The NEW Clarisonic Aria. My wallet groans…

I have a love/hate relationships with Clarisonic. And I’m not ashamed to admit this either. We all know why I LOVE the brand. I’ve publicly bragged about them  more times than I can count. I’ve purchased the Mia, played with the Plus and swooned over the Mia 2’s newest colors. Any time I’m asked about my favorite skincare products, I tell folx to save their pennies and get a Clarisonic.

So how I can hate Clarisonic at the same time? Because these magicians keep coming out with MORE Clarisonics that I feel like I HAVE to purchase. And just how in the world do you justify having more than one Clarisonic? How? You can’t. And for that I both scoff and jump for joy every time I see a Clarisonic doused in a new shade. And in this case…an entirely new brush.

Her name is Aria. A beautiful name for such a beautiful device. These press photos don’t do her any justice but she’s a beaut. And she’s glossy. Glossy! That’s like a synonym for glitter. Beauty lovers love glossy and glittery packaging.

Check out some of the specs of Lady Aria herself…

  • three speeds make for a variety of customizable cleansing options
  • an illuminated bezel indicates speed selection as well as pause and charging modes
  • a USB enabled p-Link charger allows you to recharge Aria
  • the convertible drying stand, which can be used on your sink or in your shower, converts into a charging cradle by simply attaching the pLink charger
  • beautifully modern high-gloss finish
  • two-year warranty ensures longevity

Dude, this chick is fancy yo. She comes with a USB charger and an illuminated bezel? I mean…wow. Priced at $199, she sits comfortably between the Mia ($119) and the Plus ($225). *sigh* I hate that I feel like I need it. I hate that I’ll be dreaming about this bloody thing until it’s in my possession. But I love that it exists.

The Clarisonic Aria is currently available online and in Sephora stores. For Clarisonic lovers who are like me and can never say “no”, give my condolences  to your wallet.

Ooooh – pretty Clarisonics! Must haul all!

Any time one of my girlfriends asks me about a must have skincare product, I recommend the Clarisonic. And I do this a lot. I could very well be a spokesperson for lé Clarisonic because I am always quick to go down the list of perks this skincare gadget has done for me and soooooo many other users.

Yeah. I am that in love with mis Clarisonics.

How gorgeous are these new Clarisonic Mia 2’s?

Just precious. I want them all. I want to place them on a shelf in my beauty room just to marvel at. Crazy yes but I am just enamored with these pretty shades.

Oh, and just in case you thought you couldn’t afford a Clarisonic – check again, mamacita. The Mia is only $119 and Mia 2 is $149. Not bad, uh? And can I be honest? I actually prefer the Mia over the Classic and PLUS. The Mia is perfect for traveling and I find it easier to move around the face.

Put that Clarisonic lemming to an end and get you one this summer. You deserve it, don’t you?

10 Things You Should Get From Sephora’s Friends & Family sale

You know what time it is! It’s time for Sephora’s Friends & Family online sale. Wooo hoooo! Beauty junkies everywhere wait all year for this sale. In fact, cheap guys and gals like me don’t make large purchases UNTIL this sale arrives. And to be quite honest, you should be that way about everything. Seriously.

If you don’t have a coupon for an item, don’t even get it. Like…fo reals.

Sephora’s F&F is working a little differently this year in that you have to go to this Sephora link and enter your email addy to get your unique sale code. After submitting my email, I got my code within minutes. This code is for online purchases only. Keep in mind that this is a 1-time use code and only valid in the U.S.

That last part sucks majorly, I know. If you’re stuck on what to get, I am here to help. Check out 10 of my favorite Sephora products.

1. Clarisonic Mia. Um, yahhhh. I purchased my Mia during a sale and while it was a bit pricey, this is one purchase that I do NOT regret making. If you’ve got the money and want to hook your skin up with something nice, get the Mia. Check out my complete review of it here. And ohmigoodness, that Jaguar Mia is the coolest looking one yet. Of course, I want it.

2. Fairy Drops ScandalQueen mascara. I absolutely LOVED this mascara and consider it to be one of my favorites. I gave it high marks for a good reason. 8)

3. Graffiti Hello Kitty brush set. I’ve been coveting that thing for quite some time now. And not only can get it for the low low with the discount, but it is now $25. Woo hooo!

4. Boscia’s Clarifying Detox mask has been a staple in my beauty routine for weeks now. If your skin needs some boosting in, get this mask. Fast.

5. Make Up For Ever’s #92 eyeshadow. You can’t call yourself an eyeshadow lover if you don’t own (and absolutely obsess over) this kid. Known as one of the most fantastical eyeshadows ever in the history of makeup, #92 should be an absoute staple in your collection.

