Amor de Lacquer: OPI The Amazing Spider-man collection

In celebration of Sony Picture’s The Amazing Spider-man, OPI is gracing us with a Spiderman collection. The film hits theaters nationwide in 3D on July 3, 2012. I’m pretty sure Esposo will be dragging me along to see it. Not that I’m complaining. I really enjoy comic-book inspired action films even though I’ve never read the actual comic books. This collection ain’t what I pictured in my head when I first heard about a Spider-man collection. Which, I suppose, is a good and bad thing.

Number One Nemesis is a greenish olive-y looking grey. It’s between a foil and glass fleck and does quite the shimmer action when it hits the light.

Call Me Gwen-Ever is a creamy and dusty orange. It’s attractive but I’ve seen plenty of oranges like this. And it’s such an interesting shade to have a Spider-man nail polish collection. Or is it just me?

Into The Night is a midnight blue. Very Spider-man-ish. It’s a frost so application can be tricky but a good 2 even coats should set it straight.

Just Spotted The Lizard is a probably one of the few duochrome polishes that I own. We’re seeing dupes of this shade all over and while I don’t own any others, I’m hearing that OPI’s version is the best. Depending on where you look, it can look olive green and then gold. It changes at every angle. It’s a pretty cool polish but I’m not sure I’m in love with how it looks on me.

Your Web Or Mine? is a frosty Grandma pink. This is my least favorite of the bunch. It’s very safe for a Spider-man collection. Meh. No me gusta.

My Boyfriend Scales Walls is white but it has a bit of a grey hue to it. I love it! Then again, I absolutely love white polishes. Even if they are a pain to apply. Don’t mind my cuticles here. Too much swatching ‘n removing can be drying yo.

Shatter the Scales is a dark green-y metallic crackle. It’s hard for me to apply crackles with my nail beds being extra wide and long but hereeee we go…

Shatter the Scales over My Boyfriend Scales Walls

Shatter the Scales over Call Me Gwen-ever

Very Miami Hurricanes, uh?

Must Haves
-Call Me Gwen-ever. It’s an awesome orange that applies beautifully. If you don’t have anything like this in your collection, you should scoop this one up.
-Just Spotted the Lizard. I reckon this will be the most popular shade of the bunch.
-My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Such an interesting grey-ish white.

Formula-wise these polishes were excellent. The crackle was a bit on the thick side but that’s nothing out of the ordinary. Many crackles are. This doesn’t feel like a Spider-man collection. The polish names and shades are pretty random and don’t evoke the kind of excitement the way a Spider-man nail polish collection should. And it’s kinda crazy that there isn’t a red polish up in here. I’ve got a thousand red polishes like everyone else but a metallic red with some shimmer would totally fit in a Spider-man collection.

Whatcha think about this collection? Any Spider-man fans in the house?

Amor de Lacquer: Zoya Beach collection

If you haven’t seen the fierceness that is Zoya’s Surf collection, you can check it out here. The faternal twin to that collection is Beach and this collection mimics Beach but the finishes in Surf are creamier. If you’re a fan of bright creams, girlfriend, you’re going to love this collection.

Shelby is a soft pinky pink cream. There’s nothing terribly unique about this color but it fits beautifully with all of the other kids in this collection.

Arizona is a soft coral orange cream and it reminds me of a orange float. Please tell me you’ve had those. It’s a combination of orange soda and vanilla ice cream and giiiiirl, you haven’t lived until you’ve had one. Arizona is just as creamy and divine.

Lara is a such a vivid cerise pink cream and bay bayyyy, this is such a gorgeous pink. Is it on my toes right now? You betta believe it!

Reagan is a deep cerise pink cream and it’s a my second favorite pink of the bunch. It’s got a bit of purple to it and it’s all berry-tastic and whatnot.

Tracie is a sea grass metallic and it’s an interesting foil. I had to tweak the color a bit to make it look accurate. It’s not my favorite green but it’s pretty enough.

Wednesday is a soft aqua cream that makes photographing it weird. I wore this polish on a Tuesday a few weeks ago and felt like such a boss. Because wouldn’t it make sense to only wear Wednesday on Wednesday? Haaaa!

Crazy how my iPhone can take a better picture of Wednesday than my super duper DSLR can. Womp.

Must Haves
-Arizona. Because it has less calories than an orange float. Ha!!
-Lara. Such a gorgeous pink (or pank if you’re from the South) it is.

Formula-wise these polishes are good. Because they’re creams, you’ll have to put a little work into them but overall they didn’t give me any problems. I used 2 coats for each polish. I dig Zoya’s Surf collection more and I was a little annoyed that this collection had THREE pinks but there are some winners so I’m not complaining. I’d like a little more shock value from Zoya though. Hopefully those Fall collections should be better.

