Veganize Your Lippies with Too Faced’s Newest La Creme Lipsticks

So remember that time I showcased those amazing and vegan Too Faced La Creme lipsticks? Welllll, the geniuses at TF have given us 4 more shades and I couldn’t be happier.

DSC_6185

Because you can never have too many lipsticks. And anyone who tells you otherwise ain’t a friend. I’m just sayin’.

DSC_6183

DSC_6176

Say ‘ello to the new lovelies. I surprisingly love every single one. I’m a bit of Picky Patty when it comes to lip colors but I seriously don’t have any compliments about any of these. This is just a quick feature of these babies since I’ve reviewed them before.

Bumbleberry, Loganberry, So Berry Sexy, Teddy Berry

DSC_6197

Bumbleberry is a darkened pink that has a nice work appropriate touch to it. It’s the kind of lipstick that you can wear comfortably by itself but then apply a lipliner for some added WOW-ness.

DSC_6219

Loganberry is a highly pigmented magenta that rocks my world. This is MY kind of pink. It doesn’t require anything else. She is dynamic on her on. This is definitely my favorite of the bunch.

DSC_6223

So Berry Sexy is a rich blue-toned rose that I find that will likely compliment anyone who wears it. It’s my second favorite of the bunch.

DSC_6225

Teddy Berry could have been a grandma shade but no, somehow it works. It’s the perfect lippy to wear when you want something without having to look TOO made up.

Do I recommend: Absolutely. I love everything about the La Creme lipsticks. The packaging is darling, they are super moisturizing and they seem to last quite some time on the lips. The color selection is great and I think these 4 are a great addition to the bunch.

Rock on, Too Faced! You done well.

OPI Mariah Carey collection

2013-02-022

Yes y’all! Mimi herself has partnered up with OPI to release her very own nail polish collection. I’m wondering why this is just now happening. She should have had her own collection years ago, uh? I adore Mariah Carey. Moreso the old skool Sweet sweet fantasy baby Mariah than anything else. And don’t even get me started on the albums Music Box and the Emancipation of Mimi. Yasssss. This collection is also where we see the revolutionary Liquid Sand formula polishes. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about them but honey, I’m lovin’ them.

DSC_6407

A Butterfly Moment is a frosty tan nude and it’s not what I would have put in a Mariah Carey collection. It has a bit of a Grandma feel to it. It’s definitely work appropriate and would probably look dynamic when used it nail art but by herself, meh…I’m not feelin’ it too much.

DSC_6419

Pink Yet Lavender is a pink glitter with lavender shimmer. She’s loaded with hex bits and holographic glitter. Nothing too unique but it’s a nice layering glitter. I’m not sure I get the name though. Am I being slow or does it not make much sense?

DSC_6432

Anti-Bleak isn’t terribly unique but I love this deep creamy purple. It has such a nice richness to it and while it takes 2 coats to reach full opacity, it looks stunning nonetheless. And of course I love that it’s a creme.

DSC_6449

The Impossible is a matte fuchsia with star confetti. This is one of the Liquid Sand polishes and whooooa – I love it. It dries to a sandy matte finish. It has a nice textured look and feel to it but the crazy thing is, removal is super easy. It’s as easy to remove as a regular polish – not a glitter. As much as I love The Impossible, I hated that I couldn’t get enough stars on the nails. Womp.

DSC_6440

Get Your Number is a matte blue with sparkles and I think this is my favorite Liquid Sand polish. It looks amaziiiiing. I don’t even want to see how this looks with a top coat. It looks so spectacular by itself.

DSC_6459

Stay The Night is a matte black with red glints. And don’t even ask me what a glint is because I certainly don’t know. Ha! I couldn’t get this one to look as sandy as the others. I waited a good 5 minutes for it to dry, but it still had a bit of a glossy effect to it. Maybe I got a dud? I’m not sure but I still dig the red sparkles.

DSC_6467

Sprung is a shimmery copper. This is another unexpected shade for me. It just doesn’t scream Mimi. It’s pretty enough but it’s just okay…

DSC_6478

Can’t Let You Go is a matte purple with dazzling sparkle is woooow, this is another one of my favorites. It actually looks a bit more of a blue violet in real life but it is wonderful. And I don’t think I’d love it as much if it weren’t for the Liquid Sand effect.

