Rejoice! Fashion Fair Has Made A Comeback!

So. What do you know what the brand Fashion Fair? And if you tell me that you’ve never heard of the brand, I’m going to freak out. Because…really? Actually, no. I’ll kind of understand because there aren’t that many higher end cosmetic lines developed with the brown woman in mind. I was sent these recently launched products and I couldn’t wait to feature them!

Fashion Fair

I vividly remember Fashion Fair’s iconic pink packaging from back in the day. While their counters were never bustling out of control like some of the other brands, Fashion Fair continued to provide brown women with products fit for us. A few years ago, the cosmetic line went through some rebranding and they are BACK…and better than ever.

Fashion Fair Cosmetics
With slick new packaging and gorgeous formulas and shades, I’m really going to have to keep an eye out on Fashion Fair. They are doing some big thangs and I want to know about it!

Fashion Fair Livid

Their range of eye shadows ($14/ea) are slim but they seem to cover the basics with neutrals, greys and blacks and other shades that can produce a mean smokey eye. I love everything about the shade Livid. This darkened lavender has a satin finish that applies beautifully to the skin.

Fashion Fair swatch

Sweet, right? I’m going to crank out a look using this shadow!

Fashion Fair Bold Lash mascara

In the mascara department, Fashion Fair has Bold Lash Mascara ($16.50) and I’ll do a separate review on that. My first impressions are positive though as the wand looks like it can do some major lash lifting. A good week’s worth of testing will confirm this.

Fashion Fair foundation
I hated that the True Finish Refining Mineral Foundation ($28) wasn’t in my shade but the good news is, Fashion Fair is giving us 18 shades to chose from. Yassss!! I’m going to drop by my nearest Fashion Fair counter to see which shade matches me because I am dying to see how well this foundation works. I love that it is free from oil, parabens and fragrances.

Fashion Fair Illuminating Powder broken

Good Illuminating Powders are hard to come by. And while she arrived to me smashed into pieces, I am going to find a way to repair her again and use the heck out of this Sun Soleil powder. It looks to be quite fitting for my complexion and reasonably priced at $29.

Fashion Fair lipstick
Girl. You knowwww I love a good red lipstick. I’ve been tangoing with IMAN Cosmetics’ Scandalous for quite some time but Seduction may take the cake. Fashion Fair seems to do darn well on the lipstick front. They have so many shades and they go for $16/ea).

Fashion Fair body kit

Fashion Fair skincare

Something I didn’t expect to see from them were skincare products. They have a ton for both face and body. Their Moisturizing Body Kits ($39) make for great gifts and with the combination of a body butter and body oil, it really is a nice value for a higher end brand. Plus, I found the fragrances to be mild, yet obvious without being overwhelming.

Hellooooo. Where have I been? Why didn’t I know more about Fashion Fair’s awesomeness? Why didn’t y’all tell me? They are certainly on my radar now and I plan to feature a lot more of their products in the future.

Any Fashion Fair fans in the house? What’s your favorite product by them?

A Visit to the Salt Room Millenia

“Seriously Brit? You’re going to a room of salt? That’s crazy. Even for you.”

My girlfriend is going to kill me for quoting her but I had to because she’s hilarious. When I told her that I was visiting a Salt Room, she couldn’t fathom what I meant. And I get it but the Salt Room Millenia is exactly what it sounds like. A room of salt. I’ve been visiting salt rooms with with Elle for months now and I was so excited when the Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida crew were invited to get a firsthand experience of the only Himalayan Salt Room in the Central Florida area.

And yeah, I know what you’re thinking. “It’s salt! Why would I want to sit in a room of it?”

Perfect for allergy suffers, those with with eczema, colds, ear infections and asthma, salt thearpy or halotherapy has been known to work wonders. A 45 minute session is so incredibly relaxing and visitors will notice an amazing difference in how they breathe. Regular visits will produce the best results and I enjoy taking Elle because even after her first visit,  her chronically dried skin felt so much better.

