butter LONDON Colour Hardwear Nail Art Tool Kit

Butter London Nail Art Kit

Some of us are great writers. Others are great athletes. And then some of us are really good at nail art. I’ve mentioned a thousand times that I suck at the latter. And you know what? I’m totally okay with that. Luckily the fine folks at butter LONDON are making it easy for us not so creative folx to get our grooves on with some basic nail art skills. I recently received a press sample of their Colour Hardware Nail Art Took Kit and I can’t be more excited to try this baby out.

For one thing, how sweet is the packaging? Perfectly portable, this tin can of creative baubles and thangs is perfect for storing your new utensils be it at home or in your luggage for travel. Including is this kit is the following…

  • Dotting Tool: Double ended with two different sized dots. Create dot artwork-like polka dots and leopard prints.

  • Clean Up Brush: Dip in nail lacquer remover and brush away imperfections. Brush away excess nail lacquer along the edge of the fingernail.

Butter London Colour Hardware Nail Art Tool Kit

Very cool, right? The most practical tool, I think is the Clean Up Brush because what nail polish lover doesn’t find that handy? My second favorite is the Dotting Tool because even if you are darn awful with nail art, chances are you can crank out a few dots with any problems. Shoot girl, if I can do it anyone can.

And they are also giving us a little manual in case we need to see actual pictures. Thank you bL!

Butter London Colour Hardware Art Tool Kit

This cute little kit goes for $30 at ULTA.com and I think it’s a sweet option for people like me who just want the basics. And it’s even better for those who are just starting out.

So what about you? Are you into nail art? Or would you rather stick to the many other skills that you’ve got?

Oh! And since we’re talking butter LONDON awesomeness, check out some of my favorite bL thangs…

*This post contains a press sample and affiliate links.

butter LONDON doesn’t just sell polishes. But you knew that…right?

So butter LONDON makes more than just nail polish. Did you know that? I knew but then I forgot. They do nail polishes so well that I’ve never really had to the desire to spend my money on any of their other products. Years ago I tried their lipgloss and it was so insanely fragranced that I vowed to never try any of their Lippys again.

Butter London

Well, that was forever and a day ago and I couldn’t NOT try these samples that I got in the mail. I’m no fool. bL has lips, cheeks and eye products but when you visit their site, you’ll see that it’s really the nail products that they display.

Butter LONDON Cosmetics

Not that I’m complain’. There’s a reason why I collect buttahs. But let’s take a closer look at some of their other beauties.

The Wink Eye Pencils are a lot like the eye pencils from many other brands. Nothing fancy but the formula is nice, smooth, build-able and it doesn’t budge. Like at all.

Butter LONDON Wink

My swatch of Cheerio (a gilded yellow shimmer) stayed put a few minutes after application. I don’t really know how to wear yellows well, but honey, I’ll be trying because this is gorgeous. It goes for $18.

Butter LONDON Cheerio

bL also has a nice selection of creamy eyeshadows. Okay, so honestly…I’ve never been a fan of these type of products. My lids are insanely oily and I have the toughest time getting these creamy products to adhere. Still, Sun Kiss WINK Cream Eye Shadow is nice and muted gold that will complement many skin tones. It also goes for $18. And back to the Lippys…

Butter LONDON Lippy

GOOD NEWS! They don’t smell like flowers on speed anymore. Yay! The subtle whiff of vanilla didn’t trigger a headache and all was well. It’s a thick gloss and like many sheerer glosses like this, the color in the tube does not translate on your lips.

Butter LONDON Lippy Twee

Yeah. I kinda hate when that happens. If the tube is pink, I want pink, bro! But hey, Twee is cool with me. The added moisturization kept my normally ashy lips in check and for that, I am grateful. Such awesomeness will run you $20. And then there’s Chuffed…

Butter LONDON Chuffed

I won’t spend too much time here because we already know how much I want bL to run for President, but yeah…this full coverage, shimmery bright orange is stunnning.

Overall, I think butter LONDON does well with cosmetics. The price points are a bit higher than I think they should be, but fans will appreciate the diverse colors, great formulas and nice collections that they come out with.

Have you tried anything other than nail polish from buttah?

Pretty Polishes from butter LONDON

It’s going to be Nail Polish Week here on Clumps of Mascara because I have a ton of reviews that I need to crank them out before 2014. You don’t mind, do you? I know I’m not the only nail polish fanatic out there so I know a great heap of y’all are going to appreciate these.

