OPI Gwen Stefani nail polish Collection

When I first heard about OPI doing a collection with the iconic Gwen Stefani, I was all like…”What took so long?” I mean, honestly…she should have had her own collection a long time ago, am I right? I actually had to sit down and explain who No Doubt was to my coworker’s little sister the other day and uh…I felt old. No Doubt rocked my high school years. I played Rock Steady daily. Love.Angel.Music.Baby gave me life. Gwen is my girl and when I did cartwheels (lol, not really tho) when press samples of this 7-piece collection landed in my mailbox.

OPI Gwen Stefani collection

Let’s do a quick overview of these babies…

OPI I Sing In Color nail polish

I Sing In Color is a dark and vampy red. And even in the dark, it still looks red which is a big deal in my book. It reminds me a lot of Cult Nails’ Lamestain and it is just as sweet in that it doesn’t bleed into my cuticles. LOVE!

OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby nail polish

Love.Angel.Music.Baby is a gold matte with a satin-y formula and lemme tell you, I’ve never been a fan of golds but this one is goooorgeous. I’ve always been a fan of OPI’s satin formula. They do it beautifully. I’ve been meaning to do a look with this gold and black. Can you imagine how gorgeous that would be?

OPI Hey Baby nail polish

Hey Baby is a bright pink creme and there really isn’t much to say about this this one. You know how I feel about pinks. They are all starting to look the same at this point….

OPI In True Stefani Fashion

In True Stefani Fashion is a silver glitter with a nice amount of holographic glitter dumped in. I layered it over Hey Baby and it adds a nice little sparkle. It’s just an average glitter, though. Definitely something that most nail polish lovers probably already own.

OPI 4 In The Morning nail polish

4 In The Morning is a black satin. This has been done before but as I’ve mentioned, no one does this satin nail polish formula like OPI. This is such a perfect fit for Gwen’s collection. It’s smooth, sexy and applies like a dream.

This collection also features Push and Shove, a silver chrome and Over & Over A-Gwen, a red creme. Push and Shove comes in a set with a base coat and the silver chrome. It’s a beautiful chrome but somehow I found the lasting power to be only so so. And we all know OPI does reds beautifully so Over & Over A-Gwen is just fantastic.

I love everything about Gwen so I would have loved more umph in this collection. I do like the use of various texture and formulas and the shade ranges are nice, but I don’t know…this is Gwen we’re talking about. I need some more shock factor!

This collection is currently available anywhere OPI is sold. I’ve spotted every shade at Ulta for $9. Push and Shove goes for $14.99 because it wants to be all fancy and whatnot.

Any Gwen lovers out there? What do you think? Did this collection do her justice?

Mariah Carey Holiday Nail Polish Collection, Part I

I am in full blown Christmas mode. I am ready to put up the tree, roast some chestnuts by an open fire, and spread all types of happiness any way I can. Thanks to the brilliant minds at OPI, I can spread my joy by having beautiful nails. This season OPI has launched 18 Limited Edition Holiday Nail Lacquers. Inspired by Mariah Carey, this holiday collection includes reds, burgundy, glitters and the amazing liquid sand collection. I received this collection to review and was excited to polish my nails!

OPI Mariah Carey Holiday

*** Disclaimer I am not the perfect polish painter (say that 7 times fast) like my big sissy so bear with me. I am getting there though, so sorry in advance if you see some mistakes.***

OPI In My Santa Suit

In My Santa Suit is the perfect red for the holiday season. It is shiny and bold and really gives you that Christmas feeling. This color is amazingly shiny even without a top coat.

OPI Cute Little Vixen

Cute Little Vixen is a sexy violet that will go great with anything outfit you are wearing this season.

OPI All I Want

All I Want For Christmas ( Is OPI) is just a basic red. Nothing to write Santa about, but if you are looking for a good red that you can wear all year this will be great for you.

OPI Warm Me Up

Warm Me Up is one of the darker colors of the collection, but it is one of my favorites. This brown polish has a little hint of silver in it spice up a usually boring color.

OPI Visions of Love

Visions of Love is probably my favorite polish of all time. It is a rich burgundy that is very mature and sexy. It looks more of an Oxford Blood when you first put it on, but after it dries turns into that burgundy I ended up liking it so much that I wore it for the entire week.

