashes without me darn-near poking my eye out.

What I didn’t like: Well, I wasn’t too WOWed by this mascara at first. As I mentioned in the video, I haven’t heard much about it. In fact, if it weren’t for ClumpsOfMascara.com readers and their requests, I probably would have never considered this mascara for review. I guess that’s not a reason to NOT like it so let’s move on..LOL!

Overall: I would say that Glam ‘Eyes does a pretty darn good job as far as volumizing mascaras go. Is it super duper OMG “this is it!” amazing? Nah, I wouldn’t say that. But it’s pretty good. I found it to be light on my lashes and build-able. Even after 3 coats, I didn’t have the “too much mascara on” look and I didn’t endure any flakes either. As I mentioned earlier, I really do think that this mascara gave me some curl…You can see for yourself in the video.

Lashes with NO mascara

Lashes with TWO coats

Would I recommend it?: Yep! I think you volume-seekin’ folx out there would enjoy Glam Eyes. Now be honest….do yall see some curl in my lashes? I do think so!!

…..thanks again for those of you who have voted! I say we make Mascara Monday: You Pick a tradition here at Clumps of Mascara. Once a month…..readers choose!

FOTD Friday: Lancome’s Gift with MORE Purchase

Happy happy Friday! I can NOT believe how fast this week has gone. I’m not complaining…..we’re getting closer to the holidays and then my birthday (January 2nd)!! The good ole’ 24. *sigh* But I will forever be 21.

*crickets*

Alrighty then, let’s bring on the FOTD! I was in Tallahassee during the Thanksgiving holiday and refused to get into any of that Black Friday madness. Okay, I kid. I actually had plans to make it to Macy’s at 4 a.m. but was too busy partying it up with friends to go. I did, however, manage to snag that Lancome beauty box that I was desiring.

Spend a little less than $40 on any Lancome product(s)….and you get ALL of this for $48.50. A bit of a stretch but I figured this was the best time to try out some of Lancome’s products. Mommy dearest and I went half. I purchased Lancome’s Magnifique..

Another “grown up” fragrance that I absolutely adore! I’ll review that in the coming “Let It Clump” posts. I decided to play around with my Lancome eyeshadow palette to see how the colors’ texture compared to other brands.

I mean the colors are definitely pretty enough. A little too shimmery for my liking but I was loving the intensity of the colors when I initially swatched them.

Here’s what I used:

EYES:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Lancome palette (GOLD-inner lid, GREEN-outer lid BROWN-crease..and the highlight color)
Clinique’s brush on gel liner in Black
Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Black
Dior DiorShow mascara (gave it a whirl again)

FACE:

MAC Studio Finish concealer in NW45
NYC Color Chroma Face Glow in Sandstone

LIPS:
MAC Nightmoth lip liner
Lancome Coquette
Too Faced I Love Myself Mirror Lip shine

….Clumps of Mascara strikes again!
Where is my other earring?

OMG, is this not personality
overload or what? HA!

I can dig Lancome’s shadows! They blend beautifully and seem to work well on brown skin. I’ve used this palette several times for work and am definitely adding this to my “take when traveling” stash.

And don’t even get me started on the amazement that is Lancome Bi -Facil makeup remover. This make-up remover has been hailed as the greatest of all removers and I can see why. One swipe and it’s ALL gone.

Do you have any favorites from Lancome? Or did you cop any hot beauty sales during Black Friday? Tell me, tell me!

Have a wonderful weekeeeeend!

Stay beautiful,

Amor de Lacquer: Courtney’s Edition

Welcome to another post of Amor de Lacquer….the series all about nail polish and nail care! Send me your requests, suggestions and ideas at Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

Hey Guys its Courtney aka “Not Ur Sister” meaning I am Brittany’s sister :/ lol I tried out some new polishes that I loved to death that wanted to share.

I bought two Polishes at Sallys. Both were $5.99 from China Glaze. A brand that I love! …and there was a buy one, get one free sale. YAY ME!!!

I applied two coats to each nail then I applied a lovely top coat that my sister suggested called “Poshe “. I really likes these colors and I was inspired to get them because it’s cold outside and when I think of winter, I think of blues, silvers, golds and whites.

The Frostbite blue is so pretty. I usually change my polishes every two days but I may keep this one on for awhile. The Posche top coat really makes it shimmer.

I kept this one on. Even up until the Florida vs. Florida State game…I work at Florida State University and don’t think people would liked me very much wearing the hated rival school colors…lol.

The Platinum silver is a really pretty color to something I would wear daily and it is really pretty. It stands out without being too flashy.

ByeBye for now…watching my 1st christmas movie of the season…lol

B says…

This series is where we stop talking about make-up to explore other areas of beauty and beyond. That’s anything! Hair, fashion, jacked up love lives..anything! Any suggestions? Let me know at Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

Remember when I cut off alllll of my hair? Oh yes, chicas, I did. Actually I did it once back in 2004 but my crazy self went and did it again. If you are new to Clumps of Mascara I’m sure you are used to my shorter hair but the truth is, the short fro is fairly new. 3 months ago I cut it off and due to requests, I have decided to do updates. Especially for those newly natural or transitioning ladies.

Here was the 1st Month Upate.

And here we are at 3 Months!

LENGTH at 2 Months

LENGTH at 3 Months

NEW PRODUCTS:
-Aveda’s Dry Remedy Treatment (eh…check the video for details).
-An amazing Poo Bar that Amina from Coup de Couer gave me.
-Ojon’s Revitalizing Mist.

REGIME: I co-wash once/twice a week with Trader’s Joe Conditioner. For moisture, I massage my scalp with a lavender, rosemary/cedar and olive oil blend. For daily “refreshing” I use my homemade blend of water, vegetable glycerin, lavender oil and conditioner. OR I use Oyin Handmade’s Juices and Berries.

OTHER: I still don’t use any combs, brushes or any other accessories. I do wear the occasional beanie or African head wrap AND always a satin night scarf to bed. I was going to re-color my hair again but I haven’t just yet.

I like my hair at this point. I liked it more at 2 months because I really could just get up and go but now I HAVE to actually run my fingers through it so it doesn’t look too messy. I have officially decided to loc my hair and am searching for a loctian in the Orlando area. Hopefully by next month I’ll be sporting beautiful locs and before I know it I will be a beautiful brown lady with a crown on my head like….

Just gorgeous. Click the link below to see the hair update: video version.

Since we’re talking about hair…guess we might as well have a giveaway!