And for those that are alike “Who cares about nail polish?” just push through with me, won’t you? Let’s talk about the awesome butter LONDON first. I’ve got a few of their pretties that I just couldn’t wait to show y’all. I received these for review and as I feel about all of my bLs, they are absolute perfection. Just look at Pitter Patter.

Butter London Pitter Patter

Pitter Patter nail polish

Described as a opaque aubergine shimmer Pitter Patter was designed just for the royal baby-to-be! I live under a British rock so I’m not sure what they named him but I think a purple like this is pretty fitting for a boy or a girl. At the time I don’t think they knew the gender of this sweet babelet. It’s a decent looking purple. Nothing super unique from bL but it’s nice enough.

Silly Billy nail polish

Butter London Silly Billy

Silly Billy is my kind of shade. Then again I love me some orange nail polish. Especially an opaque, fire orange crème like this one. It applies beautifully in 2 coats but an extra 3rd coat really makes it come alive.

Lillibet's Jubilee nail polish

Butter London Lillibet's Jubilee

Lillibet’s Jubilee is a pretty lavender metallic foil fit for a queen. No really. This shade was made for the Queen in honor of her holding the throne for 60 years. It’s not terrible but I don’t know, I think I would have picked more of a flashier color for the Queen. After all, she’s pretty colorful and has been seen wearing many different shades. A foil? Well, I don’t know if that does her much justice.

Still, these are butter LONDON polishes which means they are perfect in every way possible. You can grab these from Butter London’s website and they are sold at Ulta and sometimes select department stores. Which one is your fave?

Pretty Polishes: butter LONDON for Goop.com

It’s been a quick lil’ minute since butter LONDON has popped up on Clumps of Mascara. But don’t think it’s because I’ve fallen out of love with the brand. Because I haven’t. I am still ever so obsessed with bL’s. Yep. I still hoard them and place them on the “elite nail polish rack”. I was recently sent these little darlings and of course I couldn’t wait to share them with y’all.

Tea & Toast is the perfect name for this polish! I’m not sure I like how this peanut buttery of a shade looks on me but it’s the closest polish I’ve ever come across that goes with the “mannequin nails” look.

DSC_7296

Big Smoke is a metallic navy blue with tons of personality. Outside of blueberry creme shades, this is my second favorite kind of blue polish to wear. It is flattering on just about everyone.

Thames has been a part of my collection for quite some time and seeing her again reminded me why I fell in love with her in the first place. She is definitely the green version of HRH but more than anything she’s an emerald green. She’s this year’s color of the year and if you don’t have any emerald green polishes yet, you may want to consider getting this one.

These babies can be scooped up at butterLONDON.com but they are also sold as trios on Goop.com for $40. That’s a steal! If you’ve been itchin’ to get that bL fix under control, I’d hop on over to Goop.

Whatcha think? How do you feel about Tea & Toast on my complexion? Yay or nay?

3 pretty babies from butter LONDON’s Holiday nail polish collection

DSC_4459

My nails have been crazy funky wonky the past few weeks and they were unavailable for pretty swatches but I still wanted to showcase  3 of  the 5 polishes that butter LONDON is giving us for the holidays. And can I just say how excited I was to even see this collection? I didn’t expect to see another release before the new year. Woo hoo! Go bL!

DSC_4474

Scallywag is a full coverage, bright turquoise glitter with a clear base. I applied 2 coats to the nail wheel and that’s really all this polish needs. I’m not even sure how well it could work as a layering polish because it’s THAT opaque. Which is A-OK with me. Removal is gonna suck with a glitter like this, but man…is she not worth it?

DSC_4469

DSC_4479

Jack the Lad is an opaque, moss green shimmer with gold, turquoise and green micro glitter. It isn’t nearly as opaque as Scallywag and it’ll take 3 maybe even 4 coats to reach an opaque finish. It’s beautiful but it can be a bit streaky so patience in between coats is what this polish needs.

DSC_4471

DSC_4484

Scuppered is an opaque, copper shimmer infused with pink, gold and green glitter and it’s something quite to see. I’ve never seen a polish like this before. The consistency is just like Jack the Lad in that it requires a few coats.

The crew altogether…

Missing from this collection is Fairy Cakes, a silvery holographic glitter and Fiddlesticks, a raspberry magenta glitter. I adore glitters polishes so I think this is a perfect holiday collection. You’ve got the traditional red, green and silvery polishes but they have a nice glittery spin to them. Way to go, buttah!

Cost: $14/each

Where To Buy: Ulta, Ulta.com and butterlondon.com

Whatcha think, butter LONDON lovers? Is this not a fantastic holiday nail polish collection or what?