OPI Underneath the Mistletoe

Underneath The Mistletoe is a deep red with a kiss of sparkle it give you that extra umph that every outfit needs during the holiday season.

OPI Sleigh Ride For Two

Sleigh Ride For Two is a savory plum polish that is absolutely gorgeous. This color is has a nice shimmer to it that has a nice subtle sparkle.

OPI I Snow You Love Me

I Snow You Love Me is a super fun polish. It adds a little something extra to any polish that you want people to notice. I put it over Sleigh Ride For Two and loved the results. It was a little difficult to get the sequins to lay down so I suggest using a toothpick to get the sequins to lay down.

OPI Ski Slope Sweetie

Ski Slope Sweetie is a lovely pearl polish. It reminds of the popular polish in the 90s cotton candy, but not as thick. You will definitely need to put more than one coat to get a really good I did two, but would put an extra just for good measure.

OPI Wondrous Star

Wondrous Star is a funky polish. Funky in a good way it really adds some spunk to your nails while still giving you a glamorous gold shimmer.

If none these 10 polishes have caught your eye, stay tuned for the rest of the OPI Mariah Carey Limited Edition Holiday Nail Lacquers collection. This collection is available at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCP Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each nail lacquer.

Don’t forget to send me your tips on how you get your nails perfectly polished so I can become an expert like my sissy!

Zoya Satins nail polish collection

I’m glad I swatched this collection before  all of my nails went and broke on me. Figures. When I make very little effort to take care of my nails, they do just fine. But the second I want polish them on a regular, they all break on me. Totally a first world problem, I know, but it sucks. This collection, however…doesn’t suck and I was so grateful to get a press sample of it.

Zoya Satins Collection

Very appropriate shades for a winter collection, right?

Zoya Claudine

Claudine is a striking dark meteorite gray metallic. Applying this baby was a dream and I achieved full opacity with only one coat. And it’s such a stunning color. I’ve seen gray metallics before but never one that has such a beautiful and shimmery finish.

Zoya Channing

Channing is a coppery red metallic and something tells me that one of my favorite fashion bloggers, Channing in the City, would love this shade. When I think of Thanksgiving and fall, a shade like this comes to mind. Very appropriate for the season!

Zoya Mason

Mason is an exciting red violet or “Fandango Pink” metallic. Don’t ask me what Fandango Pink is. I’m far too lazy to Google it, but honey, what a beautiful shade! I don’t get too excited over pinks but this is the kind of pink that I can roll with.

Zoya Maria-Luisa

Maria-Luisa is a pretty gold cellophane accent topper. Of course, this shade is intended to be layered over another nail polish color. I applied it over Mason and it’s just so pretty!

Zoya Giovanna

Giovanna totally photographed somewhat off (my camera sucks at really capturing teal-ish shades) but this emerald green metallic is deep, rich and awesome. It also stains the nails so be sure to use a base with this one.

Zoya Neve

Neve is a sapphire blue metallic and at one glance it looks blue and at another, it looks like a sparkling purple. Such a pretty shade. My mother, being the purple lover that she is, would looooove this one.

Another winner from Zoya. I don’t have any complaints. Each nail polish applied beautifully and I’m loving the unexpected shades. You can snag this nail polish collection from Zoya.com for $48 for the entire collection or $8 for each polish. Check out my review of the Cashmere collection, the other collection that launched with the Satins collection.

OPI Limited Edition MISS UNIVERSE nail polish collection

Back in September (how is it already November???) OPI released a small collection of 3 polishes showing love to the Miss. Universe pageant. Each polish came with an adorable complementary bejeweled crown ring. Which is just the perfect touch, darling. I received these for review and while they aren’t terrible unique, they are still stunning to look at.

OPI MISS UNIVERSE nail polish collection

Even on my nubs.

OPI I’m Feeling Sashy

I’m Feeling Sashy is a dusty purple and OPI does a great job at producing creamy muted purples like these. It reminds me a lot of Parlez-vous OPI, a very popular shade from OPI from back in the day.

OPI Miss You-niverse

Miss You-niverse is a deep black plum that looks almost black. It’ll make for a great Fall color and it’s just screaming to to be topped off with a shimmery or glitter top coat.

