Price: 2 out of 5 (I got it for $19.50 at Macy's in International Mall in Tampa Bay)

What it claims: "Get lashes nothing short of spectacular. Beyond Long Maximum Length Mascara extends lashes up to 40% longer. A sleek wand wraps lashes in rich color instantly lengthening and separating each to create dramatic definition. It's eye drama all the way, without a flake, clump, or smudge in sight..."

The truth: Well, it does length your lashes but it didn't impress me too much.

What I loved about it: I absolutely adooooore the brush. Scroll back up and check out that picture. That is EXACTLY how it looks in person. It has nice and thin bristles and the end of the mascara wand is "squared" off so you don't get that nasty clumpy bit of mascara juice on the end. Yall know what I'm talkin' about, right? I loathe that. This is my ideal type of brush. But that is where the joy for this mascara ends for me. By itself, it isn't anything spectacular. I noticed a bit of length in my lashes but nothing to jump up and down about. I tried using it with one of my favorite mascaras and if still was just "eh"....which is why I gave the mascara just an
"average" score. The packaging however is just gorgeous. The bottle is beautiful and has a nice soft grippy thing to help you with your overall application. Which I liked.

Would I purchase again?: Probably not. The price is a bit too steep for me for a mascara and it just didn't do anything for me. But I'm not against trying Prescriptives mascaras again if I'm looking to blow some money. And is it sad that one of the reasons is because their tubes are so sexy? Haaaa!!

Mascara Monday: Imju Fiberwig

Happy happy Monday! Please excuse my ghost-ness. I went to Tampa to visit some fam and I saw my Grandmother. I haven't seen her since I graduated from high school!! It was a big deal to see her beautiful face and snuggle up next to her. Loves it. Next week I'm headed to Miami to visit the other Grandmother. I'm so blessed. Hope that you all had a wonderful looooong weekend. Let's get goin' on the mascara review.

Imju Fiberwig

Price: 3 out of 5 (I got it for $22 at Sephora)

What it claims: "Fiberwig Mascara represents Imju's superior quality and hi-tech approach to cosmetics; a mascara that replicates the illusion of false eyelashes.."

The truth: I wouldn't say that it gives you an illusion of false eyelashes, but I have never seen my lashes look so full and long.

What I loved about it: Imju is a Japanese cosmetics company that is known for their innovative cosmetics. I first heard about Fiberwig from one of my favorite beauty bloggers: Grayburn. She fell in love with this mascara and now I see why. I think my video may do a better job at explaining just HOW it works but when I tell you it is the most amazing thing I have ever tried....I ain't lyin'. Fiberwig contains, I guess "fibers" that attach to your lashes and with each stroke you can length your lashes.. Contact wearers and sensitive eyes' folx, don't fret. These fibers don't come anywhere near the eyes. It takes some practice getting used to Fiberwig. I prefer long outer lashes so I concentrated there. I also looooved taking the mascara off. With just a dab of water on your fingers and massaging your lashes, it comes off. It's so easy that it is actually fun. Even if you are satisfied with your current mascara or in love with your natural lashes, this is a product that you just HAVE to try.

Mascara Monday: Maybelline Define-A-Lash

It's another Mascara Monday, ladies. Mascara Mondays is when we show tribute to the star of the blog in attempts to find *drum roll*.....the best mascara ever! Today I will be reviewing Maybelline's Define-A-Lash.

What it claims: "This zero clump mascara creates stunning length with clean definition."


The truth: I mean, it's just okay. Nothing spectacular.

What I loved about it: I love the lime green packaging. Sounds silly but I love pretty tubes. The formula claims to be washable and it actually lives up to that.

What I didn't like: I hate that flippin' brush. And it was a bit clumpy.

Overall: Wellll, I don't know. This mascara is just didn't do it for me. I have to admit though, it did give me great definition. The brush takes a quite bit of getting used to. I found that it was too flimsy and didn't give me the control that my clumsy self usually needs when applying mascara. Plus it was a bit too flaky and clumpy for me. Booooo.

