OPI San Francisco collection, part I

I feel like such a big girl. I am finally caught up on reviewing summery nail polish collections and can now start cranking out Fall collections. Wee! I love when OPI does these location-themed collections. I always feel like I know a city a little better without actually going. Which probably sounds crazy but whatev. I received this collection for review and here’s the first 6 of ‘em.

OPI San Francisco

And I’m in love with them all. Or most of ‘em at least.

OPI OPI Peace & Love & OPI polish

Peace & Love & OPI is a gorgeous sage and eggplant duochrome. I can’t even begin to explain how much I love this polish. Duochromes are everywhere these days so I tried so hard not to be impressed but man, this baby just shines.

OPI Keepin' Suzi At Bay

Keepin’ Suzi At Bay is a rich and creamy bright blue. OPI describes it as a navy blue but I find it to be more of a cobalt blue.

OPI Incognito in Saulsalito

Incognito in Saulsalito is a dark blue that almost looks black at a quick glance. There’s nothing special to it but I love a good vampy and dark blue for the cooler months.

OPI Haven't The Foggiest

Haven’t The Foggiest is a foil-y and shimmery silver. Nothing out of the ordinary but somehow it fits in the collection.

OPI Dining Al Frisco

Dining Al Frisco is a gorgeous blue with sweet silvery undertones. I’m not sure how unique this is but I love it anyway.

OPI A-Piers To Be Tan

A-Piers To Be Tan is a chocolate-ly tan that I’m on the fence about. I never know how I feel about colors like this. Sometimes I like how they look and other times I’m like “Ewww!”

OVERALL: I applied 3 coats of each polish and didn’t have problems with any of them. Peace & Love & OPI really only needed 2 coats but I figured a third wouldn’t hurt. Stay tuned for my review of the next 6 of these babies.

5 Reasons Why Tarte Rocks

*This post includes a paid link.

“What’s the type behind Tarte Cosmetics, B?” I get asked this alllll the time. Mainly because I feel like some brand ambassador for Tarte. I am always bragging about one of their products and claiming how I just can’t get enough. And it’s true. If I had to pick a brand that embodied everything awesome and then some, it would be Tarte. And here’s why…

They have the best packaging!

Every time Tarte releases something new, I am blown away at how beautiful the packaging is. They use actual bamboo and sustainable items and every product just feels very REAL in your hand. The use of natural products goes with the natural concept and it’s as if the brand really puts a lot of thought behind how a product looks from the inside and out.

They have brown girl friendly cosmetics. Kinda.

Okay, so they don’t have an enormous amount of darker concealers and foundations but they have a good selection and this is HUGE for a natural cosmetic brand. Many brands seem to exclude the fact that we live in a multi-ethnic world and so beauty lovers of a darker hue are often left out when it comes to shade selection. I am happy to see that Tarte caters to women and men of all complexions. Kinda.

Their holiday sets are just fabulous.

You’ve seen their holiday sets, haven’t you? They are mind blowing! Even if I already own the products, I still make it my business to purchase at least one of the sets. Again, it’s just the packaging that sells me. Tarte has this really nifty way of making you feel like they’ve created an entirely new product just because of how gorgeous the holiday sets are.

They really are fragrance-free.

I’ve come across so many brands that claim to be fragrance-free but yet their lipsticks or glosses have just a faint vanilla-y smell. Tarte really is a fragrance-free brand and this totally speaks to my can’t wear fragrances because they’ll trigger a migraine soul. If Tarte ever decided to toss fragrances in their products, I know they’d pick natural fragrances and not any of that synthetic stuff.

Maracuja oil is everything.

Yeah, I know Tarte didn’t invent maracuja oil but they brought my attention to it and I can’t thank them enough for it. I’m an oil lovin’ girl and I just don’t know where I would be without that magical serum. I have never come across a more perfect all-purpose oil.

Any other Tarte lovers out there?

My new Hair Color with Clairol Professional’s new ‘Classic Collection

Last week I gave you gorgeous people a sneak peek of my hair coloring adventures. This post is sponsored by Glam and this go ’round I am showing you the results. You ready?

Clairol Professional

Not too bad, huh? I was surprised at how well Clairol Professional’s new ‘Classic Collection took on my dark brown hair. I always love going lighter when it comes to hair color but it can be tricky to do so without bleaching. I’ve had some TERRIBLE experiences with bleach so I’ve left that aspect of hair coloring to the professionals. But, I’m too cheap to pay anyone to do my hair so I am often left with hoping that my demi, semi and permanent hair jobs can lighten enough. And well, this stuff surprised me.

