Primer Comparisons

Happy Thursday, loves!! Can you believe that the weekend is almost here? Yessss!!! I figured I would drop a vid on one of my newest experiments. I haven't actually compared them side by side like my girl Julie has but one can't help but be intrigued by the idea that Too Faced's Shadow Insurance may one up Urban Decay's Primer Potion.

....to my newbies out there, don't even think about applying eyeshadow without a primer. The cult fave is Urban Decay Primer Potion (also known as UDPP) but I have also found success in concealer. I just recently purchased Too Faced's Shadow Insurance and haven't played around in it much with am glad to see that Julie has done the comparisons.

Check out her video by clicking on the link below.

.....do you have a preference in primers on your lids?

....and have you checked out Clumps of Mascara's column on MahoganyButterfly.com? I am so fortunate to be able to contribute to a website by and for Black women.

....I have 3 winners from Monday's contest but I am lookin' for oooooone more. Guess where I was born win a Palmer's Lip Butter. Here is the post.

Big love to JulieG. Her YouTube Channel is amazement!

Stay beautiful, lovelies!

...ooohhh and here's that wonderful v05 Flirting game again. I've already played 6 times today.

Mascara Monday: Prescriptives Beyond Long

Hi beautiful people!! And happy Monday to all of you. I know, I've been a bit ghost, but as promised I will be up on my game bringing your wonderful posts beautiful fabulousness alllll week. As usual, we are going to kick off our week with a Mascara Monday. Today we will feature:

.
.
.
.
.
Prescriptives Beyond Long

Price: 2 out of 5 (I got it for $19.50 at Macy's in International Mall in Tampa Bay)

Packaging (Brush Wand): 5 out of 5

Overall: 3 out of 5

What it claims: "Get lashes nothing short of spectacular. Beyond Long Maximum Length Mascara extends lashes up to 40% longer. A sleek wand wraps lashes in rich color instantly lengthening and separating each to create dramatic definition. It's eye drama all the way, without a flake, clump, or smudge in sight..."

The truth: Well, it does length your lashes but it didn't impress me too much.

What I loved about it: I absolutely adooooore the brush. Scroll back up and check out that picture. That is EXACTLY how it looks in person. It has nice and thin bristles and the end of the mascara wand is "squared" off so you don't get that nasty clumpy bit of mascara juice on the end. Yall know what I'm talkin' about, right? I loathe that. This is my ideal type of brush. But that is where the joy for this mascara ends for me. By itself, it isn't anything spectacular. I noticed a bit of length in my lashes but nothing to jump up and down about. I tried using it with one of my favorite mascaras and if still was just "eh"....which is why I gave the mascara just an
"average" score. The packaging however is just gorgeous. The bottle is beautiful and has a nice soft grippy thing to help you with your overall application. Which I liked.

Would I purchase again?: Probably not. The price is a bit too steep for me for a mascara and it just didn't do anything for me. But I'm not against trying Prescriptives mascaras again if I'm looking to blow some money. And is it sad that one of the reasons is because their tubes are so sexy? Haaaa!!

What do you think about this mascara? Have you tried it and liked it? How much is too much for a mscara? If you've sent me an email requesting a particular mascara to review, I haven't forgotten about you. I have a looong list. Keep sendin' me reviews at Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com

Stay beautiful!

Mascara Monday: Maybelline the Colossal Volum' Express

Happy happy Monday! I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend! Thanks for voting on the next reviewed mascara. The Colossal one this time around but don't worry Define-A-Lash ladies....I'll be reviewing that one next week. So did the Colossal live up to its name?

Maybelline the Colossal

Price: 6 out of 5 (I got it for $6.99 from CVS)
Packaging (Brush Wand): 3 out of 5
Overall:
4 out of 5

What it claims: "Megabrush instantly zooms on 9x the volume in one stroke, without clumps."

The truth: Hey hey!! I like this! As a waterproof mascara, it is a bit difficult to take off but it's not half bad.

What I loved about it: It really separated my lashes. Like amazingly. I love it!

What I didn't like: The brush is a little bigger than I like. And it is a bit flaky, but nothing that I can't handle.

Overall: I am really becoming a huge Maybelline mascara fan. Seriously. XXL Curl Power so far is my HG mascara but the Colossal can easily take that position. It is a really good mascara. I found that aside from getting my lashes "out there", it also helped separating them. Did I experience clumping? Noooope! For $6.99, I can't complain. Big ups to SlvrLips for letting us know about this baby there. I am extremely impressed and recommend this mascara to those looking for volume and length. If you are in dire need of some curl too, I suggest pumping a good eyelash curler on your lashes prior to mascara application. I've heard some people are hatin' on the Colossal because of the unattractive color of the tube, but I think that's a crazy reason to not try something new. This mascara could come in a puke green tube with gray and yellow spots and I wouldn't care. If it works....it works!