Mascara Monday: Maybelline the Colossal Volum' Express

Happy happy Monday! I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend! Thanks for voting on the next reviewed mascara. The Colossal one this time around but don't worry Define-A-Lash ladies....I'll be reviewing that one next week. So did the Colossal live up to its name?

Maybelline the Colossal

Price: 6 out of 5 (I got it for $6.99 from CVS)
Packaging (Brush Wand): 3 out of 5
Overall: 4 out of 5

What it claims: "Megabrush instantly zooms on 9x the volume in one stroke, without clumps."

The truth: Hey hey!! I like this! As a waterproof mascara, it is a bit difficult to take off but it's not half bad.

What I loved about it: It really separated my lashes. Like amazingly. I love it!

What I didn't like: The brush is a little bigger than I like. And it is a bit flaky, but nothing that I can't handle.

Overall: I am really becoming a huge Maybelline mascara fan. Seriously. XXL Curl Power so far is my HG mascara but the Colossal can easily take that position. It is a really good mascara. I found that aside from getting my lashes "out there", it also helped separating them. Did I experience clumping? Noooope! For $6.99, I can't complain. Big ups to SlvrLips for letting us know about this baby there. I am extremely impressed and recommend this mascara to those looking for volume and length. If you are in dire need of some curl too, I suggest pumping a good eyelash curler on your lashes prior to mascara application. I've heard some people are hatin' on the Colossal because of the unattractive color of the tube, but I think that's a crazy reason to not try something new. This mascara could come in a puke green tube with gray and yellow spots and I wouldn't care. If it works....it works!

Mascara Monday: SpinLash

Another Monday means another another post from the Mascara Monday series. But first...look around! I added an "About Me" link and a search button to the site. It's pretty accurate so play around with it when you get a chance. Beauty bloggers all over have been reviewing SpinLash. I honestly don't know what they're saying. Didn't want anyone to taint my views but I'll tell you one thing...when I received this product in the mail, I was excited!! Was it worth the hype?

What it Claims: ".......first mascara to solve the clumping problem through its innovative, patent pending rotating brush that responds to your touch. "

The truth: Ohmigoodness….it really does spin!

What I loved about it: I was first concerned at how difficult it would be to hold, but nope, it wasn’t as bulky as that CoverGirl Lash Blast. I liked how it separated my lashes but didn’t make me feel like I was undergoing some kind of eyelash surgery.

What I didn’t like: I don’t think that there was a particular aspect about it that I didn’t like.

Overall: Not bad. It’s a bit on the expensive side, (kinda makes sense, it is battery operated) but it actually does what it says it is going to do. It doesn’t tickle or make me feel uncomfortable which was a concern of mine. It does a wonderful job at separating the lashes and making them look fuller. I didn’t use the mascara that was provided. I actually used Dior’s Blackout (giving it another try) and liked the results that I got when I used the Spinlash. Because I have funky lashes, I would probably use this a lot more than the average person. You can get them at your local Target stores for $15.00

Grrr, yessss....yall know how I feel about Mondays. I'm hopin' that my girl Kia from Yummy411 had a wonderful birthday on Saturday!!!! The only joy I get from Mondays is sharing a new mascara review with you wonderful people. Yall know I can't keep up with reviewing a great deal of beauty products but one thing I don't mind reviewing is mascaraaaaa. Especially the ones that say they can work magic. So how did Sephora's Lash Plumper do?

Sephora's Lash Plumper

What it claims: "Fatten your flutter with this lash-plumping formula. The larger brush, with slightly tapered edges, reaches from root to tip, for truly bat-worthy volume and glamour."

The truth: This is a joke, right?

What I loved about it: The fact that I received it in sample size for free.

What I didn't like: The product.

Overall: Boo and double boo. What just happened? ....absolutely NOTHING and that was the problem with this mascara. As a volumizing mascara, I expected clump-less coated lashes. I, in return, got....nothing. Not happy with that. Boo again.