I used about 2 coats of polish for polish here and I didn’t have any serious application issues. The Liquid Sand polishes apply beautifully and there aren’t you tricks that you need to know prior to applying them. They are so great and I am loving this trend. I’m sure we’ll see more of these from OPI and other brands. And I am definitely okay with that.

Price: $9/bottle

Tales of the Makeup Remover That Didn’t Remove

I was actually kind of excited about trying and falling in love with this eye makeup remover. I’ve been using expensive eye makeup removers for years now and I’m sick of it. I can go budget for practically anything but when it comes to removin’, I can’t help it if the expensive stuff seems to be better for me.

But I knew good ole’ Mayb wasn’ going to let me down with this innovative gel makeup remover. I knew I was glaring at a winnah!

Or so I thought.

DSC_6006

At first glance, the remover looks pretty stellar.

DSC_6007

Gorgeous packaging? Check.
Affordable? Check.
Stellar claims? Check.

She promises to not only remove makeup but to also soothe the skin as well. Having a lousy eye makeup remover just isn’t an option for me. I need a spectacular one. IF you tell me you’re going to remove every trace of my eye makeup including waterproof mascara, then I expect you to. Period. Wellllllls, this remover wasn’t so hot. But let’s talk about her pros.

I don’t think I’ve ever come across a remover with a formula like this so I can appreciate Mayb pushing the envelope a bit. I popped the top and I was impressed with the housing there…

DSC_6015

This allows you to only put a teeny bit amount on a cotton ball, swap or Qtip. Cool, right? But it was really the fragrance that threw me for a loop. Okay, granted I am sensitive to fragrances but this stuff was stroooong. It smelled floral and just…nauseating. I get it. People like scents, but come on – do you need a makeup remover with a fragrance? I don’t think so. Fragrance-free is the way to go with stuff like this. The consistency was interesting…

DSC_6016

DSC_6017

And I found that it wasn’t as effective as a remover with more of an oil or watery consistency. In fact, it took almost an ounce of remover to complete remove my eyeliner and mascara. Plus, I just didn’t like how the “gel” felt around my eyes. Soothing, yes? But I felt like it kept seeping in my eyes. It’s a personal thing, I guess because I know some people can’t get down with removers with an oil consistency.

So yeah – this definitely wasn’t up my alley.

The Basics

Price: $4.99
Availability: Scoop it up at any drugstore both online and in stores. Target and Walmart too!
Do I recommend?: Nope. I wasn’t a fan.

Have y’all tried this? What makeup remover are you currently using?

Target Spring Beauty: Bright Eyeshadow For The Win!

Desktop

Okay, so it’s been a minute since I’ve rocked a crazy bright makeup look. Such looks take time and let’s face it, I am fresh out of that seasoning. But let’s not forget about some of the bright looks that I cranked out once upon a time. Oh yes, girl…I was fancy back in the day. And shoot, give me a few months and I’ll get back into the swing of things. In the meantime, check out some of the bright looks that I’ve featured on Clumps of Mascara…

Mayb4

Ahhh yessss, rainbow eyes! I very rarely wear red or orange eyeshadow because um, exactly WHERE can you wear it without looking a bit out there? Especially in my line of work. But when I’m off to a beauty event or hangin’ out with the girls. I’m not the best at blending my eyeshadow but the key is finding working with colors in the same spectrum. Red and orange is such the perfect combination and makes blending so much easier.

Mayb3

Why so blue, uh? I love blue eyeshadow. It’s another eyeshadow color that I don’t wear often enough mainly because it takes me forever to blend blues. I can’t just put it on the lid and keep on goin’. But that’s okay because playing around with blue eyeshadow is an adventure, yo.

Mayb1

And then there are purple-y/magenta – I’m just a wee bit obsessed with these kind of shades on my lips so I love that I can find eyeshadows that give me the look that I’m yearning for. But as bright as magenta can be on the lids, I love being able to tone it down with a bit of brown eyeshadow in my crease. That plus a nice highlighter gives me an insanely bright but beautiful look.

But my next venture into bright eyeshadow look is going to be using this palette…

DSC_6342

This L’Oreal Colour Riche eyeshadow palette can be scooped up at Target. And I’ve soooo got my eyes on some of those other palettes. And that Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner Pen too.

I can’t wait to start cranking out more bright eyeshadow looks this season. Are you a fan of brighter looks or not so much?

It’s Time for Springtime.