Salt covers the walls, ceiling and floor and microscopic pure salt crystals get pumped into the room. Salt lamps glow and you, you just sit there and relax in comfortable reclining chairs. It really is that simple. You can come as you are and chances are you won’t see any type of residue on your skin or clothes. Some of the girls mentioned that their hair smelled like salt, which I think makes for a nice “I just left the beach.” touch.

Having visited salt rooms at least 5 times, I am here to tell you…they work! I only wish I could build my own salt room (which is possible!) but something tells me I need to be on the side of wealthy and be a homeowner. Until then, I’ll be visiting the Salt Room Millenia for all of my salt therapy needs.

If you are in the Orlando area, check out the Salt Room Millenia.

Disclosure: My visit to the Salt Room Millenia was complimentary. All opinions are my own.

Video Review of the Urban Decay Electric Pigment Palette

Urban Decay Electric Palette video

So I recorded this entire video and it wasn’t until it was uploading on my computer when I realized that I had pink shadow smudged everywhere. And I was too lazy to redo the video. This is why this blog is called Clumps of Mascara. I can make these kind of mistakes because ca-learly my blog isn’t about perfection.

Ah yessssss.

But this palette

Urban Decay Electric Palette

Girl, it’s pretty cool stuff. And I’m a lame for just now showin’ it off but whatever. I received a press sample of it and did lots of swatches showing off how vibrant those shades pop on darker skin. Check out the video and make sure that you’re subscribed. These days I’m cranking out a video once a week which hasn’t happened in like…years. So enjoy it while lasts. 😎

And when you’re done, check out some of my other UD faves…

Summer Inspired Nails

My Beauty Bloggers of Central Florida group is back and we are all showcasing some of our favorite summer-inspired looks. I got all dolled up in makeup a few days ago working on separate project (that I shall reveal later) and I thought it was totally fitting for summer.

Clumps of Mascar rocks Summer Look

While the colors are muted, the products used are all sumer weather appropriate but when I think of summer, I think of lots of color. Y’know…the blue greens of the ocean. The shimmering red and orange of the sky as the sun sets. The burst of color from hot pink pedicures, neon oranges and bold blue purses. The sparkling stars in the midnight sky. I tried to represent it all on my nails.

Summer nail look

Polishes used:
-Orly Mint Mojito
-Orly Calypso Breeze
-Julie G Tangerine Dream
-Julie G Big Red Bow
-OPI Put A Coat On
-Nfu-Oh 53
-Lush Lacquer Clowning Around

Summer nails

In other news…I still suck at water marbling. But carry on and check out the summer inspired looks that my chicas did.

Zoya Tickled Collection

Sweet and creamy and made for Summer, Zoya’s Tickled collection was sent to me with the Bubbly collection. These shades are all bright and will absolutely satisfy the color fanatics of the world.

Zoya Tickled

See what I’m talkin’ about?

Zoya Rocha

Rocha is a red cream with warm undertones. It has a good amount of orange in it and while it isn’t wildly unique, it’s a fun mix between red and orange.

Rooney is a magenta pink cream but really I find it to be notch up from baby pink. I’ve never been a fan of pink nail polishes and I really want to hate this one but it is kinda growing on me. I’ve got to find a pretty top coat to layer over it.

Zoya Tilda

Tilda is a fantastic warm mantis green that looks more like a Granny Smith apple cream. Really, it is far more warmer and has a touch of white in it. It’s a great green and not one that I think Zoya has in their green lineup.

Zoya Wendy

Oh Wendy. I’m thinking this juicy summer melon will be a hot pick among many summer pedicure pickers. It’s a pretty average shade and is like a mature bubblegum but I’m sure this girl will look great on the toes.

Zoya Ling

Ling is a beautiful vibrant royal blue. I’m a lover of blues and this is perfect and fitting for those who want to take baby steps into wearing blues.