Per request....here's a video review of the mascara as well.

What do you think about this mascara? Have you tried it and liked it? Do mascara packagings turn you off? If you've sent me an email requesting a particular mascara to review, I haven't forgotten about you. I have a looong list. Keep sendin' me reviews at Brittany@ClumpsOfMascara.com

Costal Scents Brushes: Video Review

Why am I just now getting around to reviewing these? I actually did a video awhile back but forgot to create a post and upload.

HA!

I was too lazy to go through the Windows Movie Maker editing mess, and I didn't realize how dark I was but oh well.

Lining Larger Lips

I love my lips. I really do. But seriously....you really give a girl some issues when it comes to lining. The lack of definition is soooo frustrating. It is hard to achieve the perfect pout with larger lips. You want to make sure that your liner and lip colors compliment your lips and not make them look too crazy. So I attempted to a do a video that would help my girl and other ladies with beautifully full lips.

Muah!

Brown skinned + Fafi=coooo

I'm hardly on Specktra anymore because I find it hard to keep up with that AND beauty blogging. And since most of yall are good at relaying Specktra news, I have no reason to stroll through there anymore. But I checked out the Fafi for Women of Color thread and found a tutorial done by....duh, a woman of color. She has me thinkin' that this may not be too bad for us. I still can't get over how much I loathe pastels on me, but we'll see.

She didn't allow users to use the embedded version, so here's the link.

Shawnta, why did she remind me of you with her beautiful defined
browbone and gorgeous locs? I was like.....dang, twins!

Just some stuffff....

So I'm not into the Metal X shadows. I think they require too much work. That and my lids are waaaay too oily. I didn't even want to purchase those jokas because I knew I'd have some issues. Thankfully, EnKore has posted a video to help some of you who are having some issues with Metal X. And I think it's mad funny how die hard MAC users still use Urban Decay Primer Potion. Hehe...that's funny. I'm the same way. Although UDPP has been actin' crazy lately, for me.

Love this man. He's great.

Also one of my new and favorite beauty bloggers,
Lani has some stuff up for sale. Stroll on over to her blog and see if you're interested. She has a GREAT blog. I just love visiting because it's so festive!

And you're gonna die when see
Francine's beautiful birthday look. How skilled is she?! Amazing.

And a throwback pic for ya. Because I love me some throwbacks, mon!
Check me out at my first visit to MAC Pro in Orlando.

And me and the baby sisters helping me celebrate my surprise 21st birthday party that my then boyfriend held for me.

I'm about to be 23 on Jan 2nd! Nooooo! I'm getting old! 5 days 'til I go home to Floridaaaaaa. I can't wait!!!!!!! What can't you wait for? Tell me!

Peace and congrats to Saleisha!

Reviews...yaaay!

My internet access has been trippin' for the past few days so I haven't had the chance to do my beauty blog rounds or upate. Updates will be coming slower anyway since I'm heading home to Florida for the holidays. I'll be hanging with my girls, fighting with the guy, loving my Mom and just realllly enjoying some familiarity.

I did another video. It's a mess AGAIN. But that's just me. HA! I'm doing a review of my most recent items...(check the pic below). I reviewed:

Olay's Age Defying Eye gel
NYC's Cherrywood lip gloss
MAC's Prep-N-Prime
CoverGirl's Last Blash.

I will probably type up an ACTUAL review later.

OH....and it's official. I'm am discontining usage of all MAC face products; make-up wipes included. I'll take some before pictures to see if it is in fact MAC products that got my face trippin'. And I will do some holistic/homeopathic remedies as well as detoxing and fasting. So hopefully by March 08, I'll be back to my clear skin self without using foundations and powders.

Here's the vid.

And I say, "Anyway..." waaaaaay too much. HA! Funny how you don't notice annoying quirks about yourself until you SEE yourself.

Peace y horchata. Me gustaaaaa.

My Haul

So guess who decided to do a review of her most recent haul?
MEEEE!!!

It ain't nothin' spectacular. Just 5 minutes of me rambling about what I got. The camera gets fuzzy....things go sideways. I got mascara clumpy stuff on my face but its all in good fun.

Oh...and I stumble over people's names, go on tangents and am basically a hot mess.
So yeah....you've been warned. LOL!

Enjoy and lemme know what you think.

Peace and Hollywood Blvd.