How you feelin’ about this collection?

Amor de Lacquer: Wet ‘n Wild MegaLast nail colors

These are just a few of Wet ‘n Wild’s MegaLast nail polishes in their new bottles. They also have wider brushes (wooo hooo!) but I’ll talk more about those at the foot of the post. Let’s bring on the polish p0rn!

Under Your Spell is such a pretty a beautiful ahd shimmery burgundy. It’s all vampy and gorge.

I Need A Refresh-mint is a nice and creamy pale blue. It’s got a bit more green to it but of course the Nikon wouldn’t pick it up.

Undercover is a such a Grandma shade but if you’re into rosy pinks, this isn’t a bad one.

I Red A Good Book is a fire-engine red that if you looooove reds, you’ll love. These are my kind of reds. This classic and just goooorgeous.

Club Havana is all smudged up but ignore that middle finger, mkay? It’s an orange-y coral that will look stunning with some glitter thrown on top.

Disturbia is a vampy purple with minimal shimmer. It’s a vampy purple that actually LOOKS purple – and that’s rare.

Formula-wise these polishes are niiiiiice. I love the wide brush but I did run into a problem with a few of them. Some of the “hairs” were cut unevenly and so it made applying tricky. In ended up having to cut a few with cuticle scissors just to apply with an even finish. So no, not the end of the world but it’s worth mentioning if you’ve got your eyes on these. I used 2 coats of polish for each polish. You can scoop ‘em up for $1.99 a pop. Not bad, uh?

Amor de Lacquer: Milani Fast Speed Dry polishes

Milani is hookin’ us nail polish with some niiiiice polishes from their Fast Speedy Dry department and I couldn’t be happier. I have become such the nail polish addict these days. I could very well morph Clumps into a nail polish blog but I love mascara too much. And blush. And eye shadow. And skincare. So yeah. Clumps will stay a BEAUTY blog but hope you don’t mind the influx of nail polish posts. Something tells me you don’t. 8)

And ‘scuse the left/right hand pics. From now on, my right hand be the only one that makes its appearance for nail polish swatches. Woot!

White On The Spot is just…white. Nothing fancy here. It’s difficult to work with like most white nail polishes. It’s streaky but a third coat should even it out. The formula was a little watery for me – hence the sipping in my cuticles.

Yellow Whiz is what I would call a bright buttercream. I love just about all yellow polishes that I come across and this one is no different.

Fast Fuchsia Pink is a bright raspberry that looks beautiful. It’s creamy and wonderful and is my ideal kind of pink. With my hating the color pink and all, the ones that have blue undertones are the only ones that I can deal with looking at for more than 2 minutes.

Violet Dash is a creamy lilac that would photograph nicely for me. Crazy how natural lighting can make some colors (like blues, greens and purple) act so strangely for my camera.

In real life, Purple looks like this:

Hot Pink Frenzy is a coral mixed with magenta. Such a pretty summer pedicure color this polish will be. I loooove it!

Jiffy Orange is a bright tangerine. It’s spunky, bright and perfect for the season!.

Rapid Cherry is just a blue-toned red.

Black Swift is a rich and pigmented black.

While these polishes aren’t terribly unique, they are perfect additions to Milani’s polish line-up. I wouldn’t say that the formula dries quickly though. Although I applied 3 coats for each polish, I waited a few minutes after applying the the first to see how quickly they tried and nope…it wasn’t fast. But no biggie there. I apply fast drying top coats anyway. The overall formula for these was pretty thick so your best bet is to take your time when applying these.

You can scoop ‘em up from your drugstore and Milani.com for $4.99

Amor de Lacquer: Zoya Surf collection

Summer has totally surpassed Spring here in Orlando, Florida and I couldn’t be happier. Ask me that when the sweltering weather gets here and I may renege that I ever made this statement. Ha! This collection includes 6 gorgeous polishes with foil metallic finishes.

Mryta is medium-dark orange with lighter orange shimmer that reaches an opaque finish with 2 coats. This was my favorite of the bunch. I absolutely love orange nail polishes and so one with a foil finish just brings me so much joy. And I know what you’re thinking but no, this doesn’t look like China Glaze’s Riveting. Riveting is much brighter.

Kimber is a coral-red with warm orange-gold shimmer and of course it’s my second favorite. This baby is a beaut. It’s like a silvery and bright terracotta. It looks stunning and if you don’t get any other polish from this collection, this is definitely the one you’re going to want to get.