6.  Nails, Inc.’s magnetic polishes. Yes, they are super expensive regularly priced, but this discount can make purchasing a lot less painless. I plan on scooping some up myself. Want to know what magnetic nail polish looks like? Check this out.

7.Fresh’s lip balm.  Remember the post I did on how much I looooove them. Not only can you save on that but they have darling gift sets that retails for less than $30. Ooooh yeah!

8. Lancome Bi-facil makeup remover? What in the world would I do without it? I made the mistake of trying a similar product and my eyes burned for days. Maybe not days, but put it this way…I will never stop using Bi-facil. That said, while it’s pricey, get it for the low low with the discount!

9.  Carol’s Daughter’s Rosemary Mint Clarifying Sulfate-Free Shampoo. I know I save all of my hair talk for Loc Rocker, but if you’re in need of a wonderful and purifying shampoo, check out  this baby. Aside from loving the combination, this is one fantastic shampoo for us dry hair’d folx. Oh, and Carol’s Daughter’s packaging changes? Loves it!

10. Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer. Dang. I just LOVE saying “Noir”. It sound all fancy ‘n ish. So yeah. I haven’t reviewed this yet but beat me to it. This top coat for lashes is effing amazing. And I’ll save the rest of my thoughts for the formal review.

Got your eyes on anything at Sephora?

As if the Clarisonic couldn’t get any better…

How much do I love my Clarisonic? A ridiculous amount, that’s for sure. I credit that face cleaning device for bringing my skin back to normal. While my skin likes to play tricks with me (one day clear skin, next day pimples galore), the Clarisonic’s love stays consistent. Clari always loves me. She is a total staple in the bathroom and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Wellllll, the very cool b-glowing.com is now the first online retailer to feature the New Deep Pore Cleansing Clarisonic. I know, right? Didn’t think ole’ Clari could get better, did you? Using the same sonic oscillation technology as the original Clarisonic, the new kid on the block comes with a Deep Pore Cleansing brush head that was designed with a unique gradation of bristle firmness and dual-action movement. What does that mean? It means whether you’ve got oily skin, acne prone skin or suffer from large pores, the Clarisonic Blue Plus will work hard to gently smooth out your skin; leaving it softer and refreshed.

I am hands down loving this brush head over the brush head from my original Clarisonic. It cleanses so much better and even more thorough than I thought it would. I’ve done a video and written review of the Clarisonic and can’t imagine not using it at least 3 times a week.

I know, I know…it’s not cheap. It took a few months of saving for me to be able to afford my Mia, but come on, darling. Healthy skin is worth the investment, isn’t it?  Grabbing the Clarisonic from b-glowing.com will set you back a good $225 but you and your gorgeous skin are worth it. The Clarisonic Blue Plus also comes with a body brush head.

That’s riiiight, you can take it in the shower to for a spa-like treatment all over. If the Clarisonic Blue Plus isn’t in your budget, b-glowing.com has a Tangerine Clarisonic Mia and a Garnet Mia that are perfectly priced at $119. Woot!

How much do you love Clarisonic? Have you purchased one yet?

MBFW-Swim 2011: Clarisonic booth

It’s no surprise that I am an enormous Clarisonic fan. In addition to regular visits with my dermatologist, it was the Clarisonic Mia face brush that helped my skin turn around. And those of y’all who have read the Acne Sucks series know just how funky my skin was can be at times. I was SO excited about getting a little facial at Clarisonic’s booth at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week-Swim.

Have you heard of the Clarisonic’s baby sister,  the Opal?

This powerful cutie patootie promises to reduce the fine lines and wrinkles under and around the eyes. And yeah, I know I’m only 25 but it’s important to start these preventive treatments now. And you know why else I dig the Opal? It helps me breathe a little better breaking massaging my sinuses. Score!

After my facial I got a chance to chit-chat with Dr. Robb Akridge, one of the co-founders of Clarisonic.

I asked him if he thought the Clarisonic face brush could help brown girls with with hyperpigmentation. He told me that hyperpigmentation is a clinical issue and he couldn’t say for sure. But is the Clarisonic face brush worth the investment for those looking to repair and maintain their skin’s health? Um….yeah!

Clarisonic was also present backstage at the shows to buff the models’ faces and bodies’ to perfection. Make-up and lotion literally sinks right in on freshly Clarisonic’d skin. Loves it!!

Beauty Review: Clarisonic Mia Face brush

Finally!