The Man Repeller GLOSSYBOX

DSC_6497

I haven’t reviewed a GLOSSYBOX since last year and it’s already March. Time freaking flies. Cliche, I know but it’s always really apparent when I’m playing around with beauty stuff. This month GLOSSYBOX partnered with blogger The Man Repeller. I’m not familiar with this blog so I’m not sure how it all went down. It appears to be a fashion blog that focuses on a lot of International fashion. If you have some insight on The Man Repeller, please let me know. In the meantime, let’s check out this GLOSSYBOX…

DSC_6500

As in all of the boxes, we’ve got a magazine that features season trends and whatnot…

DSC_6499

And then the main event…

At first glance, I was excited because for the first time in a while, it looked like this GLOSSYBOX contained items in which I was interested in using them allllll.

Le Metier de Beaute Replenishing Daily Solution -full size $225

DSC_6503

I’ve featured LMdB products before but I haven’t tried any of their skincare products. Aaaand for obvious reasons. They are a bit the expensive side. I haven’t tried this yet but I don’t think I want to. Because then what if I like it? Then I’ll be stuck having to spend THAT much on a skincare product? Nah bro.

Narciso Rodriguez for Her Eau de Toilette Spray – full size $77

DSC_6508

Okay, so we all know I kicked wearing perfumes to the curb years ago due to the fact that they give me migraines but even if they didn’t, I wouldn’t re-open my love affair for ‘em with this one. It smells like old ladies. No bueno.

Living Proof Prime Style Extender (hair primer) – full size $20

DSC_6511

I’m not a fan of hair products in beauty boxes (mainly because they are almost never geared toward my hair type) but this is a decent sample size if I were interested in using a hair primer.

Vincent Longo Lipstain – full size $23

DSC_6518

Yay! I full size product. I love everything about this richly pigmented red lipstick. It is definitely the star of the box for me.

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume mascara – full size $25

DSC_6528

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mini mascara in a beauty box so yaaaaay for that. I’m a mascara snob in that I’d much rather use a full size mascara than a mini one but for a sample box, it works. Plus, I can use this mascara in my cosmetic bag for travels.

OPI Can’t Let You Go Liquid Sand nail polish – full size $9

DSC_6531

Fantastic choice! It’s not only a full size nail polish but it is OPI’s newest formula.

Fresh  Umbrian Clay Mattifying Serum – full size $35

DSC_6535

I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m excited to. It’s a good pick for a beauty box because it’s large enough to let you try out the mask the serum at least 2-4 times.

Overall:
I always judge the value of a GLOSSYBOX by the variety of products and if what is given has a value that reaches or exceeds the cost of the $21 box. Looks like this one did a darn good job. We got a hair, nail, skincare, cosmetic and perfume sample. Two of the samples were in full size and together they cost more than the cost of the box. Not a bad box for this month. The lipstick and nail polish are true winners in my book.

Are you a GLOSSYBOX subscriber? What did you think about this month’s? Oh! And if you aren’t a subscriber, head on over to the site and sign up.

Gettin’ Vivid Lips Thanks To Target Beauty!

1_AuthorBadgeGLAMpink

Oh darlings – Spring is almooooost in the air. And no one knows this better than my retail BFF, Target. I love me some Target. It’s more than love, really. It’s like an obsession. Target isn’t even just a noun in my book. It’s a verb. I Target. Yuuup. It really is THAT serious. And look what I found on my most recent trip…

DSC_6864 First of all, like the Maybelline Color Whispers lippies, I pretty much need all of these too. Neon Red is perhaps one of my favorites of the bunch because it’s bold enough to rock confidently but yet it’s not TOO over the top. Not that I have a problem rockin’ over the top lip colors. I’ve been meaning to do a full out review of these but just know that if you are looking for a new lipstick shade and you aren’t bashful, you’ll love Neon Red. DSC_6871 I’m picky about my reds so I’m kinda shocked that I love this one so much as it has a little more orange in it than I would like. But I’m not complaining too much because darling, it is just THAT fierce. DSC_6874.NEF Yes, girl yes. And thank you Target Beauty for carrying these beauties. Have you discovered these in your Target? Target is all ready for Spring and even if the weather in your neck of the woods says otherwise, you can’t deny the Spring-y feeling you get from watching this beauty vid.

It’s Time for Springtime. “Disclosure: Compensation was provided by Target via Glam Media. The opinions expressed herein are those of the author and are not indicative of the opinions or positions of Target.”