Zoya Kirtridge

Kitridge is the only polish that I had to apply 3 coats of. If Wendy is a mature bubblegum pink, Kitridge is the teenage bubblegum pink.

And then altogether in harmony.

Zoya Tickled collection

I’m a fan of this collection but really it’s Kitridge and Tilda that rock my socks. Formula, as always, was perfect and it seems like with every collection they release, Zoya just gets better and better on the formula front. Are any of these shades are callin’ ya? You can get the entire collection at for $54 for all 6 polishes for $9 a bottle.

RejuvadermMD: For Microdermabrasion On-The-Go

I am so here for beauty technology. Yes, I’m a hippie who enjoys making her own skincare products and (safely) laying in the sun to get my dose of Vitamin D, but I also love when beauty and technology play nicely. Such is the case with the RejuvadermMD Handheld Microdermabrasion System.

Yes, girl. Quite the mouthful, I know but come on…hang with me. I think you’ll like this nifty device. I had the opportunity to review this a few months back and I’ve been diligently using it ever since. I’ve never given Microdermabrasion a thought as I thought my skin couldn’t really benefit from it, but I couldn’t be more wrong. While I don’t have any wrinkles (YET, honey…being a Mom of a toddler means they’ll be popping up any day, though), I am all about preventative care. I want to have a regimen in place that can keep lines and wrinkles away for longer and minimize them when they do come.

Most beauty lovers are aware of microdermabrasion treatments that you can have at a spa. And you may be aware of products that you can purchase that claim to give a similar effect. However, RejuvadermMD is allowing us to have the same spa experience at home time and time again. Which, of course is not only cost-effective, but it’s convenient, as well.

RejuvadermMD on

4 settings determine the strength.

And simple. The actual device is lightweight, easy to pack up and relatively simple to use. Retailing at $199, RejuvadermMD totes the following features and promises:

  • Powerfully exfoliates the top 3-5 layers of outer dermis
  • Is “100% Crystal Free”
  • Delivers results on par with clinical treatments over time
  • Reduces the fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and brown spots on the face and body
  • Smooths uneven skin

RejuvadermMD up close

With its medical grade diamond tip, at first glance, you’ll see that RejuvadermMD isn’t a toy. This is for the big leagues, ladies and gentlemen. If you are serious about evening out that skin and keeping those wrinkles minimized, this is the device that you’ll want to use.

What is included in the kit?

-The RejuvadermMD device
Medium Coarseness Real Diamond Tip
-Pore Extraction Tip
-Infusion Tip
-50 pack Black Wool Filters
-Power Adapter
-User Manual

The First Run
I gave myself an entire month to test this device as I really wanted to experience how my skin felt after using it over many weeks. The suction on this devices reallllly sucks. And not a BAD suck, I mean an actual suck. There are 4 different levels and I found that the first 2 levels were perfect for me. Those with sensitive skin may struggle with the initial run because it may be painful. But hey, after seeing all of the gunk that came out of the tube, I was impressed at how powerful this device was.

RejuvadermMD on face

Who would most benefit from using the RejuvadermMD?
After consulting with their dermatologist, I bet those with cystic acne would really benefit from using this. Also, those looking to smooth our their skin and keep a nice and clear complexion would love it, too. I found that using it twice a week was perfect for me and it practically made my pores disappear. Okay, not REALLY disappear but they appear smaller when I am wearing makeup.

Can you purchase different tips?

You can! There’s the Pore Extraction Tip, Body Tip, Infusion Tip, Precision Tip and Diamond Tips for sensitive skin. The tips range from $25-$50 in price and are definitely needed for those who have specialized areas that they would like to target.

RejuvadermMD tips

And if you’re like me and suffer from acne from time to time, the Pore Extraction Tip is a total must have. Also, for an additional $39, I recommend getting a bottle of the Argan Stem Cell Serum.

RejuvadermMD Argan Serum

It not only helps to tighten the pores but overtime, the claims say that it will help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It’s like the whip cream on top of your sundae. The sundae is perfect alone but the whip cream can only make it better, right?