OPI The Gown Needs A Crown

The Gown Needs A Crown is a textured matte platinum. We’ve seen the satin finish from OPI before and I’ve always been a fan of it. I loooove this polish so hard. The smoothness of the polish just looks stunning. It’s sheer perfection!

OPI MISS UNIVERSE collection

I applied 3 coats for each polish and didn’t have any problems with them. If you’re loving any of these you better hop to it and snag them with the quickness. I’ve spotted them at ULTA but I’m not sure how long they’ll last!

Zoya Cashmeres Collection

It’s about to be a Zoya marathon around here for the next few weeks. After this collection, I have 2 more collections to review and I’m not even mad about it. Zoya has been doing some pretty awesome thangs in the nail polish world and I’m just honored to be able to get the chance to share it with y’all. I got this collection to review and Cashmeres is just well…

Zoya Cashmeres

…very lovely indeed.

Zoya Flynn

Flynn is a lush camel brown nude cream and well er uh…I’m just not a fan of how these kind of shades look me. They look like “too light” foundation. In fact, I think the only way I could successfully pull this off is with some glitter thrown on top. And said glitter needs to be a reallllly pretty glitter.

Zoya Sailor

Sailor is a classic dark navy cream. I can’t even begin to explain how much I loooove this polish. Yes, there are plenty of navy blues out there but Zoya does creams beautifully and Sailor is just sheer perfection.

Zoya Pepper

Pepper is a brick red cream and dang, this is a gorgeous. Yeah yeah, I know if you’ve seen one red you’ve seen them all but I love the smokiness of this one. It’s stunning!

Zoya Hunter

Hunter is a dark sea green cream and no one does luscious greens like Zoya. This is such a rich and luscious green.

Zoya Louise

Louise is a rich chocolate brown and it’s another color that I’m on the fence about. I definitely like it more than Flynn but I never know if brown polishes flatter me or make my nails look dirty.

Zoya Livingston

Livingston is a lush autumn red that is THEE perfect red for the season. I’ve got plenty of reds but this one is just perfect.

Bravo Zoya! What a stunning and season-appropriate collection. I love the uniqueness of the shades Louise and Flynn. But for my not so adventurous nail polish wearers, there’s Pepper and Livingston. You can snag the entire collection from Zoya.com for $48 or you can get each polish for $8 a pop.

Which polishes are your faves?

Zoya Zenith nail polish collection

I can’t believe that I am already talking about Winter 2013 nail polish collections. How is this even possible? Sounds crazy cliché but dang…time flies. I’ve actually got a ton of Zoya nail polish collections that I’ll be cranking out in the next few weeks and Zenith sparked my interest the most. I got this collection for a review and really it was that stunning blue holographic nail polish that had me swooning at first glance…

Zoya Zenith nail polish collection

You see it, don’t you?

Zoya Seraphina

Seraphina is a full-coverage, polaris silver metallic and as much as I want to love it, it’s pretty blah for Zoya. I know every color can’t be spectacular but I don’t know, Seraphina, you don’t seem to be as fabulous as your siblings here.

Zoya Payton

Payton is a galactic cranberry with holographic glitter and yassss, now we’re getting somewhere. This is what I’m talking about. Zoya does holographic nail polishes beautifully. Payton is just stunning and I love how dynamic it looks without a top coat.

Zoya Mosheen

Mosheen is an astro ice blue topper that works well on top of other nail polishes, of course. So I’m not madly in love with super sheer polishes but I kinda dig how this icy bar glitter looks on its own.

Zoya Belinda

Belinda is a gorgeous cosmic purple/blue metallic that beautifully changes shades when the light hits it. This is an interesting shade from Zoya. I don’t think I’ve seen them do a shade like this so this was a nice surprise to see in their line-up.

Zoya Cassedy

Cassedy is a celestial pewter metallic and man, isn’t that quite the description? Pretty dead on, if you ask me. At first glance Cassedy looks like a darkened grey but if you look closer, it comes off as a deep grey with just a hint of shimmery army green.

Zoya Dream

Dream is my favorite shade of the bunch because well, look at it! This deep space blue with holographic glitter can’t get any better. It applies like a dream (hehe, see what I did there?) and I just love how bright and bold this polish is with only 2 coats. It’s gorgeous!