Mascara Monday: MAC Zoom Lash

Happy Monday, gorgeous people! You know that the only thing good about Mondays are Mascara Mondays! You know I'm still trying to find the BEST mascara ever.

If it exists.

And lemme tell you...Maybelline XXL Curl Power is my current LG. Love it!

This time around I reviewed MAC's Zoom Lash Mascara. Did it really give me zOoOoOm?

What it Claims: "This instant volume mascara power-lifts the lashes into length, curls them up...builds them faster than you can wink! Precision control wand glides smoothly down lashes to provide a gorgeously silky upward “sweep”. Smudgeproof and long-wearing!"

The truth: Seriously….it does give you some “ZOOM!”

What I loved about it: What I love most about Zoom Lash is the wand. I adore wands that are smaller in size with nice defined bristles.

What I didn’t like: It made my lashes a bit too wispy. And it is flaky. Yuck!

Overall: One of the better MAC mascaras, in my opinion. Zoom Lash works for me simply because it really gives my lashes a “wave” that I would not otherwise have. I also love that it is long lasting and doesn’t loose its lift throughout the day. I can certainly do without the flakiness, though. And I think I need to mention that this mascara makes your lashes a bit stiff. I personally like this feature because a lot of mascaras either weigh down my lashes or don’t give them enough lift. I can dig it!

Clinique's Lash Power Mascara Review

Happy Monday, beauties! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. It’s another Mascara Monday. You all know by now the purpose of Mascara Mondays. To fiiiind....

Yessss, it is that serious. This time around I reviewed Clinique’s Lash Power Mascara. Was it as powerful as it proclaimed to be?

What it claims: "Vows to look pretty for 24 hours without a smudge or smear. One stroke and these pretty lashes last through rain, sweat, humidity, tears. Yet the formula removes easily with warm water. Unique brush reaches and beautifully lengthens even the tiniest lashes. Ophthalmologist tested, too.

The truth: Well….it ain’t lyin’.

What I loved about it: Ummm, okay, so it really does last! I’m impressed. It was a bit flaky, so I’m thinkin’ I shouldn’t put it on so heavy. And I absolutely adore the brush. This is my ideal mascara brush. It is thin to where it can get alll of my lashes, top and bottom.

What I didn't like: Well, it doesn’t provide volume or much length, but it looks great when applied on top of my current HG mascara.

Overall: This is one mascara that actually does what it says it is going to do. I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t give me sooooome volume. But then again, it didn’t say that it would. I got minimal curl but not enough to make me want to wear it by itself. Somehow I’ve developed allergies at the age of 23 (crazy, uh?) and this mascara was able to withstand the constant eye rub. But it really does stand strong all day and comes off easily with warm water. Fab! So if you are the type of lady that runs around all day and needs something that can keep up with you...this is right up your alley.

Maybelline XXL Curl Power review

Hi beautiful people!

I would like to start by thanking Blogger for the future posts feature. This is a busy blogger’s dream! I love this idea. And it’s another Mascara Monday!!...hmm mmm…on Wednesday. Still in “unpacking my life” mode but I just had to share with yall my absolute favorite mascara right now!

I mean, seriously….I think this is the best one ever. I’m in love. Dig the review.

Maybelline XXL Curl Power

This is seriously one of the best mascaras I have ever tried. I love it! It not only gave me curl, but length as well. The C-shaped brush takes a bit of getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it does wonders.

What I loved about it: It lasted throughout the entire day. No flaking whatsoever. My lashes are a bit funny actin’ and never stay curled but this mascara had them waving allll day long.

What I didn't like: As you can see in the picture, it is has two wands; a primer and the actual mascara. I didn’t really like the primer because it seemed to be a bit too liquid-y. I wish the consistency was a little thicker. I was also buggin’ at how big the mascara tube was. Because the brush is connected at the middle (does that make sense?), you have to really get used to holding it. And also because the brush is C-shaped, it's hard to get those corner lashes.