Meg was probably named after the daughter from Family Guy but that’s neither here nor there. 8) This warm, lightened grassy green with chartreuse shimmer photographed so funky that I had to do some editing to show you its true color – so please excuse the pink in my fingers. This polish reminds me of money, baby. So of course I like it. Woot!

Zuza is blue-based aqua with silver shimmer and it’s quite reminiscent of the waters in the Bahamas. I’d love it more if it didn’t stain the nails. This is the case with many polishes of this hue. Even with a base, they tend to stain. Which is totally unfortunate because I adore beautiful aqua shades like Zuza. The first pic is of Zuzu after some doctoring up.

Carly is a rich eggplant purple with strong magenta-red undertones and magenta-pink and violet shimmer and whoa, how refreshing is it to see shades like this in summer collections? I love, I love, I looooove!

Rory is a a silver-shimmered cotton candy pink with strong blue undertones and she’s pretty just now my style. You know…with her being pink ‘an all. My crazy cam is giving her more “purple” but nope, she pink.

Must Have’s:
-Mryta: So gorge!
-Kimber: For the ultimate pedi color this summer!
-Carly: Hot stuff!

I received an opaque finish after 2 coats for each polish. I think Zoya did an awesome job with this collection. There’s a little bit of something for everyone.

Whatcha think? See any you like? You can grab these polishes for $8 a pop or the entire collection for $48 at Zoya.com.

Amor de Lacquer: OPI New York City Ballet SoftShades

Well, well, welllll…isn’t this refreshing? While corals, neons and glitters are dominating the nail scene this spring, OPI is hookin’ us with with softer shades. I’m not hatin’ on this collection, y’all. I love loud colors like most but I also really enjoy wearing soft shades every now and then. Especially when they give me an opaque finish with no more than 3 coats. Such was the case with these. Weeee!!

According to OPI, this collection was ‘inspired by the New York City Ballet (NYCB), one of the world’s premiere dance companies’. Very cute. Oh! And this is also the debut of my newly shaped nails. Some of my older nail polish posts will sport the square look but the newer posts will be showing the oval look. This is such a big deal for me since I haven’t changed my nail shape since uh….ever. 8)

Care To Danse? is a creamy lilac. In fact, it’s so faint that it almost looks pink. It definitely looks more “lilac” in the bottle.

Barre My Soul is a sheer beige and it gives the the perfect “naked” look for nails. This is the kind of nail polish I’d wear on a job interview.

You Callin’ Me A Lyre? is an ascending pink that would be perfect for an American manicure. Not that I’d wear one because American (and French) manicures are like soooooo 1990’s. Agree or disagree?

My Pointe Exactly is a gorgeous sheer gray that looks blue in the bottle and on my nails. It’s a strange shade for a sheer but somehow it works.

Don’t Touch My Tutu! is the one shade that I’d wear the most often. I just love how creamy this white is. It’s stunning and classy and everything I’d want from a sheer white cream.

Pirouette My Whistle is a silver sparkle that looks okay with 3 coats but is probably better layered over a polish. My nails are stained so it doesn’t look the best solo.

Pirouette My Whistle over Care to Danse?

Must Have’s:
-You Callin’ Me A Lyre?: I could wear this one everyday.
-My Pointe Exactly: There is something so pleasantly unusual about this one….
-Don’t Touch My Tutu: Ooooh, how wonderful is this white creme?

I was a little nervous when I saw the promo for this collection. While I like sheer polishes, a lot of ‘em are a pain to deal with because it’s hard to get them to apply to an opaque finish. Soooo not the case with these kids. I applied 3 coats for each polish and they were all completely opaque. Fan-freaking-tastic. I love love looooove these.

Are you a fan of sheer polishes or not so much?

Amor de Lacquer: Wet ‘n Wild Spoiled polishes – only $1.99 a pop

Have y’all seen Wet ‘n Wild’s Spoiled collection in your local Walgreens? OMGGG….as if I needed another reason to love Wet ‘n Wild polishes. I am showcasing just 8 here but there are literally like…a hundred of ‘em. And they are only $1.99. I knowwwww. Okay, I’ll shut up and get to postin’.

Did I Dye It Too Blonde? is a neon yellow. Well, obviously, right? It’s a looooot brighter than this in real life. I applied 3 coats and had such a hard time with getting an opaque finish. Such is the case with most neon polishes. Still. I really really like this. Your best bet for getting opacity from neon polishes is to use a white polish as a base.

Shrimp On the Barbie is such a Spring-y shade. It isn’t the most unique color in the world, but the gold shimmer in the salmon pink polish makes it funny and girly.