In the previous post I talked about how super easy it was to mix up. Application took longer than I expected (you know, considering I I only have less than 2 inches of hair) but when it did take it was gorgeous!

Hair Color

Of course there isn’t much styling to do to your hair when it’s this long so I simply wet my hair and ran my fingers through it to get my curls to pop a bit.  If I know I’m going to be out in the hot Florida sun, sometimes I’ll pile a little gel on top to help the curls stay around a bit longer but water usually works with no problem.

What do you think? I know most people go darker for the cooler months but hey, I beat to a different drum.

Natural Hair

Classic makes a comeback. Clairol Professional’s new ‘Classic Collection’ offers 16 timeless shades with a modern formula for brilliant shine and deep conditioning.

Silky Smooth Hair with Dove’s Daily Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner

Dove Daily Moisture

I know, I know. It’s as if Clumps of Mascara has turned into some kind of hair blog, right? It’s okay to switch it up every now and then, right? Through Glam Media, I was offered the opportunity to review Dove’s Daily Moisture Shampoo and Daily Moisture Conditioner. Considering I’m working with short hair again, I’m pretty open to trying many brands again. It’s been awhile since I’ve tried something from Dove so I was excited to give these a whirl.

Dove Shampoo and Conditioner

Aside from being a bit too strong on the fragrance side, I really enjoyed these! Since I recently colored my hair, I need a ton of moisture. I don’t wash my hair Daily but if I did, I know this stuff would work beautifully.

The shampoo is on the thicker side which works for me because it makes distributing it all over my dome super easy.

Dove Shampoo

I like to slather it on my hair and let is do its thing for a few minutes before rinsing out. I don’t use shampoos often because they tend to strip the hair but I found that this shampoo didn’t leave my hair as crunchy. WIN!

And then there’s the conditioner…

Dove Conditioner

I can get by using this more than the shampoo because it is just so creamy and wonderful. A dollop on my head goes a long way and after letting it sit for a good 10 minutes or so, my hair is beyond silky smooth. I can even get past the strong fragrance. Dove’s hair products are a lot like their body products. The end result is always silky smooth softness!

Right now Dove has this awesome sweepstakes going on. The Dove Great Hair Affair Sweepstakes has thousands of prizes up for grabs.

Dove understands that having beautiful, healthy-looking hair gives you the confidence to feel your best. Whether your hair is dry or damaged, Dove has a tailor-made solution for your hair care needs. After just one wash hair is shiny, healthy-looking and full of life. Thanks to Dove, you can look and feel beautiful from the inside out.

JOHNSON’s Drugstore Beauty Challenge: The Results!

Remember when I had the JOHNSON’s Drugstore Beauty Challenge and picked a few folx who promised that if they won, they would share their experiences with dabbling into some luscious products?

Check out what Liz has to say!

JnJ Body Wash

After scoring some awesome Johnson’s products (Vanilla Oatmeal Baby Moisture Wash and Baby Lotion, Baby Bedtime Moisture Wash and Baby Bedtime Lotion, Baby Bubble Bath & Wash, Baby Moisture Wash, Soothing Vapor Baby Bath and Baby Shampoo), I had only just brought them in before my Mr. asked if he could use these products, too, if they were in the shower. When I told him he could, he got REALLY excited about the Soothing Vapor Baby Bath, and immediately tried to inhale the scent. Too bad the safety seal was still on the bottle!

Of course, once I told people I was trying Johnson’s baby range, I heard a whole host of stories about their daily use of baby lotion, baby oil, and baby oil gel. To this day, my mom makes a concoction she refers to as “goop” which consists of a mixture of petroleum jelly and Johnson’s baby oil (there is NOTHING like goop on your feet! Nothing.).

JnJ Lotion

Browsing in the stores, I was very surprised at the range of Johnson’s products, including a natural range and cream in a tube that I imagine would be perfect for the dry autumn and winter months! The best thing of all is that I not only have a ton of products to use, I’ve found a new favorite thing. I have found my HG eye makeup remover, and it is Johnson’s baby shampoo! I already use Johnson’s Baby Shampoo to clean my makeup brushes; it cleans them gently, but thoroughly, so I’m not sure why it never occurred to me that it would make an AMAZING eye makeup remover. My daily work eye makeup look includes eye primer, two eyeshadows, brow pencil and two different mascaras, and Johnson’s Baby Shampoo is thorough yet gentle in removing ALL of that.

See! Who says you need an actual babeh to make good use out of these products! Thanks for sharing, Liz!