Overall: I adore this mascara. It definitely is the best mascara in my book so far. For only $7.99, I don't think I have ever been THIS satisfied with a mascara. You can cop it at any drugstore. If you are lookin' for extra curl and volume, this is the mascara for you. I know that this will always be up in my make-up stash. Love love love it!

Mascara Monday-4/28/08

Hi beautiful people! Excuse my silence this past weekend. I had a great amount of posts up my sleeve, but would you believe that I had zero internet service in my hotel room? The horror! No worries...I have lots of goodies this week, but fiiiiirst, it's time for another edition of Mascara Monday.

Yesss, Mascara Monday is where we review a new mascara in attempts to find THE BEST MASCARA EVER!

Now here’s one that I haven’t heard many beauty bloggers talk about. L’Oreal HIP is most known for their eyeshadow color payoffs. But how does their mascara stand up?

What it claims: " Unique combination of an increased new ultra black pigment and a volumizing formula ensures you will get your darkest lashes with maximum impact.


The truth: Well, it does give a little bit of drama, but not HIGH DRAMA. I wish that it could have given me a little length but nahhhh, not a lick of that. The consistency was pretty decent, it didn’t clump and noooo.....it certainly isn’t waterproof. But the black is really black; which I like!

What I loved about it: My lashes did look thicker and more prominent. And I love how it lasted throughout the entire work day.

What I didn't like: It wasn’t enough. I was looking for HIGH drama, but I don’t feel that this mascara gave me that.

Overall: I don’t think this mascara is THAT bad. It definitely isn’t one of my favorites and I don’t think I would purchase it again. However, I’m thinking that this would be perfect when paired with one of my other HG (holy grail) mascaras; namely one that gets my lashes out there. The wand is just “eh”. Nothing innovative or fun about it. It’s not the best wand, but I’ve seen worse. It gave me decent control. You can snag this at most drugstores where L’Oreal HIP is sold. However, this baby runs at regularly priced at $9.99 which I think is a bit steep for a drugstore brand. Better BOGO this one. If you need a good volumizing mascara, check this one out….but only if its on sale.

Oh, Great Lash!

I'm finally back from NYC. The next few Mascara Mondays will be relatively good ones. I just recently trashed 5-6 mascaras. All of them had their reasons. Some I wanted to turn in for Back 2 MAC (bring in 6 empty containers and get a free lipstick or eye shadow…fab!), others were on the 6-7 month mark and the ones left were ones that were just taking up space in the traincase. Sooo, I impulsively purchased 5 new mascaras in attempts to find….

THE BEST MASCARA EVER

Yep, it’s kind of a big deal..especially when your lashes are poo-butts like mine.

[NEWBIE SIDENOTE]: Good mascaras can be found anywhere. Don’t think let companies fool you into thinking that their $36 mascara is better than a drugstore brand.

Okay, so let’s introduce the first mascara up for review. This baby is no newbie to the mascara world. In fact, she holds a title as being one of the best mascaras. Allure magazine loves her, celebrities love her and many people just assume that this is the holy grail of mascaras.

I know, I know….this chick has been out for a quick little minute and I’ve actually owned her once or twice years ago. But I’ve learned A LOT since then as far as mascara technique and wanted to give her another chance.

What it claims: "Lash Building Formula builds even the tiniest lashes and the lash Building Brush makes lashes fuller and longer with no clumps or globs.”

The truth: I have to admit that everything it says it will do, it does! I think that this mascara is deserving of all of its awards and positive feedbacks!

What I loved about it: I loved how it lengthened my lashes. And even when applying more coats, it did not clump. And it's waterproof!

What I didn't like: It always made my eyes burn. Which is crazy because I don’t wear contacts or have sensitive eyes. When taking this off at night, I had to endure crazy burning.

Overall: I think that it is definitely a must have mascara…in addition to others, if you are a product junkie like me. Plus, it’s only $3.99 for two! Can’t beat that!
