Let It Clump: Dr. Miracle's, Miss. Jessies 'an Essie

Yaaaay, it's time for a Let It Clump post. We haven't had one of these in awhile.
This series is where we stop talking about make-up to explore other areas of beauty and beyond. That's anything! Nails, hair, fashion, jacked up love lives..anything! Any suggestions? Let me know at Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

Today we are going to rap on two haircare lines and we'll have a few nail polish shots and just an overall good time in this edition of Let It Clump.

And yesss, I've provided a video for you folx who loooove to hear my annoying voice. I try to front like I hate makin' videos....but really I love it! Heheheeee...

First up we have Dr. Miracle's.

First of all, I can't say that I'm a fan of their commercials. I think they are a tad bit offensive and a little over the top. And then of course it has that implication that a big fro-style hairdo is "toe up" but long curls (ahem, or weave) is acceptable. I beg to differ. I'll save the ranting for my personal blog but if you can get past the commercials you will find some pretty decent products.

Dr. Miracle's has everything from no-lye relaxers to dandruff serums and hair sprays. I dabbled around in the over 6 of their products and have good reports on all of them! My 8 minute video will tell you what I think.

Next up is Miss Jessies Curly Pudding and if you haven't watched about video yet I talk about this product as well.

I seriously think this is one of the most over-rated products I have ever purchased. Not to mention it is too expensive. I purchased the sample size for $7.00 which was enough to play around in but the product itself did absolutely nothing for me. BTW: a 16 oz jar is $38.00. *looks around* I don't think so.

But it does smell good.

And that's where the joy ended for me. I think that products like these are really for people with wavier textures. If anyone can find products that actually work for people thick and kinky...please let me know because I'm starting to think they don't exist.

My friend Nicole asked me about Essie's fingernail polishes. I'm actually new to this brand but I loooove the formula. It's better than.....dare I say it....China Glaze. *gasp* Yes, I'm cheating on China Glaze with Essie and I'm lovin' the affair.

Ohh, look at Alligator Purse.
A beautiful "fall" terracotta-like color

I am obsessed with this Pool Boy. It's like
a muted magenta. I have it on my toes now.

A color both my Grandmother and I can
agree on. Spritzer is the business!

Bahama Mama in the light

Bahama Mama in the dark

So yesss, I'm all over Essie's products now. I got these from Ulta for buy 2 get 1 free and even snagged that Spritzer for only $2 in the clearance bin.

So we've covered a lot. Tell me your thoughts on Dr. Miracle's, Miss. Jessies and Essie. Any must haves? Any regretted buys? Let ya girl know!

Peace and prettiness.

Orange Nail Polish

Knock Knock

Who's there?

Orange....

Orange Who?

Orange you glad it’s summer time!

Now yall know I’m a cornball, so don’t even trip. Hehe…but seriously, orange is the business this summer. I'm not even kidding. Yes, something doesn't become the "it" thing until a celebrity is spotted wearing it but I've never been hesitate to wear orange nail polish. And I know orange isn't one of those colors that you can wear freely if you have a professional job, but bustin' them on the toes is also an alternative. I'm wearing OPI's Cajun Shrimp now on my tootsies.

I'll spare you the feet photos this time. I felt rather odd uploading them. But seriously....I swear it's the prettiest color I have ever laid eyes on. And yes it's brown girl friendly. I actually think that most fingernail polishes go well with brown skin. So whoever told you they you can't sport yellow polish, tell them the Head Newb at Clumps of Mascara thinks otherwise. Ha!

I can't seem to find OPI Cajun Shrimp anywhere in stores and my lady who did my pedicure wasn't trying to sell it to me either. Turns out that I have some pretty beautiful orange polishes in my little collection....you ready?

Fingerpaints ($2.99)...this color doesn't have a name, but I think it is the closest "work appropriate orange" we are going to get. It has a few shimmers (one day I'll learn polish terminology) and is a gorgeous rusted orange.

TKC Mandarin. I purchased this from the nail salon so I'm not sure where they got it from but it has more of a matte finish and is truly the color of a mandarin. It is such a beautiful orange. I'm rockin' this color on my nails this weekend!

Isa Dora Orange (copped this one on sale for $2 so I'm not sure of its retailed value). This is my 2nd favorite orange polish. It is a beautiful muted orange and I think its subtlety really pops out on brown skin. Clumps of Mascara strikes again with the smudged nail!

Milani Juicy Glo ($3.99). This polish has a similar matte finish to that TKC and in terms of colors, they are almost identical. Milani's Juicy Glo has bit of "neon". Ohhh yess, I adore this. I would definitely wear this on the fingers and toes. Grrr, and excuse the blur on this one. I promise I will learn how to successfully take nice polish and fingers pictures.

And the best thing about these orange polishes is that they can all be found at your local drugstore. And look out for buy 1, get 1 free deals on Milani and Fingerpaints. I love french pedicure on the toes like every other girl, but step it up a notch with some color, girlfriend!

Orange you glad that you can be fab on a budget?

Okay....I'll stop. But I really wanna know your input....yay or nay to the orange polish?

Let It Clump's Debut!

Welcome to Clumps of Mascara’s first post from the Let it Clump series. Let It Clumps posts are where we stop talking about make-up to explore other areas of beauty and beyond. That's anything! Nails, hair, fashion, jacked up love lives..anything! Any suggestions? Let me know at Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com.

Today’s post (and many posts in the near future since this is one of my newest obsessions) is about nails! I am obsessed with nail polishes. Not so much designs, but I absolutely adore beautiful nail colors and find that a lot of them compliment my skin tone. All Laquered Up, one of my favorite beauty blogs dedicated to all things nails, is one of my inspirations. I love wearing anything from neon green, orange, royal purple and black polishes on my nails and toes. Because I try to be a professional lady, I don’t walk around with these colors ALL the time, but that doesn’t stop me from buying them and at least sporting them on my toes.

Today’s creation came out of nowhere. I stumbled across my white finger nail polish from when I tried to keep up my French manicures. But now I think that French manicures on the nails are so played out. Hence my reason for trying to step outside of the box on this one.

Crazy, uh? And with a look like this, you just have to top it off with a big piece of costume jewelry. It’s madd fun!

And last weekend I had a getaway with the BFF and check out the colors on the tootsies.

That's Coconut "somethin" from China Glaze and I loved it so much that I purchased it. Postin' pictures of my toes is the first and rather awkward. LOL!

What do you think? My mascara is still clumping but I'm lookin' fab in the finger/toenail department!

[Oh, and by the way....I'm headed to NYC tomorrow morning until Sunday so excuse the lack of posts. If you're in the NYC area...hit me up. Let's paaaarty! Have a fab weekend, everyone!]