I’m Ba-roque Bahahaaaa! Funniest name ever. Very witty, Wet ‘n Wild. This polish is a brown with a ton of silver shimmer all about. I actually really like this. I’ve seen a lot of brown polishes but never one with this much personality. It’s gorge! Oh, and excuse the remnants of Did I Dye It Too Blonde?. Apparently removing neon polish is trickier than I thought.

Trust Fund Baby is a red blue and gold glitter. Well, not really glitter but more of folded hexagon specs…thingies. Yeah. I never know what to call these. It’s a tricky glitter in that if  have to apply a good 2 coats because the brush won’t pick up enough specs the first go ’round. I layered Trust Fund Baby over Shrimp On the Barbie.

Plenty of Fish In The Sea looks blue but it is more on the green side. Ya’ll already know how loco my camera is when it comes to photographing blue/green shades. It has some shimmer to it but it’s subtle.

Pet My Peacock is a teal, gold and blue chunky glitter.

Tip Your Waitress is a hooooot neon pink. I mean, it’s a “in yo face” kind of pink. This is really the only kind of pinks I like. It dries between a matte and glossy finish. Not quite gel-like though.

Shuffle The Deck is a silver, red and gray chunky glitter.

Since there are a billion of these (haha, I’m kidding – more like a few dozen), you’ve got a nice selection to choose from. This brand reminds me a lot of Sinful Colors. They are priced the same and have great formulas. I used 3 coats for each polish and find them to be really nice to work with. My favorite thing about ‘em? The wide brush. Yep. Since I’ve got wide nail beds those bigger brushes are definitely up my alley.

See any your like? Have you spotted these polishes in your neck of the woods?

Amor de Lacquer: Nicole by O.P.I. Kardashian Kolors Spring collection

Ooooh la laaaa, pretty new polishes from the Kardashian Kolors line. There are 7 of these and they look to be perfect for Spring and Summer. I spy a vampy and while vampy shades are typically worn around the Fall and Winter seasons, why says you can’t rock ‘em in April? Woot! Oh, and I know nothing about the Kardashian clan, y’all. I’m not a fan of much reality TV. I like before’s and after’s but following peoples’ lives is quite the snooze fest to me. But anywhoovers, let’s get on with the polishes.

Paparazzi Don’t Preach is a pinky peach that has more rose to it than my camera is showing you. I actually really like it. I don’t have anything like this in my collection so this color was quite the treat. It pops nicely against my skin, uh? It took a good 3 coats for this polish to apply with an opaque finish.

Ladies In The Limelight is a yellow-lime that is quite reminiscent of others shades. It’s not as green as OPI’s Who The Shrek Are You and since OPI’s Did It On ‘Em is a dead ringer for Who The Shrek Are You, it isn’t quite a dupe for Ladies In The Limelight either. I like this one better. It’s brighter and better and doesn’t look like barf. Which is always a good thing. Woot!

One Big Happy Fame-ily is a lavender shimmer and it’s all dainty and girly. I wasn’t head over heels in love with this shade but it’s pretty enough.

Back To Reality T.V. is a periwinkle with hot pink shimmer. It is awesooooome. I can’t put my finger on the Zoya polish it reminds me of, but man, this baby is pretty. If I wasn’t obsessed with polishing my nails daily, I could see myself rolling with this one for a while.

Strike A Pose is one bright orange-y coral. It’s gorgeous! It’s soooooo bright. Which is good thing considering I just adore bright colors on my toes. This is definitely my favorite of the bunch.

Our Fuchsia’s Lookin’ Bright has the cutest name ever. It’s a pretty pink. Nothing you probably haven’t seen before but it’s the norm to have a pink in Spring collections. I’m just glad this one is brighter than most.

Smile for the Glam-era is a deep and rich plum with subtle shimmer. I actually wore this one TWICE this week just because I didn’t want to take it off. I love the idea of wearing vampy polishes in “not vampy polish” season. And while I applied 3 coats, this baby was ready for a top coat after the 2nd coat. I love how opaque it is.

Must Have’s:
-Paparazzi Don’t Preach: Don’t knock this shade yo. It is amaziiiiiing. Especially for days when you want a lil’ something without overdoing it.
-Back To Reality T.V. Just because it’s sooooo unique.
-Strike A Pose. This shade is popppppiiiiin’!

I applied 3 coats for each of these polishes and didn’t use a top coat. I’m impressed. While some of the shades are repeats (i.e. Ladies In The Limelight and Our Fuchsia’s Lookin’ Bright), the others are nice and not so predictable for Spring. These go for $7.99 and they are exclusive to CVS locations nationwide.

See any you like?