Application of these polishes was ridiculously easy. I found it so refreshing to see a winter collection that didn’t have any traditional shades in it. Way to go, Zoya! Of course Dream and Payton are my favorites but I love that the collection has a little somethin’ for everyone.

The Zenith collection is available for purchase at Zoya.com for $8 a bottle or you can get the entire collection for $48.

Cult Nails All Access collection

I’m a loser for not doing a post on The Makeup Show Orlando yet. I know, I know. I’m on a serious budget these days so this collection of nail polishes was the only thing I purchased from the Show. Crazy, right? Usually I empty my pockets like mad. Look at that… I’m growing up. Ha!

I helped Maria of Cult Nails set up the day before the show and I had the chance to play around with the collection All Access. I fell in love. And for a good reason. I mean look…

Cult Nails All Access

*squeals*

Cult Nails Grunge

I knew I would love Grunge before I even swatched it. Maria was wearing this color on her nails and I couldn’t stop eyeing it. It’s described as a perfect military green creme and I couldn’t agree more. It has enough gray in it to where it doesn’t look like a Spring-y shade. It’s just perfect.

Cult Nails Feedback

Feedback contains soft gold, pink, and orange mylar flakes and I found it to be more sparkle-y than most topcoats with flakes. I love how it looks over Grunge. It looks pretty awesome over Lamestain too.

And speaking of Lamestain…

Cult Nails Lamestain

This is by far my favorite polish out of the entire collection. I mean, honestly… This rich, deep, ox blood creme is beyond anything that I’ve ever seen and I love that it doesn’t look black. I’ve been rocking it for a good week now and have no intentions of removing it.

Cult Nails Wack Slacks

‘elloooo Wack Slacks. There ain’t nothin’ like a gorgeous purple/blue nail polish (especially a creme) and Wack Slacks just makes me happy. It’s more blue than purple and applies like a dream.

Cult Nails Disillusion

Disillusion caught me by surprise! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a polish like this. Hot pink mylar shreds are sunken in a black jelly polish? Wow! It is opaque at 2 coats but really shines with 3 coats. I can’t wait to see how this looks over Cult Nails’ black nail polish.

Impressive, right? The pre-order for the collection has already passed but you can buy the polishes individually for $12 at CultNails.com.

OPI San Francisco collection, part II

I’m back with the rest of the gorgeous nail polishes from OPI’s San Francisco nail polish collection. The first half of the collection is here. The second half is full of gorgeous pinks and reds. See…

OPI San Francisco

Goooorgeous!

OPI First Date at the Golden Gate

First Date at the Golden Gate is a really pretty ruby. It wouldn’t be an OPI collection without a stunning red.

OPI In the Cable Car-Pool Lane

In the Cable Car-Pool Lane is lovely. Nothing says fall like a rich and creamy burgundy. This one is flawless. I applied 2 coats of it and I probably should have applied a third.

OPI I Knead Sour-Dough

I Knead Sour-Dough is a Grandma-y shade with glam. It’s a nice rosy brown with a gorgeous hot pink shimmer. I didn’t expect to like this so much but wow. It’s very unexpected.

OPI Embarca-Dare Ya!

Embarca-Dare Ya! is a shimmery magenta. It isn’t anything special but that doesn’t make it any less pretty.

OPI Lost on Lombard

Lost on Lombard is a seasonly appropriate garnet.

OPI It’s All San Andreas’s Fault

It’s All San Andreas’s Fault is a mauve. It’s one of OPI’s Liquid Sands and I think it’s one of the best Liquid Sands in terms of quality. I’m not a fan of the shade but it’s certainly “interesting”.

OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf!

Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! is indeed one long and annoying name. Ha! But other than that, it’s a rich and bright blue. This Liquid Sand requires very thin strokes but I have a heavy hand and applying thin strokes are never easy for me.

OPI Alcatraz…Rocks

Alcatraz…Rocks is a blue-ish gray Liquid Sands that doesn’t look as “sandy” as the other Liquid Sands in this collection.

The entire collection…

OPI San Francisco

OPI San Francisco

This collection is currently available anywhere OPI products are sold. You can snag ‘em for about $9 a bottle.

Which one are you lovin’?