-Easy to use.
-Instruction manual is easy to understand.
-It pampers AND treats skin.
-You can purchase additional tips for various uses.

-May be painful during first use.
-Users may see redness after use. This is normal and the redness usually goes away within an hour or so.

And if you’d rather see a video…

I have to hide this from Grandmama Clumps when she comes to visit because I know she’ll be trying to get her hands on this. For more information about the RejuvadermMD and purchase, visit here.

POPSUGAR Must Have Box – June 2014 Edition

Ooooh, POPSUGAR Must Have box. I am so delighted to cross paths with you again. You are indeed the best beauty subscription box in the whole world.

Popsugar June Must Have Box

Yes you are. Oh yes, you are! I have a bit of a connection with this subscription box. And unapologetically so because oh my…POPSUGAR knows how to do a good box. I received this free box from the POPSUGAR team and I couldn’t be more grateful. As I do with all of my subscription boxes, we will highlight how fantastic this box is and determine if it is worth $39.95 a month.

As with all of their boxes, POPSUGAR is giving is a little pampthlet to flip through to see what we can expect from this month’s box.

Popsugar Must Have Box

Inspired by the beach, citrus, barbeques and all things summer, I really like the vibe of this box. Like, a lot.

Popsugar Must Have Box Emily Griffin

My eyes immediately floated over to the book The One & Only by Emily Griffin. This girl (who, by the way will ALWAYS prefer a hardcopy book over an e-book). I haven’t read it yet but I’m looking forward to it because, well duh…it’s a book. ‘Nuff said.

Popsugar Must Have Box hair ties

Lollies Basics Hair Ties are darling, yes, but definitely not useable for a gal like me who has oooh 2 inches of hair on her head? Seriously, girls. I am all about that less hair is more thang when the summer hits but for my girls with longer locks, I’m thinking they’ll appreciate these hair ties. They could actually pass for jewelry when worn on the wrist, too. My sister wears these and is a huge fan of them.

Popsugar Must Have Box towel

And what’s a summer inspired box without a beach towel? This Turkish-T beach towel is all kind so fancy. It’s by far one of the most lightweight(est? is that a word?) beach towels that I’ve ever used and it can also be used as a wrap for cool summer evenings. Love! You can buy it separately here.

Chips! I don’t eat potato chips mainly because I have the ability to inhale an entire bag in 2.2 minutes but these One Potato Two Potato Hawaiian BBQ chips were yummy and uh…totally didn’t last long in this house. Hence why there isn’t a picture of the bag. Hahaaaa!

Popsugar Must Have Box lotion

I’ve never heard of the brand SACHAJUAN but this Shiny Citrus Body Lotion is a nice addition to the box. Far too fragrant for me, I’m thinking most lovelies will appreciate the summery scent and its promises to calm irritated skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Popsugar Must Have Box Native Union

$15 gift card to Native Union. I usually scoff at gift cards given in subscription boxes but this one is right up my alley. The brand Native Union has some very cool techy devices and I already have my eyes on one of their speakers. Yay for geek gadgetry!

Popsugar Must Have Box lemon wipes

You Smell Lemon Wet Wipes are perfect to toss in a beach bag for quick cleansing. They are smell pleasantly pretty durable and definitely kid approved. Don’t ask me how I know. 😉

From now until June 30th, you can save $10 off a 3 month Must Have subscription using the code JUNESELECT10. Girl, get it. And now. And if 3 month is too much of a commitment, how about snagging one box? Although, I guarantee you…you’ll be hooked. This items in this box are valued around at least $114 and yet the box costs less than $40. Crazy deal. Order yours!

And in the meantime, check out my list of Must Have Inspired goodies…

POPSUGAR provided me with a complimentary POPSUGAR Must Have box. The opinions I have shared about the box are my own and POPSUGAR did not tell me what to say or how to say it. I have also provided affiliate links in this post.