Amor de Lacquer: Butter LONDON Autumn/Winter collection

While some brands like to grace us with nail polish collections 5-10 times a year, we only get just a few from Butter LONDON. And it’s not really all that fair because I adore Butter LONDON and I’d love to get more polishes from there each year. But on a good note, them not coming out with collections every 5 seconds gives me enough time to snag up the polishes that I don’t already have from them. Yeah. I’m THAT obsessed with BL.

Anywhoovers, let’s play with their newest collex! It’s not your traditional Fall/Winter collection, but I can appreciate that. Sometimes the expected vampies and darker shades are just way too…expected.

Dodgy Barnett is a silver holographic that’s pretty groovy. It isn’t as holographic-y as many nail polish lovers would like but if you’re new to holographics, this may impress you. I found that 3 coats really made the holographic effect pop. The pop isn’t as prominent as many holographic grays but it’s still a nice surprise.

Trustafarian is another holographic. It’s just as bit on the sage/pistachio side and it’s just as captivating as Dodgy B. I actually found that Trustafarian gave more holographic spark than Dodgy.

Shag is a high-shine metallic in a warm orange-burgundy hue. This baby screams fall and it makes me want to roll into a pile of leaves and then head out to pick a pumpkin. Butter London usually knocks my feet off with the uniqueness of their shades but this one is just okay. It’s not my favorite but it’s still pretty.

Lovely Jubbly is a vibrant magenta nail lacquer flecked with red, blue and gold micro-particles. It’s a prettyful glitter that reaches an opaque finish with only two coats. On a good note, if you wanted to layer this over another polish, you could do so easily. It’s one versatile glittah with a lot of sparkle.

Gobsmacked only got 2 coats from me but a closer look reveals that I probably should have given that kid another coat. This charcoal grey glitter is quite reminiscent of several other grey glitters that I’ve seen around the way. I love how fine the glitte specks are as they make application smooth. Like buttah.

Overall: Most butter LONDON collections have me hyperventilating and stunned by their beauty. I didn’t get that reaction with this collection. There are some fantastic hits and I can appreciate the variety of formulas from glitters to holographics and shimmers. Most of the polishes in this collection are dupe-able and that’s so unlike Butter LONDON as many of their polishes are strikingly unique.

I still love my Butter LONDON and will continue to hoard their polishes. You can grab this collection at Ulta stores, Ulta.com and at ButterLONDON.com. Each bottle is $14 a pop.

Amor de Lacquer: Butter LONDON Heavy Medal Metallic Nail Lacquer Trio

There are only few nail polish brands that I brag about. And one of ‘em is butter LONDON. But for good reason. I love how “involved” the brand was with the Olympics. Granted they’re British and the 2012 Summer Olympics were held in London but still…they could have very well ignored  the games like many other beauty brands.

But nope. They had a “Spirit to the Games” flash sale AND launched a limited edition Olympic Medal Metallic Nail Lacquer Trio on QVC. Um….wow!!! And considering the Olympics ruled my life while it was on (I’m still in mourning, y’all…) this was major! The QVC-exclusive deal goes for $29.75 which is a crazy deal!

Check out the shades…

The Full Monty is an opaque light gold metallic. I always feel like metallics look a bit funny of me and The Full Monty proved that. At the same time, as much of a gold fan, I am NOT, I kinda dig this light gold. It’s delicate and powerful!

The Diamond Geezer is an opaque bright silver metallic and it’s your basic no frills silver nail polish. It isn’t as chrome-y as some that I’ve seen but it’s got enough POW to appeal to you if you love shimmery silvers polishes.

The Old Bill is an burnished copper metallic. I’m not sure if it compliments my skin tone the best but I LOVE this one. It applied like buttah and has a such a nice and smooth finish. It gives my nails such a clean look. I love it!

Overall: Like all butter LONDON polishes, these applied beautifully. I applied 3 coats for each polish and got incredible shine without the use of topcoats. And I just really love the notion behind these polishes. I’ve been regularly watching the Olympics for as long as I can remember and I love that I’ve got a little memory of the 2012 Games in my nail polish collex. Oh, bL..I could hug you guys for this.

Because it’s a limited edition collection, you’ll want to jump on it ASAP. It is currently on QVC.com and the QVC Item is #A229333. Hop to it!!

Meanwhile, I’ll be reliving the epic and legendary moves from gymnastics, track and field and swimming. Olympics, come back!!!!