It’s the post you’ve all been waiting for! I am excited to review the Clarisonic. I’ve it bragged it enough in my YouTube videos so it’s about time, right? This is going to be a picture heavy post so brace thy self. I’ll do this review by posing questions. I think this will be the best way to really get across how awesome the Clarisonic is. Click the jump to read on!

What are the other Clarisonic face brushes like?

The Clarisonic Mia face brush is the baby of group. Its older siblings include the Classic, which retails for $199 and the Plus which retails for $225. I haven’t used the big boys but the main difference, other than price, are the speeds. The Mia only has 1 speed whereas the Classic has 2 and the Plus has 3. If you are stuck on which Clarisonic to purchase, the website has an awesome comparison chart here.

How much is the Clarisonic Mia? Are there any ways to get it cheaper?

I was ECSTATIC when the Mia made its debut. It retails for $149 but I purchased it for 20% off thanks to a Sephora Friends & Family sale. That’s almost $30 off! If you really want to make this investment, but the price is hurting you–wait for a sale. Also, QVC sells the Classic and you can make 3 installments. Find out more about that here. You can also get it from Sephora and Ulta. I highly suggest purchasing from Sephora because they have a great return policy. I know the Clarisonic Mia is pricey but my skin (even in all of its craziness) is worth it.

Okay, so what does the Clarionic Mia do?
Here’s what the back of the box says…

And according to the website,

* Removes 6x more makeup than manual cleansing
* Leaves skin feeling and looking smoother
* Cleanses so well that products absorb better
* Gentle enough for twice daily use
* Helps reduce oily areas, dry skin patches and blemishes
* Helps reduce the appearance of visible pores
* Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

What comes in the Clarisonic Mia box?

Inside you will find the system with a sensitive brush head, a charger and a 1 oz. sample of Gentle Hydro cleanser. I chucked that. You can use the Clarisonic with cleanser you choose. Inside the box is also a ton of valuable information about how often to charge (after 20 minutes of use) and ways to care for your your brush head and handle.

The Clarisonic Mia looks REALLY small. How big is it?
Since I have never owned the Classic, I can’t do a side by side comparison but I think the Mia is a great size.

It fits right in your hand. I have since played with the Classic in stores and it just feels bulkier and not as easy to control as the Mia. The Mia is also travel friendly and relatively lightweight.

How do you charge the Mia?
The Classic and the Pro both have cradles. The Mia, however, has a charger. The charger simply goes into the wall and connects at the bottom of the handle.

It’s pretty cool, actually. Align the holes up and the charger magnetically snaps into place with the handle.

How do you turn the Mia on? Is there a timer? Any bells and whistles?

The Mia turns on with a press of its only button.

Once this button is pressed, it will automatically turn off in 1 minute. It doesn’t beep or say “ta da” or anything like that. Remember, the Mia only has one speed so if you press this button again (after you’ve already turned it on), it will turn off.

How does the brush head feel? Is it okay for sensitive skin?

The sensitive brush head feels just find on my skin. I don’t find it to be too abrasive or harsh at all. Clarisonic brushes use sonic technology and are gentle on the skin. The bristles don’t dig into your skin rather they oscillate which actually feels good. Everyone’s skin is different so if you have extremely sensitive skin, perhaps using the Clarisonic only in one area on your face would be best; just to see how your skin will react.

The brush in action….

How does the Clarisonic Mia compare to Pretika’s face brush?

The Mia is MUCH better. Granted Pretika’s face brush is only $24.99 and it was “okay” when I used it. However, when I used the Mia my skin looked and felt different in a matter of weeks. This wasn’t the case with the Pretika and I used that for a good 3-4 months. Would I recommend the Pretika for those who don’t want to splurge on the Clarisonic Mia? Sure. But if you want the best for your skin…save your pennies (Lord knows it took me months…lol) and get the Clarisonic. See obvious differences between the two in my video here.

Okay, what’s the bottom line? Did the Clarisonic Mia work for you?
Absolutely!!! My skin has never looked better. I know that sounds cliche, but I mean it. My skin has changed completely and I attribute it to the Clarisonic Mia. I can’t even say diet, exercise and vitamins. Those have all been a part of my life for quite some time and my skin was STILL a mess. The Clarisonic Mia, along with visits to the dermatologist and skin tone correctors have really changed my skin. See my before and after pictures here.

The lengthy but very detailed video review…

Well y’all…told you it was a jam packed post. Between this post and the video, I think I have covered everything inquiring minds may want to know about the Clarisonic.

Now it’s your turn. Do you have one? Want one? Not sold on it yet?

Tell me!
